AX PC is dead.. needs help... NOT GONE!
OvS replied to Axgrinder's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Ax... just bear in mind the voltage draw of that card. Make sure your PS can handle it. Otherwise, the PS will blow out... been there... done that. See... we're always here to help. OvS -
Thinking of Buying Over Flanders Field
OvS replied to outfctrl's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Welcome outfctrl... from the guys at OBD and the OFF Team, we welcome all newbies with a door open... :) You buy the next round. Come and see us if you need help, have issues or simply want to chew the rag for a while. We're always happy to have new members. And by all means, check out Stump and the boys for some online fun. I've done it, and it really is a good laugh, unlike the tension and aggression you can get from other Online games... OFF online is pure and simple fun. OvS -
Spoken from a Jets fan...it was fun to watch him play, but this is really pathetic. It will end like this... [Announcer] Vikings down by 3... we've got about :15 on the clock and it's 3rd and about 6 from his own 45. Farve's really going to have to come up big on this one... he's got one chance at it.. maybe two?? OK... here's the play... and it's Farve back to pass. He's got some pressure from the right.. the pocket is collapsing around him... he's going down... wait... he got it off!!! ... WOW what a TOSS!!! It's deep ... LOOK.... he's got a man open!!!! ... it's there, in STRIDE!!!! He's at the 10, the 5.... it's in!!!! ... TOUCHDOWN VIKINGS!!!! Farve did it!!! HE DID IT!! From 55 yards out.. the deep ball!!! IT'S A TOUCH.... ah wait ... hold on here.. the officials are at the goal line, they're looking at something... oh boy... that's not the ball... oh.. wait.. uh.. no.. it can't be... IT'S FARVES RIGHT ARM!!!! ah... WOW... uh... that's it folks.. he's really done this time. Farve lost his arm on that deep toss. Ah man... that hurts... he's done. But WOW, what a way to go!! OvS

You're joking right? No human is more precious than the human standing next to them, whether in a grocery line, or the line of fire. It will be a cold day in hell before I ever chose my own life over seeing the the freedoms that my fellow citizens enjoyed stripped from them because I was selfish ... even as a parent of a child I would... just to make sure my kid can see the sunshine and smell the flowers from the safety of a free nation. I still say mandatory. As has alreadt been stated... the military isn't all about wars. There are some very positive training opportunities, College tuition opportunities, and growth possibilities for some that may never have that chance otherwise. I'd rather see my tax dollars spent on a person that could possibliy become a success of the community, rather than a product of it. OvS

We declared war on Terrorism... then let the draft begin! Give the Troops serving 3rd and 4th tours a well needed break.

AX PC is dead.. needs help... NOT GONE!
OvS replied to Axgrinder's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yes, Ax.. I meant like overwhelming. The PS probably blew the main fuse. So something in it is not happy. It takes a lot to blow a Mobo.. so I wouldn't worry about that. If the Mobo was blown, you would get nothing and a lot more smell. -
Down south in South Carolina I think they are called "Package Stores"? Camel, is that right? Up here we call them the standard: Liquor Stores... or Booze Shops.

Did you HAVE to remind me of how hard the Mad Dog bites... jeeze.. now I'm dry-heaving again.... from 20 years ago!!! Long Island, NY... Duck Walk... nice stuff. Cheap price, but a very good tasting, light wine. Goes great with Chicken... http://www.duckwalk.com/

Axe, installing a power supply is the easiest thing to do on a PC. It would be worth it to get one of the same spec, if not more wattage from NewEgg and try it. It's all a bunch of connectors, 4 screws and one huge multi port power connector. For $50-60 bucks... I'd go that route and see if it helps. If not, at least you'll have a new power supply on hand... they tend to blow easy with all the new stuff out there. Other than that... Mobo... but it really sounds like a PS to me... any smells? Open the hood and sniff around. OvS -
Wow, this is cool. Looks insane. What are the things streaking straight up to the sky? ICBMs? Great job as always Stump! OvS

I say mandatory... as it was my response that kicked this off. I just feel, as it has been said already, that today's youth bears NO responsibility or care for anything. We've opened the doors to all kinds in the USA and now we've flooded the streets and alleyways with thousands of bodies that could care less about what keeps them free, or for that matter, speaking the same language, keeping their neighbor safe... etc.. etc. I say a two year stint might just help those along that don't realize a dream, and maybe give them the training to do something of themselves. Think of all the men that returned from the service that learned construction, mechanics, engineering.. etc... don't just think of the men/women as trained killers. I'd say it's a better shot at something rather than seeing these kids end up in jails. Yes, freedom isn't free, but at this point, we can't keep sending the same older troops to keep us clean. It's time to start replacing them with new blood. OvS
-
It all depends on what you call being 'free'... my Grandfather was inducted at age 32.. with two kids at home... and served 3 years in the Pacific as a Higgins Boat driver. He was fighting for freedom as well. You're right... what the hell are we fighting over there. Might as well send a whole s-load of meat there and just occupy the entire region once and for all. Either that, or pull-out totally, face the loss, and let the place implode. They're never going to chance, the God of Change won't change them... they've been doing this for thousands of years... it will NEVER change. So the bodies we loose there, might very well be more useful here policing our own borders and infrastructure. OvS

Hello Hemo, Below are some examples from Wings Palette showing the variations of the LVG C.V verses the LVG C.VI. This is not the same plane with a bigger motor, there are very noticable differences betweem the two aircraft types. A larger engine, rudder shape, breather holes, engine cover (C.V)... etc. So it's something like this... if the decals are showing an LVG C.VI and it is in fact a C.VI model, go with the Greek cross on Lozenge... if you have an LVG C.V, then you can get away with Lozenge with the Maltees (Iron) cross. By mid-late March 1918, all German markings were to be the Greek cross... although some were repainted from scratch, others were simple 'paint-overs' on top of the existing Iron Cross which made them look huge. Later on in the war, when the wings were repaired, or the fabric was changed, each plane was painted with the standard thin lined Greek cross. I will point out though, that the LVG was more noted to have been in an all wood standard fuselage, rather than lozenge all over. Squadron insignias, on top of painted fuselages were the norm as well. Also, the earlier C.V had many variations of camo painted all over the plane. Dan San Abbott from The Aerodrome helped us out with many of his suggestions, although we found when they were painted on to the plane... they didn't look right... so we tweaked some of the colors to fit better. I hope that helps a little.... I would go with the Greek.. on lozenge wings, with a wood fuselage... that would look not only classic, but would keep you from thinking you were not historical. Here... I'll help you all really get twisted... After 9-11, at JFK all NY/NJ PA (NY/NJ Port Authority) ID's were revoked and you had to reapply in person for a new one. The PANY Offical showed-up at our Terminal to conduct the interviews for who I work for. Even though at that time I had been an employee of the company for over 7 years, but like everyone lese, I still had to do this... He asks the usual questions... I had to show proper ID as to who I was, and provide an original birth certificate/DL/ Passport.... All good. Then he reads my application for renewal, and sees that I went to college... all good... then he asks me... PA: "Well, when you graduated college, I see you were unemployed from December of 1993, until April of 1994... OK, what were you doing in that time period?" Me: "uhmmm... looking for a job? You know, applying and waiting, the usual." PA: "So, where were you living. It says here you were 'living at home'. Where was home?" Me: "With my parents... I had no money, and no job. So I moved back in with them." PA: "Yes, but can you prove that?" Me: "What?!?!" PA: "Can you provide proof that you were living at home with them?" Me: "Guy... you've got to be kidding me? I had just graduated college, what did you expect?!!" PA: "OK, well, in order for you to keep working here, and for us to give you your ID back, you need proof, signed and stamped by a Notary Public, of where you were during those 4 months from 1993 to 1994." Me: "WHAT?!?!... that was almost 10 years ago??? What the hell!! What do you want a letter from my Mommy and Daddy that says little Junior was living at home again?!? You must be kidding me!! I'm married with a kid now... I don't get it!" PA: "Exactly... signed and stamped by a Notary. ID denied." So long story short... I have 8 Great Uncles and my own Grandfather that served in all branches in WWII, three of them in the Airborne during Anzio, Normandy, Operation Market Garden, and the Bulge... my father in Korea, my Uncle and older cousin in Viet Nam, 2 of my younger cousins in the 1st Gulf War... And this is the thanks my family gets.. but Abib from Pakistan gets a free ride as he's only got a green card and could not have a 10 year background check... "I was in Pakistan before 2001!" Nice... I agree... But this really burns me up... Why is our Armed Forces voluntary? Meanwhile, the scum of the earth is out there, on your streets, in the backs of your buildings, on your kids' playgrounds... hanging out with your kids... graduating HS, and sitting at home claiming they can't get a job and go on unemployment... getting arrested every other day, selling drugs.. etc.. etc.. etc. Meanwhile, respectable guys like us in their late 30's and 40's (and older) with families, and responsiblities at home go over there and serve more than they were supposed to, at a cost higher than they expected. Yes, I understand it's 'part of the job', but really, a 40 year old soldier should be back home, teaching new 18 year old 'draftees' how to combat these a-holes all over the world. Enough with the volunteer Armies... allowing the loosers to live and the good men to die. With all the over-crowding in prisons, and the obvious laziness of 90% of our American youth... maybe it's time for another kick in the pants? OvS

Nod! The Nodster... the Nodman... Man of Nod.. Noddicus Maxiums... Mod Nod the Nod of Noddingham... not nodding off, but Nod the Nod of NOD!!! Nice to see you back and doing well. Stop in now and then and say hi.. All the best! James 'OvS'

I agree... that's Konrad.

Actually, what Bullethead wrote, is almost verbatim from a pilot's memiors in 1917... archie was feared, however, did not stop them from flying... and a balloon mission was almost certain death for 1 if not two of the squad mates in your flight. Hence why guys like Röth, Coppens, and Luke were looked upon as fearless. It was an honor to be called a 'Balloon Buster' as it signified you have balls made of solid brass. I think the AA is spot on... if you're stupid, or become too complacent, you die. Attack the balloon from high above and dive on it to cover you from the AAMG's. Once you reach about 500ft above it, break the attack and start again. Flak... it's a game of luck but jinking if you have too will lessen your chances maybe by 10%. Get real... this is Hell... this IS WWI!! OvS

I get like that when I'm hungry... and haven't slept... No sweat... we're all human... except us with OBD... we've been assimilated to the Borg.

Another great thing I just realized about OFF
OvS replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Smooth and classy... and a very good point. -
Winston, From my perspective, which is no better than yours, the patch improved things a lot. The reason my perspective is not better is because I have no clue what is in each patch that we test, other than a quick list Winder sends out, which is him asking us what to look for that is wrong. So I am looking for things that WM and Pol feel may be causing issues, and I discover the rest. The list never says anything about the specifics of adding things in, it mechanical and made to alert us to look for problems. Case in point, the scenery... Winder told us to look for bad scenery tiles... he didn't specifically say he improved anything as much as he did... well to my utter shock and surprise, the scenery looked fantastic! More trees, more color, more variety, more damage. Same for the new hangars at the dromes, which were a very welcomed improvement. Life at home base! I can give other examples, but why... you get my point. I am no better than you. But, what I find is that everyone has a desire for a high level of perfection in their own mind, and what they base that level on, only they know. This is a sim of WWI air combat... the rest is all about the atmosphere of it. If you read more books, you will find OFF is a very close interpretation of the Hell that WWI was. Unlike past sims that were basically rough guesses, OFF was researched intensely, and produced from that research. Hence the smaller flight numbers in the begining. As the war raged on, the Germans had it tougher as the Brits flew in larger formations, outnumbering them almost 2 to 1. So the JG's would fly together to gather numbers, but were still outnumbered... however, they're pilots were slightly better, and had less greenies flying in mass formations. Winder, Pol and Rex have done a miracle of a job transforming a sh$t sim like CFS3 into a whole new world, that closely resembles the truth behind WWI. We can't please everyone, but as Winder mentioned, rather than open-mouth blasting, choose a better method like a poll. If you do have ligitimate issues that can be fixed, believe me, Winder will look into them. Other than that, I can't figure out what else to say. OFF is a total package, and yes might still have some minor issues, but overall... I'm happy to overlook them with the insane feeling of realizm I get after flying a few intense missions. OvS

Fantastic!! What luck these two folks have. My wife and I had a good laugh over that one. Thanks!
-
Well... we might as well come clean... You see... we're not really human. Winder and Polovski have been assimilated by the Borg, and really have no idea what rest or human exhaustion is. Paarma, myself and Shred were Space Marines, but a while back were taken captive, and converted to Strogg. Sandbagger is actually Agent Smith... while Makai.... also known as Dr. Manhattan... has left Earth and is at an unknown location, possibly Mars... but we lost him on the scanners. That about sums it up for us... Got booze? OvS

The problems I have start once I get a little damage. In my OAW, I couldn't outrun, out-turn, or out manuever them. The only chance I had was to bang hard rudder turns which worked for a little while, but as I came out of one, I realized I was parellel with one heading the opposite way, and his Rear Gunner plugged the hell out of me... down I went. They are very agressive, and true to form. The Brisfit and Salmson 2a2 were the most feared. Especially once the Brisfit was fitted with 2 Lewis guns in the rear. It was a nasty combo. OvS
