The new unit flew its first combat mission on 20 January 1917. On 28 March 1917, 3a Sezione was detached for city defense duties. On 10 April 1917, the squadron was attached to 10o Gruppo. The squadron was displaced at the Battle of Caporetto. 81a Squadriglia joined 6o Gruppo at Istrana. The move would put them in position for the great air battle over their base on 26 December 1917.
In February 1918, the squadron began replacing its Nieuport 17s with Hanriot HD.1s. Hanriot supplies being insufficient, some Nieuport 27s were also brought on strength. The squadron served on through Summer 1918. Then, on 26 October 1918, it was included in the Massa da Caccia (Fighter Mass) that supported the victorious final Italian offensive at Vittorio Veneto. When the war in northern Italy ended on 3 November 1918, the 81a Squadriglia had flown 4,118 combat sorties, engaged the enemy 230 times, and were credited with 34 aerial victories. The squadron suffered four dead. It still had 21 Hanriots and a Nieuport 27 in service.

    20. Active Battlefield for First Eagles Version 2

This version includes a number of changes, which are explained in the readme. With these modifications, it works on my system, and I have no problem with stats. I can't guarantee you'll have the same results, as the stats problem seems to be very system dependent, and mission time seems to have an affect also. I'm reposting this because it works for me, and it might work for you. It adds a bit to immersion, so if you can get it to work, I think it's worth it. Complete installation instructions are contained in the readme.

My thanks to Kesslebrut, and Geo, for the use of their ground objects. If you tinker with this, and wish to post a modified version, feel free, just don't mod the ground objects without the specific permission of the original authors.

When Geo finishes his superb new German 77mm gun, and his new 75, I will post a types and targets ini update to take advantage of them. From the screenshot he posted at ThirdWire, they should be fantastic!

As always, you use these files at your own risk. I hope they work for you as well as they worked for me.

    21. AEG C.IV

The AEG C.IV was a German 2 seater that was introduced in 1916 and saw service until the end of the war. It served on the Western, Eastern, and Palestine fronts and was operated by Bulgaria and Turkey as well as by Germany. It was primarily a reconnaissance plane, but was also used as a bomber escort, although not very successfully. It had a fixed Spandau machine gun for the pilot, a Parabellum on a ring mount for the observer, and could carry a small bomb load.

I have included two skins, a green and lilac camo, and a green and brown camo. I have also included a full set of number decals. My skinning templates are included in the download.

There are two bomb loadouts, one internal, and one external mounted under the wings. It is doubtful that the AEG C.IV carried external bombs, but I liked the look of it. For historical accuracy, you probably shouldn't use the External Bombs loadout.

      Credits
Thanks to Ojcar for making the data file for the AEG C.IV and for providing valuable information, especially for the cockpit details.
Thanks also to Nix, who made the sound file for the Mercedes 160hp engine.

Thanks to Ojcar (again) for pointing out the problem with the decals.

      Installation Instructions
For FE1 - Unzip the file and move the folder named "AEGC4" into your FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. You also need to move the sound file "mercedes160m2.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder.

For FE2 - Unzip the file and move the folder named "AEGC4" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create new folder named "AEGC4". Move the folder named "D" from the Aircraft/AEGC4 folder into the Decals/AEGC4 folder you just made. You also need to move the sound file "mercedes160m2.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder.

    24. AI flyable rigid Airships

      AI FLYABLE RIGID AIRSHIPS:
Well, a quick and dirty work to make AI flyable two of the excellent Stephen1918 airships.
-The real L32 Zeppelin was shot down in 1916 over Horns Reef by the cruisers Galetea and Phaeton while trying to raid England. Before this it made 77 recon missions over North Sea.
The model we have is intended to have a generic German rigid Airship to use in campaign mode (you should create units with one plane and only one pilot).
-The real R23 class was never used in combat, but two of the improved R23X were built in 1918, and in fact one of them, the R29 attacked the UB-115 U-boat (it also was attacked by some ships. The submarine was sunk, and this was the only recoorded success of a British rigid airship.
Both airships are hard to destroy with machine guns, but the AI fighters will try to pass through the Airship sometimes (a game engine limit). Bad idea! The fighter will be destroyed (and the pilot probably will had the VC or Legion d'honneur) and the Airship badly damaged.
To install them you should put the AirshipR23 and ZeppelinL32 folders into your Aircraft folder.
      Enjoy it!
Both models and skins by Stephen1918

    25. Air Raid Warning Ambulances

      Air Raid Warning Ambulances.

These are the Stock Trucks re-painted to look like Ambulances.
Their main function is they set off an air raid alarm on friendly Airfields when an Enemy Aircraft gets too close (or when you get too close to the Enemy's!).

I figured that Air Raid Sirens weren't readily available at the time, so I have used a vintage Fire-Engine Bell, Which sounds quite good, and rings a bit faster than it sounds on the wav file.
I have also included a version which uses an Air Raid Siren instead of the Fire-Engine Bell.

I made the two different versions for the two different sounds (rather than just change the sound around) because the rate of fire and burst amounts are different, just seemed simpler to have them both available.

They have to be manually placed on the Terrain, one at each Airfield, but this isn't as time consuming as it sounds, as most Airfields have several trucks already placed at them; so you just need to substitute an Ambulance for a Truck.

If you really don't want to do this you can avoid it by making them exportable, but then you end up with Ambulances guarding bridges and balloons.
