F-22 Over My House

Recommended Posts

The USAF Marathon is today and they had the F-22 doing the fly by and since my house is near one of the approach ways I managed to get this.

Hey Dave, watch your head. Sometimes they have a rear panel for access to the fluid systems that tends to fall off. If one does fall on your front lawn though, it's worth $25,000.00!

The fastest thing ever to fly over my mom's working place was the Su-30MKMs (and last year they even practiced thrust vectoring, mid-air, in the middle of the city centre! That was a sight). And once did a formation of those MiG-29Ns flew not-so-high above a friend's condominium block.

I think the fastest thing over my house was an F-15C flying CAP for the final Columbia launch that had the Israeli astronaut on board.

The most important thing ever to fly over my house was Marine One.

I often get overflown by KC-10s out of McGuire AFB, and see the occasional F-16 out of AC 'intl.

I was on the on the phone with Dave one evening, when a '16 flew by my place, close enough for Dave to hear it over the phone. He ID'd it from the sound, asking "Was that an F-16?"

I'm also on the glide path to a small executive airport, so I often get to see old warbirds dropping in for fuel while enroute bewteen their homes and airshows. So far, I've seen a P-51, a brace of Texans, and a Corsair.

Now, just picture it.............. imagine one flying over El Salvador, since the most modern planes we have are A-37's..............hahahahahahahaha!!!!!

I'll be kind of :grandpa::grandpa::grandpa: when they get here (if they ever come, i'll keep the faith)

Lucky you my friend!!!

Nice Pic! The coolest thing i've seen over my house was the Thunderbirds leaving SW Florida international airport the day after the charlotte county airshow a few years ago. Second coolest was right after Hurricane Charlie, i got to see Marine One escorted by a pair of Cobras.

Other than that, I have seen the occasional AF Reserve F-16 going to SWFI,Mosquito control's DC-3s based at Buckingham Field and around airshow time a B-17 and B-24 have been known to fly out of Page Field near downtown Fort Myers.

The really sad part is we have a really rich avation history in SW Florida, but its hardly ever mentioned and our only memorial is a Prop on a small monument in a downtown park.Buckingham Field was a WWII Bomber Gunnery School,Page Field and Charlottle County Airport were WWII Fighter Training bases and A Little known fact is in the early stages of planning for the Doolittle raid on japan, a B-25 was stripped of weapons and a section of runway at Page Field was marked off to simulate a carrier deck to see if it could get airborne in such a short takeoff run.

But if you ask most people who live here very few know of anything other than the Airshow we have in Charlotte County each year.

Being at WPAFB, I get to see all sorts of stuff around here. It is just nuts. I am hoping the F-35 comes by.

Interesting, Marine One has gone over my house too, and yes I live in the UK  It was accompanied by two Black Hawks and another H-3.

Actually, I should amend that statement. The fastest thing to ever fly over my house, and it has done so several times, is an orbiter returning to KSC. They're still supersonic when they pass overhead, not dropping subsonic until they actually reach KSC.

Cool stuff, I think that went over near my house many eons ago before my time also, albeit on the back of a 747. Some sort of a round trip to over-fly a near by American memorial.

An eye to the sky can sometimes be quite rewarding.

The most interesting i had fly over was a KC-135 and behind it a B-2. That was a sight.I knew something was unusual when i saw the 4 engines of the KC-135.Around the Cincinatti /Kentucky airport u dont see many things with 4 engines at least that i notice. This was on a fridayat approx 7.pm. iIfigured they were going to that WPAFB Air Tattoo because that was going on that night.Maybe Dave so them there?
