Wow! I mean just, wow! This is like being tossed your 1st major league pitch and knocking it out of the park! Smooth as silk install, fired it right up, am over on the game system giving it a shakedown mission at this very moment. Did I say "Wow" yet? -
Big, bad, beautiful SPECTRE! I was honored to have been able to give the ol' left hand-turning, toothpick making, belcher of hell's fire for a spin while in beta. It certainly does feel like a transport while on flight, especially when landing. FM extrodinaire! The details, as can be seen above, are incomparable. These guys sweated blood on this one, and it shows. I'd let you in on a few little secrets, but don't want to steal anyone's thunder. This set is definately worth the price of admission, if not just for this Herky, but some stunning slated missions. I just feel fortunate to have been able to kick the tires a tad early...

There is, indeed, one heckuva lot of time in keeping this place up, and being such an excellent resource. Hat's off Lady and Gentlemen... -

Issue with FRAPS

Agree with SandyC! I'd point you to a review I did on it, but it looks like it has already gone to archive from last year. If you have the hard drive space, and $37, it is a cool investment. -

Well, er, no. Maybe I oughta get it, eh? I thought I got an add-on for WoI, but don't see it in my save directory. All I see are the vehicles, and no AIM-9's on the rails. Checked my weapons.ini, and all looks OK, sort of. I've always had the hardest time getting friendly SAMs to appear. Just wish TK would not make it such a "challenge" and add the defenses appropriate to the scenario. I mean, sure, I could use a sling-shot, and that would be a challenge, but fut the wuck? That Duster looks like a bad motor scooter, may have to rummage for it, as I don't see it in the same WoI downloads area. Cool stuff, thanks for the tips, gentlemen... -

I so wish TK had added some form of Israeli SAMs to WoI, as the quad 50's and 20mm M113 just suck. Especially with the odd inbound enemy flights seen now. I have the hardest time getting added Hawks and Chapparalls to work... -

This looks extensive and deep, I look forward to flying it, from different perspectives. Probably not until the weekend, but with great anticipation. Thanks for the hard work, will report back... -
Downloadable aircrafts
Spectre_USA replied to Basher11's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
In a word, yes. I wouldn't know the ratio, but a good quantity have their own `pits in the package, others rely on in game substitutes. But if you download an add-on aircraft from CA, you follow the readme, you will be up and flying it in very short order. Same for C5, Capun, and most other finer add-on makers aircraft. We truly are lucky in this sim series... ___EDIT___ Changed to ratio, had ration. Must be hungry. ;) -

Right here at CombatAce! <<--Yes, this is a link. -
Not to mention thje fact they can't just punch out combat simulations like widgets. Nor, as seems the case, like FPS's. The majority of them are for short attention span folks anyway. They jump in, look around, say "Ooo, shiny," and proceed to blast the crap out of everything. Once stuck, search for hacks, get bored, rinse and repeat. Most CSimmers I've dealt with over the years are in it for the long haul. Not so easily distracted, and dedicated to getting that nth degree more of precision. This is why the entire PC gaming genre is eroding, and the console is going up. no one wants to invest time in anything with depth...

The KB obsession

It does seem a little better, but searches for aircraft designations usually draws a blank, even from "more search options" area. But who would want to search for aircraft designations anyway? -

F-111 question
Spectre_USA replied to Atreides's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Isn't that the same one where a `Vark gets hit by a MANPAD, and when the capsule separates, it catches one as well? Hated that scene. As to the Spark-vark, it was advanced electronically, but based on an F-111A airframe. Big canoe mounted on top of the tail full of gizmos. It also had to fly high to get the ECM coverage for the strike package, which was never one of the `111's fortés...
