    1. Another Sweden Terrain!!!!

It does venture further South into what is now Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. If you increase the boundary, you can get the North of Poland as well and maybe a little bit of Norway.

I would like to do better planning maps and more road bases for Sweden. But I realise that it has taken me this long to get this far and
life is not slowing down so I release it to the masses to scrutinize. That and JonathanRL would like to stuff around with it. So this ones for you Jono!!
      Good luck.

      Installation:
Unzip the "Sweden" to a temp folder, or your desktop or somewhere easy to find.
Then copy/paste, move the Sweden terrain folder into your Terrains folder in whichever game install you're installing it to!.
Go to the Sweden.in file and change the cat to the appropriate cat file.
      Go fly!

PS. I made a few tiles for target specific areas, nothing to flash but I didn't put this info in the readme.

    2. Just added some decals and touched-up the .bmps some to give the plane a more complete look.
See the readme. Skin is the original lo-vis grey; attached pic is edited, but I liked it.

    3. Anatolia v2 (09/25/2011) for SF2 Series by PureBlue (Umut Destan)
      ------------------------------------------------------------------

      v2 Ramblings
      -----------------------

      New features:
      - The tileset is now based on Stary's GermanyCE reworked tileset v1.1.
      - New planning map contributed by Spectre8750
      - New target areas (Mostly around the border, for future campaign plans)
      - New airfields (Stefanovikio AB, Ercan and Paphos in Cyprus)
      - A few airfields with new designs
      - Most naval groundobjects now include properly defined "destroyed models."
      - New SAM vehicles included (Crotale Standin, Avenger, L60 Bofors...)
      - More work in Cyprus. Some roads, barracks, harbours.. (Still work in progress)

I suggest creating an Exclusive Install for this terrain.
The pack already includes historically accurate groundobjects, and many of the aircraft used
in the region are already available as mods and more are on the way..

Hopefully the next step for the project will be a pack that includes everything; campaings/objects/aircraft/terrain.

      Have fun!

      v1 Ramblings
      -----------------------

This project has been in development for 3 years and is the fruit of long hours of
research, design and implementation work. I've met great people along the way and
they made many contributions to the project. I thank every one of them but my special
appreciations go to, Steve "Swambast" who worked countless hours with me and developed
      STT (Swambast's Target Translator) which let me lay the foundation of this project;
      and Stary, a great artist from Poland who is behind all the beautiful looks of the terrain;
Dave and the CombatAce team for providing us the platform to meet and have fun.

The project includes a large map covering Anatolia (Turkiye), Greece, Aegean, Black Sea, and eastern Med.
The download also includes many ground and terrain objects, contributed by the talented modders in our
community. It's essential to install all these components to get the complete experience.

      Enjoy!

      INFO & INSTALLATION
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This project is designed for 2nd Gen SF2 series.
Succesfully tested in SF2:Europe and above. (A merged EXP2 install is recommended but not a requirement.)

There are 2 ways/methods to install this Mod.
#1 An exclusive install just for this Mod.
#2 Installing on top of the mod folder you already are using. (meaning, merging with your own install)

*** The preferred method of install is the (1) exclusive install. Since there are many groundobjects,
ships and air defense systems placed in handpicked locations, it's better to only use the objects that
come with this projects' files. The included ones are the makes/models that Turkish and Greek sides have
in their inventory. (As best as I could research and find appropriate mods for)

      INSTALL METHOD #1
      1. Rename a set of your "game.exe and game.ini" files to "Anatolia.exe and Anatolia.INI"
      (eg. StrikeFighters2 Europe.exe and StrikeFighters2 Europe.INI)
Run the newly renamed Anatolia.exe once, so you have a new Mod Folder.
Check this link if you don't know what a ModFolder is. http://combatace.com/topic/62302-what-is-the-mod-folder/

      2. Now go into your new ModFolder and delete the "Objects\GroundObject" folder.

      3. Time to copy the project files. Copy the included "Terrains" and "Objects" folders to your ModFolder.
With this project, a terrain folder, groundobjects and their respective guns/weapons are included.

      INSTALL METHOD #2
With this method, you only copy the included "Terrains" and "Objects" folders to your ModFolder.

      IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS
      1. Everytime you load up the game. Run a quick single mission and quit without flying.
All the successive SingleMission/Campaign games will work as designed and expected.
(Why do this? Because the project includes many ground objects, seldomly the game engine has problems loading
everything, so the first mission you load up will have many objects/ships missing from the map.
The game does some kind of caching so after that first mission, everything will show!)

      2. If you don't have a powerfull computer, lower your settings to avoid crashes.
If your game crashes or locks up at %100 LOAD, try running your first mission with Settings:
-Enemy Air Activiy: LIGHT, Enemy Air Defense: LIGHT

      3. The Terrain has LimitedNations set the TRUE. So you'll only get aircraft with only Turkish and Greek markings.

      4. A specific Anatolia_EnvironmentSystem.INI is included and you can edit it to your liking.
Take note that in the Environment file the clouds are set to a specific MinBaseAltitude to overcome the cloud bug.

      5. All included Guns/Weapons/Sounds are for the necessary ground objects. Nothing extra is included here.
Without the GroundObjects and their respective files, the map will not look as designed.
(For example, naval traffic in the Aegean, historical sam sites and navy/army bases)

      6. Most naval traffic in the Aegean Sea is classified as NEUTRAL. You can attack them but you can't order your
wingman to do so. If you want, edit & classify the target areas as "Alignment=ENEMY" in the Anatolia_TARGETS.INI

    4. Four F-100Ds of the 416th TFS, call sign Robin, were tasked with RESCAP on April 4, 1965.
The flight had just started orbiting when they crossed paths with two MiG-17s almost head-on.
During the resulting dogfight, one of the MiGs was fired upon repeatedly by Robin 02.
Capt Donald Kilgus could see hits on the tail, but lost sight of the MiG in the clouds.
The gun camera had failed and no one was able to see what happened to the MiG.
So, the USAF only awarded a probable kill.
After the war, the VPAF admitted to losing three MiG-17s in air-to-air combat that day.
This was the first and last time F-100s tangled with MiGs in Vietnam.
Most likely, this was the first United States air-to-air victory of the Vietnam War.

Robin flight was on RESCAP and had just started orbiting .

      /*****Design*******************************************************************/

After extensive testing, this mission uses the following design decisions:

Written for a stock SF2V install, no mods required.

The stock environment does not permit multiple levels and types of clouds/haze.
So the only the haze and cirrus layer are modeled.

The lead F-100D and second pair are on a SWEEP over the Thanh Hoa area.
The player is tasked as an ESCORT for the lead.
The initial aircraft positions reflect WSEG Report 116 Event III-2.
The F-100s are in an orbit at the Objective over water, south of Than Hoa.
The mission starts when the lead MiG is first detected by the F-100s.
The player and the other pair of F-100s are modeled as a separate flights with the same callsign.
This permits historical positioning of the aircraft and differing missions.
The player is flying as Capt Don Kilgus, Robin 02 (Rambler 01 of the 2nd Rambler flight in the game).

The MiG-17s have been broken up into two flights.
This permits historical starting positions and target objectives.

Outcomes are typically close to historical results, but depend greatly on how the player flies.
The MiGs tend to run away when being tailed.
However, if not pursued, they will get a good firing position and score kills.

      /*****Playing Tips*************************************************************/

The mission begins with the enemy nearly head-on at 12:30 o'clock and closing fast.
The first thing the player should do is jettison all ordnance and break into the threat.
The F-100D has less power and is less maneuverable than the MiG-17.
Do everything you can to keep your speed as high as possible.

Do the following to make this mission challenging and realistic:

ONLY USE THE NORMAL IN-COCKPIT VIEWS: <F1>, <F2>, and <F3>
Do not use map <M>, target <T>, padlock <F4>, or any view target <F8> keys.
Doing so provides the player with exceptional situational awareness.
The player unrealistically always knows everyone's location.
This extra knowledge allows a skilled player to possibly kill both MiG-17s.

Be proficient with the POV hat, look up <NUM 5> key, and zoom view controls.
Due to the way the game renders distant targets, spotting MiGs is very hard.
MiGs that are not very close cannot be seen at all when zoomed out.
Learn to zoom in and scan the horizon for small moving dots.
This will be frustrating and the spotting distances may seem unrealistic.
The end results are exceptionally realistic.
The player may frequently get lost or disoriented.
Like real pilots, level out and/or use check turns to find your way back.
It will take skill and luck to spot MiGs.
It requires even more skill and luck to get one or more kills.
Of course, TrackIR makes this whole process much easier and realistic.

Play the mission several times following these restrictions.
Once used to it, the player will learn two skills critical to real pilots:
      1) Visual scanning discipline to focus and pick out distant contacts.
      2) Situational awareness to mentally track planes not within view.

      Good luck!

    6. HotFix for North Cape Terrain

Due to a senior moment, I forgot to create and add the _water.bmp the SF2 mission builder needs.

Here it is, with the necessary pointer line added to the main ini (NorthCape.ini)

Also, is a modified ini for the Pit1 object, that will remove the offending tractorbeam shadows that I just discovered!

All I did was to seperate it all into the three service versions, as
per the sources of the book "Lansen" by Sven Stridsberg.

      Versions included in this package:

      Swedish Air Force:
      A-32A Lansen (F17 Blekinge)
      J-32B Lansen (F1 Västmanlands Flygflottilj)
      S-32C Lansen (F11 Södermanlands Flygflottilj)

      A-32A:
Attack version, fitted with bombs for ground targets and the Robot 04 for Ships. The basis for "CIC Club", the first strike that would annihilate Soviet Ships on the Baltic. Carrying a Thirdwire substitute for Bofors AKAN 20mm Guns. Standard Military Green skin.

      J-32B:
All Weather Figther, however most used as a Night Figther and thus, this is as well.
Its set to Night Only, so be mindful of this if you use it with the Campaign Editor.
Carrying 4x 30mm Aden guns. Silver Skin.

      S-32C:
Recon Version, carrying photoflash bombs. Added mostly for novelty value. Aside from that,
you are left to your own speed and devices to evade the enemy. Experimental Low-Alt Skin.

      Enjoy!

    8. North Cape terrain (Beta+) by Baltika for SF2

A slight revamp of the 1stGen Beta terrain, with all new tga tiles for the sea and sea/land transition tiles (aka: "Working Water"). Consider this perhaps as a kinda sorta Ver. 0.8

As with the original release, the targeting is not finished, but at least now the water will work. The data ini has been brought up to the latest standards (as of Aug 2011). I did do some cleanup on the targets ini, but nothing major.

I figured with all the Swedish aircraft now available, this would be a fun sandbox (ok, snowbox) for them to play in. Eventually, I'm sure somebody will get around to finishing it!

As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions.

      Have fun!
