An Impossible Ask ...

Those of you that've been around for a while, will know my utter controlling passion for modding SF2 for WW2. If following various posts, you'll know I'm fixing up out 2 MTO maps. One of the major problems is ...

We don't have Italian WW2 aircraft necessary for a proper MTO install. Oh, yes, I know there's a few around here, a G-55, 2 CR-42s, P-108 bomber, but 'the usual suspects' are all missing, because they're not available to the General Public. You all know whereof I speak

This leads to the "Impossible Ask", as there are so few 3d modelers left, and even fewer with an interest in building aircraft and Ground Objects needed for North Africa and The Med.

What is need are:

Ba-65

Mc-200, Mc-202, Mc-205

Re-2000, Re-2001, Re-2005

any other RA bombers, transports, and so forth.

Italian Tanks (we do have the CL3/33 tankette)

As for the Luftwaffe, we need Bf-110, and variants. The 109s are pretty well covered, even if they're not the tropicalized versions. And VERY old. Ju-52s would be great to have, both to see as game generated parked aircraft (ala C-47) and to re-stage the Cape Bon Massacre. 

On the Allied side, we can do without the Baltimore (even for Vichy use), but the Blenheim in its Mk1, Mk IV, FMk1 are useful, not only for the MTO, but ETO and East Asia. I had hoped, as did Cocas when we did the Beaufighter, that they could be used as a basis for the Blen. Unfortunately .... Same can be said for the Beaufort, which is even closer.  But without AngelP's MAX files ... 

I'm sure there are other aircraft in theatre that I'm forgetting or missing.

So, there it is. The Impossible Ask.

i would say why not have the slots to plug those in like some mega mods have

but those typically are talking 3-4 aircraft. you would be looking at over 75% needing to go there to get

the question is who is willing or has the time to make at least some of this aircraft , i thougth we have a BF-110 ???  gues im wrong

maybe some of the new members who like to mod can jump in , will check if some aircraft 3d models are availble so bringing them in game go`s a little faster

for the BF-110 i found several models bud 150 bugs for it is to much for me right now

Wrench...I would build any plane for you and for all the guys here.....but time is an artificial construct that runs our lives in an unpredictable way. I hope one day we have some more possibilities for this old game....Or perhaps we should cooperate with other game modders and try to barter some assets.

wow, $150 is way too rich for my blood too. Yes, all the birds I listed above are DAT. So, they're "out of reach".

I mean, we can just use the Panzers we already have, which is fine.

Again, I just wish we could get AngelP's Max files for the Beaufort or Beaufighter; I know one of you 3d Guru could make the necessary changes. Or Cocas' P-47 max files; mabye could be modded to the Re2000 (as it has more than a passing resemblance to the P-35)

Those of us that have been modding WW2 since the early 2000s MAY still have the DAT birds archived or in their installs. But they need SOOOO much work.

But as always, we'll make due with that we have. Somehow! (at least we've got CR42 and Gladiators!)

I like File404 models, and he does have some desert 109s. If they could be used and someone can bring them into the game then I am happy to get them, though not all at once

The way I see it, more models here means more interest in the game and it lives on that bit longer. Only been coming to this site for 20 years.

I mean I could purchase a couple of models for use, not that much of a problem. I bought the single model for the Super Hornet, and was File404's model as well. FastCargo did the variants though.

A few years ago, russouk2004 had several projects for WWII, including various versions for the Me 110s. They were really beautiful. The project seemed to be nearly finished, but Unfortunately, later, he was facing health problems. I don't know what happened after that. I hope he is doing well. It would be great to see those projects released here on CombatAce.

WoW!! I'd totally forgotten that ... and Veltro's Buffalo, too! Nice to have that for the Defense of Crete (and East Asia, too)

I mean, we're still using his 109E, and it looks just as good as it did in 2005. (sigh) Time sucks.

Are there any Allied aircraft in the YAP Rising Sun hangar that could be used for the Med theatre?

Their P-38s,  (E/F/G/H/J) could be imported. Some minor reskinning and or course, re-decaling. They are FAR superior to the old Wolf257 models we've been using the last 20+ years. The B-26 could brought over, their G is close to a B (like, nearly identical), and it has noting of the shadow issues that Veltro's does.. I haven't looked at the P-51B, so can't speak of that (yet)

Funny thing is, I was looking at their F3F & F4F Wildcats -- they fold their wing the wrong way!!! They twist so the LOWER wing is pointing out, not the pointing in at the fuselage. It's very funny to watch!! The TBF, oth, works just like Real Life (tm)

We can't use their Buffalo, for redistrubution, even though it remapped differently for the 1stGen version, it's "by permission only" from DAT, according the RS readme.

How much does a model cost? I am worthless as a 3D modeler but I might be able to help with model purchasing.

Yes, I have a small build of a WWII-era game, but it is really small...If I go there...I will lose myself. I think.

But I can say...that yes, I started Allison Mustang (it is a good base for more....but mine already has airbrakes...)  - because I love Mustangs. And Kate...just because a friend sent me some unfinished files....(mostly rising sun theme) Yes I know that this might not see an end soon, but If I got distracted..I tend to do things...from different buckets. Usually after reading a book, watching a movie, or something...

between 10$ to 300$ depends. Sometimes, for our needs, we can have a simpler one. The thing is, many models still need some 3d work to meet SF2 game requirements. And some 3d modders here will go into full frenzy mode to score every possible variant...If there were many. Also, some modders here will still want to correct this and that - as many models from "shops" have some mistakes/mixed parts from a few variants.

My heart is always beating faster when you guys talk about new models....

Well, that varies between easy and impossible.

I guess we take it a model at a time. I will defer to the 3D gurus to post models that might be a good fit. If I think I can help with a purchase I will certainly raise my hand.
