  1. Lovely job - looks ace!
  2. Not come across that before tbh - have to assume your system cant handle it - what are your system specs? is it quite an old PC??
  3. It has FBW from what ive read - I think Ezlead used to fly one of these so would actually know!
  4. There's me thinking the German Air Force might have a more professional attitude when given such responsibility
  5. It wouldnt be that bad surely - weve managed for the past 29 years okay with Harriers. Some positives would be: 1. Ramps don't fail like steam catapults. 2. The Jets can land pretty much anywhere and don't need long runways 3. A quantum leap in progress from the Harrier. And before anyone says - yes they can land pretty much anywhere so when the carrier goes down at least we save the planes! The AEW thing is not so good - agree there As for refuelling - even A-4s with buddy packs managed that - they can get something for the F-35 too surely
  6. By 1972 some of the VPAF pilots had 6+ years combat experience in various MiGs - and im pretty sure they had to be on alert 24/7 during most of that time. One pilot mentioned a lot is Tranh Hanh - one of the first fighter pilots to complete training in China - became a flight leader of the 921st in 1964, promoted to command the 921st in 1966 - became deputy commander in chief of the VPAF in 1976!! "Considered to have exceptional aeronautical skill". Although he claimed kills is not actually listed in the leading VPAF aces. sadly he only mentions 3020 in its June 1968 state used by the 923rd - which already has 7 stars on it - and saying it was used by (claimed) 6 kill ace "Le Hai" at that time. On the 10th May 72 he only lists 2 pilots being shot down in MiG-17s (Nguyen Hang/ Nguyen Van Tho)- but then again he is sticking to what he was given access to in the late 1990s (which you would hope he was doing!!)
  7. Unfortunately Colonel Tomb didn't actually exist - even Wikipedia tells you that Istvan Toperczer who has has researched VPAF war files tells us Colonel Tomb or Toon was fictitious. A photo of a MiG-21PF (4326) with 13 kill markings was released in 68 to the worlds press who its said wrongly credited the markings to a single pilot who they assumed was Colonel Tomb - but in fact the tally was made up by several pilots who flew 4326. The real VPAF ace of aces "Capt Nguyen Van Coc" actually flew that MiG-21PF. Many of the aces flew both types.
  8. WHAT - just saw the AGM thing and assumed it must be - well go with either then ;)
  9. You resized the skins to 512 x 512 but they are not appearing is that the problem? RE the weapons - no the game doesnt have a weapons folder by default - you just create that. There is no end of threads on this subject if you get stuck btw - and look in the knowledge base too
  10. Iron bombs - I don't do Nukes :)
  11. Nice dream but would be very surprised - if anything it would be new F-16/F-15s
  12. dunno - It came in service around 1952 and was a very good jet fighter compared to other jets of that age.
  13. No the AI will fly that model as well - well with a few changes like more fuel.
  14. Happy Birthday!
  15. Yes have noticed it - but not sure what it does Was thinking it was there to take account of merged installs - If a Person only has SF2V they will only have the A-4C_65 - and not the A-4B_65 which comes with SF2 only I think
  16. Really nice - love the Blue Diamonds one!
  17. the right process is to look and see if there is something about that might tell you http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=44027
  18. Have you made a copy of the cat file in question?? - because i would recommend you do before dropping it onto the catpack thingy Try running it from a different folder like your desktop maybe
  19. MigBuster

    Finally Found

  20. See section 1 here 64 http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?s=&am...st&p=312185
  21. You can only run the latest patch with the correct version of Direct X 9 - assuming your system can handle the later game that is
  22. Jeez thats terrible!!
  23. tbh I thought the over optimistic MiG performance was there to give people more of a challenge so i wasnt too bothered - there are ways to beat them still - but there were some ridiculous things I observed that totally went against everything else Id seen written - so if various test pilots / projects and people who encountered them in combat tell me you had to be superman to turn the thing over a particular speed I would tend to go with that to some degree.
  24. There is a lot of conflicting reports it seems - GV has provided the flight manual (in Russian)- which is going to be fairly accurate - although doesn't mean it wasn't written before some of the other issues were found out in combat I guess! It does confirm that some MiG-17Fs had all boosted controls - but this doesnt eliminate the force and effort required to move the stick at speed - which may explain why slightly built VPAF pilots avoided such encounters. One thing that I suspected was out was the climb performance in which I can go from 2000ft clean (at 400KIAS) to 17000ft in about 24 seconds (~70degree pull up) - the F-4C/D in clean and the same test beats this be maybe 2 seconds ?? The manual and other sources confirm its max climb times as 0 to 16600ft in around 2.1 minutes (clean) see last 2 pages here http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB/viewtopic.p...91&start=88
  25. got to say - great work Dels! - any cockpits much appreciated by all
