What, if the Invasion of the bay of pigs would have been successful and Cuba would have not remained comunistic...
Until the end of 1964, the new Cuban nation remained under the protection of US armed forces since it did not yet have a working military system after the comunistic fall.
At the beginning of 1965, the new Cuban country got fully accepted as a nation by the UN assembly (with exception of the Soviet Union and other comunist countries), Cuba was able to rebuild the industry with the support of US and european companies.
At the same time, the new cuban armed forces began establishing a chain of command and acquiring military equipment, which consisted mostly of used american material, both in air and on ground.
In February 1965, The New Cuban Air Force (Nueva Fuerza Aérea Cubana - NFAC) first received a batch of used Fairchild C-123 Provider Transport aircraft and 24 F-4B Phantom II from the USN in order to rebuild a working air defense capability. In April 1965, the NFAC received another shipment of 36 used F-4Bs. In the same month, the NFAC renamed itself to FAC (Fuerza Aérea Cubana).
