File Name: DH Osprey B.II File Submitter: Stratos File Submitted: 28 July 2017 File Category: What If Hangar De Havilland Osprey B.II by Cocas (what if...) 28/07/2017 Some time ago I requested some updates to the original Osprey by Cocas, a refuelling probe, airbrakes, antenna on the fuselage... cocas made the mod and I made a new skin for strategical use with the RAF in AntiFlash white. As the Osprey B.II does not differ wildly from the I, I retained the original readme and completed with some historical background. As the plane was never used on the desert being based only in UK and Germany, I not included the desert scheme, but the one in the original Osprey will work. For the Malvinas campaign, the green euro cammo should be used. Model by cocas, new antiflash white skin by Stratos on cocas template, decals by Spinners. Thanks a lot guys! Background: Following the exit of the first version of the new De Havilland bird, the RAF aproached De Havilland with a request for a improved variant with Strategic bombing as its designed mission. The requirements were clear, a better range, a refuelling probe and a long range communication radio. De Havilland felt it was pretty easy to complete the task, as the requested features were already imagined for the Osprey, and added another one, big air brakes on the wings. the refuelling probe was a bit more complicated, as it was tested first on the starboard wing, but it was hard to use in flying, specially in bad weather conditions, so a reuleing probe over the cockpit was installed and tested. It came with the risk of spilling gas on the cockpit glass, but simplified the refueling maneuvers a lot, so it was finally selected as the choosen one. The new communication array was based on a dorsal antenna and new radio equipment to be controlled by the copilot, as the plane retained the three man crew. Finally bigger fuel tanks were installed and the new brakes air tested, those brakes improved maneuvers and shortened the landing run quite a bit, and then the prototype was sent to the RAF for testing. Plane was well liked by its crews and the RAf operated 49 of the birs in the nuclear bomber role, both based on UK and in RAf stations in Germany. During the first years the Osprey B.II used the classic Anti Flash white scheme, before converting to a regular cammo scheme as it was seen in the Malvinas campaign before retirement. On the following pics, we can see a recently delivered Osprey B.II in anti flash white belonging to the squadron flying low over the Mach Loop in Wales, training for low level nuclear attack runs on Warsaw Pact targets. TSF Saab 18 Flygvapnet Package
JonathanRL posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
File Name: TSF Saab 18 Flygvapnet Package File Submitter: JonathanRL File Submitted: 06 January 2016 File Category: Other Saab 18 by The Scandinavian Front & Friends. The SAAB 18 was a twin-engine bomber and reconnaissance aircraft, designed and built for use by the Swedish Air Force by Svenska Aeroplan AB (SAAB) in response to a 1938 design competition. Due to delays, it did not enter service until 1944, but quickly became the standard Swedish bomber aircraft. Serving in the bomber, reconnaissance and ground-attack roles, it also assisted in the development of ejection seats and air-to-surface guided missiles until its replacement by the Saab Lansen in the late 1950s. This package contains two Flyable Aircraft. Saab B 18B An upgraded version of the B 18A powered by the Daimler-Benz Engine. Saw most use during the post-war years. Armed with 1x 20mm BOFORS Cannon and a 13mm BOFORS Machinegun. The aircraft is equipped with a bomb sight. Saab T 18B Torpedo & Maritime Patrol Aircraft, first planned to carry a torpedo. As no suitable torpedo was found, the aircraft was redesigned as a ground attack aircraft with a 57mm BOFORS Cannon replacing the bomb bay alongside the Cannon and Machinegun as well as rockets and smaller bombs. The Aircraft is equipped with a bomb sight. INSTALLATION: Install it into the Mod Folder of you choice. Have fun! Northrop Grumman win new Bomber contract (LRSB)
MigBuster posted a topic in Military and General Aviation
http://fightersweep.com/3230/northrop-grumman-awarded-lrs-b-contract/ Earlier this evening at a Pentagon press conference, the United States Air Force announced the result of the long-awaited Long Range Strike-Bomber (LRS-B) competition. The Air Force has awarded the LRS-B contract to Northrop Grumman, manufacturer of the Air Force Global Strike Command‘s B-2 Spirit bomber. The service is expected to procure 100 airframes with a tentative target for IOC in the mid-2020s. -
One of the most extensive videos I have found on the Vigilante. The A-5 and A-3 always seemed to be those big "mysterious" background aircraft you would see in naval aviation photos from the 60s-80s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwYdz-U75fk

B-2A Spirit (Version 0.90)
FastCargo posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
View File B-2A Spirit (Version 0.90) B-2A (Beta) by FastCargo. ********************** Version 0.90 *********************** SF2 Version for Jul 2013 Patch. Original model from tf3dm - 3dregenerator Modifications to import into TW sims by FastCargo Textures and most decals by FastCargo Cockpit, ModPilot, and Aces II seat from B-1B Redux Package by Dels, et al Included weapons from The Ordinance Shop II by 331KillerBee and FastCargo Hanger and Loadout screens credited to the respective individuals Thanks to ST0RM for high res photos allowing me to complete the area around the cockpit Templates for all textures and decals included Any errors are mine... Aircraft include: B-2A - All 21 tail numbers are included in the Block 30 paint scheme (operational). Notes: This release is a beta, and as such, is somewhat incomplete. The cockpit is from the B-1B. A new weapon has been included, the GBU-57 Massive Ordinance Penetrator (MOP). Big boom...but only one per bay. JASSMs have been slightly modded to have more realistic flight performance. The weapon bay loads have been built to realistically hold the proper number and types of weapons the real B-2A could carry. The FM has been tweaked to allow the player and AI to fly with reasonable accuracy. There are still a few bugs...mainly the AI likes to be nose down during the approach and landing. Also, there can be weapon bay visual errors when the AI is dropping weapons (ie the bay doors may not open). The weapon bay errors are limitations in the code that can't be fixed...it has to do with more than one weapon station using the same bay door animation slot. We are still working to squash the remaining issues...and one day we will have a proper cockpit for this machine. Have fun...report any crippling bugs (except trying to use it in SFP1/WOV/WOE/WOI...you're on your own) in the release thread at CA.
