DCS: Yak-52 Now Available! . DCS: Yak-52 early access will initially be available as part of the DCS World 2.5 Open Beta. The Yakovlev Yak-52 is a tandem seat, radial engine, trainer aircraft that served as the primary aircraft trainer for the Soviet Union and many other nations. Introduced in 1979, the Yak-52 has been a popular choice among air forces given its rugged construction, ease of handling, tricycle landing gear, and simple maintenance. These same characteristic have made it a popular civilian aerobatics aircraft in its later year The Yak-52 is powered by a single Vedeneyev M-14P, nine-cylinder radial piston engine with 360 horsepower. We have created a new radial piston engine simulation from the ground up with a highly-realistic engine cooling model. The aircraft is very response given an empty weight of just one ton and large controls surfaces. Capable of pulling over 7 G and pushing up to negative 5 G, it’s no wonder the Yak-52 has been popular with aerobatic teams around the world. The DCS: Yak-52 provides a realistic pilot training progression from the Yak-52, to the L-39C jet trainer, to modern fighters like the MiG-29 and Su-27. Purchase in DCS e-shop Key Features: Professional Flight Model that duplicates the flight characteristics of the Yak-52 Detailed and realistic simulation of post-stall behavior that allows edge-of and out-of-envelope maneuvers Complete systems modeling of the Yak-52 that includes the engine, fuel, electrical and pneumatic systems Realistic, mouse-interactive cockpit in which almost all controls can be interacted with Accurate external and cockpit sounds that were recorded from a Yak-52 Interactive training missions included. Learn to start up, taxi, takeoff, and land the Yak-52 like a real pilot Multiple liveries as both a military trainer and civilian aerobatic aircraft Cooperative multiplayer. Fly with a friend in the same aircraft Full virtual reality support for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Microsoft Mixed Reality, and others Yak-52 FAQ DCS World 2.5.2 Open Beta Update 8 In addition to providing support for the DCS: Yak-52, update 8 for the DCS World Open Beta bring several other improvements. DCS 2.5.2.20036 changelog Sincerely, The Eagle Dynamics Team

Hi there - so you how far are you - have done this? Before installing this update you should: 1. Ensure that SF2V is properly installed & updated. (Note that SF2 and SF2E must be part of your base install.) 2. Ensure that the Expansion Pack v. 2.1 (Mar. 2010) is installed to your SF2V Mod Folder. (Also, the VPAF Add-on must be installed.) 3. This update is distributed as a two part download. You must unpack both parts. Unpack both SF2V_AG-XP_v2_Sep14_Pt1.7z and SF2V_AG-XP_v2_Sep14_Pt2.7z to a safe place on your drive. Now you're ready to install the update. If you have installed Part 1 and there is a Part 2 it should be just a case of more copying and pasting / overwriting (also for parts 2/3/4) as long as the Installation section in the link above is also followed. You should need all 4 parts to get everything required basically.

North Korea has turned over 55 cases of remains of American troops who died during the Korean War to the United States, which U.S. President Donald Trump got North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to promise to do after a historic, but controversial summit. It’s a positive step, but the U.S. government still has a lot of work to do to give the families of the fallen closure and make the most of this apparent diplomatic momentum. The White House formally announced the repartition operation on July 26, 2018, though the remains arrived at Osan Air Base in South Korea via a U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III transport plane on July 27, 2018, local time. The transfer did appear intended to coincide with the 65th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice Agreement that ended the majority of the fighting on the Peninsula, which the North Korean government celebrates as a holiday called the "Day of Victory in the Great Fatherland Liberation War.” http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/22456/usaf-c-17-brings-remains-of-american-troops-to-osan-air-base-from-north-korea

Climb aboard this week’s episode and hear the harrowing tale of Viper’s shootdown of a North Vietnamese MiG-21 with an untrained RIO in the backseat of his F-4 Phantom. Then learn how he took the call to assist Hollywood as the military adviser to everyone’s favorite flying movie, Top Gun. Think it’s a coincidence that Tom Skerritt’s character—the CO of TOPGUN—was callsign ‘Viper’?! http://fighterpilotpodcast.com/

Adrian Cronauer, who served as inspiration for Robin Williams' breakout character in the 1987 film Good Morning, Vietnam, has died in Virginia aged 79. Like his eponymous character, Cronauer was a radio presenter in Saigon in 1965 and 1966 known best for his enthusiastic early morning greeting and penchant for playing rock'n'roll tunes to raise American troops' morale during the Vietnam War. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-44897634

DCS News & Modern Air Combat
MigBuster replied to MigBuster's topic in Digital Combat Simulator News
MAC is basically Flaming Cliffs 4 so you get some new jets at the same simplified level but with Advanced Flight Models. An F-16 is in development as a high fidelity module only at the moment so potentially in the future.......but that could be 5 - 7 years on current time scales. -
USAF pre-Phantom air superiority fighter?
MigBuster replied to Stratos's topic in Military and General Aviation
Simplicity is all well and good but not always at the expense of capability.....the argument was made for keeping A-10As and A-7Ds in Active Duty and not completely removing the capability the A-7D provided. Yes YA-10 I think however the A-10A didn't receive a comparable bombing system until the early 1990s (LASTE). There is some backup in the A-7D which consists of 3 hydraulic systems and a RAT and some control if any 2 fail....however the argument made is it is far less likely to get hit at higher speeds and it didn't need to go back the next day to try and hit the same target missed the day before. -

The gripe was at the time that it could not replace the A-7D in its primary role (not CAS)- The A-10 in the flyoff was a ww2 a/c which had no avionics - not much point having all those mk-82s if it can only carpet bomb. The A-7D could accuratly hit a tank with a mk-82 by this point. Valid concerns from Vietnam CAS vets. As for range that can be verified now potentially with flight test data. So yeah pull out a few things it can do better - likewise an F-35 can do a lot of A-G things far better and they can be emphasised in the same manner. ;) -

The 1970s A-10A V A-7D flyoff was a bit of a farce as well it seems just to get the A-10 into service. -

500 x Su-27 Vs F-15 Dogfight
MigBuster replied to MigBuster's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
He posted it on the You tube comments As it's come up as a common question, usually the F-15c's Won, sometimes the Su-27's did, the winner usually snowballed towards the end leaving something like 30 aircraft on the winning side and 1 or 2 loosing aircraft surviving. They were all armed with 4x Heat seeking missiles, to keep the fight close in. -

So yes FWIW the DCS module is the later F-5E-3 from 79-1681 with an Auto flaps setting and not the early F-5Es the VNAF received. -

The VNAF did operate the F-5E [Delivered] from 1972.....for example 01638 was used by a defector to bomb the South Vietnam Palace in 75. What I am not sure on is that I think it was an earlier version without the automatic LEF/TEFs to what is in DCS. References on this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/F-5-Tigers-Vietnam-Anthony-Tambini/dp/0828320594 https://www.bookdepository.com/Fall-Flying-Dragon-Albert-Grandolini/9780982553978 http://www.joebaugher.com/usaf_fighters/f5_40.html https://www.amazon.co.uk/Iranian-Tigers-War-Northrop-Sub-Variants/dp/1910294136 The VPAF kindly donated an F-5E to Russia.............there is a video and one of the test pilots who flew it in 1976 and later wrote an account on how he outflew MiG-21/23s in mock dogfights. The F-5C definitely had the fuel probe removed - the VNAF were to be purely defensive. -

Yes I thought the F-5E-3 module was later to what the VNAF used but have not spent the time looking. The F-86F-35 also missed out on the Korean war as well I thought. Was thinking they were intentionally avoiding any of the Cold War Proxy wars. -
SF2 has a mission editor (and campaign customiser) you can buy as DLCs. Before that i used Notepad so have not experienced the missing flights myself. The SF2 mission editor is easy to use and you can create more realistic missions but is limited compared to DCS/BMS The situational awareness thing - in reality you should be able to jump aircraft because nothing should be able to detect you in this era all the time.........just not realistic ever. Now the AI over the SF2 development definitely does have a lot of SA in the later patches - to much as far as I am concerened but in the later patches TK was more driven by the majority of his customers who just wanted a dogfight. Yes the AI uses countermeasures if it has them as far as expendables go. The AI (ace level) can be lethal with guns (MiG-15/17/19 best) but you need to get rid of the red planes on the map and anything else that lets you cheat.....you will then see how difficult it is to keep checking your 6. The AI has different levels of training like other sims so the bottom level (e.g. VPAF) are easy prey whereas the top level (Soviet) can be a nightmare..especially if you are stuck in an F-100! The BMS AI is good with missiles which is where it fights most but not so good with guns but is OK overall I would say. The DCS AI is good with missiles but the worst close in.......... they kind of ignore you and keep going up into some kind of roller coaster pattern until you get bored. Very certain the top level AI cheats and gets a major thrust boost over the player. I have never seen a FW-190 stall out at the top of a climb and level out then pull up again into a vertical climb like a Raptor..nearly fell off my chair. The price is a concern and TK has recently put them up it would seem Here is a log of major changes in SF2 we picked up
