  1. Im waiting for pcb board for the damaged hd,hopefully that ll fix it,as it seems its board error not drive... I will check models here ive got now,and se if they are the last I did,I think I have the bits smoothed out(intakes etc ) on these models...will let you know when Ive taken a look...bit busy at home atm,but will squeeze in some time to check .and try and get a bit more finished.
  2. Large bmp files are fps killers,any large formats do for that matter,I prefer compressed jpgs as size is 1\4 of a bmp..its a pity we cant use other formats for skins etc.

  6. Im not running out of steam...its time for me...Im trying to finish a lot of stuff here,to clear the decks,so to speak...trying to get 3 or 4 items done ,swapping between each after doing a little more on each..
  7. I agree ant...here is why I bump map a\c...hawk for example has a lot of panels,rivets that are prominent on skin..also a lot of gaps in panels,and dents and raises etc in the aluminium.some good examples here...also older soviet a\c were just held together ,with huge gaps between panels...

  9. correct...polys get flipped....3ds also puts polys in odd places...a lot will need deleting form some conversions of 3ds files.
  10. Normal maps (bumpmaps) along with specular maps,makes hell of a difference to even simple skins.. This ok for those without photoshop...standalone Bumpmap tool. http://www.crazybump.com/
  11. you can edit the wav,or find a better wav,find wav you prefer and just change name of the gun in the data.ini me109e gun data.ini [Gun01] SystemType=FIXED_GUN GunTypeName=20MM_MGFF <<<look in sound folder and you will see 20MM MGFF.wav if you want to use the 20MM MGFF for example...or what gun you prefer sound of...easy.. ty for the good words btw.

  13. ace,your bumpmaps are reversed,highlights rather than "depth" using nvidia plug in if you use ps...bumpmapping is easy,just setting the depth and amounts is trial and error... this is mig25k bumpmap. and default settings in nvidia plugin... there are stand alone progs to make maps from jpegs... I only have the base layer panel lines set to normal opacity 100% no shading dirt weather layers showing,or areas that wont need that 3d look,like decals ,they obviously dont need bumpmap, basic jpeg after hiding layers I dont want to show on bumpmap ( at bottom....)

Now when I do panel lines,I dont bother with shading\highlights,bumpmaps take care of that...if model has them..(all my models since I found how to bumpmap,now have it).then if not use panel lines colour inverted to make the white lighter areas. another thing I do for metal skins,is use actual metal textures and use areas to paste into panels...like here below.1st pic...of the p47n 2nd pic is with a gradient overlay... 3rd pic is with the metal pic and some dodge tool work creating the glossy look.. pic of mig 29 is plain black panel lines,opaque with the bumpmapping,for those that dont know,it gives the look of sunken panels and raised edges,bolts rivets etc...very good at saving you hours of work creating that realistic rivet look..
  19. All we need is source files when TK deems this title dead,and shy is the limit... If I could complete my stuff,with no work etc I would,I still like the game,we here have made better...and we all continue to do...this sim has models no other sim has,im sure models that have appeared ,after first been seen here,are because of us maybe...you never know

I run it on highest settings DCS world and fc3 with i5 4670k o\c to 4.2 ghz,8gb of ram (teamgroup vulcan 2000mhz dual ch) Z97-HD3 Intel Z97 gaming mobo,samsung 840 pro ssd xfx 7950 3gb ddr5 gfx card running @stock and great fps never looked at making a\c for dcs is the model setup very different?

  24. Easily fixable...polys just need flipping,any polys moved.?.move back or replace them...saving as .max file as he goes...
