  3. Frequently Asked Questions: The DCS: F-4 Phantom by Heatblur Simulations Q: When will the DCS: F-4 Phantom by Heatblur Simulations release? A: DCS: F-4E has been in development for some time and will be released later in 2022. Stay tuned for our full unveiling closer to launch day! Q: What variants will the Heatblur F-4 Phantom include? A: The first release will be DCS: F-4E, the iconic land based variant of the Phantom. We will be launching two variants of the -E; a “classic era” F-4E (blocks 36-45 with updates retrofitted in 1974 and before, including new slats, DSCG and AGM-65) as well as an upgraded (DMAS) version of the aircraft in one package. Q: Will there be a Navy F-4? A: Yes! Our Phantom journey only begins with the -E. However, owing to the complexity of the work and investment of time and effort, it will not be included in the DCS: F-4E product. We’re instead choosing to focus on providing the most content rich F-4E we possibly can, and then set our sights on further telling the legendary story of the F-4. Q: Will the Heatblur F-4 Phantom released as Early Access? A: The F-4E will be released as Early Access first. Much like the F-14 Tomcat, we plan on releasing it as feature complete as we can, including Singleplayer and Multicrew capability, a WSO-AI, an elaborate Flight Model, functioning cockpits and instruments, the main set of air to ground and air to air weapons such as sidewinders, sparrrows, mavericks, laser guided bombs, dumb bombs, a gun and of course a fully functional radar, avionics suite and F-4 specific systems that will help you dominate the battlefields of its time. As usual it will come chock-full of content, including training missions, Singleplayer missions, Multiplayer scenarios and of course, more than one campaign. Q: Will it come with Multicrew capability and a WSO AI? A: From day one you will be able to enjoy the F-4 with full multicrew functionality and with the JESTER-AI, tailored to the needs and capabilities of the F-4 Phantom. Q: Why won’t all variants be part of one module? A: The investment of time and effort to do the Navy and Marine Corps versions of the F-4 justice makes it unrealistic for us to include everything in one package. We want to make sure to tell the story of each Phantom variant chosen in the most content rich and appropriate way possible, while making sure that we stay a thriving and viable team. We’ll share more details on our plans with regards to variant additions to the F-4 later, but we remain steadfastly committed to ensuring that we are fair to our beloved community and supporters. Q: Why does the announcement come so early? A: We initially wanted to keep things a secret until we were just about ready to release, but the volume of interest and questions about the F-4 made that quite impossible! Hopefully you enjoyed the announcement trailer, even if short- stay tuned for our full unveiling closer to release day. We’re excited about you all being a part of the Phantom journey Q: When will you share more? A: As the development of the module continues, we will try to be as transparent as possible and include you as much as we can, sharing the different stages of the development as well as exploring this phabulous aircraft together with you all. Q: What about the Eurofighter, the A-6E, F-14 and Viggen? Are you biting off too much? A: The Heatblur team has never grown nor been more capable than it is today. The trust you put in us is absolutely sacred, and the announcement of the F-4 has no bearing on the steadfast commitment to continued progress on existing and other future modules. The F-4 has been under active development since early 2021, and our roadmap, including the Eurofighter and other future modules was created in this context. With an ever expanding portfolio, it is important for us to ensure that we will not let up on maintaining our high standards for all of our modules, released or yet to be released. Per astra ad aspera, upwards and onwards, with our partners at Eagle Dynamics we plan to continue on pushing boundaries as long as we stand and could not be more excited about both present and future. https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/291784-frequently-asked-questions-the-dcs-f-4-phantom-by-heatblur-simulations/

View File [Fictional] McDonnell Douglas F-4S 'COAN' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 McDonnell Douglas F-4S 'COAN' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 This is a simple mod of the F-4S by 'The Mirage Factory' to give a fictional Phantom F-4S 'COAN' as it might have appeared in service with the Comando de Aviación Naval Argentina during the 1980-2010 timeline. Also included are three fictional Argentine aircraft carriers; the ARA Bernardino Rivadavia (V-3), the ARA Hippolyte Bouchard (V-4) and the ARA Guillermo Brown (V-5). INSTRUCTIONS 1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-4S_COAN folder into your Aircraft folder. 2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-4S_COAN folder into your Decals folder. 3. From the GROUND OBJECTS folder drag and drop all three folders into your Ground Objects folder.* 4. From the PILOTS folder drag and drop the PILOT_COAN into your Pilots folder. 5. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop both folders into your Weapons folder. * You'll really need to add 'ArgentineNavy' to the limited nations section of the ICELANDNA_NATIONS data.ini (which you'll need to extract). Doing this yourself will allow you to align the Argentine Navy to a 'colour' of your choice. CREDITS As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim. Special thanks to 'The Mirage Factory' for permission to modify the F-4S and also to Sundowner for the F-4S templates which really helped in adapting the Third Wire F-4J skins to fit. Thanks to Ravenclaw007 for the AM39 Exocet missile - as soon as I saw the textures I knew who to thank! Thanks also to the creator of the AR_BRP_250-Kappa_E bomb. It's been in my install for ages but I honestly don't know who to thank. And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community. Regards Spinners Version 1 - May 22nd, 2021. (copy/paste, mod folder structure etc.) Pack contains skins and decals representing all F-4D users amid Air National Guard units. Skins are made for stock F-4D_78. F-4D was used between 1977 -1990 in ANG and these skins are fitting in 13 years of service. Mostly all serial numbers are correct for specific dates and units. If you will find some errors please feel free to send correction notes. No ini files for this as this is only skin sets. Just simply add skin folders to your favorite F-4D_78. Or create a new, specific one for ANG use. You will find that some aircraft wear kill marks as in real life. If you want to have your own kill marks you have to modify decal.ini file. To fully enjoy this skin set you need to have ThirdWire F-4D_78. All skins are done in 2048x2048 based on Sundowners and Ravenclaw's work. Brand new Bump files in 2048x2048. All decals made by me. Enjoy. Regards. Jarek Hereda Submitter yakarov79 Submitted 05/16/2020 Category F-4

Previous 'urgent operational requirement' program adds targeting pod (Litening), GPS navigation, GBU-12 and JDAM capability for OEF deployment. Background (all factual): In mid 1964 Operational Requirement No. 5/Air called for a tactical combat aircraft to replace the Canberra. Specifically a long range aircraft with the primary role of counter-air/interdiction and secondary roles of close air support and air defense. In June 1965 The Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice-Marshal (AVM) Morrison was quoted as wanting 18 F-111 aircraft for the RNZAF at a cost of £1.5 million per aircraft. The public and media supported the idea but the Chief of Defense Staff (who was a Naval Officer) and the acting Prime Minister publicly opposed the purchase. In August 1965 the Chiefs of Staff Committee rejected the idea of acquiring long-range interdiction aircraft and in September agreed that close air support should be the primary role of the new combat aircraft. In December came Air Staff Requirement No. 12 with the following requirements of the new combat aircraft: - Ability to provide effective air support to ground forces. - Highly reliable and robust - Self defense capability to evade or counter supersonic interceptors and surface-to-air missiles. - Long range. - Ability to operate closely with American and Australian forces. By May 1966 the RNZAF had finished evaluating six candidate aircraft: - F-4C Phantom II - A-7A Corsair II - Mirage IIIO - F-5A Freedom Fighter - F-104G Starfighter - A-4E Skyhawk In August 1966 the RNZAF officially asked the government to purchase 16 F-4 Phantoms at a total cost of £19 million. Now remember AVM Morrison making it known he wanted the F-111? He would later go on to admit he never wanted the F-111 he had wanted the F-4 all along but given the cost of the F-4 he wanted to make it look more attractive (cost wise) by putting it next to the F-111. The minister of Defense then announced the final stage of the evaluation had been reached and a decision was a few weeks away. The purchase of the F-4 seemed to be all but done... BUT the Treasury department now intervened and recommended purchasing the F-5! The RNZAF High Command was furious! But ultimately powerless to halt the path to purchasing the A-4 Skyhwak that had just begun. Over the next year the RNZAF, Cabinet Defense Committee, Treasury, the Finance Minister and the Chief of Defense wrangled over purchasing the F-4 or an alternative (F-5 or A-4). Then at the end of 1967 the New Zealand Currency was devalued and a squadron of F-4 Phantoms was now instantly out of New Zealand’s price range. It was either 11 Phantoms or 16 Skyhawks. So the Skyhawk it was. So if the Treasury Department hadn't intervened in the procurement process towards the end of 1966 it seems entirely likely that New Zealand would have placed and order for the F-4 Phantom II at the end of that year. Or once the NZ dollar devalued in 1967 the option of an initial 11 F-4E order followed by another 5 in 5 years was considered, which I have gone for here.

Cockpit radar display and radar range lights have been changed match the APG-120 radar. - Rear cockpit is empty with no WSO or controls etc. If you read the McDonnell report the ability to fit the cockpit controls, displays and ejection seat was to be retained if required. TMF F4K model and textures. There are some glitches, the 370ltr wing drop tanks are missing textures as are all the wing hardpoints and the fuselage centreline hardpoint. When I jettisoned the tanks the starboard hardpoint went with the tank as it should do with a Sergeant Fletcher tank but the port one did not as can be seen in the iverted shot. Any ideas anyone while I investigate further? XT597 was the last UK Phantom to fly being withdrawn from service in 1994 two years after the RAF retired theirs. Using two different bespoke design radomes XT597 was used on various trials support tasks noteably in flight airspeed calibration of other aircraft. XT597 is now in the hands of Everett Aero awaiting sale.

For the F-4E Phantom II - ARN (86). Mobius Squadron, part of the 118th Tactical Fighter Wing, was a fighter squadron comprised of pilots from the Independent State Allied Force's Air Force. The squadron saw active service during the 2003–2005 Second Usean Continental War. Its ace pilot, Mobius 1, rose to prominence and became the flight leader of the squadron around the start of ISAF's counteroffensive in late 2004. Around the time of ISAF's evacuation from the Usean mainland, Mobius 1 was the sole member of Mobius Squadron; whether this was by design or the result of losing squadmates during the Erusians' initial offensive remains unknown. Beginning with the ISAF's Operation Umbrella in September 2004, Mobius 1 quickly established himself as an ace, downing six Erusian Tu-95 Bear bombers and their escort fighters over Newfield Island. Over the course of the war, Mobius 1's accomplishments would inspire confidence in his allies and fear in his enemies. The full Mobius Squadron—under Mobius 1's command—was later formed by merging several other ISAF squadrons. On September 26, 2005, one week after the official armistice, ISAF dispatched the newly assembled Mobius Squadron to the Twinkle Islands to destroy Megalith, an Erusian superweapon capable of shooting down orbiting asteroid fragments. Mobius Squadron engaged and shot down the Erusians’ Megalith defence squadron before moving on to the rocket-launch facility. Through the combined efforts of Mobius Squadron and the special forces unit, ISAF was victorious once again, and Megalith was destroyed. Which addon(s) are required? File Name: SF2_F-4E_Austere_HUD File Submitter: Crusader File Submitted: 22 July 2017 File Category: Avionics F-4E_75_AHUD (Austere HUD) mod The real Austere HUD modification has been tested on F-4E 68-0304 during 1974-76. The goal was to have a better sight display, primarily for air to air combat. Further modifications were made to the radar for a quicker boresight lock-on and new dogfight scan modes. The Austere HUD modification remained a F-4E test and didnt went into production aircraft or upgrades. Ive re-created the Austere HUD, using the TW F-4E_75 (required for the mod to work). Ive used the Wraparound desert skin for stock F-4E by amariani http://combatace.com/files/file/12057-wraparound-desert-skin-for-stock-f-4e/ for a quick "make it fly" setup (we dont have a proper Edwards Test Unit white with red trimmings skin) The real Austere HUD was a test setup, so its no problem to add/remove readouts to the HUD modes to ones personal liking.
