  1. The D.III had extensive testing during original design, and has since had improvements. We can cross quote comments from various sources all day The old DR1 is porked debates rolled on for years in Red Baron days ;) "Albatros Fighter (Farewell to wings, by Cecil Lewis, 1964) cockpit more roomy (than British fighters), made the whole machine seem bigger. machine was sluggish, strong, reliable and determined. It had none of the feeling of lightness and grace that our own machines had. Throwing it around in the sky was hard work. Engine was big and heavy." "Albatros D.III (Sopwith Scout 7309, by Sir Gordon Taylor, Laterally it was quite light on te controls, but in a steep turn pulling the aircraft around with the elevator it seemed quite heavy. I could see immediately why the German pilots kept out of the close duelling turns." But anyway sure when I have a spare moment or twenty (!) I will look again. It wouldn't be for P3 now though as we have moved on and are well into P4. As I say many of these FMs have been around with minor changes for 5 years or so and have generally been well received - considering the bickering that goes on on some other sims. They are comparable to each other, and each craft fits it's role reasonably well I believe. But yep especially as it's you Olham we'll look again :)
  2. Well FM debates can go on for years.. and 5 years later someone has a pop at the D.III ;) D.V was not an improvement from the D.III that it should have been. It was faster, but heavier it was generally thought to be worse. Have you compared altitude performance too Olham D.II and D.III? D.II when I originally made it was more sluggish and worse climb. D.III was not as "nimble" as the N17 design it copied due to much heavier controls. D.II was improved btw, so maybe it's caught up to the D.III - D.III had extensive testing and is one of the core FMs of OFF.
  3. CFS3 QC? or maybe you have some edited aircraft files?
  4. Great images some bits in flight too which is fairly rare. It plays OK for me if I drag the timeline on a few seconds and play it kicks it playing.
  5. Not as far as I know CFS3 doesn't roll the head, and we have no plans to add it and no idea if it's possible. Personally I always turn the roll off or very low in most other sims as it annoys me.
  6. BTW if you backup the configoverrides, yes you can restore it, but it's not foolproof - it will only work if nothing has changed to your video drivers or card since.
  7. Congrats CJ, maybe a little pilot in the making :)
  8. Listen to what the guys are saying Creaghorn. Data is written all the time (capturing what is happening). More aircraft more guns near the frontline = more data. Maybe try a HD defrag first.
  9. Yep that's one possible and will vary from PC to PC as I say. What works for one will not necessarily work for another either. Too much of anything can cause stuttering in games. In that case more aircraft = more textures loading more work for GPU, more for CPU to calculate where they are blah.. more heat etc. So knock back settings, or get better PC/video/drive/CPU/Memory components etc is the usual ..
  10. No idea off hand Creaghorn as we don't see stuttering? If you have a slow or busy hard drive it may do some as we write data during flight. Or maybe you are over doing the cfsconfig sliders - or maybe flying in areas with lots of aicraft and textures loading (need a faster vid card / more memory??) Or maybe your BIOS has CPU throttling enabled (will slow down when hot etc). So 1) It's not something we have seen particularly. 2) Stuttering can happen in any PC game 3) It could be from a zillion places in PC land. If we all saw it, and secondly knew what caused it, then it would be fixed anyway if possible so not sure how else to answer that.
  11. Just a reminder that we don't allow hosting of OFF files anywhere else apart from our website, and authorised mirror sites such as here at CA. If you want an old free patch that is no longer available then it's fine for a moment to upload it and allow a person to download it, but please remove it immediately afterwards.
  12. Hi Tom It's also mentioned in the FAQ see Q33. http://www.overflandersfields.com/FAQ.htm
  13. They already did that supposedly?? The answer is "no idea". We have never sat down and worked out what makes just to run the manager without it breaking (without you clicking anything in menus of course). So there is no "minimum" you need CFS3 and then all of OFF for it to run properly. Please don't send them all your files though. Maybe they need to buy it or just ignore it as all other AV companies seem to do fine.
  14. Yes XP mode or run as admin, or both, sometimes helps Vista and Win7, but as always it seems to vary from machine to machine. Laptops aren't the greatest for games but glad it works for you anyway kananesgi - have fun and thanks for reporting back it may help someone else.
  15. Lol Catch wondered how long it would take anyone to notice the little pic. Now that last one is interesting, imagine flying that just about in the air.. then someone starts firing a revolver at you.
  16. Always good to see more, classic story telling Catch nicely done.
  17. Just thinking Mike can we put a link to it on the website ?
  18. Another cracker, nice one Jammer. Some deadly shooting there!
  19. Nice atmosphere and well done Mike !
  20. Great glad you are up and running skybolt66
  21. Remap it to B in the controls. Works for me.
  22. Did type a large reply, but see it's a duplicate I see this was fixed http://forum.combatace.com/topic/54580-please-help-new-pilot-crash/ BTW the reason your post wasn't approved was due to a problem the admins are trying to solve with the boards currently. It's not the "norm". Also for support this is not "urgent" in this forum section. i.e. we check it, but not constantly. Email support is sometimes quicker if it's not already in the FAQ etc.
  23. It can't use DX11 as with many existing games and sims. Try disabling crossfire and try it, seem to remember some people getting good fps doing that. Try changing AA and Anisotropic filter settings in ATI panel. See FAQ try those settings.
  24. Hardware moves along all the time. Some of us run on 5 but it will tax and cook hardware more, so as always if you have any issues put it back down. Now 5 on P4.. mmm..
