    1. Formosa - WW2 PTO Terrain for SF2

      Formosa - WW2 PTO Terrain for SF2 8/6/2014

      - For SF2, Any & All (Full 5 Merged Reccomended)

      = For Adventures in the Far Western Pacific =

      This terrain is a rebuild of a very old 1stGen "Cold War" version. There was no readme with it, and I've not been able to find who originally created it.
      It has been converted to a WW2 terrain, representing the situation from November, 1944 through the War's End (although, in Real Life, the air campaing didn't start until January, 1945). For gaming purposes, northern Luzon is considered "secure", and USAAF units will be flying from airfields there. For the USN/BPF, there are SF2NA style "CV Stations" (hence the need for a Full-5 merged install, and the PTO mods folder built FROM the SF2NA exe) in the Eastern Pacific, and South China Sea. There is no station for Japanese Naval units as the Imperial Navy, for the most part, had ceased to exist.

      There many new GroundObject and Terrain Objects included in this terrain mod. All (if not most of) the other Ground Objects you should already have.

      The LimitedNations statement is set to TRUE, allowing only for 'regional powers'. The AllowedMission= statement is active, as there are =NO= Ground Attack routes (ie: CAs missions) The terrain also makes use of the 'AllowedDates" statement, preventing use BEFORE November, 1944. But there are plenty of truck and shipping routes, and LOTS of places for STRIKE missions.

      *Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life ™ courses, or be placed in their Real Life ™ locations, or exist at all. Several cities and other physical features may also fall into that classification. Some cities exist only as 'named places'. Where possible (and discoverable), original Japanese style city/place names are used, with the more modern Chinese as well in parenthesis. While the correct types of targets are placed within the various cities, they may not match their Real Life ™ positions due to Height Field and Tile constraints. Also, this terrain is =NOT= full scale. *

      As is ALWAYS reccomended, unzip this archive to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you -READ- the document through after unzipping, but =BEFORE= installing.

      As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading.
      Please also read the New Standard Usage Discalimer, as it's been changed slightly to reflect a change in my policy. It's listed at the bottom, in the Legal Statement Section, with the URL back to the CA post.

    2. IcelandNA (Replacement File)

      This is a full IcelandNA Terrain in Standar Resolution like the other origninal sceneries, to replace the original High resolution StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic IcelandNA, with all airbases structures and targets, as far i test it.

      For this mod i used:
      Baltika Iceland02 Full-scale Terrain v1.0
      (as base file for the replacement file)

      Third Wire Desert and Germany Original Terrains
      (as complement of Baltika Iceland02 Full-scale Terrain v1.0)

      Third Wire Strike Fighters 2 Extractor
      (To extract the necessary files)

      Canadair .Cat Pack Creator
      (To Create the File)
      I used Baltika Iceland02 Full-scale Terrain v1.0, then i extract desert and germany terrain files and use the texture files as complement for Iceland02 Full-scale Terrain and then re pack it to make a replace file insted of the high definition North Atlantic Terrain.
      is not an original file it is a remade file

    3. WW2 Palestine 2 Terrain (Full Scale) for SF2

      WW2 Palestine 2 Terrain (Full Scale) for SF2 5/1/2015

      = For SF2, Any and All (Full 5 Merged RECCOMENDED!!!) =

      **Note: This Is A WW2 Version -ONLY-!!!**

      This is a (yet again??!!) another mod of Gepard's Israel 2 terrain. Like the "modern version", it's has been 90% retiled to more match the stock IsraelME and my "Eastern Med" terrains. However, the farm and city tiles remain in their original '3W Desert' style. All other tiles have been replaced. The target areas have, for the most part, been rebuilt, enhanced and expanded.
      It is designed to be used =ONLY= in the WW2 MTO environment (read: an MTO centric mods folder). It may -NOT- be compatable with the DAT MTO All-Inclusive Mod. This has not been tested.

      The addon terrain objects have been kept to a minimum (no, not really!). Stock in-game items have been used as much as possible, although some additional structrues HAVE been added. Add-on GroundObjects, while heavily listed in the _Types.ini, have been kept to as small an amount as possible (again, not really!).
      I've included =SOME= of the Ground Objects needed but NOT all of them. Its up to the End User ™ to make sure that you have the theatre-specific (read: Allies & Axis) proper items. Of the ones included, many of these you should have from my other MTO terrains, some you may not. Some are even "new(ish)".

      Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life ™ courses, be placed in their Real Life ™ locations, or exist at all. Several cities and other physical features and target areas will also fall into that classification. Some target areas (cities, etc) exist only as named places, even if they might have had strategic or tactical values (most don't!). Just someplace to fly over. Some airfields may actually be 'post-war', but have been left for game playability. And So Forth ™. Long loading times may also be experienced due to the number of objects being loaded.

      When in game, you'll see:

      "Palestine, WW2 (Full Scale)"

      Limited Nations is set to TRUE, and only uses historical WW2 Nations (ie: no Americans). This will allow campaign builders to not only replicate the fighting against Vichy forces in the Levant & Syria, but allows a more 'what if..' situation, giving Italian and German forces a greater presence (they are listed in the Nations.ini). Like the modern version, this terrain is =NOT= carrier capable in =any= SF2 Environment; which is really sad! (see notes).

      As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended (ie: REQUIRED!!!) you read the document through after unzipping, but =before= installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining (and essential!) reading.

      It's most important that the legal disclaimer at the bottom be read AND complied with. There has been a change in policy with regards to =ALL= my terrain mods.

      Good Hunting, and Happy Landings!

    4. Texas, American South Central (1968-2018)

      Texas, American South Central (1968-2018) Terrain
      August 13th, 2018 (1st Release)
      by Menrva

      >For Strike Fighters 2, Recommended Full-5 Merged
      This is a new, scratch-made terrain inspired by the original, smaller ASW terrain made by krfrge and reworked by Wrench.
      The terrain covers to a good extent the American State of Texas, as well as some Mexican States. Major rivers and a number of lakes have been hand-tiled and mimic Real World courses. Numerous target areas, such as civilian airports and onshore and offshore oil fields, have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range.
      This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look.
      The terrain spans from October 3, 1968 to December 31, 2018; it is designed for a fictional scenario where Mexico is invaded by an alliance of Central American countries (namely Cuba, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala) supported by the Russians; the remnant of the Mexican military flees to the U.S. and fights alongside North American forces. However, users are encouraged to recreate whatever scenario they like, even outside the given time frame.
      Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible; for instance, some airfields and Mexican oil platforms will appear only after a certain year, according to historic changes. If you have SF2NA, American naval fleets can spawn in the Gulf of Mexico. All main targets have been placed accurately in their Real World locations.
      Ground Objects are not included. It's up to the user to find and obtain anything that can be useful for the proposed terrain's scenarios.

      >Credits (in no particular order):
      -krfrge, for creating the ASW terrain from which I drew inspiration; he also produced a tutorial for recreating SF2-like planning maps, which prompted me to work on templates and my own high quality planning maps. Thank you very much!
      -Wrench, for he reworked the original ASW terrain with additional targets.
      -swambast, who provided me with invaluable help in tracking and fixing common and uncommon bugs.
      -gerwin, whose TFDtool has proved to be essential in today's terrain making. If the terrain is pretty accurate to RL it's also because of him. I included his very nice Airfield 7+8 Addon Pack, too.
      -mue, for the improved shaders he made, which I have included and reworked for the terrain, and for the tools he made for SF2 modding.
      -luk1978, for the waternormal bitmap he shared at the SF2 screenshots thread. Your mods are very interesting!
      -MigBuster, I have included some of his great hi-res textures for runways.
      -Stary, for the hi-res tileset he made for the original ASW terrain.
      -Polak, for a few tiles I borrowed and reworked from his old PRDesert2 tileset.
      -Gepard, for his great tutorials about terrain making, in the SF1 Knowledge Base at CombatACE. It's a gold mine!
      -comrpnt, for his Approach and Airfield Lighting Pack mod packages for SF1 series, which I reworked and included.
      Although scratch-made, the terrain makes use of most objects and target layouts from Wrench's reworked ASW terrain; because of this, I included the ReadMe files from his original packages, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not.

      >Disclaimer:
      This is a freeware; yet it can be redistributed ONLY in other CombatACE mods/mod packages.
      Any changes to the terrain package's files and/or any copy-and-paste attempts of their contents are NOT authorized if you plan to release them in other mods. But permission might be granted to those who request it to me at CombatACE.
      This terrain may NOT in any way, shape or form be used in any payware additions.

    5. Sweden, Baltic Rim (1952-1994)

      Sweden, Baltic Rim (1952-1994) Terrain
      March 13th, 2018 (1st Release)
      by Menrva

      >For Strike Fighters 2: Europe, Recommended Full-5 Merged
      This is a complete remake of the Sweden terrain made by gillg.
      What began as a simple tiling bugfix, for JonathanRL's The Scandinavian Front mod, turned out to be a huge overhaul upon noticing a number of inaccuracies. The terrain has been retargetized and hand-tiled to a good extent; major changes have been done to the Baltic states, which were pretty inaccurate in terms of target locations. Some rivers have been added and/or retiled to mimic Real World courses. Numerous target areas, including airports and highway strips, have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range.
      This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look.
      The terrain spans from June 13, 1952 (the beginning of the Catalina Affair) to September 1, 1994 (the main withdrawal of Russian forces from the Baltic states); it is designed for The Scandinavian Front's scenarios by JonathanRL, taking place in the Cold War era.
      This terrain is a standalone version of the one which will be included in the last iteration of the TSF mod package by JonathanRL. The terrain that will be included in the TSF mod package will likely differ slightly from this one, so users are advised to keep that in mind. Also, this terrain uses only a single tileset. The TSF's version will use different tilesets according to the season, as originally designed by our fellow modder, Stary.
      Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible; for instance, some airfields won't be available after a certain date and/or will change name according to historic changes. Off Map Airbases have been added and long range AI flights can be generated from them, if you have SF2NA. Most of the main targets have been placed accurately in their Real World locations. Due to the complexity of the area, some inaccuracies are to be expected, but I did my best!
      Ground Objects are not included. Download JonathanRL's The Scandinavian Front mod package to have all that you need for this scenario.

      >Credits (in no particular order):
      -gillg, who created this terrain and whose work I have admired during my rework. I can only imagine how much time he spent on tiling roads and rivers from scratch!
      -JonathanRL, for his exceptional TSF2 mod package, which prompted me to do something to help improve it.
      -Wrench, as he is always glad to help us fellow terrain modders. Thank you, sir!
      -Stary, for the wonderful tileset he made exclusively for the original Sweden terrain included in the TSF mod package.
      -Gepard, for his great tutorials about terrain making, in the SF1 Knowledge Base at CombatACE. It's a gold mine!
      -tiopilotos and Stratos, who always support me during my terrain remakes. Thank you, guys!
      -krfrge, who has produced a tutorial for recreating SF2-like planning maps, which prompted me to work on templates and my own high quality planning maps. Thank you very much!
      -comrpnt, for his Approach and Airfield Lighting Pack mod packages for SF1 series, which I reworked and included.
      Because this terrain is a rework of gillg's fantastic creation, I included his ReadMe file from his original package, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not.

      This is a freeware; yet it can be redistributed ONLY in other CombatACE mods/mod packages.

      SF2 High Resolution Desert Plus Tileset
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      This is the Hi Res Desert tileset (1024x1024) made by JSF_Aggie modified with a more
      realistic sea color. I didn't like the stock sea tiles which JSF_Aggie used to make the tileset
      so I decided to work on it and replace them with a new sea color. New ground and water
      effects are also included.

    12. Soviet Style Airfield for the "Desert" Terrain

      New painted Soviet style airfield for SF2 Desert terrain v1.0.0
      Based on an old mod (2005) for the early Strike Fighters game.
      This pack of tiles replace the parking and runways for the Thirdwire Desert airfield3.lod (P3 terrain for exemple).
      You put the content into the "StrikeFighter2" directory: StrikeFighters2/Terrains/Desert.
      If you are not satisfied you could delete the tiles from the Desert terrain folder.
      Important ! Only used with the Desert terrain of SF2 by Thirdwire.
      PM me if needed.
      Best regards,

    13. Rio de la Plata terrain

      Rio de la Plata terrain version 1.3
      *****************************************************
      ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
      This terrain is written for SF2NA and SF2E or SF2I.
      +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
      I. Short description:
      This terrain covers the Bay of the river Rio de la Plata. South of this bay we find Argentina, north of it Urugay and Brazil. East of it is the Atlantic Ocean.
      The timeframe of the terrain is from 1980 to 2020.
      It is made as a NavalMap with carrier vs carrier operations in mind.
      The scenario is, that in 1982, the Royal Navy answered the argentinian invasion on the Falkland islands with sending a Naval Task Force toward Buenos Aires and landing troops on the shores of Argentina.
      Thatswhy you find a big british beachhead on the map.
      You can fly following missions for the British and their allies, the Brazilians:
      SWEEP,CAP,ESCORT,INTERCEPT,STRIKE,SEAD,ANTI_SHIP,RECON,CAS,Armed_Recon
      For the Argentinians you can fly this missions:
      SWEEP,CAP,ESCORT,INTERCEPT,STRIKE,SEAD,ANTI_SHIP,CAS,RECON
      New in vesion 1.2:
      - number of target area increased from 37 to 47
      - all target areas are now fitted with objects. Factories, warehouses, commbuilding etc.
      - Airbase Tandil moved 75 km westward. It is not yet at the correct position. I fear, that if the base is placed at the correct position, the AI would not use it, because it is to far in the west.
      - At the former position of Tandil Airbase i placed a temporary aifield.
      - I added the river Rio Paradana and the neigbour rivers.
      - I relocated Montevideo and the Montevideo Airport. The airport is completly new made.
      - I reworked all rivermouth tiles, enlarged them to 1024x1024 pixel size.
      New in version 1.3
      - number of targetareas increades to 82
      - a lot of new factory target areas for Argentina

      II. INSTALLATION:
      To run this terrain you need SF2NorthAtlantic and SF2 Israel or SF2 Europe.

      Unzip all files into your saved game folder ...ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2XXXX

      Thats it.

      If you have SF2Europe installed you must do nothing more.
      If you miss SF2E and have SF2Israel you must open file
      Rio_de_la_Plata_Bay.ini
      with Notepad editor and look for the lines:
      //CatFile=..\IsraelME\IsraelME.cat
      CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat
      change the entry into:
      CatFile=..\IsraelME\IsraelME.cat
      //CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat

      save the file
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      II.A: Goodies
      I have made a new mainscreen and included a new mainscreensound. Check it out and if you like it then copy the folder Menu to your SF2 mod installation
      If you own the TK's  DLC28 and SF2Israel, you can use the MirageIIIEA and MirageIIIEBR, which you also find in the goodies folder. Simply copy to your objects folder.
    14. Crash fix for Kamchatka 250m version with adjusted tileset
      This is a bug fix for the random crashing issue of the Kamchatka 250m tile set update released by Stary in below link
      Kamchatka 250m version with adjusted tileset etc - Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements - CombatACE
      If you are using the original Kamchatka 2.0 terrain released by Baltika, this is not applicable and you should avoid using it.
      Beautiful landscape tile. However it crashes randomly when flying in certain area or dropping bombs to airfields. The key issue is some incorrect file assignment in DATA.ini and how SF2 handles files in different season folders.
      It took me a long time to figure out. Hopefully this can help you as well.
      Installation:
      1. Before everything, backup your KAMCHATKA_DATA.INI in your terrains folder. In case this breaks something else you have modded.
      2. Extract the file contents and overwrite file if asked to terrains/KAMCHATKA folder
    15. Night Lights for City
      The purpose of this mod is to enable some light decoration of city in SF2, which does not provide such feature out of box.
      This mod does not add real light source due to poor graphical outcome. It works in similar fashion as the old Janes F-15E Strike Eagle by adding some always bright points to landscape.
      Please note the mod itself does not automatically add lights to maps. You will need to follow the instruction inside the zip add lights using the Mue's Target Area Editor in link below. There is some step to add to the _TYPES.ini for each terrain before you can do that. Hence please follow the instruction below carefully.
      Mue's Target Area Editor - as part of the tool box
      I have included an effect file which could be called in _types.ini in terrain folder for anyone interested in experimenting night lights with real light source. This is currently disabled due to poor visual outcome.
    16. Night Lights for Kamchatka Terrain 250m tileset update
      This mod should be used in conjunction with the "night lights for City" mod released by me.
      Quick update to the entire Kamchatka 250m map to have night lights in cities.
      Installation:
      Before you begin. Backup your files
      Extract the ini files to Kamchatka terrain folder. Note this only works for Kamchatka terrain patched with Stary's 250m tileset PLUS the crash fix update released by me.
    17. SF2 Formosa Straits Terrain Revamp (v.2) by Gepard
      SF2 Formosa Straits Terrain Revamp (v.2) by Gepard                           10/15/23
      *Full 5 Merged Installs Recommended*
      This terrain mod is designed to REPLACE any and all eariler versions. It also includes any previous updates from long past years. It is designed for use with the SF2-NA environment
      While the tiling has not been touched, (almost) all the target areas have been revamped, rebuilt or replaced. Several new regions have been added, and many of the other inis have been upgraded (See Notes for more changes). Several items (Ground Objects & Weapons) are supplied; in the Notes section is a list of other items you'll probably want to obtain. Be advised, you will experience longer than usual loading times, due to the weight of objects on the terrain. And yes, you can expect a plethora of 'hidden in the open' Easter Eggs. After all, it's my trademark!! (tm)
      As always, PLEASE read the install instructions, and the accompaning Notes and Other Nonsense for more details on other needed items. As is reccommended, unzip to an easy to find location, so you can access the readme for it's full instructions. Gepard's original readme is also included, for historical purposes.
