  1. Set the campaign settings at sensible settings - you still need barcaps - but would advise you set them up for other flights. Setting up flights - well should be in the manual somewhere.
  2. You need to manage the campaign yourself really to avaoid that - in my case only do barcaps if there is a lot of enemy air - otherwise set up other flights of F-15s/22s (depending on the year you play) to do barcaps. Cancel any barcaps missions you get and set up BAI and CAS missions for you and any other available strikers in the theatre - you need to take out the tank columns etc and help your ground forces.
  3. Yeah but hey - hes still in business - and im sure he will try to implement as much as he can in the coming years (if he keeps the enthusiasm that is) Im also sure the list of new features must be flipping long by now - everyone wants this that and the other so your gotta be patient. Maybe he will change his mind, maybe he will surprise you.......will see.
  4. Kinda wishing it was for real - be good to see people sticking up for "real" humans rights for once!
  5. At the mo - Adam and the Ants - Kings of the Wild Frontier album
  6. Perfect examples of countries that will never be at the top - anyway who exactly is gonna have a go at Canada with the USA right next to them and it being part of the British commonwealth - btw both Canada and Sweden have troops in Afganistan - so they do have some enemies I guess. As for Sweden - well no one knows it there, if they had something worth nicking the Germans would have been in there - claiming to be neutral and brandashing those tiny swiss army knives wouldnt have stopped much Sorry who has got to the top being nice? - apart from Santa - and even thats debatable - we only see what the press report
  7. Didnt know this film existed till yesterday - when we were chosing which film to see. The 3D thing was novel although blurry in places - and the story was cliche'd and predictable - but still possibly one of the best things ive ever seen.
  8. Quote: "This weapons pack is compatible with the latest patched versions (Oct2008) of SF1 and WOE. Of course use at your own risk. " Use it if you wish - or just put it in a folder on your desktop and take out any weapons you want
  9. Based on Combat Proven effectiveness, worldwide sales, cost effectiveness and safety record the F-16 would be the best lightweight fighter jet of all time - however even though that started out as a LWF (F-16A ~16,000lbs empty) its ended up as a much heavier beast of late (F-16E Over 22,000lbs empty). People have tried to make similar lightweight jets - check out the AIDC F-CK-1 Ching-kuo from Taiwan, and the JF-17 (China/Pakistan). Modern A-A combat does not involve trying to merge with an opponent like in glorified scraps of old - the F-22/F-35 aims to remain undetected and kill an opponent before they know whats hit them. Even if not dealing with a stealth scenario it will be the jet with the better avionics, missiles, support and tactics that probably prevails - which should be long before they see each other. Thats a reason why the F-16E is still a top class lethal weapon.
  10. Using a Cell phone for the Internet! - like living in Hell if my experience is anything to go by - welcome back guys!
  11. Do you create 3D aircraft models? - would be great for the series if you do - there are plenty of people on here who will answer your questions.
  12. Europe is still fairly divided just as its always has been - its a group of sovereign nations which will hopefully stay that way. Regards to the economy I think you will find the Global meltdown we are just emerging from was caused by a housing crisis in the US (well so we are told) so that kinda tells me a lot currently rides on US economic stability. Europe faired pretty badly as a whole and so did the UK - in fact I'm not sure we are even out of recession yet. As for the comments about how the US should act etc on here - being nice to everyone all the time doesn't get you to the top - that's reality!.
  13. Planes not showing - haven't seen that in years - if there really were no enemy jets then it could be an intermittent bug - sometimes you just have to find em. The ships take a while to appear with SF2 - try to arrive on target on time - if not they will eventually appear - maybe something tk needs to change. If you got paddle barges - thats because the game will just choose an object of the correct type in ground objects - so you either take out the paddle barges - or maybe set their availability to RARE. AFAIK there is only 1 output from the game - something you could ask TK about.
  14. Yeah theres a mod in the download section - consists of 2 files that goes in effects - should work on 1 and 2 gen
  15. This one? He makes it to 56k before briefly getting the U2 in the HUD which is radar locked a few times but its up there. Cant tell if they are ever in range for an AIM-9 shot - which is the longest range missile they have - the vid is not high enough res.
  16. IL2 Sturmovik got a simhq console award this year - its the only console sim i know of though
  17. They may have been on bingo fuel, did you target them at all? Since WOI/ SF2 the jets actually try to get home after the fight by getting away quickly - this may also depend on their skill level too i guess
  18. Terrific - whats that recorded with? - FRAPS?
  19. There are rumours of troops being organised on the columbian/Ven border (BBC) over the past few months so would expect they dont want people snooping around. You would have thought the P3 crew would have got their cameras out and taken pics of some real classic warbirds - that camo job they have is pretty cool.
  20. Play it how you want - I have never used labels myself - and tbh getting too close the ground is a sure fire way to get shot down so I cant say im in distance anyway often. I use zoom and trackir for DToss - but often use the LANTIRN or mav view - and sometime padlock
  21. Sounds like something is missing - what game have you installed it into? Suspect it was done for a different game that has the required files in its cats already. The shadows were changed in later patches so removing it might be the only answer - is it using a .shd shadow file or the dynamic in game ones?
  22. Well each to their own but seriously people who have them wont fly without one ever again - takes a bit of getting used to but well worth it to keep looking at your opponent - something you cant do otherwise. What source do you have the IR light is dangerous? all i have found is this on wiki: "The power output of these LEDs is about 500 times lower than the ANSI safe limit for extended exposure (more than 16 minutes)[3] so is no more harmful than ambient light". Ive never played LOMAC but have played Falcon 4 for years so am familiar with modern air combat - that is using reliable radars with lookdown capability and firing off missiles with a good chance of success - and the things turn forever even though turn fights are not best advised. None of these things are really there in most of the 60 - 80s jets. You will find your self changing tactics and ways of fighting quite a bit even during that 20 year period depending on jet and weapons available.
  23. The radar is very handy for avoiding AAA sites - it has limited use for target finding though - but can be done if you follow your steerpoints correctly using the pit dials and have a distance countdown. Then to manually view a ground target for dive bombing I zoom in with TrackIR - although this doesnt always work for small camoed guns. Padlock is handy too - good to have some aids to make up for the lack of airbourn/ground FACs. The A-10A never had a radar AFIAK - not even sure the A-10C is getting one
  24. Using these jets just takes practise - is different to what youve been used to. If you can get a TrackIR - you can zoom in easily and spot jets further out without using icons. In the early F-4s you will have the pleasure of using hopeless missiles and poor radars also.
  25. Some of the schemes look fantastic on this bird!
