Is it possible
MigBuster replied to TX3RN0BILL's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Pretty sure you can just Extract nations.ini for a start and check it out -
Yeah you can copy an individual (3rd Party) planes folder and paste that into any game and it will run. The game you add it to may need the effects, weapons adding that the planes uses. also in WOV you may need to alter the games date for later jets because by defualt it only goes to 1973. Transfering stock jets - you would at least need to extract all of its game files from object.cat before you transfered it. Do the weapons in the pack show up in the loadout screen? Radar guided A-A need a radar lock Laser guided need a designator - some may need a ground target lock with E Leave the HUD on normal unless you have a very high res monitor and a track IR IMO Most of the cockpits have an altimeter - normally one of the larger dials - but you can check by seeing which ones move when you climb or dive. Will be 1000s of feet but marked in single digits normally ie 1,2,3,4,5, etc Some jets may give you one dial for Altitude (above sea level) and one dial for "Radar Altitude" (above ground level)

Thought it had the PIRATE IRST for that - and since when can a passive IR seeker give enough information for a BVR shot - thought you needed a laser range finder or something - and a very clear day. -
Dont rely on the radar woman - she will only see things picked up by other fighters and your jets radar. I wouldnt expect a radar of that era to be good enough to distinguish every jet anyway - especially a picket ship like red crown that cant see through mountains. AWACs radio functionality is not modelled by default - and the Migs are good at sneaking up on you! I think the detect range of each plane can actually be increased meaning more are picked up - though you would need to search some threads to see how that was done.

Yes - If you put a campaign in, it will replace or add a lot of files. Put another campaign on top of that and again will replace/add files and screw up the first campaign (and other things). Assuming you only have 1 install: 1. make a copy (dont cut/move it) of your entire current game folder (ie a backup of the entire game) 2. then uninstall your game from add/remove progs 3. Install the game again 4. Put the patches on 5. Make a copy of the entire game folder for the new campaign 6. Dont touch the original install again (use it to make new copies) You should now have 3 installs example c:\.....\Wings Over Vietnam c:\.....\Wings Over Vietnam_Campaign c:\.....\Wings Over Vietnam_Backup You can still play your original game that you backed up - by running it from the exe file in its folder hope that makes sense - it looks difficult - although if you dont try it you wont learn much Another reason to use a copy of the game is that if you screw it up you can just make a new copy ond remove the old one without having to install everything from disk each time!. Well im sure there will be something there soon - problem is - how you intall one is dependent on the campaign! Adding a campaign - well the readme should tell you what to do. Be careful - I saw a campaign last week (original Burning Sands 1983) that had a load of files (dlls) from the version of the game when the mod was created - so copying them over to a game patched to SP4 would mean the game crashed. Basically you needed certain parts of the original - and then all of the parts from the BS1983 update for SP4 (nightmare!)

Ahh we dont need stealth - just buy a stealth plane and make sure its not stealthy - sounds good. Cant wait till we stick in a more powerful engine that reduces the top end to M0.8 -

Early next year! that may be too late - and I suspect the new FAV SU-30s still have the upper hand anyway. -
Linux
MigBuster replied to Rover's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Havnt tried it - though its not supported - you could see if there are any emulation programs that run on linux out there that can. -
IMO keep your games separate if you can + if you install a campaign you should be putting it into a separate/new install again. (see the knowledge base) theres user made campaigns/ missions here http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...&showcat=29 Theres Vietnam 1984 for WOV which may be of interest http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=5289 but there are others.

Well I would buy more F-22s - that plane is the USAs main fighting edge. Its alright saying get loads of F-35s but a lot of countries around the world will have that soon. They need a new marketing slogan - how about the "Super Raptor"

Frequent crashes cast doubt on Russian made Kazakh AF jets
MigBuster replied to BUFF's topic in Military and General Aviation
Planes get old and start crashing - everyone seems to be in the same boat dont they. How frequent Russian planes really crashing is something we probably wont find out - but a lot are going down everywhere it seems regardless! Perhaps someone will design an uncrashable rubber plane. :beta1: -
