      Skinpack for Veltro2k's C-5 Galaxy

This mod brings about several historical skins for the C-5A Galaxy by Veltro2K. This mod adds several Euro 1 schemes, historical
serial numbers for both A and B model Galaxies as well as representation of most every airlift unit that operated the C-5.

Installation: unzip and install into your mods folder. Allow overwriting if needed. This mod can run in any and all versions of SF2.

Included: reworked MAC White over Grey skin (original by Gebrueder)
4 European 1 schemes, two for the C-5A, one for the C-5B and one featuring both
2 Overall grey schemes, featuring units from the 90s and mid 2000s
reworked data.ini changing in game designation to C-5 Galaxy and adjusting the loadout in the cargo bay
vehicle cargo to load into the cargo bay

KNOWN ISSUE: the refueling markings on top are shown via tga. that tga projects a weird grey line on the left side of the fuselage only. there is not a fix
at this time. how ever it is most noticeable on the white over grey and even then only at very close range. it is less noticeable on the camoflaged schemes. this will be fixed when possible, my apologies for any inconvienence. I felt that how it appears at normal viewing range vs time to fix, it was ready to release.

*Note: There is a distinct probability that this mod will =NOT= work in SF/Wo*
1stGen game installs at any patch level. End Users ™ that attempt it, do so at
their own risk. A Full 5 Merged install is reccomened at the LATEST patch level.*

This is an add on pack for use with the KAW Sabres Pak availalbe at the following
      URL:
      http://combatace.com/files/file/13604-sf2-korean-war-era-f-86-sabre-pak/

This pack is for Fighter-bomber units in the 1953-ish time frame, and represent
units that transitioned to the Sabre from other aircraft (Mustangs and Shooting
      Stars).

Skins/decal sets are for the following units...

      67th FBS, 18th FBW (in it's mid-1953 markings)

      35th FBS
      36th FBS
      80th FBS, 8th FBG (Wing?)

All skins are in jpg format, and Decal Randomization is TRUE. Almost all markings
are decals, excepting Squadron/Group/Wing markings on the tails and/or nose.
      These are painted on.
The serial/buzz numbers are 75-80% historically accurate. In each skin's Number.lst, those marked with a
star (*) are 100% matched to their unit. Those marked with a cross (ok, the plus
sign, +) served with that Group/Wing, but could not be matched to a particular
squadron. Those with no mark, are 'generic' F-86F-30 serials

As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included.
      So, please read them.

    10. SF2 A-4F VA-164 'Ghost Riders' 1973

A-4F Skyhawk, VA-164 'Ghost Riders' Vietnam 1973 Skinpack

      *** SF2V required for A-4F-model, tested in full 5-merged installation ***

The skin represents A-4Fs from VA-164 'Ghost Riders' in 1973 aboard the carrier USS Hancock in Vietnam.
All BuNo are correct for this squadron, but unfortunately I couldn't find the correct assignment for all modex to BuNo.

This pack contains another version of "Lady Jessie", this time the wellknown version with big letters on the fuselage. In 1973 VA-164 was on another combat-cruise in Vietnam. Carrier Air Wing CVW-21, which VA-164 was part of, was tasked with the responsibility, to develop expertise in unique mission types. For example VA-55 was tasked with Iron Hand missions, while VA-164 was to develop tactics to use Laser Guided Weapons at its best. Some A-4F were equipped with Laser Spot Trackers instead of the ususal Radar in the nose, so that LGBs could be used on designated targets. As these were only trackers, a special Designator was needed. For that case, 2 TA-4F were borrowed from USMC squadrons. A 2nd crewmember with a handheld-device to designate the targets was placed on the 2nd seat. Those people were volunteers from other squadrons, that usually flew E-1B or RF-8/F-8. As the handheld-device had to be held steady for a proper designation while the plane was flying, it was a not well-like job to do. But in the end, it proved successful and led to the development of build-in laserdesignators.

The pack consists of 2 parts:

      - a skin for the stock A-4F, which cannot use laser-guided bombs (LGB). So this is only for the looks. Select the skin in the loadout-screen of the stock A-4F.

      - a modification of the stock A-4F to use LGB. Ingame you will find a new plane - "A-4F (Laser Spot Tracker)" to choose. It also has a different gunsight and shows laser designated targets. For the laser-designator you have 2 options. First is to use the plane as is, meaning, you only can use LGBs on primary targets as they're always designated. The radarscreen is just black in that case, because the planes didnt have a radar anymore. Second, you use the Laser designator from the loadout screen and can use LGBs on every target. I included a modified AVQ-23 (modded from the stock one) for that purpose. It is not shown externally and is a compromise for playability-reasons. The radar-screen shows the target if you have selected one.

Planes marked with * are the LST-equipped ones (401, 407, 411, 413, 414), which have the different nosecone. 401 and 407 are confirmed by pictures, the other 3 are in for a good mix. There were more than 2 of them, but I couldn't find more numbers or other pictures.

      Installation
      ============
      1. unzip to a temporary folder
      2. open "Put_In_Your_Mod folder" and do as you were told, if asked to overwrite, say 'yes' :P
      3. enjoy!

A new, revamped version of the skin found in Paulopanz' C-47 Pak. This has a new replacment natual metal skin for the:

21st Troop Carrier Squadron, aka "The Kyushu Gypsies"

as seen during the Korean Conflict.
All markings (exepting the tail band) are decals; decal randomization is TRUE. Serial numbers are 100% historically accurate for this unit. Please note, 2 or 3 of these aircraft were "on loan" to the USAF from several UN Allied forces (Greece, iirc). They are also accurate, but carry the American insignias.

    12. RF-101C 18TRS OP Sun Run

      RF-101C 18TRS OP Sun Run

This is a new skin for one of the finest 3rd part models for the SF2 series, ie the RF-101C Voodoo from the Voodoo Mega Pack V2.0 by ErikGen, available here at CA:

      http://combatace.com/files/file/12117-f-101-mega-pack-version-20/

It represents the six planes of 18TRS that took part at the Operation Sun Run in 1957, including the spare cells No. 5 & 6. Operation “Sun Run” was the attempt of a transcontinental speed record from LA to NY, which the Voodoos achieved with a time of 3:05,39 for the single trip and of 6:42,06 for the round trip.

Stunning how this record was beaten only 33 years later in 1990, by an SR-71A which took just 64min for the trip from LA to NY...

There are not very much pictures out there, even less reliable paintings, the best information I could gather are the following: a nice article from Jan van Waarde, which is the best story about Sun Run you can find far and wide, a picture by McDonnell of Sun Run No3 before delivery, the “propaganda” video praising the record and finally... some Hasegawa blue prints:

      http://de.scribd.com/doc/195090334/Sun-Run-Jan-Van-Waarde-2010

      http://www.boeing.com/history/mdc/graphics/hist033b.htm

I used the original metal skin of the 45TRS by Dave (or at least I think... ) coming with the Mega Pack, I cleaned it up to make it naked and basic, and finally added every marking and insigna with the technique of decals. This was surely a bit time-consuming and a kind of compromise, but was to me the only way to display those 6 very different looking planes using just one folder...

The specular dds maps are also based on those from the original Mega Pack. The USAF star badge and the TAC patch are original TW work, everything else was drawn from scratch by me. Tested with Strike Fighters 2 Exp2.

      Install extracting to:

      X:\your mod folder\Strike Fighters2...\Objects\

I really hope you are going to love this little piece of aviation history.

    13. RA-5C Skinpack

This package contains improved skins of the RA-5C Vigilante.

      - Thinner and less visible panel lines, different weathering than the original skins.
      - New squadrons with tail art and new decal tail numbering for each new squadron
      - Now you can match this bird with more USN tailcodes in the game

      Squadrons:

RVAH-5 "Savage Sons" tailcode NE (was already present in the original)
      RVAH-6 "Fleurs" tailcode AJ
      RVAH-6 "Fleurs" tailcode NG
      RVAH-6 "Fleurs" tailcode NH
RVAH-7 "Peacemakers of the Fleet" tailcode AE
      RVAH-11 "Checkertails" tailcode AA
      RVAH-12 "Speartips" tailcode AC
      RVAH-13 "Bats" tailcode NH

The tail artwork is painted on, so no decalling. Unfortunately when decalling over the fold section of the tail, the upper part of the decal disappears. But I drew the art in 2048x2048, that way it still looks ok in the game.

      Installation:

First install aircraft. You can find it here:
      http://combatace.com/files/file/9579-ra-5c-vigalante-sf2-v11

Then download this pack and from it, paste the "Objects" folder in your SF2 mod folder and overwrite.
(The original RVAH5 folder won't be overwritten as I renamed my version RVAH5_NE)

    14. S-3B skins improved

These are improved skins for the S-3B Viking.
The improvements are especially thinner panel lines (I really hate those big ass blurs around the lines :-)) and I also added some rivets. I changed some decals as well.
I corrected a few lines here and there based on actual walkaround pics (the pylons and engines for instance)

I didn't redo all the the skins, but most of them. To make sure nothing gets lost I added all of the decals for each squadron.

      The included skins are for:

      VS-21, VS-22, VS-24, VS-27, VS-30, VS-32, VS-33 and VS-38.

I found the VS-22 and VS-24 in the Black Sea Expansion pack and no credits to be found there for these.
So if the real slim shady would stand up, then I can include him.

I also included the template I made based on the original skins, in case anyone would want to use it for missing squadrons.

      Get the original aircraft here:

    15. SF2_TUAF_F4_BLACKHAWK

Turkish Air Force was one of the prominent F-4 users with approximately 233 aircraft. The original order for F-4’s was 40 aircraft with the first being delivered in August 1974. In 1981 F-4E 66-0312 was delivered to the THK and with reorganization of Filo’s (squadrons) and its aircraft this F-4 became the property of 172nd Filo “Sahin”. In early 1990’s 172nd Filo was one of 3 squadrons assigned to the 2nd Tactical Air Force, 7 Ana Jet Us (Jet Air Base), Erhac-Malataya. With this reorganization the 172nd Filo became an interception squadron. In April 2009 172nd Filo was disbanded in anticipation of the arrival of the new F-35 Lightning II. To mark the occasion F-4E 66-0312 was given this special paint scheme “Kara Sahin” (Black Falcon - Black Hawk).

    17. SF2 A-4E(67) VA-192 'Golden Dragons' 1967

      A-4E (67) Skyhawk, VA-192 'Golden Dragons' Vietnam 1967 Skinpack by Nyghtfall v1.1
      =============================================================================

      *** SF2V required for A-4E_67-model, tested in full 5-merged installation ***

The skin represents A-4Es from VA-192 'Golden Dragons' between October 1966 and May 1967 aboard the carrier USS Ticonderoga in Vietnam.
All BuNo are correct for this squadron including Modex.

Some highlights on this skinpack are:
      - new Baseskin with highter resolution (2048x2048)
      - new Decals for nearly everything :)
      - special Decals for the CAG bird (Number x00)
      - updated data.ini is included, which contains the working canopy (SHIFT+0) and landing light (thanks to Wrench).

      Known Issues
      ============
      - not all A-4Es had the Avionics Hump. I'm not sure, but I would think squadrons had a mix of A-4Es with and without hump and as my mainsource had one, it was the way to go.
      - the color-sequence of the cag-bird is open for discussion, you can find 2 versions (tailcolors upside down on the 2nd), i chose the more common

      Installation
      ============
      1. unzip to a temporary folder
      2. copy 'Objects'-folder from the zip to your mods 'Objects'-folder, if asked to overwrite, say 'yes'.
      3. enjoy!

      Credits
      =======
      - Thirdwire and TK for a great game, nice models, skins and some decals I used as pattern
      - ZScout370, wikimedia - USAF Insignia
      - Wrench, updated data.ini

      Thanks

    18. SF2 A-4E(65) VA-93 'Blue Blazers' 1967

      A-4E (65) Skyhawk, VA-93 'Blue Blazers' Vietnam 1967 Skinpack by Nyghtfall v1.1
      ===============================================================================

      *** SF2V required for A-4E_65-model, tested in full 5-merged installation ***

The skin represents A-4Es from VA-93 'Blue Blazers' in the first half of 1967 aboard the carrier USS Hancock in Vietnam.
BuNo are correct for this squadron, but unfortunately I couldn't find the correct assignment for all modex to BuNo.
The following ones are correct and confirmed by pictures or shotdownlists:
      300 (152022), 301 (151049), 302 (151106), 303 (151070), 306 (151038), 310 (151082), 311 (151076), 313 (151105)
All others are filled with BuNo that are correct for the timeframe and squadron, but miss an assignment to a specific modex.
If someone has more information, please contact me for an update.
One rare fact is, that some planes of VA-93 still wore the A-4C marking pattern (Insignia on front, 4-digit BuNo on tail, Navy on airbrakes)
which was changed with the transition from A-4C to A-4E. According to my sources 301, 303 and 313 are confirmed for the old scheme.
      I added 308 and 312 for a good mix.

Some highlights on this skinpack are:
      - new Baseskin with highter resolution (2048x2048)
      - new Decals for nearly everything :)
      - 2 Marking styles (Markings like A-4E for 300-315 except for 301,303,308,312 and 313, which wear the A-4C-scheme)
      - special Decals for the CAG bird (Number x00)
      - updated data.ini is included, which contains the working canopy (SHIFT+0) and landing light (thanks to Wrench).

BuNo and Modex should be correct for this squadron, but I couln't find a complete listing from one source, so I had to combine all available sources.

BuNo are correct for this squadron, but unfortunately I couldn't find the correct assignment for all modex to BuNo.
Modex-numbers 305, 307 and 314 are filled with BuNo, that are correct for this squadron, but miss a modex-number.

      - new Baseskin with highter resolution (2048x2048)
      - new Decals
      - gray rudder for 301, 305, 306 and 311

The skin represents A-4Cs from VA-153 'Blue Tail Flies' in 1966 aboard the carrier USS Constellation in Vietnam.
BuNo and Modex should be correct for this squadron, with 302 and 307 filled with Numbers that are correct for the squadron, but miss the modex.
According to my sources, modexnumbers 300, 308 and 309 are not used, so in this pack you'll find 301-307 and 311-316.

Some highlights on this skinpack are:
      - new Baseskin
      - new Decals for nearly everything :)
      - optional 'Griffin'-Decal as used on planes aboard USS Coral Sea (just change to commented parts at the end of decals.ini, to have it visible)

    22. SF2 A-4E(65) VA-164 'Ghost Riders' 1967

The skin represents A-4Es from VA-164 'Ghost Riders' between June 1967 and January 1968 aboard the carrier USS Oriskany in Vietnam.
All BuNo are correct for this squadron, but unfortunately I couldn't find the correct assignment for all modex to BuNo.

The plane number 406 (152048) is an early version of the well-known "Lady Jessie", named after Jessie Beck, an owner of a casino in Reno, Nevada by Richard Perry. As a young man, he worked in the casino, they befrieded and he later became her pseudo-adopted son, until he was commissioned in 1957. Part of the training took place at Fallon near Reno and she always took good care of him and his comrades with baskets of goodies. Even after R. Perry was assigned to VA-164, she took care of him and the entire squadron by sending care packages. At some point R. Perry painted "Lady Jessie" on one of the squadrons birds as hommage to Jessie Beck. In October 1967 R. Perry was shot down while on a raid over Haiphong, but Lady Jessie continued her care for the squadron and after that date it was common use to apply "Lady Jessie" on the 401 plane until the decommisioning of VA-164.

      The interesting story well-written:

    24. F3H-2 Demon skins

This is an improved skin pack for the F3H-2 Demon. It does not contain the plane.
You need to download it first from the SF1 download section.

What's new? The lines and rivets are redrawn in 2048x2048, as well as most of the squadron specific art and markings.
I also modified the opacity a bit of the decals to make them more blend with the skins.

      Installation:

      1. If you haven't done so, first download and install the F3H-2 Demon add-on aircraft.
      Get it here: http://combatace.com/files/file/5215-f3h-demon

      2. Paste the skin folders from this pack in your Aircraft folder
      Objects/Aircraft/F3H-2

      3. Paste the decals into the Decals folder: Objects/Decals/F3H-2

PS: I also included the templates I made with all the artwork, weathering, etc.
In case anyone would like to create more skins.
In the Demon03 file you need to change the position of the Star and change the light colour to get the Demon04.

    25. Canadair Sabre Mk.6 AMI NM Skinpak

Canadair Sabre Mk.6 AMI NM Skinpak 9/21/2014

      = For SF2 (Any & All, Full-5 Merged Prefered) =

This package is designed for use on the Sabre 6 Pak available at the following URL:

      http://combatace.com/files/file/13497-sf2-canadair-sabre-mk6-rcaf-and-ami/

You'll need to have the above listed aircraft to add this skin pak to.

This package contains 2 new skins, in Natural Metal ™, representing the following units as first delivered to the AMI:

      2 Aerobrigata (8 Gruppo)

      4 Aerobrigata (Cavallino Rampante)

Included are updated texture set inis for the 2 AMI Euro camo skins, adding the "Start Default Date" SF2 switch, that will (hopefully!) turn on the camo skins in 1959 (best guess date). They have also had the "displayed name" changed, so you'll see, for example, either

      2 AeB (NM)
      or
      2 Aeb (Camo)

      Making it easier to select.

As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them ....

      Happy Landings!
