  1. SF2 Mescalero Proving Grounds Part 3

    The Apache Spirit Dancers have brought forth some more target drones for your new range. This is DRONE PACKAGE #2 for the Mescalero Proving Grounds. Please be sure to have parts 1 and 2 already installed.
    INCLUDED with this package are the following NEW target drones and BONUS aircraft:

    THE QF-9J Cougar: Former front line carrier fighter of the USN. An AGRESSIVE drone of good manueverabilty
    but no countermeasures.Operated by permanent USN detachment from China Lake. Type was
    fully expended by 1975.

    THE PQM-102A DELTA DAGGER: Former front line USAF interceptor. Retired and placed in AMARC storage,Arizona.
    Recalled for target drone use in 1975 because of its performance simularities to
    the Soviet Mig-21. An AGGRESSIVE drone of fair manueverability and limited counter-
    measures. Type fully expended by 1986.

    THE CQM-10B BOMARC: Former USAF air defense missile. Retired in 1972 and converted for target drone use.
    A PASSIVE drone of poor manueverability BUT SUPERIOR SPEED!! A pair of ramjet engines
    can hold MACH 1.7 over the range and MACH 3.5 at higher altitudes. Limited countermeasures.
    A "shoot quick or it's gone" target. Designed to simulate the MIG-25 Foxbat or SR-71 type
    recon aircraft. Ground launched via self contained booster rocket.

    THE QT-38A Talon: Former USAF supersonic Advanced Trainer. Obtained by USN in 1975. and converted to target drone.
    Retrofitted with belly-pod containing limited countermeasures. A passive drone of fair/good manuever-
    ability. Operated by permanent USN detachment from China Lake. Type still operational but retirement
    is immenent.

    THE QF-4B Phantom II: Former front line carrier fighter of the USN. An AGRESSIVE drone of good manueverabilty
    and good countermeasures.Operated by rotating USN detachment from US NAVAL MISSILE CENTER in.
    Point Mugu,Calif. Type was fully expended by 1990.

    --------------DRONE CONTROLLER-------------------

    THE FJ3-D2 Fury: Drone controller conversion of the FJ-3 Fury. Pilot can assume command of errant drones and activate
    self-destruct mechanism via radio control. Armed with (4x) 20mm cannon as secondary termination
    choice. Operated on a limited utility basis from 1955 until 1966.

    -------------RANGE "HUNTER KILLER" AIRCRAFT------(one of my personal favorites!!)

    THE F4D-1 Skyray: Short-lived, front line carrier fighter of the USN and later USMC. Designed as an interceptor for the fleet.
    Holder of several speed and climb-to altitude records of its day. Has (4x) 20mm cannon in wings with limited
    ammo. Primarily designed to intercept with unguided "Mighty Mouse" rockets in external pods. Can be con-
    figured to use early sidewinder missiles instead. Capable, but NOT USED for air/ground operations (due to wing
    stress problems). Limited internal fuel makes drop-tanks neccesary. VERY limited combat time over range
    once tanks are dropped.....WATCH YOUR FUEL!! Non-carrier use over land requires carrying of external
    NAVPAC which contains needed avionics for navigation (VOR-OMNI) and instrument apporach use (ILS). This pack
    is non-droppable and carried on centerline. Your Skyray wears the colors of FAGU.....the Fleet Air Gunnery Unit,Pacific
    out of NAAS ElCentro,Calif. 1958.

  2. Libya Map Tweeks, for 2011

    Lybia Terrain - 2011 Updates
    Found this while looking for something else!

    Way back in March, 2011, when the New Libyan Revolution started, a couple of CombatAce members asked me to add a couple of new cities. In particular, those where the fighting was heaviest at the time - Bin Jawd and Ra's Lanuf.

    This is the result -- just some very minor tweeks and retiling/retargeting to add these 2 places. No other major changes are in effect.

    As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them!!

  3. Formosa Terrain, Limited Nations Tweek

    Formosa Terrain, Limited nations Fix

    This little tweek for Gepard's Formosa terrain will add the LimitedNations usage, cutting down on the chance of any unwanted visitors to the playground showing up.

    This mod consists of the Formosa.ini and Formosa_Nations.ini. Nothing anywhere else is changes; it only creates a 'fixed' number of countries that are allowed here. This tweek, while designed for SF2 series, will also work in SF/Wo* 1st Gens at the 08 patch level, if you've back-converted this terrain to work in 08s.

    As always, it's suggested you read this little readme. It's acutally quite short and pretty easy to follow. For a change.

    No screenie included.

  4. Open Ocean Carrier Battle Map

    This terrain is Starys Water-Only terrain, adjusted to be a Carrier duelling ground. It has two Carrier Stations and a few
    waypoints, as well as movement data to attack Convoys. There is no interference by ground based aircraft whatsoever, both Carriers
    has to rely on what they have available on their decks and is thus perfect for single missions. The Terrain can however also
    be used for Sea-Based Campaigns.

    Installation:
    Simply unzip into the Mod Folder of your choice.

    IMPORTANT NOTICE:
    This Terrain requires Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic

    This Terrain may require some management of your Ground Objects. The key to this Terrain is the Ocean_NATIONS.INI. This needs to be adjusted to create the scenario you wish.
    As of right now, it is set to USN vs Soviet. It is imperative that you choose a year where both nations have a Carrier; regardless of the nations chosen. Do note that
    it does not have to be a Red vs Blue Scenario. Brazilian Navy vs Indian Navy, Indian Navy vs US Navy, Soviet Navy vs Brazilian Navy and onwards are all fun combinations
    in their own way. Not to mention the classic "Argentine Navy vs Royal Navy" ;-)

    To spawn a Carrier Group, there needs to be a Carrier and Escorts. Make sure the Carrier can house the intended aircraft!

    Troubleshooting:
    There are a few issues that may arise with this terrain, and all of them are based on your Ground Objects:

    My Nations/Enemy Carrier is not spawning:
    Check that you added the correct nation in the Nations.ini
    Check that the Carrier can carry the size of your aircraft (Some carriers can only house "Small" Aircraft and will not spawn if you chosen a "Medium" aircraft)
    Make sure the Carrier has a Name List.

    My Carrier has no Escorts:
    Make sure you have nation-appropriate Escorts. Escorts are ships designated as Crusiers, Destroyers and Frigates. This is done in the vessels Data file (WarshipClass=FRIGATE)
    For some nations, you can download Escorts but for others, you need to edit them for the nation you wish to use.

    Recommended Mods for use with this Terrain:
    Soviet Navy Vertical Pack
    WW2 Naval Units
    SF2: NA Ultimate Carriers Pack
    CVN Ulyanovsk
    Recommend you look in the Add-On Ships Section for anything else you may need. Paulopanz has also uploaded several Airplane + Carrier Packages that are worth checking out.

  5. "Waterworld" Terrain

    "Waterworld" Terrain for SF2

    Full-4 Merged (Reccomened) and/or SF2:V

    Just a bit of silliness. I was asked to create a 'quick and dirty' mostly ocean terrain by Fubar512, so he could test some ship mods. This is it. Just a little something fun, and slightly different. Yes, there are Easter Eggs. In fact, the WHOLE map is an Easter Egg!

    This terrain contains 2 land-airfields (one for each side) and 6 CV stations; 3 each for Blue and Red. I made use of the "Allowed Missions" statement, so you won't be seeing any CAS or Armed Recons (with no place to drive too...well, you get the idea). Plenty of shipping routes, however.

    No tiles (excepting one special, and one for use with GH3) are included with this, but it uses the VietnamSEA tile set, as pointed to via the 'use this cat' statement in the terrain's main ini. If one wished to, you can easily just drop Stary's GH3 set, or any other Vietnam-named tiles directly into the terrain folder. Once the terrain has it's own internal tileset, you can use any cat pointer =EXCEPT= the IsrealME.cat.

    The cities on the map have the minimal amounts of targets possible ... this is more for those liking to keep their feet wet. Also, you might just want to consider this terrain a "myth-mash" (see notes below). Bonus point awarded to ID the source of several of the place names.

    As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you read the document through after unzipping before installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading.

  6. Archipelago v1.0

    This is the first in a series of terrains (and probably tilesets) that I plan on making.

    But, it's not going to be anyplace you recognize. You might notice a few landmasses that look familiar, but this terrain is a complete fabrication, Google Earth will shrug its shoulders if you start looking for it. But that allows you a lot of freedom in terms of scaling and just simply creating anything that pops into your head.

    This concept came from a couple of ideas.

    Western militaries have long had a tradition of wargaming exercises and creating war plans using fictional enemies. Consider this terrain to be less like a real world conflict and more like a live-fire training exercise against bad guys with real guns. This terrain will be not be a real place, but I did want some nods to realism, like a realistic number of targets and a realistic number of airfields for an island chain in the Pacific or Indian oceans.

    The next idea I had came from top-tier games like Battlefield and Call of Duty. Ever notice how their multiplayer maps have vague names? The terrains are a lot like a single-player map pack, and this particular terrain could conceivably be used to create a campaign, but it was really meant and intended for single missions.

    The last idea was that I want each terrain to be geared for a particular style of warfare, this gets back into the terrain being more of a sandtable exercise than a real conflict. Warfare styles might include traditional Cold War gone hot foes, or a 70s style bush war. This particular terrain is geared for very early jet combat/last of the prop jobs sort of combat, like a war of decolonization. It is designed to be an ECM-free environment, guns, unguided rockets, and dumb bombs. You won't find a single SAM site. You could even mod it into a WW2 theatre if you felt like it.

    That's another thing. I don't mind if anyone wants to mod this further, like using a particular tileset or such like. If you plan on posting any mods of this terrain here for others to use, just shoot me an email. You don't have to ask for permission, just let me know what you're doing.

    Also, this is part of the CA freeware agreement. Do not use this for payware.

  9. Italy, Southern Europe (1993-2006)

    Italy, Southern Europe (1993-2006) Terrain
    September 13th, 2022 (1st Release)
    by Menrva and tiopilotos

    >For Strike Fighters 2, Recommended Full-5 Merged
    I am very proud to release a long awaited, brand new terrain made from scratch! The result of many years of dedication and sweat starting in 2017, it features thousands of manually placed tiles reproducing Real World river courses and lakes, not to mention tons of cities all accurately placed in their correct locations. This terrain portrays a pretty complex area, no wonder it never got made properly in two decades of Strike Fighters modding. It is my hope you realize the amount of time and hard effort that I have put to reproduce it with much care and detail.
    The terrain completely covers Italy (with the exception of Sicily, which is included in my Libya terrain), Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania, Corsica (France), Liechtenstein and nice portions of Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, Macedonia, Greece and even a bit of Romania. The tileset, based on one of Stary's GermanyCE tilesets, has been recoloured and expanded with needed transition tiles and features beautiful, unique tiles by tiopilotos which reproduce real islands. Expect long and very accurate river courses, all major and some minor lakes, and tons of islands in the Adriatic Sea. Numerous target areas have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range; those include more than 140 airports, more than 100 SAM sites and more than 70 EW-GCI sites, all placed accurately in their correct locations as shown by well-made SAM site datasets for Google Earth.
    This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look.
    The terrain spans from April 12, 1993 (the beginning of Operation Deny Flight) to June 2, 2006 (the day before Montenegro declared its independence). This terrain is adapt for the Yugoslav Wars and for what-if scenarios pitting Serbia against NATO. For gameplay purposes, Bosnia is set to Red Side alongside Serbia and Montenegro. Slovenia, Croatia and Macedonia are set to Blue Side. Airfields in Austria, Switzerland and Romania have been set to Neutral, so the AI and the player will never spawn on those by default.
    Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible. Having SF2NA is a must, as I have enabled naval ops; if your mod folder contains American, French and Italian aircraft carriers, sometimes you'll see fleets being generated in single missions.
    NOTE: The terrain is not fully finished. It currently misses targets for cities, such as bridges, warehouses, factories etc. If time will allow, maybe someday it will be completed properly.

    >Credits (in no particular order):
    -tiopilotos, for working on very well done island tiles which offer more unique sights in the Adriatic Sea.
    -swambast, who provided me with invaluable help in tracking and fixing common and uncommon bugs.
    -gerwin, whose TFDtool has proved to be essential in today's terrain making. If the terrain is pretty accurate to RL it's also because of him. I included his very nice Airfield 7+8 Addon Pack, too.
    -mue, for the improved shaders he made, which I have included and reworked for the terrain, and for the tools he made for SF2 modding.
    -JSF_Aggie, for his Hi-Res Runway Textures package which I have included and slightly reworked.
    -Coupi, for his Soviet style repaint of the stock Runway3 airfield.
    -luk1978, for the waternormal bitmap he shared at the SF2 screenshots thread. Your mods are very interesting!
    -Stary, for an old version of his GermanyCE tileset included in the Anatolia v1 terrain by PureBlue.
    -Gepard, for his great tutorials about terrain making, in the SF1 Knowledge Base at CombatACE. It's a gold mine!
    -krfrge, who has produced a tutorial for recreating SF2-like planning maps, which prompted me to work on templates and my own high quality planning maps. Thank you very much!
    -comrpnt, for his Approach and Airfield Lighting Pack mod packages for SF1 series, which I reworked and included.

    >Trivia:
    Some statistics of the amount of work that went into it, gathered thanks to gerwin's TFDtool. I placed manually one by one: more than 8600 rivers tiles, more than 1100 road tiles, more than 2000 city related tiles! This is just the tip of the iceberg, not counting other thousands of tiles that have been placed manually on the tilemap to better reproduce coastlines, islands and lakes, and not counting the endless hours of research since 2017 into adding all possible airports with much accuracy.

    >Disclaimer:
    This is a freeware; you are NOT allowed to redistribute it without my prior explicit consent.
    Any changes to the terrain package's files and/or any copy-and-paste attempts of their contents are NOT authorized if you plan to release them in other mods. But permission might be granted to those who request it to me at CombatACE.
    This terrain may NOT in any way, shape or form be used in any payware additions.

  10. Angola/South West Afrika Terrain Beta

    I know everyone here has been waiting for a Border War terrain and have been salivating over the few screen shots released over the years... The wait is over!

    This terrain is a Massive terrain covering most of South West Afrika with the Caprivi Strip, as well as Almost all of Angola as well as much of Botswana, some of Zambia and a small portion of the Congo. It is meant to cover the entirety of the Border War Conflict between FAPLA, SWAPO and the SADF, UNITA and SWADF. The Terrain covers many types of environments from the Skeleton Coast to the wetlands to the great plains and Bush of Ovomboland. This is meant to be a truly African terrain to fly the assortment of South African Air Force birds available here at CA.

    This terrain was truly a team effort that started a few years ago and has passed through many hands along the way. The terrain was originally started by Centurion 1 and Coupi back in the 2013ish time frame and has been held and slowly worked on by a dedicated team here at CA comprised of but not limited to...

    Stratos, Ludo.m54, Jeanba, Pualopanz, Coupi, recently me Spudknocker and even more recently tiospilotos...

    I have brought together all of the pieces left behind by Centurion 1 and others and brought the terrain up to a playable and very fun level to share here at CA.

    This really is a BETA release to show everyone what we have been working on! If you have any suggestions or want to help out with this project feel free to PM me, Coupi or Jeanba!

    I could not have done so without Mue's AMAZING target area editor, Gerwin's FANTASTIC TFD tool and last but not least Wrench's incredible wealth of strike fighters knowledge.

    Also included here with the terrain are several SAM's modified slightly from the original SF2 SAMs package for use by Angola as well as a stand in Impala MkII and SAAF Alouette III helicopter.

    More SAAF and FAPLA related skins and aircraft will be released shortly!

    Thanks for everyone's support here at CA and everyone's patience in waiting for this terrain.

  11. Formosa - WW2 PTO Terrain for SF2

    Formosa - WW2 PTO Terrain for SF2 8/6/2014

    - For SF2, Any & All (Full 5 Merged Reccomended)

    = For Adventures in the Far Western Pacific =

    This terrain is a rebuild of a very old 1stGen "Cold War" version. There was no readme with it, and I've not been able to find who originally created it.
    It has been converted to a WW2 terrain, representing the situation from November, 1944 through the War's End (although, in Real Life, the air campaing didn't start until January, 1945). For gaming purposes, northern Luzon is considered "secure", and USAAF units will be flying from airfields there. For the USN/BPF, there are SF2NA style "CV Stations" (hence the need for a Full-5 merged install, and the PTO mods folder built FROM the SF2NA exe) in the Eastern Pacific, and South China Sea. There is no station for Japanese Naval units as the Imperial Navy, for the most part, had ceased to exist.

    There many new GroundObject and Terrain Objects included in this terrain mod. All (if not most of) the other Ground Objects you should already have.

    The LimitedNations statement is set to TRUE, allowing only for 'regional powers'. The AllowedMission= statement is active, as there are =NO= Ground Attack routes (ie: CAs missions) The terrain also makes use of the 'AllowedDates" statement, preventing use BEFORE November, 1944. But there are plenty of truck and shipping routes, and LOTS of places for STRIKE missions.

    *Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life ™ courses, or be placed in their Real Life ™ locations, or exist at all. Several cities and other physical features may also fall into that classification. Some cities exist only as 'named places'. Where possible (and discoverable), original Japanese style city/place names are used, with the more modern Chinese as well in parenthesis. While the correct types of targets are placed within the various cities, they may not match their Real Life ™ positions due to Height Field and Tile constraints. Also, this terrain is =NOT= full scale. *

    As is ALWAYS reccomended, unzip this archive to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you -READ- the document through after unzipping, but =BEFORE= installing.

    As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading.
    Please also read the New Standard Usage Discalimer, as it's been changed slightly to reflect a change in my policy. It's listed at the bottom, in the Legal Statement Section, with the URL back to the CA post.

  12. Modern Darwin Terrain "CleanUp" Pak

    Modern Darwin Terrain, CleanUp Pak

    For SF2 - Full-4 Merged Reccomended (but not fully required)
    (Reccomended to have the SF2:V VietnamSEA cat readily available)

    While working on the Oz-Mirage, I noticed some errors, shall we say, with the Modern Darwin terrain, so decieded to go through it do some clean up. It could still use a major retargeting, but this will enchance things a little until such time as that happens.

    Several areas have been completly retiled, some cities moved/removed/renamed/retargeted, and so forth...lots of fiddiling with the Height Field to remove some oddities were performed. I think it's much better now, thank you! <grin>.

    If you don't have the terrain already, use the following URLs to download it.

    The original terrain is here:
    http://combatace.com/files/file/6089-modern-darwintimor/

    The SF2 Upgrade Pak is here:
    http://combatace.com/files/file/11564-sf2-update-modern-darwin-terrain/

    If you already have it in your SF2 install, and have the SF2 update installed, this package is all you need.

    HOWEVER....if you wish to enhance the terrain, I'd reccomend Stary's GreenHell3, as it uses the exact same placements as the stock tiles (with some tree exceptions), and is REEEALLLY worth the download. Yes, I've tested the terrain with BOTH tile sets. You can get GH3 from here:

    http://combatace.com/files/file/11649-green-hell-3/

    NO OTHER TILESETS, OTHER THAN GH3 and the STOCK ONE are RECCOMENDED!!! Otherwise, the TODs =will= foul up the targeting (ie: placements of buliding and GroundObjects). For those wishing to use GH3, a Darwin_Data.ini all set up for that use is suppled.

    Several changes to the targets, types, movements inis, along with the invocation of the LimitedNations=TRUE statement should bring this more in line with the Real World ™.

    New planning maps are supplied, too. A modified version of the PLAN Destroyer from my Formosa upgrade is included (changed a few things). No other GroundObjects (read: ships) are included; you should already have them in the game installs, along with the various SAMs, AAA, vehicles, and etc.

    Several new, custom TODs for the Grass-river tiles are included, for use =ONLY= with the stock VN-SEA tileset.

    Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life ™ courses, or be placed in their Real Life ™ locations. Several cities and other target areas may also fall into that classification.

    As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. As always, the expected "Notes" section for whatever reason it's there for!

  13. Coastal Range

    Hi!! Well, here it goes: This is my firs attempt to creat a terrain. The idea is to
    have a "realistic" terrain, with army bases, docks, shipping and truck routes, etc. to practice A2G missions, anti-ship, carrier take off and landing, you name it

    I have included many ground objects and 3rd party mods, and I would like to thank the following:

    Wrench, for I have borrowed ground objects from his great Libya Terrain (barbed wire, Soviet Freighter, factory building, helicopters, pillbox) and for his airbase goodies.
    Stary, for his realistic and gorgeous GermanyCE tiles. They look great!!!
    Piecemeal, I borrowed some layouts from his awesome DesertV4 terrain.
    Rends, I borrowed some ground objects from his Germany CE terrain.
    Krfrge, I took a look at his combat outpost and artillery firebase, and used them as a basis to create some.
    Kesselbrut, I have included some ships he has created (trawler, tug)
    Rover and Gepard for your terrain building tutorials, they have been very valuable to me!!!
    PureBlue for his Airfield Development kit and those who worke to contribute to it: Sundowner: B_Trailer_Mk82, M_trailer, B_TrailerLGB, Y_Tractor, RAF_Cart, B_Duel_Y_Trac, C_Type, RAF_Bunker, TAB_Vee, HAS_M, HAS_E, c_store, Earth Walls, mounds, blast walls and all desert variants of these objects

    Amokfloo: ControlTower, ForkLift, FireExtinguisher, ShelterZu
    Ravenclaw: Fire Trucks
    Stary: str_hangars 1 thru 8
    Pureblue: FloodLight, SmallGenerator, ConcreteBlock, SunShelter, HeliPad1N
    Polak: tools
    Polak and the CFS Midway Group for their object Library 1.
    Julhelm for his Factory Buildings.
    Sundowner, for his Airfield objects.
    Wingwiner for his gas station and control tower.
    Mue for his great Target Area Editor, I have used it extensively.
    Gerwin for his TFD Tool, very useful, specially for last-minute terrain modifications
    Gepard, for his Marxwalde Air Base, included in his 10 new air base mod.
    And finally, many many thanks to the CombatAce Community, you guys have always helped me in time of need!
    If I there's anyone that was no tincluded and needs to, please let me know!!

    You'll need to download the following:

    http://http://combatace.com/files/file/3667-false/

    http://combatace.com/files/file/6043-false

    http://combatace.com/files/file/11448-gaz-66-6x6-trucks-for-sf2-series/

    It was tested on a full-merged SF2 install, including SF2 NA. Although it may work on non-NA installs,
    it is required for the missions tht I'll upload soon.

    I hope you like it!!!

  14. SF2NA WW2 Okinawa/Japan Terrain Update

    SF2NA WW2 Okinawa/Japan Terrain Update

    -- Something for the PTO players --
    = For SF2, Full-5 Merged (ONLY) =

    *This mod will absolutely =NOT= work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs; it is designed for use =ONLY= in a WW2 PTO-centric mods folder that is built off the SF2:NA exe.*

    A very quick and dirty mod for the WW2 Okinawa/Japan terrain that adds the required NA "coding" and _water.bmp with carrier stations.

    This is =NOT= a full terrain: just inis & a _water.bmp. It is to be applied to the modified version of the terrain I (re)relased in 2009, avaliable at this URL:
    http://combatace.com/files/file/9767-okinawajapan-version-3-ww2/

    New main, data, targets, nations, types inis and a new HFD, along with (excessively) modified desert airfield inis, allow for a 'drag-drop' update to SF2NA. A new SF2NA style water bmp with 3 carrier 'zones' was created and included.
    LimitedNations is set to TRUE; make sure you have the latest version of the WW2 Nations ini, as 'IJN' is most definatly one of the nations needed.

    As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, PLEASE read them for necessary instructions. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too.

    REMINDER: if you're downloading the original terrain listed above for the first time, DO NOT USE the enclclosed Ship GroundObjects (perhaps, excepting the LCM and _T taged ships and the 2 Forts/Gun Emplacements); they are NOT at SF2 levels. Use only those ships from the SF2 WW2 Naval Units Pak.

    Happy Landings!

  16. Rio de la Plata terrain

    Rio de la Plata terrain version 1.3
    *****************************************************
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    This terrain is written for SF2NA and SF2E or SF2I.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    I. Short description:
    This terrain covers the Bay of the river Rio de la Plata. South of this bay we find Argentina, north of it Urugay and Brazil. East of it is the Atlantic Ocean.
    The timeframe of the terrain is from 1980 to 2020.
    It is made as a NavalMap with carrier vs carrier operations in mind.
    The scenario is, that in 1982, the Royal Navy answered the argentinian invasion on the Falkland islands with sending a Naval Task Force toward Buenos Aires and landing troops on the shores of Argentina.
    Thatswhy you find a big british beachhead on the map.
    You can fly following missions for the British and their allies, the Brazilians:
    SWEEP,CAP,ESCORT,INTERCEPT,STRIKE,SEAD,ANTI_SHIP,RECON,CAS,Armed_Recon
    For the Argentinians you can fly this missions:
    SWEEP,CAP,ESCORT,INTERCEPT,STRIKE,SEAD,ANTI_SHIP,CAS,RECON
    New in vesion 1.2:
    - number of target area increased from 37 to 47
    - all target areas are now fitted with objects. Factories, warehouses, commbuilding etc.
    - Airbase Tandil moved 75 km westward. It is not yet at the correct position. I fear, that if the base is placed at the correct position, the AI would not use it, because it is to far in the west.
    - At the former position of Tandil Airbase i placed a temporary aifield.
    - I added the river Rio Paradana and the neigbour rivers.
    - I relocated Montevideo and the Montevideo Airport. The airport is completly new made.
    - I reworked all rivermouth tiles, enlarged them to 1024x1024 pixel size.
    New in version 1.3
    - number of targetareas increades to 82
    - a lot of new factory target areas for Argentina
    - included uruguayan airbases
    - included static Cessna for airfield "population
    - included some goodies

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    II. INSTALLATION:
    To run this terrain you need SF2NorthAtlantic and SF2 Israel or SF2 Europe.

    Unzip all files into your saved game folder ...ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2XXXX

    Thats it.

    If you have SF2Europe installed you must do nothing more.
    If you miss SF2E and have SF2Israel you must open file
    Rio_de_la_Plata_Bay.ini
    with Notepad editor and look for the lines:
    //CatFile=..\IsraelME\IsraelME.cat
    CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat
    change the entry into:
    CatFile=..\IsraelME\IsraelME.cat
    //CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat

    save the file
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    II.A: Goodies
    I have made a new mainscreen and included a new mainscreensound. Check it out and if you like it then copy the folder Menu to your SF2 mod installation
    If you own the TK's  DLC28 and SF2Israel, you can use the MirageIIIEA and MirageIIIEBR, which you also find in the goodies folder. Simply copy to your objects folder.
  18. SF2-WW2 Battle of the Bulge Terrain
    The terrain is set up to use the GermanyCE.Cat file but there are not that many ThirdWire objects in use and no ThirdWire tiles so it may work OK with other Terrain.cat files but hasn't been tested.
       This is a very narrow focused terrain with the emphasis on fighter bomber operations in the Ardennes region in late 1944 and early 1945. The main intent of this project was to make a semi-historical Battle of the Bulge campaign but as usual with the SF series, things are taking much longer than expected so I'm going to release this unfinished beta 0.9 version for testing and hopefully get the final version with a campaign released in about 6 months.
       The towns along the front line are in place but I still have quite a few to add further behind both the US and German lines. Most targets are  of the tactical variety such as supply dumps, fuel caches, storage barns, command/communication trucks, fuel trucks, high value tanks and local command buildings.
       Most target areas are focused on the Ardennes region with the exception of airfields and hangars. The area to the east of the Rhine river is considered off limits to allied fighter bombers so the five German airfields located there have zero points for runways and hangars. There are two German airfields on the west side of the Rhine that can be assigned as strike targets during single missions. The seven Allied airfields and their hangars can be targets during Luftwaffe strike missions.
    NOTES:
    The terrain has some artillery positions and the plan is to use the artillery as a force multiplier during the campaign. The artillery is very one sided in areas that saw quick German break outs but the northern and southern shoulders of the battle area saw very little movement so those areas have artillery positions for both sides.
    The terrain is meant for fighter bomber operations only so all airfields are classed as SMALL to try and minimize the number of large aircraft that might show up in single missions. There are three types of runways in use, two use a version of my quicker take off mod and one uses the FE style sequential take off.
    All the add-on tanks, vehicles, guns, etc. have had adjustments made to things like hit boxes, engine power, on and off road speed, armor protection, gun range, rate of fire, visual range, etc. They aren't perfect but I thought it best to take a consistent approach. Although they weren't always widely available, all the tank guns use AP rounds with no explosive in the warhead. All the guns and ground objects included have a suffix for "Bulge" or "Baffmeister', take your pick.
    There is an optional folder that contains some AAA pieces. If you are happy with your present WW2 AAA set up it can be ignored but my WW2 install was a real mess regarding the AAA so I took the opportunity to improve things. For now, the German 88mm, US 90mm and British 3.7inch time fused flak use the same gun and cover the entire WW2 date range. This is a gross simplification but I'm still experimenting with overly large explosive rounds for the time fused flak so it remains as is.
    ISSUES:
    The seven allied airfield positions are relatively accurate although I had to move them a bit to fit within the GermanyCE terrain tods. The Luftwaffe airfields are just using some of the stock ThirdWire locations. Two of the Luftwaffe airfields have a second airfield/runway attached to give two airfields at one location. None of the airfields are a good representation of the actual WW2 airfields. Also, I haven't had a chance yet to sort through some new objects so they are very plain looking.
    I tried to organize the ground objects a bit so they all have Green, Tan and for this terrain White texture folders. Some of the objects had some dedicated winter textures I could use but others I had to make myself by just messing with colors, brightness and saturation. Lots of room for improvement! The same holds true for winter roof textures I did for some building objects. Geezer's objects all have good textures!
    While scouting out town locations I found a great spot on the GermanyCE terrain for Elsenborn Ridge and guesstimated the other town locations off that point. The result is inaccurate town locations too far south. It doesn't really affect game play unless you try and fly with a real map but it's a done deal at this point.
    The ThirdWire GermanyCE terrain doesn't really do the Ardennes region justice. None off the rivers that were a big part of the Battle of the Bulge are modeled and neither are most of the roads but trying to do a dedicated terrain would have added years to the project.
    I tried using a very tight date range for this terrain but it seems to default to 1944 or 1945. For single missions you will want to choose 1944 because, at certain target areas, some US objects get removed from the terrain starting 17th December, 1944.
    TERRAIN CREDITS
    ThirdWire: GermanyCE terrain and city TODs.
    Stary: GermanyCE Hard Winter tiles and countryside TODs and TOD textures. Some TOD textures taken from Rends GermanyCE terrain.
    STATIC BUILDING AND EQUIPMENT OBJECTS CREDITS
    Geezer: Too many objects to name individually! They are being run from individual folders within the terrain folder. The credits are included within the object folders. Objects include urban blocks, farm houses, town houses, churches, barns, light industrial buildings, warehouses, static vehicles, soldiers, horse drawn carts,tents and a supply dump. Some hangars included as well. Thank you Sir!
    Polak and Wrench: Some objects from Object Library 1.
    Gepard: Burg_Colditz, Pfalzgrafenstein, airfield ramps, taxiways and a runway with modified textures.
    WingWiner: Many town buildings and destroyed models, most with modified textures.
    Stary: str_han1, 4, and 8 with modified textures. Also, some Stary textures being used on a couple of ThirdWire hangars.
    Sundowner: Road grader.
    Closterman: Tactical Control Centre.
    Monty CZ: Static version of his Opel_Blitz_Com vehicle and a landing strip model with modified textures.
    Mitch: halle3_close
    Stephen1918: SmallChurch.
    Unknown:  FH-Trees, Tree3A, Tree3B and Tree3C.
    Unknown: Fort Gatehouse, Fort HQ Building, Fort Turret, Fort Wall and Fort Wall Destroyed, all with modified textures.
    GROUND OBJECT CREDITS
    Geezer: 105mm German and US artillery, M5 anti tank gun, PanzerWerfer-42, motorized versions of his M3 half track, GMC canvas truck, Dodge WC51 light truck, and a PanzerIVh model that is still a work in progress.
    Geo: M3 half track, M36 tank destroyer, Panther tank, Sdkfz251 half track, Sdkfz251 flak, TigerII tank, Sherman M4A3 and E8 tanks, M16 Quad AAA, and Opel Blitz Canvas/Open trucks.
    Raven: TigerI tank and the SturmTiger rocket launcher.
    Monty CZ: 88Flak36Emplaced, 88mm Flak36Towed[used as AT gun], and I think, the 20mm FlakVierling [quad].
    Nicholas Bell: Bofors L60
    ThirdWire: US 90mm AAA. [uses KS-19 Lod.]
    Unknown: British 3.7inchAAA.
    SPECIAL THANKS TO MUE!   Without his Target Area Editor I would not have even attempted this project!
    INSTALLATION:
    Instructions included in the package.
    WAIVERS:
    Geezer's PanzerIV-h model is still a work in progress and may not be re-distributed in any way. It's included mainly for testing and as a favor to me. It includes some copy/paste textures from RussoUK's PanzerIV-j but that's just a temporary test for now.
    Geezer's other building/vehicle/troop etc. objects can be used, with appropriate credits, for freeware projects only, no commercial use permitted. The new objects are contained in individual folders within the BotB Terrain folder and can be easily viewed with Mues lod viewer. You can then do a search through the BotB_Types.ini to see the way I've set them up, which might not be the best way. Keep in mind, this isn't a formal object pack upload and not all summer textures are included.
    The terrain is still WIP and may not be re-distributed or modified, except for personal use.
    To the best of my knowledge, other objects included in this package are subject to the CombatAce fair use agreement.
  19. Kurilen.7z
    Kuril Islands 1.0
    *****************************************************
    This terrain is written for SF2.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    I. Short description:
    This terrain covers the Kurils islands, a small group of islands which were conquered by the soviets in September 1945 from Japan. There is also a small part of the japanese island of Hokkaido.
    This terrain is made for carrier ops in primary. You may fly ground based planes too. There are two small japanese airfields and 3 soviet airfields.
    The soviets deployed an aray of SAM sites over the islands of Kunashir and Iturup.
    To run this terrain you need SF2NA and one of these: SF2I or SF2E.
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    II. INSTALLATION:
    Unzip all files into your saved game folder ...ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2NorthAtlantic /terrain folder.
    Because IcelandNA terrain does not include all neccessary objects to run this terrain properly you need to link it to an other terrains CAT file.
    From stock the terrain is prepared to link with SF2 Israel
    If you dont have SF2I you must open the file kurilen.ini with Windows notepad editor.
    Look for the lines:
    CatFile=..\IsraelME\IsraelME.cat
    //CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat
    //CatFile=..\VIETNAMSEA\VietnamSEA.cat
    //CatFile=..\Desert\Desert.cat
    Add // in front of  CatFile=..\IsraelME\IsraelME.cat  to switch ot off.
    Then remove // at one of the other lines. Which you should remove depends on which SF2 game you still have installed side by side with SF2 North Atlantic.
    Save it.
    Thats it.
    III. Credits.
    The TOD's, what means the trees and autogenerated houses on the map, are mostly taken from various tilesets made by Stary.
    The SAM protection walls are taken from Pureblues AirfieldDevKit. They were originaly made by Sundowner.
    The basic files for the taxiways, parking areas and quais are made by ErikGen.
  20. WW2 Eastern China Terrain for SF2
    WW2 Eastern China Terrain for SF2 11/18/2013
    - For SF2, Any & All (Full-5 Merged Reccomended)
    = For Adventures in The Far East =
    *Note: This pack is designed to REPLACE, in total, any eariler versions of this terrain.*
    **Note2: IMPORTANT! Make sure you have the WW2 ground objects!!**
    This map repsents Eastern China (mainland), Formosa, the South China Sea regions from Chan-Chiang (Fort Bayard) in the south to Shanghai in the north, Taipei in the East and Chungking in the west. It has been COMPLETLY rebuilt from the original; almost nothing from the original remains, excepting perhaps the shapes of the land masses and oceans.
    The map depicts the region in approximately mid-late 1943. Some Friendly sites were eventually captured during Japanese operations in late 44. To that end, I've left 2 maps in the "extra bits" folder, showing the Japanese routes, for any campaign builders.
    The LimitedNations statement is set to TRUE, allowing only for the regional powers that took part. The terrain also makes use of the 'Allowed Missions' statement, as there are NO Friendly shipping routes for IJAAF/IJN forces to attack (although I wish we COULD use the rivers for such...they're just a bit too narrow). All other missions statement, for both sides, remain intact.
    LOTS of new tiles and their associated TODs have been created, and match the GH3 styling. There is also, as expected, a few Easter Eggs.
    Also included are several GroundObjects, (repaints/repurposing of 2 of Kesselbruts' Zil truck for IJA usage) and etc seen in my other terrain mods. These are designed to REPLACE any pre-existing ones I've done. Be advised, you'll still need many of the other WW2 PTO objects I've included in other terrain mod paks. Make sure you have them!!!
    REMEMBER: you will need the latest WW2 weapons and Guns pack!
    **Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life ™ courses, or be placed in their Real Life ™ locations, or exist at all. Several cities and other physical features may also fall into that classification. Some cities exist as 'named places' only. Some exist only as 'city tiles' sitting on the landscape. Some airfields may not be in their historical locaitons or headings due to Height Field and other tiling restrictions.**
    As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you READ this document through after unzipping, but BEFORE installing.
    As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading.
    Please also read -and OBEY- the New Standard Usage Discalimer, as it's been modified to reflect changes in my policy. It's listed at the bottom, in the Legal Statement Section, with the URL back to the CA post.
    This is a full IcelandNA Terrain in Standar Resolution like the other origninal sceneries, to replace the original High resolution StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic IcelandNA, with all airbases structures and targets, as far i test it.
    For this mod i used:
    Baltika Iceland02 Full-scale Terrain v1.0
    (as base file for the replacement file)
    Third Wire Desert and Germany Original Terrains
    (as complement of Baltika Iceland02 Full-scale Terrain v1.0)
    Third Wire Strike Fighters 2 Extractor
    (To extract the necessary files)
    Canadair .Cat Pack Creator
    (To Create the File)
    I used Baltika Iceland02 Full-scale Terrain v1.0, then i extract desert and germany terrain files and use the texture files as complement for Iceland02 Full-scale Terrain and then re pack it to make a replace file insted of the high definition North Atlantic Terrain.
    is not an original file it is a remade file
    Israel 2 Terrain (ver 4.1) Targets Tweek for SF2 3/30/2015
    = For SF2, Any and All (Full 5 Merged RECCOMENDED!!!) =
    Some small changes as requested.
    This small package is to be installed OVER your existing ver 4.0 Israel 2 terrain. This is
    mainly for those people that have already downloaded the newest version.
    These changes have already been applied to the Full Terrain, for those that have not
    gotten it already
    changes for 4.1:
    moved Az Zaqaziq (Abu Hamed) AB
    Added Hulwan AB
    Added Mezze AB
    Added Al Mazza AB
    Retiled region between the Nile and Qaroun Lake
    As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest
    of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended (ie: REQUIRED!!!) you read the
    document through after unzipping before installing.
    It's most important that the legal disclaimer at the bottom be read and complied with.
    There has been a change in policy with regards to =ALL= my terrain mods.
  23. Red Range Revamp/Update for SF2
    Red Range Revamp/Update for SF2 4/28/2016
    = For SF2, any and all (Full 4/5 Merged Reccomended)
    This is a revamp/retile of Deuces original "Red Range" terrain. Like the original, it's a terrain set up so one may practice Ground Attack and Strike mission against various types of ground targets. Also, finally, there has been the addition of a large "water feature", so now you can practice Anti-shipping missions as well! This will allow you to become familiar with the various "Red" weapons, and their usages. REMINDER: there is NO Air-to-Air possible on this terrain. It is designed for attacking ground targets ONLY!!
    ** REMINDER: there is NO Air-to-Air possible on this terrain. It is designed for attacking ground targets ONLY!! Also, like its companion "The Range", this terrain is ONLY for Red Force usage. Trying to fly any Blue Force (US, NATO, etc) aircraft WILL result in lockups, CTDs and other unplesentness. **
    I'm calling this "ver. 4" even though I'm unsure exactly what it should be called! The terrain has been completly retiled in "IME" style tiles. Where necessary (and wanted), a few new TODs has been made with better looking trees. For the most part, however, it's an empty terrain. Home Base has been dressed up a little, and changed to a Runway 4 (the very large airfield) so bomber aircraft can now be used. In keeping with the original concept, the amount of "eye candy" at Home Base is minimal.
    Also included is a modified "Single Mission ini" that has had the minimum target values lowered, so the game engine can assign Strike missions against a wide variety of "lesser value" items. This file can be used in ANY mods folder, and will work for all types of single missions the game generates.
    As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them .... Give the "notes" a browse, too! For those unfamiliar with the "cat pointer" lines, there are instructions on it's proper useage.
  24. SF2 WW2 Northen Europe/North Sea Fix-It Pak
    SF2 WW2 Northen Europe/North Sea Fix-It Pak 1/22/2014
    = For Use on the Recently Released WW2 Northern Europe/North Sea Terrain =
    This fix-it pak contains a modified Norway.ini (main ini) and Norway_Movements.ini.
    The main ini has the correction to reset the terrain size to the actual size of the terrain, now allowing the in-game planning map to show things where they truely are.
    The Movements ini has a repositioned 'front line', that now also sits where it's supposed to!
    The terrain is available at the following URL:
    http://combatace.com/files/file/14545-sf2-ww2-northern-europenorth-sea-terrain/
    This is to be applied on those already downladed. A 'new' version of the terrain will be uploaded with these changes/repairs already added.
    As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!!
  25. SF2 Hawaii/Northern Pacific Terrain, Modern (v.2)
    SF2 Hawaii/Northern Pacific Terrain, Modern (v.2)        9/5/2020
    - For SF2, Any & All (Full-5 Merged, + Expansion Paks REQUIRED!!!)
    This is a rebuild of the WW2 Hawaiian Islands terrain into a more "modern" version (1950s and later). This is NOT a WW2 version; it is for post-war into modern times. Do NOT use this in your WW2 PTO mods folder!! You must also have SF2NA are part of you merged installs. This was built and tested in the NA environment.
    You may experience longer than normal loading times due to the number of terrain objects. It should be noted, due to the inherent scaling issue in the SF series, objects placed herein are, for the most part, representative of their Real World counterparts. See "Notes" for more information.
    When in game, on the Terrain Selection drop-down, you'll see:
    Hawaii (Modern)
    Even though the folder remains in it's original name of just "Hawaii".
    As is recommended, unzip this archive to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's recommended you -read- the document through after unzipping, but =BEFORE= installing.
    As always, the "Notes and Other Nonsense" section may make for entertaining reading. Down in that section is a list of required ships that you're going to need!! I've supplied SOME items, but you End Users (tm) are responsible for all the rest. !!PLEASE!!! read the "Notes" section for more more detailed explainations of this terrain, and it's limitations.
