It looks like Assad has decided to use Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) Mig-29 aircraft to attack rebel forces in Syria. The image in this post (published on a Facebook page that covers SyAAF news) clearly shows a Syrian Fulcrum flying over Damascus with B-8 pods for 80 mm unguided rockets. The photograph is particularly interesting because it not only witnesses the appearance of the SyAAF Fulcrum in the air war against the Free Syrian Army (FSA), but it also marks its use as an air-to-surface platform to deliver unguided weapons. In other words, after being kept away from the war, the Mig-29 is currently being used against ground targets with “dumb” weapons that require it to fly at lower altitudes, most probably well within the MANPADS range. Is Assad running short of all its other warplanes? http://theaviationist.com/2013/10/22/mig-29-damascus/

Strike Fighters Attack
MigBuster replied to MigBuster's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Yes that's currently not available - no idea why - still have it on my phone. Attack has an interesting supply of aircraft - but yeah doesn't seem as good as SF - might get into it though............. -
An altitude, speed and range to target might be good enough for this - as long as you have a lot of bombs to ripple. This would require finding that ideal through trial and error - only good for flat ground. Also not too sure how far the wind carries the bombs in this (if at all) In WW2 they got round this problem by sending about 500 bombers to a target

200 years ago this day: Armageddon in Europe

Few pics on the news http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-24599921 Some 6,000 history buffs in period military costume are re-enacting one of Germany's bloodiest battles, the Battle of the Nations. French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte was defeated near Leipzig in October 1813 by forces from Russia, Austria, Prussia and Sweden. Tens of thousands of spectators are attending the reconstruction, described as a "reconciliation". However, Church leaders object to the battle being turned into a game. They see Sunday's event as tantamount to glorifying the carnage of war, the BBC's Damien McGuinness reports. -

The P-51s a great challenge - the switchology is very easy because there really isn't much - but flying it is really difficult - and not just engine management - just turning the thing without spin or yaw - if this is an accurate representation it certainly gives you more of an appreciation what pilots had to put up with. The training missions in the campaign where you fly through gates are great laugh - and also a big upside is I can recreate all those fancy moves from the dogfights series. -
I cant imagine any UFO being able to defeat the new AIM-54 copy they claim to build Among the hardware on display during the annual military parade in Tehran, on Sunday Sept. 22, 2013, Iran not only displayed a new indigenous passive phased array radar system for detecting stealth targets and cruise missiles, but it also showed the country’s latest home-made missile productions, including the Fakour-90. The Fakour-90 missile is one of the latest “state-of-the-art productions” of the Iranian Armed Forces which can be mounted on F-14 fighter jets. It’s almost identical to the AIM-54 Phoenix and, more than a brand new missile, is just a domestically upgraded, partially reverse engineered version of the famous long range missile carried by the U.S. Navy Tomcat. The AIM-54 was developed in the mid-sixties and the IRIAF has operated some of them. Even if we can’t talk of a “new missile”, we can’t but notice that the Iranians managed to keep them in service and, maybe, upgrade them a little bit. What’s even more surprising is that Tehran managed to keep the F-14s airworthy, considered the sanctions on Iran and the consequent lack of spare parts for the Tomcats. The different component is hidden inside the missile’s nose cone and is (probably) a semi-active homing system of the Shalamcheh surface-to-air missile – once again a reverse engineered, improved version of the U.S. MIM-23 Hawk SAM. http://theaviationist.com/2013/09/26/farouk-missile/

You installed the patch and get lower FPS - then suspect the patch has changed something - but then again the patch is for a stock game only so not comeback if it is that. You can lower graphics setting sin game, or try different graphics card settings - but you would need to experiment to see what works - different for every system basically You could try different graphics card drivers WOV and SF2V has generally always had that problem over NV Drive clean up defrag (if not SSD) Make sure AV / FW are in Game mode if applicable Stop background programs not needed etc etc

Lets put the start button back Microsoft has released the Windows 8.1 update for its flagship operating system. The download seeks to address some of the criticisms levelled at the original version of Windows 8. In particular, the update restores the start button and allows a computer to boot up with a traditional desktop interface. The launch comes at a critical time for Microsoft as it seeks a new boss, with PC sales experiencing a long decline. Windows 8 sought to bridge the gap between touchscreen devices, such as tablets and smartphones, and more traditional form laptops and desktop machines. As such it had an interface built of tiles that could be tapped or swiped to open applications. However, many people found the tiled interface did not work well for some of the things they were used to doing with a computer. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24564738

Especially for you guys................ The BBC has revealed how it plans to mark the centenary of World War I. Programming and events will span four years, across television, radio and online, from 2014-2018, echoing the time frame of the war itself. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-24552194

MigBuster replied to Barkhorn1x's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
You only need to create other folders if you want to add mods like new terrain tiles, ground objects etc And you create them in the mod folders NOT where you have installed the game to http://combatace.com/topic/62302-what-is-the-mod-folder/ As for the AIM-54A Advise using TWS mode to lock it (See online instructions on F-14 radar use) - then ensure you are actually in range and not going by some fantasy kinetic range figure quoted on Wiki - range depends on altitude, speed and target aspect - so example if the bombers are head on the further out you will be able to fire. -
Yes I've been past there a few times myself An England WC victory these days consists of making it past the group stage..............
