JulioJunqueira Posted May 23 Posted May 23 "Hud'n-Hud'n" For those who don't know the story. The expression means nothing. The most commonly told version to explain the origin of the term, is that it originated during the Vietnam War. Probably on the first cruise of VF-194, when a drunken VF-194 pilot said that the mopeds they used to get to their aircrafts, to they sounded like... "hud'n-hud'n". The joke became the squadron's battle cry for the remainder of the war. Some F-8s had this motto painted on the center of their wings. This was the case with Commander Billy Phillips F-8E. This F-8 was shot down by SAMs on a subsequent tour with new painting and serial number (402)NM. Unfortunately, the pilot Lt(jg) Robert Charles McMahan was unable to eject and died. https://dpaa-mil.sites.crmforce.mil/dpaaProfile?id=a0Jt000000tdLgSEAU 13

Major Lee Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago On my way back to base, a couple of pesky Mig23s were following my squadron. Most of my planes were bingo fuel and out of missiles and ammo. I was leading the way south, so I pulled up high and rolled inverted, changing my heading north, passed over the Migs, and rolled back down behind them. I closed in and popped both one at a time with the awesome centerline gun pod. I don't know, maybe they were following us back to defect; I guess we'll never know... 4
