  1. No in a campaign they will follow you back to base if they are in one piece - in the formation you have specified - and then automatically call the tower without you doing anything. If they get damaged on missions they will go to the designated alternate airfield if they can by themselves. Ive never seen a plane just fly around forever - there will be loads of planes up during a campaign - all with specified missions - all have to take off and land though. Enemy jets work like the allied jets - they Taxi to the runway then take off - I havnt seen this happen much because I tend not to hang around too much in their airspace. You can sometimes see them using 6 if you are close to the base lined up or waiting to take off. They wont take off if the runway is bombed
  2. Im not saying his <50% kill rate for the AMRAAM variants is inacurate - but where did he get that the FA-18E/F will only be carrying 6 of them? He then goes into saying that both the F-18EF and F35!!! will be hard pressed to beat a Flanker BVR? He doesnt quite say how the Flanker is going to detect an F-35 head on funnily enough in this engagement! Also goes onto list the F-35 - which will be the most advanced jet on the planet in a few years time as an inferior type! Is this another - we only want the F-22 and everything else is crap type of docs that I keep seeing?
  3. It sure is - US missiles certainly have a lot more exposed real world usage to draw conclusions upon. The performance of Soviet missiles exported to client states was reportedly very poor - but then again were these versions just exported crap, were the pilots not trained, what was the environment they were flying in etc Here is a recent poor R-27 performance write up on the 1998 - 2000 war (Eritrea Vs Ethiopia) http://www.acig.org/artman/publish/article_189.shtml again can't vouch for the validness of the info but it was an interesting read. Will add that the Germans had some Archers to go with their Mig 29s after the end of the Cold War - and they were evaluated as being amazing. The ASRAAM program was started up to "catch up" with the archer R-73 according to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIM-132_ASRAAM
  4. Yes and today we have graphics that look a million times better than back then and an operating system thats 97% stable if looked after - something we didnt have 10 years ago even. I cant ever imagine a game that would be as moddable as these sims back even then - Installing a program properly on Win95 was touch and go and often led to building the whole flippin PC. Also most games - yes they were playable out of the box - but any bugs in them / or the plane was the wrong colour etc (or wrong amount of rivets :) ) you were as good as stuck with it in most cases. There are some bugs we are still stuck with - but most of it can be changed relatively at least - and you will never please everyone anyway
  5. Assume this is meant for this forum?? When you fly back to base your wingmen will tell the tower they are "inbound for landing" and get in the pattern for landing with all the other jets in the pattern. The enemy planes all do the same - ive never seen any just fly around in a circle
  6. The SU-32, FA-18F and EA-18G defo have no skins - you will see this in 2010. Trouble is you would have to create a template - do the skins - then inject them using the lod editor with their CT codes unless they can create something to work with the skinpack installer. A lot of work for planes that are mainly scenery really. Must admit it does annoy me slightly when I see them though!
  7. Its possible that the patches do look for some kind of flag that original versions get when they are patched but only LP would know that. So you have tried both the incremental and full patches and neither work ? Your version is Version 1.11 (Patch 10) which would be 2007? Does it give any idea as to what file is missing? What does direct2drive say about it - did they just patch up an original and create an image or was it supplied by LP? Will assume your version of Windows XP and PC are in top state and you are an Admin on there? You could also try asking Frugals where most of the Falcon techheads live to see if they know what the problem is.
  8. What games that on? Is that the Third Wire F-104G or one you downloaded ? The model or skin for the tanks it is trying to use could be missing at a guess
  9. Digital version??? not familiar with that try downloading the latest patch from Lead Pursuits web site and run it from your desktop Version 1.0.13 - make sure its the full version (~60MB)
  10. MigBuster

    FF5

FF5 (RedViper) Is an add on for Falcon 4.0 but will probably work with Allied Force - not sure how well though FF4 is not payware so wouldnt expect FF5 to be either - but then its not exactly legal - as in the group behind it doesnt have the license to change or develop the code.
  11. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7323379.stm
  12. Any with a long enough runway ive found and close to North vietnam so you have less airmiles to fly Are you looking for bases the F-4 was actually stationed at? :scout:
  13. Its fine for me - type the address into the address bar for starters
  14. The only way I know to enable some BVR is by increasing the detect distance for each jet (should be some old threads on this). I havnt tried it myself so not sure if they will be firing AA-2s from 30 miles away .
  15. Oh dear - afaik the only race that call us Roast beefs are the French - the language above portrays a half common / half upperclass mix that ive never heard myself - its probably the way we are stereotyped in a another country.
  16. Some screenies in this thread of the upcoming FF5 http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=26797 judge for yourself really
  17. Yeah was always a problem - flying at 1000ft to save your wingman - or 100ft to save yourself Absolutely no idea about that - havnt tested it myself but are the AI in WOI better at terrain masking?
  18. depends whos flying it really
  19. http://forums.frugalsworld.com/vbb/showthr...ht=f-14+cockpit I personally dont recommend RV over AF - but thats just MO
  20. Oops - yep too much assumed info - assumed they must have got the Migs in 84/85 - but looks as though it may have been around 1988. Also didnt see there was a newer 3D model now so looked at the old one that has a 1984 start date
  21. Cockpits and cockpit builders are rare - but there are a few duel pits out there. A-6 (Stock/Razbam) F-111 (free) A-26 (Yap) Helicopters (Yap) C-47 (YAP) HC-130 (YAP) The effort required for a free and accurate TU-22 / TU-16 pit would probably have to come from someone with a big interest in those Soviet jets.
  22. wow - not sure - Environmentsystem.ini at a guess
  23. Nice one Were the last F-4s retired in 2004?
  24. Depends what nation its set for - look in its Mig29G_data.ini file. If its East Germany then I assume it will use Warsaw Pact / Soviet weps and be an enemy jet though you can change its nation, or whether the nation is friendly or an enemy if you like - via nations.ini You would then need to change its weapons pylons in its data.ini file to accept nato weps
  25. If its a matter of survival I suspect the superiors would prefer the expensive jet and the very expensive pilot to come back in 1 piece - than worry about a few racks and bombs. Have read accounts of F-15s dropping their tanks in the 1991 gulf war before they engaged some Iraqi jets BVR with AIM-7 Sparrows.
