Easy everybody...

  6. The Mirage IV used a BOZ pod which has both chaff/flares + the integral dispenser system in the rear fuselage bottom. Early on it was Phimat for chaff and the integral system for flares. There might be another Phimat version ... I never saw any info about it though ... so who knows.

  13. Mirage 5DE ... it was really just a Mirage IIIE with new name ... like so many other 'Mirage 5' variants ... good Dassault marketing The Customer was King !!! (as long as the money was flowing...) Gabonese Mirage 5 even had tailhooks ... BTW the Mirage 5E2 is missing the Laser Designator Housing under the nose. Egypt got 16 aircraft, ordered in 1980 and delivered from 1982-83. The 5E2 had a much enhanced nav/attack system based on avionics developed for the Alpha Jet 2 with a real HUD.

  15. Phimat was a Chaff-only dispenser. The chaff was stored inside in several tubes. Over the time I've read several numbers but the most common and from a good source was 210 chaff packets. Weight with full load is 105 kg. A similar dispenser pod is the Sycomor It was used by many foreign Mirage F1 users. Sycomor has 3 tubes for chaff at the rear and the forward part holds 7 dispensers with 4 cartridges each which are used for flares. Lenght of the pod is 2.95 m Its advantage is the ability to load both chaff and flares.

  17. Heres what I'm using in the Bf 110 data inis for canopy jettision [Pilot] ... CanopyNodeName=Canopy_Top [RearGunnerVisual] ... CanopyNodeName=Canopy_Gunner This jettisions the top entry hatch for the pilot and the whole rear gun with its glass shield as it was done on the real thing, thats what my books tell me ... + working around given model mesh limitations might not on the later models though.. but cant remember details anymore...
  18. Centurion-1, are you doing 3d work on them ? keep in mind that only Greek and post-1990 SAAF and even later the Ecuadorian F1's had the additional underwing IR missile launchers.... ~
  19. many old pre-SF2 made pods lack the min/max frequency settings and default to 0/0 after running through the weapon editor ... so they have the old strenght value but dont jam shet
  20. On the v 16 / 17, they only jammed 2 bands instead of 3 bands of the long pods one of them ( the 16 probably ) was used for low + mid band jamming, the other (17) for mid + high band no difference in power, its simply a shorther = lighter version of the long pods but with reduced coverage where one has to chose from depending on whats required I think I had the bands /GHz coverage set up correctly on the old TMF versions of them .... now if one knows where to find those ...
  21. Caesar, nice to see that my F-15C gets some workout there Heres somehting I just got to think about, the AI only DetectSystem radar related RadarSearchTime=1.0 1.0 seconds is the Default value for most modern 3rd party aircraft while the stock TW value is usually 2.0 for early F-4's , 1.0 in F-4E Now the Q is what does this number mean... Is the the time the AI needs to scan the whole radar search volume as defined in the DetectSystem ? To stay with the F-4E example, that w ould mean a 120° side scan and 120° vertical scan ( total ) Very fast for a 1 or 2 bar limited scan ...pure magic The idea is to have some more realistic AI scan time while keeping in mind the game limits of a very basic scan limiter. So if you break the lock with chaff or beaming, you normally make some move to get out of the limited scan volume so that the opponent cant immediately relock you. with a 2-bar or 4-bar 60° scan, the radar operator would have to move his scan elevation quite a bit vertically especially if he doesnt know if the target went up or down. A 120° scan with 4 bars in a 80's onwards fighter takes ~7 seconds , using the F-15 APG-63 for an example. If the pilot is using the 60° 4-bar scan after loosing lock, its half that time for one full scan .. ~3.5 seconds Now he has to look for the evasive target up and down .. that costs time to scan ... maybe around 10.5 to 14 or more seconds for 3-4 full scans. Probably even longer. Increasing the RadarSearchTIme value maybe gives the player a better change to prevent a superfast relock by AI and enables him to dive anway or get high and fast for an early shot ... Well thats all not tested yet and data a bit incomplete .. but something to think about I'd say ~
  22. cool menu screens
  23. I'd say thats a 2 then
  24. Hi DW, if you want, you have herewith permission to upload that modified F-16I as a complete mod. Just put some readme into it that says what it is/ on what it is based on + the original Sufa readme and all is OK ~
