  1. i just realized.... this game has been around long enough to have retro styling! looking forward to it Menrva, makes me want to dust off my loading screen project..
  2. wild guess: you dont have the max file to pass on ....
  3. well, think of it like if Erik shut this site down. he isnt under any obligation to make an announcement (especially given how many use it for free) but Erik would, giving the reasons if it were in his power to do so. but especially for the recent purchase folks an announcement, even to the tune of you got three days get your stuff or lose it, should be made. honestly, how many of us have thought "he's gone and yanked it finally" when the store and download sections went down the last couple of times. not expecting forever service, just an announcement to more than his dining room wall when it is over. as to local copy, you'd better. thats just good backing up practice
  4. just access to previous purchases, or an announcement that he's shutting it down. the hiccups with the store and download section lately are troubling....
  5. in a conflict like what you are describing, those two would be evacuated anyhow, at least to Tinker in Oklahoma and more likely to a mix of Castle (California), McConnel (Kansas), and Blytheville/Eaker (Arkansas). Out of red tac air range but still somewhat close to the fight. Barksdale is a question mark but i think the Louisiana Air Guard would get federalized and begin a CAP rather than just a 5 minute alert. Same goes for Texas Air Guard in this scenario. Jets to be used depends on when you set the action up for (F-102, F-4C or F-15/F-16)
  6. No Dyess or Carswell (now Fort Worth JRB)? Where will the Buffs and Bones stay? seriously tho, looking good. and if you added the above bases it would be a very good reason for a Soviet backed invasion and for the USSR to give such support to put a threat closer to major SAC bases. Cuba 62 without the nukes or Russians in uniform........ and yes i see now it would probably be at the edge of the map
  7. Please bear in mind that swamp gas should be uploaded in the Effects Mods part of the SF2 DL section looks awesome tho. whats the secret on the green man in the light?
  8. while many are interested in the Tomcat, the ones who have done the most as far as mods are pretty busy IRL now. however, Gimp and the tutorials posted here are free. only needs the time spent on makin em (stares back at ya.....)
  9. sorry to hear that. you can try Facebook message as well. good luck!
  10. Its back up gents. through site or emailed link
  11. yes we have an infantry squad( Ground Object ), no i'm not sure where its from (the other Kevin could likely answer better). my thought was the squad sitting, then deploy and they are prone covering the Huey. do it like the paratroopers (which are weapons) with sitting being the loaded on bird lod and prone being the crater (cause thats how cargo objects work)
  12. no worries, i also sent a message through FB, and its been seen. so we'll see where it goes from there.
  13. AeroViper, was there a code in the email? if so go to the support section, then the Download section on that page. it should ask for your email and code, then take you to the games you have bought so far its been a few years since i bought anything from TW so i dont think its supposed to work that way first time, but its how to get your purchased games the 2d or 58th time downloading from the site. if there wasnt a code in the email, i would reach out on twitter and FB as well. either way, keep all copies correspondence and game files once you get them, as glitches like this are becoming more common for the SF2 series folks Edit: just tried it from my email with code, and no dice there either. will be taking my own advice after breakfast and posting to support and FB
  14. well, if we had the max file for the infantry squad out there, i think it would be not much to set up a couple of stations for sitting joes, that sprout up on deployment. getting them back in would be a different story.......
  15. wheres that drooling emoji?
  16. do you have the Squadron in Action book? it has some black and white pics in the RB-57E chapter, and mentions nothing about weapons
  17. makes you wonder what a BLU-82 or a MOAB would do.....
  18. i know the date: in two weeks mandatory screenie
  19. awesome work. one thing i notice looking at the photo vs skin is the air refueling markings(white and black) still contrast quite a bit. if you have it as a separate layer, simply reducing the opacity some should work to gray it out a little. that panel line work kicks ass, looking forward to the rest of the USAF
  20. my two cents.... as a Backfire or Badger blocker for the North Atlantic, this sounds like an excellent project kblomkvist is very much correct about the fake pilot pylons. this leads to the ini dance to place them..... just copy the information from the F-4M or F-14A for radar into the data.ini. But I would leave the HUD alone, as the Bomb/Nav would likely be working that anyhow and giving the pilot steering cues. keeps the same crew work dynamic, and the point is to nail the Sov's a hundred miles out, not dogfight with a Badger. and despite the Vulcans reputation, it would not handle any fighters of the late 1970s thru mid 80s save maybe the Tu-128! yes you could carry more in the bomb bay. but load out for the regular Vulcan was 21x 1000 lb Bombs internally(thats 21000 lb). 12 Phoenix would be 12000- 13000 lbs alone, not to mention pylon weight and drag. better to have fuel in the bomb bays, and maybe operational load of 8 Phoenix (this will also save your sanity when doing the ini dance to position pylons and weapons). This would likely go down as an quick response operational capability, so yes think quick and easy to slap on (like hte ARM capability in the last few Black Buck missions)
  21. esp if the Hog used in the fly off was a YA-10 without the GAU-8. but the point of the Hog was simplicity, it still has cables to back up the flight controls! my two take aways looking it up were that the point of the fly off was to pick one in 1973. instead the A-10 was judged overall better, but the A-7 kept and shifted to the ANG as Hogs became available. Good for lower intensity settings (most advanced combat aircraft allowed by treaty in Panama prior to Dec 1989) and as a back up when the Hog population got low (if the war over the Fulda Gap stayed non nuclear long enough). I also thought the bit about a SLUF with an Avenger was interesting too @Stratos, wasnt Cocas working on one sometime ago? it was up his alley as a what if project for sure before he went quiet
  22. the Hog won due to longer loiter times with the same load of Mk82s as the competing A-7, as well as greater lethality of the 30mm cannon vs 20mm cannon. interestingly, it was considered to stretch the A-7 and add a podded GAU-8 with 500 rds before the flyoff. sound familiar?
  23. we read different books sir one account i recall was the eval of the F-106 vs the F-4B. the F-106 was a pick up crew from many units and many rookies. The F-4B team was drawn from VF-74 which had recently achieved IOC. All star team as a F-106 pilot complained in Century Series Jets, the cards got stacked against the Six, which like any other aircraft is highly capable in the right hands.(the pilot narrating then told in what ways the Six/Falcon combo was superior to the Phantom/Sparrow) point is, why send in the scrubs if the eval was forced on them? or was it a scrub team to show how the USAF needed the F-110A? by all accounts the same tricks are ongoing with the F-35/A-10 fly off which only lasted a week and has conflicting accounts (JTAC or not, partial cannon loads for the Hog to name a few) other than it wasn't what Congress wanted. it wouldn't be the first time a show was put on to make a sale....
  24. yes i did, but disregard until strahi answers the question..... how did you target a ship 59km away?
