Gosh, looks like this beastie is surrounded in controversy, all we need now are some socialist pinko's to come along and cancell it :haha:

But, there are clearly 2 compelling arguments, Fastcargo has a very good point, a name endears the aircraft more to it's crews etc....

the other point is equally as valid, let's not take this thread down that road, so for now, keep names to PM's to me or Ant so we can make a list of the ones we can make a poll on.

So to start this thread back on the correct path, heres a quick screenie of an effect I am working on, basically I don't like the way the game cuts off exhaust smoke when burners kick in so I have created ths effect to keep some smoke on burner (this particular effect is an edit to the data ini, but I am creating taylored AB and smoke effects for the TSR)

We all know how smoky aircraft were from that era.

That smokey effect is interesting at any rate :clapping: though as far as I remember "afterburning" smoke is maybe a bit more yellowish.

And further, of course everyone is looking forward to this legend, name or no name.......

Aju,

Derk

'Phoenix'

As in Phoenix from the ashes.

Funny, Sukoi's T-37 interceptor project suffered the same fate of vandalism, destruction of airframe and all tooling. Krushchev, who some say was Russia's MacNamara (or Russia's Sandys), had also becoming a missile man.

If a name for TSR-2 can be found that was used by the test pilots, that should be the name. Otherwise no name should be made up. Each player can make their own name if they want.

 3 TSR's

Makes me wonder if this will happen again with anything else I make, I don't like the thought of alot of hard work becoming redundant, so maybe it would be best if everyone carries on with their projects, even if someone else is working on the same thing.

Craig I wouldn't worry models are a bit like buses they all seem to arrive at the same time and despite their developers best efforts some never actually materialise but end up still borne, if half the projects ever announced on Combatace actually materialised most of the gaps in our flightlines would already be filled...Carry on Regardless.

Yes, I guess you are right Laz, I realised soon after the post that I really do this stuff for my own amusement first anyway, most other modders are the same, can be too easy to feel like theres a competition going on but it's not the case, variety is the spice of life they say, so let there be a variety of the same models.

Craig do it because you enjoy it and it brings you pleasure if others benefit and also derive pleasure from what you do then thats a fortunate by product, you have every right to be proud of your accomplishments just look at how many of us downloaded the Typhoon, no mean feat in itself.

i agree with Lazyboy... the Typhoon is a masterpiece and the downloads stats speak for themselves.... im sure the TSR.2 will match or even exceed them....

Craig, please dont let the fact of the other's working on the same beaut deter you from working on her, to me she represent's the pinnacle of true British aviation much like the Avro Arrow to us Canadian's so I humbly suggest that you keep at it.

Wow.

Its the first time I see this bird.

Awesome bird. wonderful job Craig. You are making it into the modders hall of fame real fast, man.

This bird reminds me... well I can't stop thinking, it looks very much like the A-5 Vigilanty .

Again, great job. can't wait.

She's a real beauty!

BTW I found this in a scale moddeling magazine, may shed some light on the name issue.

WOW! TSR2 , I can't wait for this one. TSR2 was reputed to be 10-15 years ahead of its time in the areas of Radar , Weapons control etc. I've read that it was the equal of the Tornado in respect to low level flight/attack and I remember being disgusted at the time ( though I WAS young then) that the Government cancelled it and later ordered then cancelled the F-111 and then bought the Phantom , which had a different role altogether to TSR2.

Most British aircraft buffs of the time still feel the same way.

Is there an E.T.A. when this rig will be released? Great stuff, and to add about redundant projects the more the merrier. I love em all. You guys and gals that build these things, redundant or not or a one off are all spectacular. I like to see the suttle diff. its almost like a brush stroke on canvas, diffrent but just as creative.

The TSR.2, the most beautiful british plane after the Buccaneer. I wonder how it will behave, with those small wings and big engines, will be very interesting. And with Sundowner's skins, it's gonna be a masterpiece!

Actually, the Phantom purchase was sorted well before the F-111 on/off debacle. The UK were looking for a Hunter replacement for the RAF and a Sea Vixen & Scimitar replacement for the Royal Navy and it has a happy consequence that some Canberra units earmarked for TSR.2/F-111K converted to Phantoms before Jaguars released the Phantoms for UK Air Defense (replacing Lightnings).

Those skins are the dog's dangly bits aren't they?
