+dtmdragon Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 (edited) I've been having a bit of fun creating a Luft '46 / SWOTL II specific WW II mod. Here are the Allied aircraft... MrGoTime Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 How did you get the bigger bomber formations? I've only ever been able to get a flight of 4...more than that and I seem to have issues with them crashing into each other. That looks super awesome. Quote
Wrench Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Them planes look awfully damn familiar!!! How did you get the bigger bomber formations Don't fly them. The game engine will always generate AI formations for the proper size. It's only when player controlled they get screwed up. Dan, don't forget the Natter bases! I don't know if I ever uploaded the modified targets ini (and types in!) with them (but have them scattered around some of the major cities) (note to self: bug fubar for the 163 with corrected FM) Quote
MrGoTime Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Ahhh lame. I was hoping to fly them in formations. The best bomber sim I've been able to find has been B-17...which was great, but looking for something a bit modern. Either way - that install looks outstanding! Quote
WalterOmar Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Looks fantastic! I´m working in something like this. Good work!!! Quote
+dtmdragon Posted April 23, 2015 Author Posted April 23, 2015 (edited) Cheers guys here is some more allied aircraft: (More to come to....I smell nazi's...) +daddyairplanes Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I thought the RAF really did use Stratoforts in '49-'55 timeframe and called them Washington B1s Quote
Wrench Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 yes, they did. there should still be one in the SF1 downloads section Quote
+dtmdragon Posted April 24, 2015 Author Posted April 24, 2015 (edited) I thought the RAF really did use Stratoforts in '49-'55 timeframe and called them Washington B1s They were post war strategic bombers until the Canberra became operational. However for Luft ’46 the one here is the USAAF B-29 supplied to the RAF under the WWII Lend-lease program. The name ‘Superfortress Mk I' comes from the WWII RAF style of aircraft naming, eg the Lend-lease P-51D Mustang was the ‘Mustang Mk IV’ in RAF service etc Edited April 24, 2015 by dtmdragon Quote
+dtmdragon Posted April 27, 2015 Author Posted April 27, 2015 (edited) Here are the Nazi’s... most were SF1 So I had to update their data.ini to SF2 standards etc. I changed the Natter rocket pod to an air-to-air one by using the data from the TW Lightning as a guide so the A.I. Natters will all engage bombers with their rockets. fallenphoenix1986 Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Ok, up until now I've had no interest in the WW2 side of the TW games... this just got my attention in a big way Craig 2 Quote
Emp_Palpatine Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 I want this so much. Perhaps as much as a remake of the good old Aces of the Pacific 1946. For those who know them, it's so Blake & Mortimer's "Secret of the Swordfish" http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-moxlCv5jb_U/VA-RSe82mBI/AAAAAAAAGxE/JYKUo68h8H0/s1600/Secret_Swordfish_1.jpg Quote
Wrench Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 The Horten wing has a "semi' proper cockpit ... meaning it has one, and it's German. and let me tell ya, it was a nightmare to get it to fit even this close...(the model has some issues, not the least of which is the lack of 'drag rudders', pylons and so forth) the screenie is zoomed back a bit, to show as much as possible the only major problem I see with a Luft '46 mod, is the reliance on so many DAT items. Those that know about that, know the restrictions and lack of availability to the general public Quote
Do335 Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Wrench that looks good enough with a retro (and IL2) vibe going on... Quote
+dtmdragon Posted April 29, 2015 Author Posted April 29, 2015 (edited) Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm (I don't think the FAA squadron codes are quite right as I couldn't find any good info on how they worked during WW II) Seafire Mk. 46 No. 808 Sqn, Fleet Air Arm Seafire Mk. 47 No. 800 Sqn, Fleet Air Arm Edited April 29, 2015 by dtmdragon Quote
