    4. Viper's Massive Collection of Insignias, Emblems and Patches

My massive collection of aircraft and related insignias, emblems and patches!
I forgot to mention, I didn't create all of these...didn't mean to imply I made them all...I collected them from all over...here and the net...
I could not find the source (CombatAce Links) for some of the items, (didn't remember where I got it from) so I removed them...sorry about that...
      Enjoy!

    6. StrikeFighter2 World War II Pacific Theater (PTO) Hi-Res 1920x1080 Menu Screens and Music! Version 3

StrikeFighter2 World War II PTO Hi-Res Alternate 1920x1080 Menu Screens and Music!
      By Viper

I just recently downloaded the "All inclusive SF2 Pacific Theater Operations" (PTO) package from the A-Team site. Excellent package, but the menus were not to my liking...soooo...I upgraded them. These menu screens are tailored for that package, but it should work for any SF2 game with a Pacific WWII theme!

You should unzip the file and preview the new screens before installing them. I recommend doing to see if you like the screens before installing them.

If you choose to install these screens, I recommend that you back up (make a copy of) your FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folders in the SF2 Mod folder you're installing this mod into. Just in case you want to go back to your original setup.

To install, simply unzip and copy the uncompressed FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folders to your StrikeFighter2 mod folder.

To remove, simply delete the FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folders and rename the copies you made to FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folders.

My StrikeFighter2 mod on Win97\10 64-bit would be something like...

      C:\Users\<your_id>\Saved Games\Thirdwire\<Name of your PTO mod folder>\

      Enjoy!

PS. Check out my Init Screen mod in the "InitScreen Extra" folder...

StrikeFighter2 World War II (ETO) Hi-Res 1920x1080 Menu Screens and Music!
      By Viper

This mod includes custom "World War II" themed menu screens and pilots for the ETO package I hope someone will make in the future (if not already made that I don't know about). You should unzip the file and preview the new screens before installing them. I recommend doing this as there are MANY alternate screens I have in there that you might like better.

    8. Medals Pack for SF2: WW2 Finland

This pack is intended to complement The Dev A-Team's all-inclusive mod Strike fighters 2 WW2 Finland, dedicated to the aerial campaigns over the Gulf of Finland and the Barents Sea during the Winter War and Continuation War. You are given here extensive lists of awards with related medals and citations, and a handful of minor assets (alternative lists of ranks, counters, etc). Of course, all of this work could also complement ShrikeHawk's mod about The Continuation War, available at CombatAce's downloads for SF2.

Three Medals lists have actually been designed for the Finns, the first one related to the Winter War (1939-40), the second to the first part of the Continuation War (1941-42), the third to its last part (1943-44). The earlier lists grant much more lenient criteria to be awarded the same distinctions you could also receive after 1942 spending more sweat, but above all prevent you to receive awards unavailable before they were established. For instance, besides harsher requirements, the 1943-44 list adds the Order of the Lion of Finland, established by the end of 1942, and also makes a few German decorations available when the Nazis at bay tried to forge closer ties with their loose co-belligerent.

In the same way of thinking, two Medals lists are provided for the Soviets, 1939-42 and 1943-45 (several older designs before 1943, many new orders established mid-42 and awarded by 1943, harsher requirements for awarding after 1943). Of course, the WW2 Soviet packs could be used with The Dev A-Team's all-inclusive mod for SF1 Wings over Russia, and for any mods involving the Soviet Air Forces during WW2.

You’ll just have to juggle with national Medals Lists according to the period of the War when you plan to start your campaigns. Regarding these lists, everything has been especially designed, when swapping files during an extensive career, for the decorations you were awarded with an older list both to be preserved with original look and citations, and not to be awarded a second inappropriate time thereafter. Don’t worry, everything is meticulously explained with several examples in my notes.

As you can notice on the screenshots, I chose to have the citations display the decorations’ names in original language without subtitle. Who can read Finnish here, raise your hand? Be easy, the awards you deserved are still announced in English on the Debrief Screen, and listed in English on your pilot’s Medal List Screen.

    10. Strike Fighters 2: Israel Music Pack for Post-1967 Installs

This music pack is an updated and expanded version of my original Strike Fighters Israel Music pack for the first generation Wings Over Israel game.

As the name suggests, this pack is intended to provide appropriate menu music for your enhanced enjoyment of this great game.

Because you have potentially two seperate SF2 Israel installs, one covering 1948 - 1956 and another covering 1967 - 1982 and beyond, I have created a music pack for each era.

      -----------------------------------
      Installation:

      1) Unzip the folders to a temp folder and then depending on your install select either Strike Fighters2 Israel (for your post-1967 install) or Strike Fighters2 Exp 1 (for your 1948 - 1956 install)
      2) Copy the Menu folder within your selected folder to your Mod folder and allow it to overwrite.
      3) Fire up the game and go fly over the turbulent skies of the Middle East.

      -----------------------------------

      Track Listings:

      (1) Strike Fighters2 Israel

MainScreen.wav - 'Israeli Air Force 50th Anniversary Theme'

      SingleMissionScreen.wav - 'Janes IAF Theme'

HangarRadio1.wav - 'The Raid' from the movie 'Raid On Entebbe'

DebriefSuccess.wav - 'Chom Yuli-Ogust - July August Heat' by Shlomo Artzi

DebriefFail.wav - 'Im In Alu - If The Doors Are Locked' by Ofra Haza

DebriefKilled.wav - 'Eretz Hatzvi - The Land of Deer' by Talma Alyagon Raz (Lyrics) and Dov Zeltzer (Music), and performed by Yehoram Gaon, from the movie 'Operation Thunderbolt'

OptionsScreen.wav - 'Eretz Hatzvi - The Land of Deer' (Instrumental) from the movie 'Operation Thunderbolt'

      (2) Strike Fighters2 Exp 1

MainScreen.wav - Theme from the movie 'Exodus'

SingleMissionScreen.wav - 'The Road to Jerusalem' from 'Cast A Giant Shadow'

HangarRadio1.wav - 'The Gathering of Forces' from the movie 'Cast a Giant Shadow'

DebriefSuccess.wav - Song of the Israeli Air Force - 'On Silver Wings' performed by the Israel Army Band under the direction of Colonel Yitzhak Graziani

DebriefFail.wav - 'Shir HaPalmach' - 'Song of the Palmach'(The Palmach were the forerunner of the IDF)

DebriefKilled.wav - 'Yerushalayim Shel Zahav - Jerusalem of Gold' by Naomi Shemer and performed by the Dor L’Dor Singers

OptionsScreen.wav - 'Land of Hope' from the movie 'Cast a Giant Shadow'

      -----------------------------------

I've included a document with translations of the songs in the debrief screens, as well as some biographical details of the artists/composers which can serve as a starting point if you want to get into this in more detail.

      -----------------------------------

All of the above music tracks are free downloads from various record company websites in various formats and have been converted to the correct format for use in game by me.

There are therefore no file sharing issues in respect of this music pack.

      Enjoy.

    13. Modern Russian Federation Medals Pack

This pack is mostly intended to complement other works (campaigns) that YOU modder would like to design, involving the post-Cold War Russian Air Force as a flyable belligerent. Like my recent Medals Pack for Modern Ukraine, it allows campaign modders to explore both sides of local conflicts in the Black Sea / Sea of azov areas (using PFunk’s Black Sea 2.0a map). But it could also be used in modern what-if campaigns designed on many other maps bordering the Russian Federation (North Cape, Kamchatka, Korea/Manchuria...). And the recent involvement of President Putin's pilots in Syria (October 2015) gives new opportunities of campaigns where this pack could prove useful.

The complete list of your available decorations is displayed here. Two panels have actually been designed, one for the Russian Federation before 2010 and one thereafter. While my work focuses on Russia’s conspicuous second wind in the 2010s, it seemed important to reflect the changes that happened on that year: not only did the Russian Air Force’s aircraft begin to display a new design for its insignias (the three-coloured star, see below), but also the Russian system of awards underwent large reforms in September 2010, with design and/or purpose of several orders and medals completely modified.

      Russian Federation Air Force

Gold Star of Hero of the Russian Federation (2 possible awards)

Order of St. George (4th Class)

[available only in the post-2010 pack]

Order For Merit to the Fatherland

(3rd & 4th Classes, each one awarded only once in turn)

      Order of Alexander Nevskiy

[design and purpose completely reformed in 2010]

      Order of Zhukov

      Order of Suvorov

[3rd Class before 2010, single Class new design thereafter]

      Order of Kutuzov

[3rd Class before 2010, single Class new design thereafter]

Order of Courage (multiple awards possible)

      Order For Military Merit

Cross of St. George (4 Classes, each one awarded only once in turn)

Medal of the Order For Merit to the Fatherland

(2 Classes, each one awarded only once in turn)

Medal For Bravery (multiple awards possible)

Medal of Zhukov (2 possible awards, available only in the post-2010 pack)

Medal of Nesterov (multiple awards possible)

      Medal For Distinction in Combat

[Ministry of Defense, available only in the post-2010 pack]

Medal For Military Valor (2 Classes, each one awarded only once in turn)

[Ministry of Defense, available only in the post-2010 pack]

    14. Modern Ukrainian Medals Pack - October 2015 Update

This mod provides quite a complete panel of the awards available to the Ukrainian military by our 2010s. It is mostly intended to complement other works (campaigns) that YOU modder would like to design, using PFunk’s Black Sea 2.0a map covering Crimea and the Sea of Azov, and the tragically rich events of Year 2014 there (and plausible prospects of even more tragic moments to come). Such hypothetical campaigns could explore various kinds of conflicts involving NATO forces, from a frantic all-out war, to local operations to recover Crimea or clear the Southern Donbass area, to a latent conflict limited to aerial skirmishes and incursions over some NATO-enforced no-fly zone, etc...

The complete list of your available decorations is displayed here :

      Ukrainian Air Force

Gold Star of Hero of Ukraine (2 possible awards)

Order For Merit (3 Classes, each one awarded only once in turn)

Order of Bogdan Khmelnytskiy (3 Classes, each one awarded only once in turn)

Order For Courage (3 Classes, each one awarded only once in turn)

      Order of Daniel of Galicia

Medal for Military Service to Ukraine (multiple awards possible)

      Defender of the Homeland Medal

      Honor and Valor Distinction

Appreciation For Valiant Military Service to the Fatherland

Appreciation For Achievements in Military Service

(2 Classes, each one awarded only once in turn)

Pilot's qualification wings (4 Classes, each one awarded only once in turn)

Beware, none of these awards did exist in 1994 when Ukraine was still a newborn nation, so this awards panel should not be suitable as is for your installation of the SF2NA: Black Sea Crisis campaign. Fortunately, I have also enclosed alternative citations with postponed dates of awarding, that makes this panel acceptable for campaigns set in 1994/1996.

October 2015 Update : adds air & ground counters, new medals (Order of Courage 1st & 2nd Classes, Distinction of the Ministry of Defense, pilot's qualification badges...), and completely reshuffles criteria for awarding for better realism and accordance with the Russian medals pack to come soon – with citations rewritten accordingly.

    15. SF2 Area 51 Test Pilot Hi-Res 1024x768 Menu Screens!

      SF2 Area 51 Test Pilot Hi-Res 1024x768 Menu Screens!
      By Viper

So, I do a lot of mod testing, I hate testing a new mod on an existing install I play on, so I have a dedicated install using the Nellis Terrain pack for testing new mods. This is the menu screens I use for that install. However, you can use these screens for any SF2 series if you like.

      1) Creating a new mod install...First, you need to create a new Tester Mod game and folder. You can use any SF2 Series Game as a base. In your install folder (the merged Thirdwire folder), copy and renamed "StrikeFighter2 Europe" (exe and ini file) to "StrikeFighter2 Area51" (I used "StrikeFighter2 Europe" for my tester base - you don't have to). Run it to create the "Saved Game" mod folder.

      2) Unzip and copy the uncompressed FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folders from this package to your new StrikeFighter2 mod folder.

My StrikeFighter2 mod folder on Win7 64-bit was..(yours may be different)...

      C:\Users\<your_id>\Saved Games\Thirdwire\StrikeFighter2 Area51\

      3) To remove the new mod folder, just delete it and you're done. If you want to reset your tester install, rerun "StrikeFighter2 Area51" and copy the menus back into the reset mod folder.

      4) Test more mods in a new clean tester install...

      Enjoy!

    16. SF2 Upgraded F-16 Hangar, Loading and Loadout screens for F-16 Mod Packs By the Viper Team!

SF2 Upgraded F-16 Hangar, Loading and Loadout screens for F-16 Mod Packs By the Viper Team!
By Me (No relations to the Viper Team!)

This is my upgraded F-16 Hangar, Loading and Loadout screens for most excellent F-16 Mods from "The Viper Team"'s (and one from dtmdragon - ADF) F-16 Mod packs. What I did was downloaded the F-16 packs from here...

      http://combatace.com/files/category/666-f-16/

Then I combined them up. Upgraded all the Hangar, Loading, Loadout screen files. Then deleted everything but the Hangar, Loading, Loadout screen files to keep the folder structure. In theory, you should be able to copy my pack into your SF2 Mod folder, BUT I CAN'T RECOMMEND THAT since I don't know what F-16 you installed or how.

      * Why did I do this?

I must be OCD, but I like all my Hangar and Loading screens to have the same format. I tried to match most of the plane to actual pix of planes for the Hangar and Loading screen. In many of the cases, I has to use generic planes because I could not find a decent picture of the plane.

Ok, this install is abit more complicated than my other mod/update/upgrades, but it's worth it. Well it was worth it for me.

      * What is included in this pack:

      *HANGAR.JPG
      *LOADING.JPG
      *LOADOUT.TGA
*NOTHING ELSE, NO LODS, SKINS, INIs....etc.

      * What is changed:

Upgrades F-16 Hangar, Loading and Loadout screens in "...\Objects\Aircraft" only!

      Installation:

      * BEFORE YOU OVERWRITE ANYTHING - BACKUP!!!!

      1) Sniper approach...

Take a look in my "*\To_Mod_Folder\Objects\Aircraft" folder. If you see a plane you have and want to upgrade with my screens, copy the screen files, one at a time, to your plane in your SF2 "...\Objects\Aircraft" Mod folder.

      2) Shotgun approach...

Backup your SF2 ""...\Objects\Aircraft" mod folder, and then copy the contents of my "To_Mod_Folder" folder to your SF2 mod folder. If you don't have the plane I have, you will just get some extra folders in your SF2 mod folder and waste some space. If something goes nuts, then you have your backup? Right?

That's pretty much it...If I can sell (free, not money or anything - LOL) "The Viper Team" on these screens, it would just come "The Viper Team'S" F-16 packs...LOL, not pushing anything...just wishing. Love your work!!

      ------------------------------------------
Credits to "the Viper Team" for their Excellent F-16 Mods. Also and again, I have no associations with the Viper Team. We jut share the name and the admiration for F-16s - that is all.

      Enjoy!

StrikeFighter2 World War II PTO Hi-Res Alternate 1024x768 Menu Screens and Music!

I recently downloaded the "All inclusive SF2 Pacific Theater of Operations" (PTO) package from the A-Team site. Excellent package, but the menus were not to my liking...soooo...I upgraded them. These menu screens are tailored for that package, but it should work for any SF2 game with a Pacific WWII theme!

Note: These are new Menu Screens for the A-Team PTO Package - NOT THE A-TEAM PTO PACKAGE. If you want the SF2 Pacific Theater of Operations package, you will have to download it from the A-Team site. A little tricky getting registered, but I recommend it!

You should unzip the file and preview the new screens before installing them. I recommend doing this as there are MANY alternate screens I have in there that you might like better.

My StrikeFighter2 mod on Win97 64-bit would be something like...

      C:\Users\<your_id>\Saved Games\Thirdwire\<Name of your PTO mod folder>\

      Enjoy!

These are upgraded/Alternate Hangar, Loading, Loadout Screens for The Hornet Team's F/A-18A/B/C/D Version 2.0 package and new <Aircraft>.ini files to read them. It was released by Dave and can be downloaded here. If the The Hornet Team team saw fit to add this to their pack, I would be grateful.

These replaces/adds to The Hornet Team's package (STOCK ONLY) released on 11 Jan 2015. This (my) package DOES NOT include any LODs or other files from the Hornet team. It does include a new <AirCraft>.ini files so the right screens are read for display.

First!!! Always backup F/A-18s in your "...\Objects\Aircraft" folder. To install, copy the new "Airctaft" folder into your mod "Objects" folder. Overwrite and you're done.

      Enjoy!

    25. My Collection of F-16 Fighting Falcon (for Dave?) Hangar and Loading Screens!

My Collection of F-16 Fighting Falcon Hangar and Loading Screens!
      By Viper 07/01/2015

My collection of F-16 Hangar and Loading Screens. I used these to replace the Hangar and Loading screens in my F-16 mod downloads. Namely the excellent F-16 Mods from Dave and company!

You may have to edit the Aircraft (eg. F-16A.ini) file to use these Hangar and loading screens. Or rename these files to the ones called out in the <Aircraft>.ini file.

Also included are the photoshop templates I used to make all these screens (about 90 Hangar and Loading screens, total about 180 files).

You can mix them, match them and use them however you like...but give me some credit if you use them in a mod you release to the public.

      Thanks and enjoy the screens!
