  1. I suspect that TK is already in the loop regarding issues of this type. Have you tried the forums over at www.thirdwire.com?
  2. Agreed. I have a Intel P4 2.6 Ghz machine with 2Gb RAM and a Gforce 6800GT 256M. I run on mainly "medium" setting but I do allow myself the luxury of HIGH cockpit textures. That being said, I still think the TW series looks pretty darned good. I also play the TW sims a lot more than some other "eye candy" sims I own. Graphics are not a the top of my "must have" list. Hell, I still play and enjoy EAW, Total Air War and Red Baron.
  3. Well, then, here is a couple of pretty good shots. http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1075073/L http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1082644/L
  4. Yes, I should have clarified that I understood that the "E" was an export only aircraft. IF a "C" is in the works (which would not be hard to do if you have an "E" already) I can sure wait. Thanks, guys!
  5. Now that we have the excellent IAF RF-4E, was anyone thinking of doing some USAF skins for it? I would love to have a Nebraska ANG RF-4C for my collection. I was thinking of asking the MF if I could use their F-4G skin as a starting place. (I don't mind doing the work; just not my forte....) On the other hand if someone already has something in progress I would not want to duplicate efforts.
  6. "Wrong switch....."
  7. While the Thirdwire sims have been unjustly accused by being "arcady" WoW definitely seems to fit that definition. It is a beautiful game graphically but FE is much more of a real sim than WoW. There used to be a forum over at SimHQ.com about it but I can't find it now. The review at Gamespot sums it up very well. If you can pick it up cheap it's worth getting.
  8. I have worked in IT for over 30 years and since day one the rule has been: YOU CAN'T HAVE TOO MUCH MEMORY!!!!!!!!! Ok, well, except for Windows 98 which has issues with memory over 512M..... But with just about any other OS (mainframe, UNIX, Windows XP and beyond) more memory is goodness.
  9. You're kidding, right? http://www.fox.com/24/
  10. Well, that, too. Yank and bank, baby! Yank and bank!
  11. CH. They are a little more pricey but you can beat the living crap out of them for years and they keep going. They are easy to program if you don't want anything fancy.
  12. I have copied the CAT file and extractor to a new folder and worked from there. Not as clean as having an option to put the stuff elsewhere but it works.
  13. Booze is not really a good solution long term. Are you a back sleeper or side sleeper? It took me a looooooooong time to find out I fall asleep faster on my side than my back. I would talk to your doctor before self-medicating too much. I agree. Warm milk sounds like a cliche but it does seem to work. Good luck.
  14. HMMMM! Looks good. Soup and salad. Ate too much the last couple of weeks on the road. That's the bad part of travelling. Too much restaurant food.
  15. Absolutely agree. I am very proud to be even remotely associated with a group such as this.
  16. Not exactly lo-vis.......
  17. Yup. I have definitely moved over here from SimHQ for matters Thirdwire. One of the friendliest download sites on the net. Keep up the good work!!
  18. Fun! "Do not TOUCH switches or levers." Always good advice.
  19. Yeah, OK, but think about it. I have years of experience flying aircraft via a monitor screen. I would be a GREAT predator pilot. Good toon.
  20. How much more resource intensive is this going to be? I will still get it but I am a LONG, LONG way from updating my 2.6 Ghz - 2Gb RAM - Gforce 6800GT 256M system. I assume we will have the usual controls for graphics quality, etc. Does look very nice, though....
  21. I think it's legit... I was on a flight once where the flight attendent did a very similar routine plus he asked us all to lower our heads so the pilot could see to back out the plane..... "If you have not used a seat belt since you rode in a 1964 Ford Falcon you will need some instructions on how to use these" or something. It was a riot.
  22. Forever War would be good. I think it's in progress but "Rendevous with Rama" has been on my list for a while. "Ringworld" by Larry Niven comes to mind. It could be a bi*ch to do but Roger Zelazny's "Amber" series would be interesting to see.
  23. I am a wannabe. If I had it to do over again I would have seriously considered commercial aviation. (Eyes would keep me out of military flying.) I ended up going with IT (25+ years) and have done OK but since I was very young I have always had a passion for aircraft. I always looked up when an airplane flew over. I have gotten some stick time in C172s and had the pleasure of doing an hour in a T-6 Texan. I have also crewed for and flown in a hot air balloon. I still have aspirations of getting a private pilots license. But as they say, "If God had meant Man to fly, He would have given him more money."
