  1. Eagle Dynamics Loyalty Program Following a lengthy client satisfaction review of our existing Bonus Program, we are delighted to announce the new DCS World Loyalty Program. This will replace the Bonus Program and will provide a simpler way to earn rewards and more freedom to use them! ED Miles are similar in many ways to airline miles and can be earned/awarded and used as follows: Regardless if a product has just been released, is already on sale or in pre-purchase, you will always earn ED Miles on the price you paid for the purchase. For each purchase, you will earn 10% of the Purchase Price in ED Miles. As an example: if you purchase something for USD 29.99 you will be awarded 2990 ED Miles worth USD 2.99 on the DCS World e-Shop. You can use ED Miles to purchase any product participating in the program, regardless if they are just released, already on sale, or as a pre-purchase! There is no limit on the number of ED Miles you can use for a purchase. If you have enough ED Miles, you can even pay for an entire product just using ED Miles. ED Miles earned are valid for three calendar years from the time of your last DCS World e-Shop purchase. Existing Bonus points will expire in 2019 on a date to be confirmed. Note that ED Miles cannot be redeemed for cash or any other conversion, and a list of 3rd parties participating in the program will be provided at launch. DCS: F-14 Tomcat Coming Next Week The F-14 Tomcat developed by Heatblur Simulations will be available next week on 13 March 2019 for both the DCS World e-Shop and Steam. Purchase now and take advantage of the pre-order discount; only a few days are left! Purchase from DCS e-shop The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is a two-crew, variable geometry, maritime air superiority fighter that served with the US Navy for 32 years and continues to serve with the IRIAF in Iran. The F-14 was the US Navy's frontline fighter from the 1970s until the mid-2000s. Over the course of its long service life it also became the US Navy’s premier precision ground-attack platform and lone airborne reconnaissance asset. Outstanding features of the aircraft are the swing-wing configuration, crew of two, and the powerful AN/AWG-9 Weapons Control System (WCS) and radar. The AWG-9 allows employment of the powerful AIM-54 Phoenix air to air missile while the LANTIRN pod allows the ability to carry out precision ground strikes using laser guided bombs. The F-14 Tomcat was present during many pivotal historic moments such as the two Gulf of Sidra incidents, Operation Desert storm in Iraq, the conflict in Yugoslavia, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom. It was also immortalized in the iconic motion picture, Top Gun, and starred in several other feature films including The Final Countdown, Executive Decision, and others. DCS: Christen Eagle II Available on Steam The Christen Eagle II by Magnitude 3 LLC is now available on Steam. The Christen Eagle II, which later became the Aviat Eagle II in the mid-1990s, is an aerobatic biplane aircraft that has been produced in the United States since February 1977. Designed by Frank Christensen, a veteran WW2 P-51D pilot and aerobatic competitor, it was originally built to compete with the Pitts Special. You’ll find that the Eagle is hard to beat in terms of flying excitement and adventure, and yet the ease of control allows even average pilots to feel like masters of aerobatics. Dare to fly like a true eagle, whether you are learning to fly, or you are an experienced pilot. Inside this powerful aerobatic beauty, you can enjoy solo aerobatics, do tight formation flying, graze the landscape sightseeing, or speed race down the track. You can even teach other people to fly. The smoke system allows you to visualize your stunts for yourself and other viewers. To extend the Eagle’s prowess in DCS, we implemented an internal and external light system which will keep you safe day and night, and a simple autopilot which will allow you to grab your favorite drink while your aircraft safely levels and awaits your return. Sincerely, The Eagle Dynamics Team
  2. You have to learn yourself for the most part ............this series started what around 2002 with the Wallmart SF Project 1 so some people were on this for years. TK has given out small bits of information in the past but it depends what part of modding you want to do. It helps if you have some computer literacy because you need to edit, move and save files on a Windows based OS. A lot of things can be done in Notepad pretty easily but may still take time and effort. If you want to do skins you need to learn to do them using a package like GIMP/Photoshop so need to learn about those. To do 3D models you need to spend a lot of time learning how to do that. Flight models - although ini edits really need some understanding of aero here - again not something you can pick up easily. Then writing your own tools needs full on programming skills.
  3. Was thinking that looks good......till I saw this video of a Heron surfing on an Alligator

  5. Depends. Extent of damage to engine mounts?, one engine mount damaged or more?, what else is keeping the engine in place? etc etc etc etc Only example I know of the F-4 flew back to base and landed. Another case might be different. Who would know? Only someone who either has years dealing with multiple cases of Over G damage or can access records on over G damage in an airforce. Any point sticking in a computer game? None whatsoever the amount of work required considering 99.9% of the player base can't have any idea of the reality or ever care means a pointless endeavour. Realistic damage modelling to a practical level is all you could ever expect.....for anything else join an Airforce.
  6. Apparently the ultimate load limit was 150% universally of the max G for the specific configuration and flight conditions (4 Gen anyway). That is what they are tested to so the break point is unknown unless someone goes through it outside of testing and breaks something.
  7. I have a Dhimar Camo F-100D and the Lightning F.53 but not sure where they came from....look nice though.
  8. Behold the sales pitch F-4E_F German Summary Report.pdf
  9. Spot the SF screenshot. https://hushkit.net/2019/02/13/phantom-pregnancies-f-4-variants-that-never-were/ Everyone loves the F-4 Phantom, a brutal smoking Cold War monster that polluted the sky in an apocalyptic belch of black sooty thunder. As thrilling as the actual Phantoms that entered service were, there is a tantalising family of F-4s that almost made it into the real world. Several of them were cancelled for being too good and threatening sales of newer aircraft — and one succeeded in its role as a unique test aircraft. Here are some of the Phantoms that never were.
  10. Sorry I had clearly forgotten about that little detail. It shouldn't happen after that IIRC - unless you are sticking in old ini files back in with differences to that patch level. I think keeping the folder and ini file the game put in by default was important for avoiding issues like this as well I seem to remember - as I would modify (not replace) the default basic XXX.ini for each aircraft and then copy the rest of the files over from an old install .
  11. Delete options.ini and version.ini in the mod folders for the particular install then run the game...........I think this was the fix for this. Only ever seen an overwrite with a patch under normal running.
  12. DCS World Lunar New Year Sale Save 50% off on most DCS World products until 14 February 2019! The DCS: F/A-18C Hornet and DCS: Persian Gulf Map are available for 25% off. Take advantage of this great opportunity from here. Exceptions include recently released and pre-order titles: DCS: Christen Eagle II by Magnitude 3 LLC, DCS: F-14 Tomcat by Heatblur Simulations, and the A-10C Enemy Within 3.0 Campaign by Baltic Dragon. DCS World Open Beta Update This weeks Open Beta update changelog can be found here. Highlights include: Updates to the recently released DCS: Christen Eagle II and MiG-21bis by Magnitude 3 LLC Updates to the C-101EB and C-101CC by AvioDev Hornet updates like corrected LAU-61 rocket weight, AIM-7 guidance without radar lock, and updated BRA and A/A Waypoint color and BRA selection Updates to several campaigns The Enemy Within 3.0 Campaign by Baltic Dragon This week Baltic Dragon’s latest A-10C campaign was released that can be purchased here. The Enemy Within 3.0 is a complete remake of the critically-acclaimed The Enemy Within campaign for the A-10C Warthog. This story-driven campaign puts you in cockpit of the Warthog as part of a small, 6-ship US detachment sent to Georgia. Your mission is to help contain a growing threat from a terrorist organization calling itself the "Caucasus Liberation Army" (CLA). As the story unfolds, you will be faced with a variety of challenges, including close air support, precision strikes, combat search and rescue, anti-ship strikes, and even air to air combat. Striving to be as realistic as possible, the units featured in the campaign are based on their real-life counterparts. It also uses a sophisticated radio control system, meaning that you must tune your on-board radios to the correct frequency to hear the more than 2000 custom voice overs available throughout 21 missions.Compared to the original campaign, version 3.0 offers following great additions and changes: 20 out of 21 missions have been rewritten from scratch. This includes the course of action, dialogues, briefings and background information More than 2/3 of the missions take place in different locations than the original ones, and most feature different challenges and enemies to provide a completely new experience, 3 entirely new missions that are designed to complement and extend the storyline The 8 pilot and 3 commander characters featured throughout the campaign have almost 4x more custom voice overs (over 2100) Additional documents and custom kneeboard pages are available for each sortie DCS: F/A-18C Hornet Update Our Hornet team continues their hard work on the cockpit systems, sensors and weapons of the F/A-18C. The current focus is on: Target of Opportunity (TOO) and Pre-Briefed (PB) HARM modes. Once complete, we will start work on the Litening II targeting pod for the Hornet; the ATFLIR will come at a later point in early access. Note that US Marine Corps Hornet’s operate the Litening II pod. However, this is not a simple copy and paste from the A-10C Litening II pod; this is still a significant amount of work, but it will allow us to bring a Hornet TGP into the game faster than the ATFLIR A huge amount of work is ongoing with the data link (D/L). This is probably the most complex system for the Hornet given the network sharing and new code that needs to be created. We are making good progress, and it will be a “game changer”. This will also address a new system of IFF in which locking an aircraft is no longer required to IFF interrogate it. The Hornet can operate on a D/L network and receive and correlate data from other Link-16 equipped aircraft (F/F) and surveillance aircraft like E-2 and E-3 AWACS (SURV) In additional to cleaning up the DUD and fuze logic / pull-up cue and break X for HD bombs, progress has been quite rapid on JDAM and JSOW. Like D/L, this is also a rather complex task that will take time. Like HARM, these GPS-guided weapons have both TOO and pre-planned modes with many attack options Work is ongoing on the Latent Track While Scan (LTWS) and Track While Scan (TWS) air-to-air radar modes. This will in turn tie into the D/L We expect to see several of these items available this month. New DCS World Features Available now in the Open Beta and coming soon, are two new features for DCS World: Wake Turbulence. Just like the wake behind a ship, an aircraft also produces a turbulence wake behind it, with the strongest forces coming off the wingtips as vortices. DCS World will now be modeling these as an option and will add a new level of realism and challenge when flying formations, aerial refueling, and air-to-air combat. Battle Damage Assessment. Displayed along the left side of the screen when a target is damaged or destroyed by the player, these notifications appear. A red notification indicates a destroyed target and a yellow notification with a percentage indicates a damaged target. When in the cockpit, it can often be difficult to know if a target was hit and damaged. This optional feature is provided to remove that mystery. DCS: MiG-19P Farmer Update The MiG-19P was originally planned for a release in January, but after an extensive review of the MiG-19, we and RAZBAM have decided to postpone its release until a few items are resolved. These include some needed improvements to the flight model and documentation. It’s RAZBAM’s desire to release the MiG-19P in a finished state so it will need just a little more time in the oven to meet this expectation. Sincerely, The Eagle Dynamics Team
  13. There are others in the SF2 knowledgebase section - look there
  14. DCS: C-101 Aviojet and DCS: Christen Eagle II Release Reviews Since the successful release of the Christen Eagle II and the C-101CC, some great reviews have been created that discuss these great modules! DCS: Christen Eagle II Reviews: Purchase from the E-Shop. MagzTV Jabbers Crash Laobi 504smudge DCS: C-101 Reviews: Purchase from the E-Shop Mudspike 504smudge Spudknocker Rakuzard (German) We plan to release both the Christen Eagle II and the C-101 into Steam in February 2019. DCS World Update Early this week we released two Open Beta updates that included items like: Hornet: Laser-Maverick tracking range and laser code entry fixes Corrected VR projection to both eyes AIM-7 loft trajectory Updates to the Christen Eagle II and C-101 You can see the complete change logs here & here. Today we have moved the compilation of the past Open Betas into the Release version of DCS World. You can read the change log of this update here. DCS: Fw 190 A-8/F-8 Shrike Update Progress remains rapid on the Shrike with a release set for later this year. The Fw 190 A-8 will be an excellent counterpart to the Spitfire Mk.IX and provide a period-correct aircraft for the Normandy map. The F-8 version will provide the Luftwaffe a capable ground attack aircraft to match the upcoming P-47D and Mosquito. As you can see from the screenshots, a huge amount of detail is being put into this model that allows for spectacular battle damage results. Sincerely, The Eagle Dynamics Team
  15. I take it you are referring to series 1 games WOV etc?
  16. If you have a recent NVIDIA GTX10XX or RTX20XX card then driver 417.71 will allow it to work with the much cheaper AMD Freesync monitors and do Adaptive Sync. DisplayPort only for now I think. https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4764 https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4765 https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4766 https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4767 https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4768 https://www.pcworld.com/article/3333637/components-graphics/nvidia-driver-freesync-monitor-support-geforce-graphics-cards.html It’s the start of a new era. On Tuesday, Nvidia fulfilled its CES promises by releasing GeForce driver 417.71, which lets GeForce graphics cards tap into the Adaptive Sync capabilities of AMD FreeSync monitors for buttery-smooth, tearing-free gaming. Previously, GeForce GPUs could only synchronize their refresh rates with Nvidia’s own G-Sync displays, which tend to cost much more than FreeSync displays. You can snag the driver in the GeForce Experience app or on the GeForce website.
  17. Last week we discussed the many aircraft projects that will be under development in 2019. Today, let’s look at some of the non-aircraft projects. As mentioned last week, we cannot promise that all of these will be released in 2019, but they will all be under focused development. Ships Although we released a greatly improved and free Nimitz-class aircraft carrier at the time of the Hornet release, we are also working on a separate Nimitz-class aircraft carrier module. This product will have an incredible level of detail and include such features as a detailed and operable LSO and Air Boss stations, detailed modeling of the hangar, animated deck crew, briefing room, and control of the carrier. Once this project is complete, the team will finish up the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer and then return to and release the updated Kuznetsov-class aircraft carrier. Combined Arms No combat environment is complete without a good solid ground game, and we continue to improve on and add to your abilities to control ground forces either from a commander position or behind the controls of a single unit. As with 2018, we will continue to address issues and look at new features to improve Combined Arms, based on your feedback, throughout 2019. We will continue to add new content in the form of new units both to the core sim and the WWII Asset Pack, as well as exciting new missions and campaigns. We are currently at work on new CA-related effects like main gun fire, dust trail, localized damage, and smoke grenades, while also working on improved ground unit AI like line-of-sight issues, pathing, and more intuitive control. Radio Communications The biggest radio communications task are the aircraft carrier communications that includes CASE I, CASE II, and CASE III for departure, marshal, approach, and the Landing Signal Officer (LSO). Once this massive task is complete, we will move on to an overhaul of the airbase radio communications. New Maps With 2018 we saw the release of the DCS: Persian Gulf Map. For 2019 we and our partners are working on two new World War II maps, a Syria map, a Falkland Islands map, and a new free map that we’ll discuss later in the year. In parallel, we will be finishing up the Persian Gulf map with the addition of Liwa Airbase and Ras Al Khaimah airport; Al Ain Air War College; ruins near Shiraz, Kerman, and Bam; and fix remaining bugs. Once complete, it will be the largest DCS World map as measured from airfield to airfield. Dynamic Campaign While a hangar of great aircraft is certainly a wonderful thing, having an engaging, exciting, and dynamic combat environment is equally important. We have been developing the inner-workings of a dynamic campaign system which will continue into 2019. Based on the strategic goals and tactical situations, the systems will create dynamic Air Tasking Orders (ATO) that players then join to help their side to victory. This work is non-trivial, but we believe the addition of this system should be exciting for DCS users. DCS World Multiplayer In the closing weeks of 2018, we made the Dedicated Server software available to a handful of trusted 3rd party online servers. Based on their feedback, we have been tuning and expanding the software to best suit customer needs. One aspect of the Dedicated Server we are also exploring is the availability of free maps to Dedicated Server hosts. In addition to this new Server software, the team has also been at work developing an integrated Voice Over IP (VOIP) system for DCS World which is based on the growing Web RTC standard. The first phase will allow users to use and create “rooms” and the second phase would integrate the VOIP into in-cockpit radio controls. As mentioned in last week’s newsletter about Modern Air Combat (MAC), we also plan to include leader boards, rankings, and other online statistics for DCS World online players. DCS World Foundation In parallel to all the above, the team continues to work on the foundation items of DCS World like air and ground artificial intelligence, performance optimization, more detailed damage models for all unit types, Vulkan implementation, improved VR optimization and improved Touch Controller support, aircraft wake turbulence. DCS World Steam Edition to DCS World e-Shop Transfer You can now transfer modules purchased on Steam to your DCS World e-Shop installation. Note that this only applies to Steam DLC that uses Steam protection, not StarForce keys. All DCS World DLCs released on Steam from 12th May 2017 can be transferred. Here are some modules released on Steam after 12-May-2017: DCS: M-2000C DCS: NEVADA Test and Training Range map DCS: Spitfire LF Mk.IX DCS: AJS-37 Viggen DCS: Normandy map DCS: WW2 Assets pack DCS: Su-33 for DCS World DCS: AV-8B Night Attack V/STOL DCS: F/A-18C Hornet DCS: Persian Gulf map Please see this link for complete directions Given that Steam no longer accepts our 3rd party license keys, binding of keys purchased on the E- Shop cannot be transferred to the DCS World Steam Edition. Hornet Missions of the Week In our quest to bring more and more great, new content to the Hornet, we are now providing a Hornet Mission of the Week! The first two missions can be found here: River Run Strike Fighter These missions will also be integrated into the Hornet Instant Action list of missions. Sincerely, The Eagle Dynamics Team
  18. 1. Related to another app on there 2. The update screwed Windows The game does work on the latest Win 10 version 1809 and latest NVIDIA drivers - that is what I am running. This really is an option with Win 10 - similar to doing an Update - re-installs windows but keeps files etc (if you tell it too). Settings-> Update and Security -> Recovery ->Reset this PC. Backup to be on the safe side but should go through fine.
  19. You say the icon stays on the windows taskbar - do you get any options if you right click on it? Does Windows button + Up cursor do anything (or right/left)
  20. So StrikeFighters2 Europe.exe / Israel / Vietnam etc all do exactly the same thing? In the NVIDIA profile did you set anything like prefer max performance and vertical Sync to on? Also in settings - is everything in Game Bar and captures off as well?
  21. Do you have any other exes in the main game folder? Where is the game installed?
  22. Try in order: In Windows Settings disable all the Game mode features if you have not done so Security software (AV and Malware) - can you switch off any sandboxes or Anti Virus bits on a temp basis Do you have anything like Samsung magician running in the background? Profile is NVIDIA Control Panel -> Manage 3D Settings -> Program Settings Tab -> Press Add and select game if not done already
  23. Any error messages? What happens if you delete options.ini and versions.ini from saved games and run the game again? Do you have an NVIDIA profile setup? Don't suppose you know if the combo worked before applying any patches.
  24. Previous system to this was an i5 4670K & GTX-780. All my games are on an SSD - it is mostly game loading time that gets reduced not improved FPS etc. Games do often access the disk during play so it can reduce some holdups (stutter) in some games but depends and is system specific. Most likely your HDD is fine assuming it is SATA 3. CPU/RAM/GPU/VRAM/FPS/FrameTime are generally primary concerns when a game is running over Disk access.
  25. Seems to run OK - there are a few changes that might need to be made. I can see for example I am running it in Win 7 Compatibility Mode...others might not be using this at all can vary. I made some comments on Win 10 here with a link to a privacy tool. My system is very custom and very expensive (CPU also overclocked and water cooled) and is self built. Would suggest looking at prebuilds they might also be cheaper. Unless you have any other games that need SLI then would think 1 card is enough. A must for any new system is Solid States disks (SSDs) What resolution do you run your monitors at because I only run currently at Full HD (1080p) single so any higher usually needs more resource. You say you have 1070s? ..........SF was pretty okay with high settings on a single GTX 780 albeit with an i5 running 4.4Ghz on all cores. Are the 1070s proper gaming cards with multiple fans or HP proprietary?
