    6. Black Skin for U-2A

      Black U-2 Add-on for the Lockheed U-2A Pack Released by Wrench
      by Viper63a

      This is an add-on skin so you will need the Lockheed U-2A Pack Released by Wrench installed first. You can download that "gem" here...

      http://combatace.com/files/file/11575-lockheed-u-2a-for-sf2/

      While I was creating my own Hangar and Loading screens, I noticed most of the U2s in the pix were black. So I changed one of the skins to black. I didn't just darken the skin, I recreated each panel to retain the detail and quality of the original. Optional Hangar and Loading screens are included.

      Also available in this pack is an optional U2 (modified A12) Pilot in orange flight suit. To use this pilot, you will have to change the [Pilot] section of the "U-2_DATA.INI" file to use the "PilotModelName=U2PilotLate"...

      This is a new skin, so there should be no conflicts...but I recommend that you back up your mod folder just in case.

      * To install, simply unzip and copy the contents of the "To_Mod_Folder" folder to your StrikeFighter2 mod folder you have installed Wrech's pack to and Overwrite (if needed).

      My StrikeFighter2 mod on Win97 64-bit was..(yours may be different)...

      C:\Users\<your_id>\Saved Games\Thirdwire\StrikeFighter2...

      For more info, read the "Original_sf2_u2_pak_readme.txt"...I mean read it, there is some good stuff about flying the U2 in the original readme.

      Enjoy!

    7. 3rd Wire VA-176 A-1H Template

      A long time project of mine...

      This is my template for the STOCK 3rd Wire A-1H Skyraider. It depict the VA-176 A-1H with the "BEE" scheme. As this is my first skin and did not want to be too complicated, this is a single layer one. With time, i will surely evolve :)

      Just unzip the folder in your object/aircraft/a-1h directory.

      Add the following in the A-1H.ini :

      [TextureSetXXX]
      Directory=VA176BEE
      Name=VA176BEE
      Nation=USN
      Squadron=VA-176 "Thunderbolts"
      Specular=0.000000
      Glossiness=0.000000
      Reflection=0.000000

      XXX stands for the number in sequence.

      I added another squadron patch then the VA-176 one used in the A-1 skin pack made by Wrench. So if you have then (hope you have) you will be able to find mine in the drop down list.

      This skin is for an A-1 right out of the paint shop, so don't expect a dirty one here!

      the template is jpeg format 2048 x 2048.

      Work done on the skin : wings, body, tail, weapons pylons, tail wheel, main wheels, tail hook, engine, propeller and interior of the speed brakes.

      Now it's yours to enjoy!

    8. SF2 USAF 1950s & Later C-47 Skytrain Skin Pack

      SF2 USAF 1950s & Later C-47 Skytrain Skin Pack 6/10/2015

      = For SF2 (Full 5 Merged RECCOMENDED, PLUS SF2I EXPANSION SET 1 ) =

      **You =MUST= have SF2 Expansion Pack 1 to have access to the stock 3W C-47!!!**

      Reskins of the stock 3W C-47 skytrain, representing USAF aircraft of the 1950s, and from the mid-50s thru the 1970s.
      This package contains 2 skins (names reflect the actual folder names. Displayed names may/will be different):

      USAF Arctic 1:

      (displays as same)
      As based at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, and seen in many "points North". The aircraft carries the standard Alaska Air Command early 50s style of red tail and outer wings; and also has the Air Rescue Service yellow band and fuselage placard, with the AAC badge on the tail. Research has indicated either the 17th or 54th Troop Carrier Squadrons (which were based at Elmendorf in the early 1950s). This skin is also representative of the Skytrain as seen in the movie "The Thing from Another World (1951)". That aircraft is represented, including it's nose art. See Notes for more details on "Tropical Tilly".

      USAF NM 2:

      (displays as USAF NM/White (Late) )
      This skin uses the SF2 date switch, and will turn on in 1955.
      Standard post-1955, natural metal with heat refelctive white painted upper cabin (fuselage). Carries no unit or numbered AF badges, not even the MATS badge. Serial numbers carry the "0" (zero) prefix, designating aircraft 10 or more years of age.

      All markings are decals, and decal randomization is TRUE. While serial numbers are correct for the aircraft depicted, they should be considered 'generic' in nature, as they represent no specific aircraft or unit. 18 serial number decals are provided for each aircraft. Skins remain in bmp format (I was lazy!)
      Also included are the cockpit (for those that haven't made it flyable yet) updated/revamped data, avionics, userlist inis, plus pilot figures and engine sound. I've also given you my (patent-pending) "One Click Restore" main ini. There are no hangar or loading screens for either of these 2 skins (I lied -- there's one. You'll see it!).

      As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for the install instructions.

      Happy Landings!

    9. VA-34 A-4B Skyhawk Bay of Pigs

      During the 1961 Bay of Pigs Invasion VA-34 A-4B Skyhaks from the USS Essex flew a CAP/ escort mission with the intention of protecting the Rebal A-26 Invaders but due to a timing cock up were an hour late and missed engaging the Cuban T-33A fighters.  They also flew multiple reconnaissance flights over the invasion beach throughout the incident. Due to President Kennedy insisting that there be no proof of US involvement the Skyhawks had their USN markings painted over. There are no photos of these aircraft and very few of VA-34 during that time period so I have based these skins off the only photo I can find specifically of VA-34 during the Bay of Pigs Invasion as well as one from later that year. These photos are of aircraft that did not have their markings painted over however. There is an alternative skin based on a drawing Statos posted which I think makes a way cooler looking Aircraft but is unlikely to be historically accurate.
      Credit goes to TW, Stratos and Nyghtfall.
      If you do create a Bay of Pigs USN A-4B v FAR T-33A remember the A-4B could not carry the AIM-9 at this point and Skyhawks operating over Cuba just had two wing drop tanks plus thier 20mm cannons. Change the Aircraft role from 'attack' to 'fighter' in the A-4B_data.ini file if you want better AI performance from your wingmen.

    10. SF2:E F-86F-40 Sabre, USAFE Skin Pak Part 3

      SF2:E F-86F-40 Sabre, USAFE Skin Pak Part 3 2/11/16

      -- For SF-2, FULL-5 merged, Reccomended --

      This mod is third (and hopefully final) skin/decal pack represening F-86F Sabres as used by the USAFE.
      It can (and should) be applied to the recently uploaded "SF2:E F-86F-40 Sabre, USAFE Skin Pak
      available at the following url:

      http://combatace.com/topic/88262-sf2e-f-86f-40-sabre-usafe-skin-pak/

      It is adivsed you have Part 1 & Part 2 installed in the SF2:E mods folder first.
      In other words, like Parts 1 & 2, this is a European-centric skin/decals package only!!

      In this package are skins for Sabres from the 21st FBW, USAFE, in the mid-1950s ...

      72nd FDS (Red
      416th FBS (Med. Blue)
      531st FBS (Yellow)

      Almost all markings are decals, however the squadron nose & tail markings (colors & stars) are painted on. A fake "SqTail" decal is used to activate the Squadron Displayed Name on the Loadout Screen (these are stock units, listed in the game's SquadronList.ini). All skins use a "pool" of serial Serial and buzz numbers; while these should be considered 'generic' in nature, are for the variant depicted. Decal randomization is TRUE. All skins are in jpg format.

      As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them! Also, as this mod pack is specificly designed for an SF2:E (Europe) install,

      Just so we're clear on everything, once again, this is for use in Europe (SF2:E) ONLY!!!

      Happy Landings!

    11. F-4C_67 557th TFS 1969

      A new historical skin and decals for F-4C_67 Phantom II.
      Based on Sundowner great template slightly modified removing and/or deleting some markings and stencils and adding some more weathering here and there.Also I changed the colors of the belly aux doors and the area of the BLC .
      Started as a tribute to my friend (then) Capt. Gene Korotky, flying with the Squadron during his tour of duty in 1968-69.
      My original idea was to realize only SANDY BAY-BEE,the plane assigned to Capt. Korotky, and in some way I involved Paulopanz to help me with the decals; but the skill of Paulopanz are so high and Gene sent me so much pics and first hand refs that we decided to create a whole mod ...
      CREDITS AND THANKS:
      - Sundowner for is great work on the original template
      - Paulopanz that create almost all the decals and improved those created by me and had the patience and will to teach me many things!
      - Capt. Gene Korotky for all the references
      ABOUT CREW NAMES:
      We tried to add as more historically correct pilots names as possible, but it must be noted that crew names on the aircraft changed since the tours in Vietnam were for one year, meaning a constant changeover of personnel.

      WHAT INSIDE:
      The mod include a new skin and decals, a background file writed by Gene with info about the 12th TFW of which the 557th TFS was part and pics of the Squadron at the time of his 1968-69 tour of duty taken by Gene Korotky

      TO INSTALL:
      - As always all in main mod folder and that's all!
      Good hunting

    16. Historical F-4B/J BuNos

      BuNo/ Serial Number mod for Stock F-4B and F-4Js

      This is a mod to add historical BuNos to the stock Phantoms. when researching Bunos for other Phantom models, i got the numbers for the
      B and J models first then took one hundred that survived to be retired as N or S models and did not crash with fatalities. this mod features the
      B and J numbers i started with,as well as the BuNos for the mig killers. I also adjusted data ini for smokier engines.

      ALL numbers after 099 are historical MiG killers, with a few that were already in the ones i had previously completed

      Installation: open the main folder, then the Stock folder. add the 3 folders inside to the mod folder of your choice, allowing overwrites and merges.
      if you have the USN/USMC DLC skinpack (DLC18) then open the DLC folder and follow the same directions above.

      Included: over 100 Buno's with 4 digit big and full Buno small for the F-4B and J
      adjusted decal ini's for all relevant skins
      spillone104s J79 effects and data.ini conversion to put them to use
      loading screens for each type

      ***************IMPORTANT NOTICE******************IMPORTANT NOTICE************************************************************************************
      This pack focuses on the gull gray over white and overall gull gray schemes. The Marines gave up the last B's in 1978, and the J's were retired around 1983.
      It was the N's and S's that wore most of the camo schemes and so i did not add any other color numbers than black. anyone wanting different colors is welcome
      to PM me for a tutorial on how to change decals in GIMP. this is again intended for the stock skins, not a major rework of the skins/decals
      ***************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
      CREDITS
      TK for the overall game
      Spillone104 for the J79 exhaust effect
      macelena, Slartibartfast, Muesli and whiteknight0664 and for being my crash test volunteers in checking this thing

      A simple reskin/redecaling for the recently released F-84G Upgrade Pak.

      This skin represent Euro-style camoflaged Thunderjets of the Royal Danish Air Force. They were painted such (as what little data seems available) during the later years of their service. The skin itself is a repainted/relined version of the 1stGen JRV (Yugoslavian AF) skin by Homer. I just retouched some bits to remove other bits! Full credit goes to him for the skin (wherever he may be).

    22. KC-135 Skinpack 3: Late 1980s

      USAF KC-135 Skinpack 3: Late 1980s
      This skin pack will feature skins for all USAF KC-135 users from the late 1980s. This includes the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserves. Many of the skins serials and nose arts are the same as in ODS, which the aircraft would participate in a few years after this period. This also represents the era that the Shamu scheme became more common and that nose art made a comeback on USAF aircraft.
      Requirements:
      any version of Strike Fighters 2, and the KC-135 mod found here

      Installation:
              first, get the Mirage Factory C-135A/B and KC-135A/E/R 1.0 from the above link (if you dont have it already)
              then unzip this to the mod folder, allowing overwrites.

      Known Issues:
              this is meant as eye candy. unfortunately, SF2 doesn't support air to air refueling so the best to be done is set up a recon mission and then park it in an orbit.
              Also, Dels C-130 pit does not line up with the model very well. it is included mainly so that it can be player selected (i had to test it somehow).
              Loading more than 8 aircraft on a mission will produce irregularities (like only the front half of the camo showing).
              So far I have not seen more than 8 on a ramp, and it is doubtful you need to load more than that in one area for a mission. Just be warned if you throw all 16 in at once.

              BTW, this thing is big, coming in over 2 1/4 GB size
      So, Whats Included?:
          Skins with at least two examples from every USAF unit to fly the KC-135 during the late 80s, with separate skins for Active Duty and
          reserve forces
          Colors represented include ADC gray, and Shamu dark grey over medium grey. Shamu is added as tga for a mix within each skin
          Engines on the A models were adjusted to produce heavy smoke at max thrust. Burning water, just like the real thing.
          Drogue add on to simulate refueling probe equipped aircraft. Added in loadout screen
