tell me you dont mod without saying you dont mod quite familiar with how big they are. although i did break my copy of Gunnys pack down by rough era/area (vietnam, europe, 50s 80s etc) and i are an old school retired NCO. i know these weapons are too dumb to understand they are being insulted by being called retarded. laser guided weapons, on the other hand, are highly sensitive and you must watch yourself around them
-
are you talking about the ballutes, or actual parachutes? the Mk8xAIR weapons are like above, everyone else used fins like Snakeye iirc the ones like pictured are all over the download section, both in weapons packs and in various aircraft mods (cough cough DA B-52 mods nudge nudge)

Boeing Panavia F-11B Tornado
daddyairplanes replied to crisisloaner's topic in Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
nice skin, but F-11 would have been the USN's Tiger fighter. while an A designation would be more accurate, the USAF would stsick F on anything that has the remotest chance of shooting another aircraft down (even the A-10 is tended to by Fighter squadrons) would suggest F-19 or 22 or 23 as those were the numbers up for grabs when this was a semi serious consideration. the back story then could give an even bigger twist to the whole F-19 speculation in the 80s! -

Icelandic Eagles in 85
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
souli for the win! thsecond two work if i double the image size (not too much detail loss), its about the same size even as the other inner tail logos already done (doing them 384x384, roughly 150% TW size) thank you for the quick resoonse, faster than i anticipated. must focus on finishing bitburg eagles, then do the Black Knights. as they really would have looked in RSR.... -
your what if screenies are awesome (you need to get on Spinners level and give a back story to the Iranian Voodoo) but with the handling problems, can you imagine how much the Weasel crews would bitch about their Magic Mongoose?

Icelandic Eagles in 85
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
you all didnt think i'd have an easy request did you? thank you for sharing, but thats the wrong era. an eagle superimposed over Iceland came about aroun 1988, and lasted until they disbanded in 94. i have a decal sheet with that already im looking for the very beginning of the 1st AF era, right after the FIS's stopped being part of ADTAC. sadly, the plastic kit modeller that has the Wing King done didnt do the wolfs head. its amazing when you think of the similar challenges that plastic kit modellers and modders of the skinning variety have... -
anyone have a bigger image of this Eagle tail art? Its from the 57th FIS, circa 1985-86. trying to get a better image so i can dial the details in better. this request is after looking through two dozen personal books, and three days of looking at "ICelandic F-15" "dire wolf profiles" and "fenrir profiles" on google, to name a few searches

I want to edit the squadronlist.ini
daddyairplanes replied to Gepard's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
note: you can throw as many entries as you want in there. i had functioning entries through 1300 in mine, setting up blocks of units (900-949 US Air National Guard interceptor units, 950-999 US Army Attack Aviation units for example) this is presuming youre not going crazy enough to exceed 9999 units...... out of curiosity, adding LSK units? -
ODS.30 - Aircraft/Weapons report.
daddyairplanes replied to yakarov79's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
well put. thats why this would be a standalone install, to avoid breaking similar but slightly different mods for those that have continued on with it, there has been a large amount of work put in. the ini edits you mention arent really hard or major. until you make that edit across dozens or hundreds of files those that can adjust or cherrypick to their liking will do so. those that dont know how but want to learn will also do so, but ask publicy how to fix their mistakes (while being answered by some and scolded by some) those that cant and dont want to learn, sit back and enjoy the show as its been brought to you! -
it does, thats why they were last in the post. with luck, i'll be here long enough to see the first of the 916ths new Pegasus come in. but it gives me flashbacks to Bagram (not the bad kind) hearing the Eagles runnin their engines. dogs are used to it by now, tho wife and kids are still a little annoyed

depends on what you mean by help. delivering disaster aid after a natural catastrophe is not only the decent thing to do (as a person or nation) but the best way to promote American ideals, especially if you dont use the efforts to promote American ideals fuckin up a functioning country, sitting there a few years without actually fixing the infrastructure, then hoppin on the next bird out isnt going to convince folks that are used to very opposite ways of life that apple pie is great. afghanistan is kinda worse, it really hasnt been a functioning country since the 1970s. might have had a chance in the early 2000s if corruption hadnt been allowed to flourish, but Haliburton couldnt let that pass now could they?

dont forget putting anything from a British/American factory in Argentine colors.....

anything we can do? no, other than help the ones that helped us get out if they want to ninety percent of hte ANA doesnt give a shit about anyone other than themselves. the ten percent that are actually good soldiers just isnt enough to do much. hopefully a different group altogether pops up, knocks the taliban on their ass and sets up a loose confederation amongst the tribes. still a pipe dream, but more realistic than the current Afghan government being effective or possible existant a year from now. i always found it funny that we had better justification for the start of afghanistan, but iraq was more successful (ish) because that government and army could almost stand on its own.

hmm like the Brit Officer that posted classified documents to prove a point about hte Challenger i mean when Gaijin steps in to say "this is illegal and were taking it off our site"..... at the prompting of the MoD

well, its 99.9999% official, i will be moving to Goldsboro NC next weekend. most of the processes are started already; utility deposits made, household packing out. And internet cutting off tomorrow. Suddenlink wont allow 5 days of service and im not paying $89 for those 5 days only. not totally going away, still have my phone and internet in the new place is one of the provided commodities. meanwhile, im signing off for now. fast forward to 1:25 for mid 80s USAF aircraft porn, complete with poor VHS squiggly video
