no worries personal opinion, if you can skin you can work tga. i find it pretty easy, once i set up the template for each project. from there its a matter of fitting the new pieces in, and adjusting opacity.
-
when i say "nation_insig" im using a generic name for your tga. it wont do you any good in the flight folder put that in whatever folder the other decals are going into. in the case if my Eagle work, i put the insignia tgas in the overall F-15A folder, and have unit specific stuff in each of hte unit folders (01_27, 01_71, 5FIS etc) in the case of the C-130 packs ive been doing, i put the insignia in each nations folder (Spain, Egypt, Libya etc)

ok, for the decal.ini set the decallevel to 0. brief reminder 0 is nations, 1 is units, 2 is serial numbers, and 3 is kills]. the easiest way on a new insignia (or even common one in new skin) is just to name it "nation_Insig" or something similar and the game will force it in. Im doing that right now with F-15s , naming the insignias insigNB (the early no border version) and insigBlack (the later subdued version). add copies into my decal folder and its done as for nations in game keeping it simple, you then want to extract a copy of the nations.ini into your flight folder. the nation entries will look roughly like this ------------------------------------------------------------ [Nation002] Name=USAF DisplayName=United States Air Force Alignment=FRIENDLY PilotNameList=NamesUSAF.lst RankList=RanksUSAF.lst CallsignList=CallsignsUS.lst Formation.Fighter=USFighter Formation.Attack=USFighter Formation.Bomber=USBomber Formation.Transport=USBomber Formation.Tank=USTank Formation.MobileAD=USAD PilotTrainingStandard=EXCELLENT GenderRatio=0 DebriefSuccessMusic=DebriefSuccess.wav DebriefFailMusic=DebriefFail.wav DebriefKilledMusic=DebriefKilled.wav SpeechFile=USAFSpeech.cat SpeechTextFile=USAFSpeechText.cat Medals=MedalsUSAF.ini MedalTextFile=MedalsUSAF.str UseFAC=TRUE ActiveDate=1948 AlternateDecal=USAF_OLD --------------------------------------------------------------- if you want to add a new nation then set it for the next entry in the bottom of the ini. for example if i added a new one to mine the sample might look like this [Nation258] Name=Atropia DisplayName=Atropian Air Force Alignment=FRIENDLY PilotNameList=NamesRussian.lst RankList=RanksRussian.lst CallsignList=CallsignsUS.lst Formation.Fighter=SovietFighter Formation.Attack=SovietFighter Formation.Bomber=SovietBomber Formation.Transport=SovietBomber Formation.Tank=SovietTank Formation.MobileAD=SovietAD PilotTrainingStandard=NORMAL GenderRatio=0 DebriefSuccessMusic=DebriefSuccess.wav DebriefFailMusic=DebriefFail.wav DebriefKilledMusic=DebriefKilled.wav SpeechFile=USAFSpeech.cat SpeechTextFile=USAFSpeechText.str AlternateDecal=Pineland other values can change, but he ones in bold are the most common if you dont have the 3W cat extractor, look around at the mods, many include a nations list ini (all of my airliner mods should) due to things the modders have done with them. they also often have some commonly missing nations like US Army, Dhimar and Paran

you know, i could sorta hurt you for the HANG skinpack. but i did make it fit within TKs Eagle decal layout so i got that going for me which is nice yes, i have realized mistakes in there since posted. it is a WIP thread.

recycle TW tga? who does this? Homefries released a pack many moons ago to. could be some stuff in there for the lo viz skins i find it odd that for a game based in the 60s and 70s essentially, TK had the Alaskan Eagles reporting to Pacific Air Forces rather than Alaskan Air Command

lookin good!

im sorry, ill rivet count here the labels are white labels with black lettering, usually all caps going across. basically its a sticker going across an pad on the front. once the factory given sticker wears off, we just use cheap white labels. it all comes off after one or two washings anyhow, hence the cheaper ones more frequently. but the factory labels do look nicer. much like the very first pic i posted of them last page

for anyone else reading this, talks are underway on a newer model. a couple have sent me copies of the model and SF2 update for it and i thank you. still looking for newer but as i like to say; cant find it, make it yourself. again, thank you for the help you have given, and no need to send me the older stuff anymore. Wrench, when you find them, that would be a good release even for the planes that have since been updated.

aaaaahhhh. that answers some things

ok so my memory might be a little hazy, even as inexact as i gave dimensions

errr yeah. notice my signature below.... its why im looking on site. i remember column5 having it, but it seems not to have carried over

I know V2K made a B-47B for Gen 2, did anyone ever do a E model for Gen 2? digging in the DL section, all i can find in aircraft is paulopanz's update, but that shoots a link to the now defunct Column5 site. otherwise, is the one in the OTC mod the only one we have here on site? and yes, im thinking about how there were more B-47 wings than the 380th. would be fairly easy too given all metal and SAC's policy on nose art at the time

Aviations cool and all. but field artillery teaches you how to hustle in my later years was doing stuff like trading SEABees tubs of Baskin Robbins ice cream for an 8 foot gazebo in Afghanistan. deployments, experiences may vary. pogey bait? thats cute damn if there was always abunch of these bad boys left after every field problem. and never saw a one turned in to the DFAC or TISA (the food warehouse) like the rest of the excess rations........... GKABS, at least in my time (which only wrapped up a few years ago) in you couldnt throw a rock without hitting a couple of these. 3 on every MKT (field kitchen) and most command sections (like would be using your track) had a dozen, along with better folding tables like you get at a store. i used them more for hand wash stations (with the same type juice jug as the coffee was in), but you usually didnt have to look to hard to find one. dimensions were around 2ft wide, 4 ft long and maybe 3 3/4 ft tall (0.6096 x 1.2192 x 1.143 meters according to google) as to juice jug dimensions, off of memory i could fit at least two under that table with 6 to 8 inches to spare in back. three on top scrunched together. better measurements than that and id have to google a GSA catalog. shapes pretty spot on, need two grooves on each side if you want to be perfect (the latches fit in the grooves, keeps em from breaking while being transported on thier sides). but id be shocked if folks looked that close. and your choice of green, brown or tan for colors. officers tagged to do inventories preferred them to be grouped by color, we grouped by which ones were serviceable, which got stripped for parts and which were absolute junk but still on the books. unless we only had one MKT, pretty much all our gear was sorted like that (the best trailer, second best, then the ones with a whole bunch of stuff on order) im both laughing and happy, getting some 92 Golf (Army cook) toys in game. even if its just a juice jug in a flight sim

coffee stand stoffee shmand they get good old US Army hobo coffee, just like the rest of the joes. boiled with the grounds in the 15 gallon pot, then 2 quarts of cold water to sink the grounds to the bottom. darker than motor oil, and enough caffiene to have you hearing the color purple on the midnight to 0400 radio watch ok, so yes the coffee that would be where the Colonel, First Sergeant and Sergeant Major (in ascending order of importance) are get the grounds strained out better. keep the big dogs happy and the cooks can get away with more in the field
