  1. you can say that again mandatory screenie (possibly a rehash, but proves teh point)
  2. how are they not working properly exactly? not appearing at all, not right size, there are many issues that prevent the decals working right. in ini check filepath (everyone makes simple dumb mistakes on this, myself averaging 3 per project), that the desired file is in the right folder, and the decallevel is correct (=2 for serial numbers) as to location on plane, locations should roughly match the F that i skinned (see post above), but meshnames may be different from F to G. use mues lodviewer to verify both you have the stock numbers on, have you considered changing to unit markng decals when you get the issue resolved?
  3. the links below are not templates but should be useful. the F will have decal location entries for Armourdaves F (similar to the G) and the Hill skins will have the Euro 1, SEA wraparound and a desert scheme as worn by one each aircraft with the 466th TFW at Hill AFB before retirement in 1984. The Gs were used by the Georgia ANG until around 1983 (this is before coffee as usual: dates not exact). They were commended for making a European training deployment despite at one point having to stand down all the aircraft for maintenence. They were also in Service at George AFB until 1978 or 79 when the F-4Gs were coming on line. Hill should have the colors and rough patterns needed.
  4. can you post another screenshot or two? the one from the other thread stands out as it shows Royal Saudi Air Force as the unit, but what is most likely RAF serials (i dont see a nation that wanted the servicewomen of the nation protecting it to cover up as being big on nose art)? also for clarification is this just the Tonka or all player flyables? edit: just looked through all num lists for the guruu Tornado except Italian. could not find a serial marking set matching what is in the screenie in zietgiest's thread
  5. yup. i find my time being about 45% research, 45% setting up initial templates of how things should be laid out, and 10% making all the rest of the mod.
  6. the knowledge base has alot of good information for the more basic skills like ini edits (for weapons, skins, decals and some FM edits), skinning, decal making and light campaign edits (changing units or planes) https://combatace.com/forums/forum/99-thirdwire-strike-fighters-knowledge-base/ https://combatace.com/forums/forum/268-thirdwire-strike-fighters-2-series-knowledge-base/ the simplest basics covered in the strike fighters knowledge base still apply in SF2, so it is good to read up in there as well. differences specific to SF2 are sprinkled through the second knowledge base. also compare notes with whatever you are trying to do with previous work, be it decal placement on a given plane, weapon station adjustment or whatever. it wont likely be a cut and dried answer, but will help lead you to the answer you want.
  7. @1Patriot-of-many: now that i have your attention, yes it is an issue that not everyone has the same standard of instructions. but until CA is based in China thats something that will continue. My issue was the tone (dumbasses, clear now?). it is one thing to go in a repair shop when your 2014 Honda Civic has radiator issues after a repair, and address it specifically to the manager (or particular modder or even admin in the case of mods). its a whole other thing to burst in the store yelling about how jacked all the mechanics are because your cars radiator is screwed up now, like creating a thread to complain about campaigns in general (italics are to highlight specific vs general). referring to other end users as dumbasses would be like the second scenario, but looking at the customers and calling them fools for getting their cars fixed there. the folks running the shop get irritated and some of the customers do too. if there is an issue, try to talk to the specific modder. if you cant reach them, contact an admin or post asking how to get a hold of the modder because of whatever problem. @Niels: no worries. another member here hooked me up with the YAP hose and drogue, but it looked like a Pepsi can with fins. the code was useful tho to get to the end result. as to refueling, well TK broke it for Gen2 and others have had bigger priorities than to make it work again. have some ideas to bounce off the campaign guys to set up "refueling tracks" while tankers are doing recon missions. doesnt pass any gas, but adds a step to the mission along the way
  8. lemme know when the Hustler gets to the barn. been working alot of SAC decals, and that bird was only operational with two wings, so i can knock unit marks out for ya pretty quick
  9. Niels, ya gotta get in nice with a modder (modeler in particular) and ask nicely! helps if you can hook up with a different skill too though joking aside, you know yakarov79 hooked a new drogue up for the KC-135 pack a few months ago? uses YAPs trick in the code and a new hose and drogue and is selectable as a "gunpod" in the loadouts. much better experience, as long as you dont look at the back end between takeoff and around 200 KIAS.
  10. V2K, is there anything you havent got at some stage of development on your HD?
  11. there are many different skill levels and personalities amongst the modders here. some add complete instructions barney style, some dont. most of us dumbasses either figure it out (asking for assistance in forum when necessary) or i guess go back to Ace Combat on PS. i know this dumbass got busy learning some years ago. However, if you provide reciept of your purchased mod, we will happily provide a refund or discount on your next mod. Oh wait, you didnt pay? Thats right, we do this for free, working topics we want to around our personal work and life schedules. many projects (esp. campaigns) are years in the making as less than a dozen people are directly active on it, some cases only one primary with small help from a couple of others. shit gets forgotten about at the end, but mods are still free. as a matter of fact it states in most readme's that the mod is freeware and not to be used in any payware projects. what you paid to be a premium member is a donation to the site owner that supports the running of the site as a whole. the modders are freelancers that want to share their work with others in the community, not Erik's employees. but presentations by end users that act as if they are paying for the mods have been discouraging many modders into not releasing any new projects, and pissing others off. if there is a specific issue with a specific mod, address the original author that released it (yes for each individual mod of those many). constructive criticism is actually always welcome. but general bitching and griping "on behalf of others" isnt necessary. we can look up our FB accounts to get that. Clear now?
  12. here be dragons......
  13. RL slowing back down, time to get back to virtual work
  14. in a related offshoot, what happened to column5's stuff? i know a bunch is on here, and it was put in an archive several years back when his main site went to poetry (or something similar iirc). can't find it now tho, the post above got me looking at marcfighters site, and the links on the left are a vivid window to the past ("new Hawker Hunter F6 by armourdaves", or "new model F-8D Crusader by Lobo Mau, volksjager, column5, crab_02, USAFMTL, Flying-V, Charles Gunst") also yeah, most has much better and newer stuff esp. for the Gen2 crowd. but it seems a shame for such a resource to disappear
  15. i would say a fortnight. but then that might get confused with Fortnite and cause considerably greater delays........
  16. for permissions double check that the original author is a member of the freeware licensing agreement or that they give blanket permission in their readmes. just a couple of unbiased (cough cough) suggestions, add in the US Army, Airliner nation and a red Airliner nation. airliner nation and formation.ini can be found with any of my airliner releases, and it would add more variety to the skies and flight lines, esp as many airlines would get pressed into service or chartered during a conflict no reason why this retired Soldier would want the Army represented
  17. there are several Dhimari skins out there, as well as Parani skins. Spinners also has a squadron unit badge set for the different units. this guy that skins jumbos even made a Dhimari C-17 iirc of course, there is also the classic call to make your own, in which case look for the template for the aircraft in question or again make your own.
  18. excellent choice to incorporate both aircraft as 1 esp. when there were no external differences in the two.
  19. looks good, although your destroyed model on the one a/c shelter may be more complete than anything shy of a nuke. an image search on google of "destroyed iraqi aircraft shelters" shows most with a big circular hole, debris blow out from the easiest door for the explosion to breach and scorching inside. the outside tends to look intact or have some slabs/blocks displaced rather than being entirely a flat smoking ruin but this is common of all the building destroyed models in this game (stock and 3d party). in real life (post WW2) there is often a signifigant amount of the building left, much like in Kosovo (around 2000) where the facade was blown off of many buildings but people were living in them still (and even watching Sky News on satellite tv!) with the appearance of an overgrown doll house. just a thought as you continue, but it is really awesome work so far and look forward to whats next
  20. the quote of the day.....
  21. wicked, i just saw some pics of that on FB earlier this evening! mandatory screenie (tho a day late for a throwback)
  22. that is awesome
  23. i realized i have goofed with the ini file for the water injection on the B-52Gs for ODS. it was a last minute adjustment that i did not run by the test team in order to prevent conflict with other J57ExhaustEmmiters. FOR EVERYONE WHO HAS DOWNLOADED THE B-52G_89 FOR ODS PRIOR TO 16 JANUARY 2019: add this to your effects folder, it will correct the error and you will experience as close to a water injection takeoff as the game allows Effects.7z FOR EVERYONE WHO DOWNLOADS AFTER 16 JANUARY 2019: the file has been fixed, you will not need this. My apologies to everyone who downloaded previously and needs this fix
