B28 FI (full fuzed internal)
KJakker replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
@Menrva I think you are over focused on the 5 psi ring on NukeMap. Check the definitions of the overpressure effects listed below. 5 psi is for residential building, not hardened aircraft shelters which are reinforced concrete. As for putting together a group in PM for anyone interested in working as part of a modding effort to update the in game nukes then yes I think such a project is a good idea. However we should keep a public thread to share info with others as I am sure their are people who don't have time to join a group but could offer advice if shown periodic updates. I have attached the Surface Burst counterpart to the Air Burst list of NukeMap effects of in game US bomb yields. Note, the casualty figures are significantly off from the Air Burst list above because I used a different target but physical effects should still be correct for our needs. B28 FI (full fuzed internal)
KJakker replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
I just had an idea. We could modify the "Range" terrain's Target Areas to clear them of the present arrangement of targets. Then we can then place different types of buildings, reinforced concrete, cement, steel, brick and wood frame houses, etc at a series of known distances from ground zero and see what type of effect bombs of known yields have upon each object type. Then compare that effect observed with the one for that yield bomb indicated by NUKEMAP. I have already collected the NukeMap data for air burst of all necessary in game US bomb yields. I just need to do so for ground burst then. I am working on updating the nuke explosion effect for each bomb yield as well, hence the data collection I have been doing. Nukemap_AB_Data_for_SF2_bomb_effects.docx As an aside, try changing the WarheadType=14 to WarheadType=0 (High Explosive) and WarheadType=5 (Fuel Air Explosive) and test the bomb again to see how things differ from when set to Nuclear Fission and WarheadType=15 (Nuclear Fusion). I just found this out.

Consider this very much a work in progress. Especially the "UserList" files. Edit: Oops, I forgot to adjust the radar frequency, will fix later. Edit2: Adjusted the radar frequency. KJakker WIP Russian Defense Pack Update 0.1.7z

Be sure to give the ventral bays a modified "EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-98.0" in order to throw the missiles clear when launched. Here are AIM-9/120's that I have been using on the existing F-22A & F-35A/B/C. F-22 F-35 Launch Bay AAM.7z

Extending the drawing distance for fading objects
KJakker replied to mue's topic in General Discussion
I have notice that new SF2 players are often unaware of this threads existence. Could both the Extending the drawing distance for fading objects thread (this thread) and Mue's shimmering TODs and target objects thread be pined or moved to the Knowledge Base? -
Is the mission you are having trouble on "Bearbaiting" with the SJ Sathanas, or are you referring to the "Good Luck" mission with the SD Lucifer in the FreeSpace 1 campaign? Remember that the heavy bombs do more damage if you go to full burner before you launch them as they will carry the additional velocity with them. Also you often have to launch from the inner side of each claw of the SJ Sathanas to hit its beam cannon. Remember to be sure that the targeting bracket on the targeted subsystem is showing a square before you launch or your shots may not be hitting the targeted subsystem/turret. https://wiki.hard-light.net/index.php/Bearbaiting https://wiki.hard-light.net/index.php/Good_Luck

Nuclear Weapons Redux (70s and 80s)
KJakker replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
I will be happy to help out like I did with the internal B28 bombs. -
@Wrench How has FreeSpace 2 been for you over the past month?

Just a quick update. I am RMAing my motherboard with the manufacturer so that should solve the issue. Thanks for all the help.

Speaking of big hand guns take a look at this. My latest firearm is a 1911, but one of my favorites is the Mauser G33/40 my grandfather brought back from WWII. It was partly sporterized back in the 1960's but it still shoots great. I have found AR pattern rifles uncomfortable to shoot in the past but it may be due to the M4 style collapsible stock. I have never had a chance to shoot one in the fix stock configuration. If a classic stock proves to be the answer then I am looking at getting a BRN-10A for my next firearm.

I just found out the cause of the issue I am having. My board was manufactured before the July 2019 so it does not have the a BIOS that supports 3rd Gen Ryzen™ Desktop Processors. See this link for details. -> https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-100

I do have a video card but for troubleshooting I am using the onboard video to remove variables. I plugged in the case speaker but I think it is defective as I do not recall it ever working. Here is a link to my motherboard. https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450 Pro4/index.asp#Support I do not have Windows 10. I am still on Windows 7 Ultimate. I had planned on waiting and doing an upgrade from Win7 to Win10 at the first of the year. I also have a help thread over on The Tech Report forum as well if you want to read it. https://techreport.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=122152

I have removed and remounted the CPU, CPU cooler, and the DIMMs with no change. I have taken a video clip of what happens when I power it on and attached it below. DSC_0865.MOV Also here are three photos that I took of the inside of the case as it is now.

Just to let you know I have not been able to get BIOS to show up on screen. Just a continuous power on/off/on cycle.

I switching from Intel to AMD. Replacing an i7 920 on an Asus P6T board with an AMD Ryzwn 7 3700X on an ASRock B450 Pro4 board.

Everything in physically assembled and I have powered it on. It seems to be powering up, the LED's on the CPU cooler fan and the GPU light up and the fans run for a few seconds while the LED on the optical drive blinks, then they shut off for a second or two and then continuously repeats this behavior. What should be happening?
