Map 14: Aircraft [von Richtofen's 80 Victories}
Gepard replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
In german language the sentence always starts with a capital letter. But in the case when the sentence starts with a title of nobility it is difficult. There are three ways to avoid the small letter "von". The first is to start with the firstname, so the sentence starts with "Manfred von Richthofen ...." or "M. von Richthoven ...." or "M.v.Richthofen ....". The second is to use the titel, "Freiherr von Richthofen ...". And the third is to leave off the "von", so the sentence start with "Richthofen ...." The last version was the most common in that time. -
This is wrong. Correct the sentence must be: "German authorities allowed Vladimir Ilyitch Lenin and some comrades to travel, in a special locked one wagon train, from Switzerland ,where he was in exile, through Germany to Sweden, which he arrived via ferry. In Sweden larger amounts of money was passed to him by German diplomats. From Sweden he traveled via Finland to Petrograd to start a new socialist revolution."

This will never happen. For the russians Gorbi is a loser. And never ships are named by losers.

Maybe there is an other reason, which has to do with pilots. Perhaps the Pentagon wants to have a fistfull pilots which have enough flight hours to be allowed to fly this plane. It would be bad if you still have flightworthy planes, but no pilot who could operate them. An other reason could be similar with the operation of MiG-23 in the soviet forces in Germany in the late 80th and early 90th. A lot of high ranking staff officers were pilots of the MiG-23. There was the rule, that a pilot must have some flight hours per year to keep his pilotwings. To give them the chance to fly without retraining them to a modern fighter type the soviets operated some MiG-23s, so that the staff officers could keep their pilotwings. Perhaps a similar thing is happen now in the USA.

F-8 dogfights 6 x VPAF MiGs over Vietnam
Gepard replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
Nice story. But did it really happen? Or growed the number of enemies over the years like the size of my last fished fish? I can clearly remember, that the pike i fished was as long as the span of my arms, it had eyes big as the eys of a bull and teeth long like the teeth of a tiger. Unfortunatly a friend of mine had taken a photo that proof, that the pike was only 30cm long. -
Look into Baltic Entrance terrain for WOE. There Sweden is set as Neutral.

One molotov cocktail is to less, because modern tanks have Freon anti fire systems. But this systems can be activated only 2 or 3 times. Translated text from the handbook: "With a molotov cocktail a tank of the opponent cant be annihilated, but harmed efficiently. A well placed molotov cocktail makes a tank unable to move and under certain circumstances it forced the crew to bail out. ..." Then follows the description how to made a molotov cocktail. Personally i liked the "geballte Ladung" much more, because we could play with some kilograms of Semtex (czech plastic explosive relativly similar to C4). I remember that one trainer made a do it yourself shaped charge explosive device which punched easily a hole trough a T-54 turret front. Was a nice big bang. Mixing of Thermit and later igniting was fun too. Cool fireworks. Only Napalm i disliked, it stinks pathetic.

The use of the VK-1 engine for de-icing the runways was common in the WP contries. Here one of the east german versions. It worked very well.

This will become a little bit OT and has few to do with the movie "Fury". But okay. There was a lot of training i had, starting with molotow cocktail, anti tank handgranade, RPG-7 (only a short introduction), RPG-18 (a lot of time), anti tank mines, making of geballte Ladung (dont know the english term), detecting weak and strong points of panzers, creep into the "dead zones" of a panzer and so on and so on and so on. What a waste of time. I made some mobilephonephotos of my old military handbook which covers a little bit basic knowledge of Panzernahbekämpfung. The more important handbook "Panzernahbekämpfung moderner Panzer und Schützenpanzer der NATO" i have at home too. But i will not release pages here, because I dont know, who will read it and i dont want to give the know how to kill an Abrams in wrong hands.

One Sherman vs hundrets of german soldiers which are armed with Panzerfaust and the Sherman survived. LOL. This tank was known as "Tommy-Kocher" or "Ami-Kocher". One shot with Panzerfaust and the tankcrew will sit on the cloud and sing with the angles. This picture shows a Sherman after hit by Panzerfaust. Its cooked, thatswhy "Ami-Kocher". And this would have been the end of the movie from tactical and technical standpoint. But this would not have been heroic enough for Hollywood.

Its a correct ban. If a player countiniously attacks referees and other players then he should banned for ever.

Would love to see such things...

Its astonishing how similar are american and soviet WW2 movies. All american/soviet soldiers are great heros, smart, brave invincible. The Krauts/Fritzuji are dumb cowards. "Fury" has some good points. The effects are nice, but seen from tactical and technical poit of view it is ridiculus. Its like George Lucas "Red Tails" nonsense.

The north vietnamese too? They used it against China in 1979 and their pilots loved the Tiger more than the MiG-21.

I agree with you. To much testosteron and to less brain on both sides. The real danger is seen over a long term the growing China and the african emigration. On short term the arabic turmoil.

11 Ways WWI Could have Turned Out Differently...

"Dolsschloss" thats nice. "Dollschloss", its a funny "denglish" term (or should i say "germlish"?) what would mean "puppetpalace" or so. I think you mean "Dolchstoß" what could be translated with "dagger stab".
