Proposed F-4E(F) Air Superiority Fighter (Luftwaffe) addon for the F-4F Pack by ravenclaw_007 and team. Based on the official McDonnell Douglas report/ sales pitch dated September 1970 detailing the specifications for the proposed F-4E(F) Air Superiority Fighter for the West German Luftwaffe: Included: - F-4E(F) Gameplay notes: - Due to its lower empty weight this aircraft is slightly faster, more maneuverable, has quicker acceleration and a lower stalling speed than a standard statted or hard wing F-4E. - It has a slightly lower (according to McDonnell's specifications,) stalling speed than the F-4F. - The radar (APG-120) is the same model as on the F-8E Crusader so has a lower performance than the radar on the F-4E/F with no AIM-7 capability. Cockpit radar display and radar range lights have been changed match the APG-120 radar. - Rear cockpit is empty with no WSO or controls etc. If you read the McDonnell report the ability to fit the cockpit controls, displays and ejection seat was to be retained if required. So the glass would not have been faired over etc. Animation / Function - Canopy - Hook - Gun Vent ______________ automatic when gun is fired or as soon as the landing gear is deployed - Brake Chute____________ works with the Air Brake below 150kts NOTE: You MUST have the F-4F pack installed for this to work: Hangar and Loading screens are in 1920 x 1080 Installation: - Drop all files into your mod folder the way they are setup in this pack and overwrite if ask to - If you are unsure about the way how mods are installed, check the knowledge base at CombatAce! Credits for F-4F Pack: - original model by TW , BPAO , Crab_02 - cockpits from TW - Testpilots , Fanatic Modder , Soulfreak , Crusader - new updated model , textures and weapons by ravenclaw_007 -

This works for me to. You can also make the mig-15.ini file read only once you have made your edits. On my campaign specific installs such as Falklands or ODS etc I make a 7zip copy of the entire aircraft and groundobjects folders. That way if the overwriting starts again I can just redo the options and version .ini files and replace the entire affected aircraft and groundobjects folders.

View File VA-34 A-4B Skyhawk Bay of Pigs During the 1961 Bay of Pigs Invasion VA-34 A-4B Skyhaks from the USS Essex flew a CAP/ escort mission with the intention of protecting the Rebal A-26 Invaders but due to a timing cock up were an hour late and missed engaging the Cuban T-33A fighters. They also flew multiple reconnaissance flights over the invasion beach throughout the incident. Due to President Kennedy insisting that there be no proof of US involvement the Skyhawks had their USN markings painted over. There are no photos of these aircraft and very few of VA-34 during that time period so I have based these skins off the only photo I can find specifically of VA-34 during the Bay of Pigs Invasion as well as one from later that year. These photos are of aircraft that did not have their markings painted over however. There is an alternative skin based on a drawing Statos posted which I think makes a way cooler looking Aircraft but is unlikely to be historically accurate. Credit goes to TW, Stratos and Nyghtfall. If you do create a Bay of Pigs USN A-4B v FAR T-33A remember the A-4B could not carry the AIM-9 at this point and Skyhawks operating over Cuba just had two wing drop tanks plus thier 20mm cannons. Change the Aircraft role from 'attack' to 'fighter' in the A-4B_data.ini file if you want better AI performance from your wingmen. Submitter dtmdragon Submitted 01/12/2019 Category A-4

Cool picture! I have done a VA-34 A-4B skin with the marking removed based on the only photo I can find of VA-34 in Cuba in 1961. If you google Bay of Pigs and VA-34 or Skyhawk etc the story about the botched Escort mission comes up in a few placed eg https://www.history.com/news/5-things-you-might-not-know-about-the-bay-of-pigs-invasion scroll down to #3. Hard to see in the screenshot but the over sprayed markings are a darker fresher grey

VSF Squadron/ VA Squadron detachment A-4B and A-4C Skyhawks. VSF Squadrons and VA Squadron detachments were assigned to small ASW carriers for air defense but with the escalation of the Vietnam war they returned to the attack role. VA-34 from the USS Essex actually flew a CAP/ escort mission during the Bay of Pigs invasion with the intention of protecting the Rebal A-26 Invaders but due to a timing cock up were an hour late and missed engaging the Cuban T-33A fighters. VA-93 painted fake black radar-domes and tail RWR receivers during one of their detachments. I modified some of Wrench's decals along with Nyghtfall's latest templates.

Exhaust smoke
dtmdragon replied to amariani's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I have removed the clean exhaust emitter from all my WWII aircraft in my WWII Europe and Pacific installs (it took a few days!) and the results for frame rates are amazing! I can now have multiple entire squadrons of fighters attacking multiple entire squadrons of bombers (think USAAF daylight bombing of Germany) without any major drop in frame rate! No lagging, stutters or game slow down at all. Previously this kind of major air battle would cause an annoying slowdown in frame rate when engaging mass bombing formations up close. Now I have no problem at all even with tracers, flack bursts, burning aircraft and contrails filling the sky. This is game changing for me! :-) -
If you have a merged install that includes SF2:NA does that mean the sound bug will still be there if you start a game from say the SF2:E shortcut? And if you did that would you still have the SF2:NA naval features? I thought installing SF2 titles worked like installing game patches so any new features are applied to everything?

Exhaust smoke
dtmdragon replied to amariani's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I have often wondered about this myself and like wrench u have always gone for the clean exhaust emitter. But from what is being said here I think I will change to no exhaust emitter now especially with the frame rate bonus. Anyone have any thoughts or pictures to the contrary? -

'In the summer of 1945, approximately 30 P-80As were sent aboard an aircraft carrier to the Philippines in preparation for the final assault on Japan. The planes were to be issued to the 414th Fighter Group, based at Florida Blanca. Unfortunately, the planes had been sent without their tip tanks and their aircraft batteries, so they sat aboard the aircraft carrier for 30 days waiting for this equipment. By the time that the batteries and wingtip tanks were delivered, the war in the Pacific had ended, so the P-80 never got a chance to enter combat in the war against Japan." http://www.joebaugher.com/usaf_fighters/p80_12.html 413th Fighter Squadron, 414 Fighter Group, Okinawa 1945/46 437th Fighter Squadron,414 Fighter Group, Okinawa 1945/46 456th Fighter Squadron,414 Fighter Group, Okinawa 1945/46 * First two are in the pearl grey paint applied to the first P-80A aircraft and wasn't used for very long as it didn't last in the field. Frame rates
dtmdragon replied to amariani's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I found a big slow down was caused by all the tracers in the air from all the gun turrets of a large bomber formation. I had a good FPS increase by re-sizing all the tracer.tga textures 3 or 4 times smaller to 30x30. Visually it doesn't make any difference. Also try reverting to stock TW tracer smoke effects if you have a modded one. Also do this as again it worked for me: https://combatace.com/forums/topic/84199-frame-rate-tweak-for-nvidia-users/ -
