  1. Thanks for sharing these beautiful poems!
  2. Nice one, Viper! I once tried to make a black skin for the YF-12A re-released by Wrench for SF2, but it didn't look all that great IMHO. I hate doing requests, but if you can, can you consider doing such a skin for the YF-12A? I have some photos of the real YF-12A, with serial number, etc.
  3. I have the same problem with the Saudi F-15S included in the F-15 Super Pack. I swear I have checked the userlist.ini, decals.ini and data.ini, they have the correct nation name listed... odd. Follow Wrench's advice, maybe I missed something, most likely the texture set .ini has a wrong nation name.
  4. Yep, version 10 sounds good (this doesn't apply to Microsoft and their latest OS ), it's never easy to get rid of all bugs at once, this applies to my terrain as well. Thanks to you and the other modders who are working on other stuff, planes, etc., I'm pretty sure we can revive the Iran/Iraq war mod project, as well as updating ODS as it was meant to be.
  5. I guess no, but the packages will be updated to include these updates in the future, I think.
  6. Same as with nVidia drivers, it seems that Intel's recent drivers bring the same anomalies. Revert to your old drivers, and everything should be fine. Out of curiosity, are you using Windows 10? I'm wondering why there are so many bugs that were introduced by video card drivers recently, although it happens on a variety of operative systems, not only on Windows 10, as far as I know. SF2 is not receiving updates for two years, but if it worked before, it should work even on latest driver releases; I guess that they (nVidia, Intel, maybe ATI too) don't even test their drivers before official release.
  7. If it is due to ground objects, then I'm wondering which one precisely does this. Maybe it's a LOD or .ini issue of a particular object we have in our mods, who knows...
  8. Thanks for making such thread, Spudknocker. I have a similar problem and it is annoying, I don't know why it happens. I'm wondering if it is caused by a bug in the original game, or if there is a ground object, a .ini file, or whatever it may be (a mod, an addon aircraft/ground object) that freezes the game. My PC is low spec compared to yours, so I think it has nothing to do with our PC specs.
  9. Thanks for posting this, Dave! Actually I have done most of these tweaks to my Win10 already, but surely it will be useful for less experienced users. My small advice is not to follow what the guy on the video suggests while in the System Protection tab, when you are in the control panel. He disables system restore points, and those can save your system's life if anything goes wrong with Windows 10 (damned) automatic updates or if you get a virus, etc. PS: actually there is a way to disable Windows 10 automatic updates, but that takes quite a while to do.
  10. Wow, thanks a lot, Crusader! I really want to be as precise as possible with this terrain. I'm afraid it will be exactly like the stock SF2 terrains, only 63% of RL size, but it's going to be very detailed for sure. Feel free to send me a PM when you can.
  11. I'm still working on the terrain, but due to RL and a mod I'm working on for another game (yes, I mod other games too), I ceased development recently, but I'll continue from where I stopped. Here some screenshots from TFD Tool, no ingame shots atm, sorry. The Tigris river is a PITA, but if the hand-tiling worked great for the Euphrates, it will work good for this one too. Some targets still mis-placed, they'll be reworked when rivers and roads are totally added. Feel free to compare these shots with the ones posted in my previous posts to see the (slow) progress I made.
  12. Yeah, Wrench, you're right. I totally forgot that ClrGlass.tga is a stock SF2 file in the .cat, so the only way to get rid of the canopies is to try to remove the meshes as you suggested. Or we can always paint the .tga file to create something different, like fake cannons and laser beams.
  13. Very nice, reminds me of the UFOs you could enable as a cheat in the old but gold game F-22 Total Air War. There should be a way to remove the two cockpit canopies through .ini editing or maybe by editing the relevant .tga file, as I'm pretty sure they're caused by the ClrGlass.tga file, maybe try to remove it from the package and let's see what happens. Alternatively you can create a whole new ClrGlass.tga file and paint the cannons in it.
  14. I've seen it already, a very nice documentary indeed. Thanks for posting this one here, Fubar512!
  15. I've seen it and already downloaded it, great job guys! I'm still slowly working (due to RL) at the new terrain for ODS and Iran/Iraq war, let's hope that sooner than later I manage to complete it, so we can see these beauties fly over it.
  16. Thanks, Wrench! Nice addition to the SF2 What If Hangar.
  17. KJakker, you're probably confusing cast shadows with the bump map effect, that is caused by terrain shaders and bump map textures, it has nothing to do with shadows.
  18. The 353.62 version should fix the issues as stated by other users. I'm stuck with an old GeForce 310, and the latest drivers for it are version 341.81, old but working and Windows 10 compatible. The 353.62 seems the most recent stable release for the newest graphic cards, the only problem is that each nVidia release contains game ready drivers for the latest games. Unless you plan to play the latest games, you're good to go.
  19. Revert to previous nVidia drivers, new ones cause these issues. I think your thread is the fourth or fifth about these glitches caused by the now damned nVidia drivers, we'd better stick to just one of these topics so that future users can find an answer to this problem easily.
  20. Well said, Dave. What about the other variants? I already know of the B (bullsh*t-plated F-35) and the C (crap-plated) variants, I hear there is an S variant too, completely sh*t-plated, as well as my favourite, the D variant (dollar-plated F-35). Ok, I guess it wasn't so funny, quitting now. I still have hopes that the F-35 proves to be a worthy multirole fighter (my country has bought a fleet of them for the Navy and the Air Force), although I would have liked to see more Raptors for Uncle Sam in the air instead. Probably too expensive and too much stealth technology in it, not good for selling of course.
  21. There should be one included in the decals folder of the Black Sea Crisis mod package by eburger IIRC. I'm not 100% sure and I can't check atm, maybe others can confirm. Looking forward to your Medals Packs, medals are one of the things that I like in SF2.
  22. I have PS Elements 7 and it doesn't handle the .tgas properly too, I mean I can't touch the alpha channel since it doesn't show it, so I use other alternatives like Paint.NET with user-made plug-ins. Back to topic, I use XnView for my conversions from .bmp to .jpeg; you can even set the quality of the compression, I always set it to 100% in order to keep max details but with less space thanks to how the .jpeg works. You can select lots of files, even 400 or more, and it works, rarely crashed in the past, the last version should be more stable indeed.
  23. Yeah, graphics card drivers are the problem. Many have posted similar threads around here, the latest nVidia drivers (I assume you have nVidia, if ATI then I have no clue) are creating these issues, you'd better revert to old ones until the nVidia guys fix all this mess. I have an old GeForce 310, and I'm forced to stay with 341.81 drivers, old ones but working, after all I don't play new games these days.
  24. Me like! Thanks a lot, daddyairplanes! EDIT: I guess viper63a was referring to the fact that there are two zipped files for download, both with the same name and I guess the same content, you might want to fix it.
  25. Man, I didn't know that, and I'm building a terrain myself, I should have known this, lol, thanks for the heads up. Yeah, my apologies russouk2004, I know you're an expert modeler, I knew you got it right. BTW thanks for including both woodland and desert skins, some ground objects did miss them in the past.
