    After the skirmish for Cyprus the tension never really cools down.
    In September 1979 the full war broke out and every side fight for the strategic aims.

    PLEASE BE AWARE: This release of Attila 1979 is unpolished and is to be considered a Beta version. In short, there will be bugs and not all of them have been found.

  2. Campaign EAF No.26 Sqn Ramadan War(MiG-21F-13)
    For Wings over Israel.
    This campaign with 34 missions for the EAF No.26 Sqn cover the periode from Oct 7, 1973 to Oct 24, 1973.
    Historical accurate with the main units and bases deployment by and after October 7, 1973. Revised ground forces and add tank Su-100, BTR-50PK infantry transport, FROG-7, Scud-B(three launched on Oct 22, 1973)and three type of Bofors AAA.
    EAF No.26 "Black Ravens" Squadron

    No.26 Squadron was established in the autumn 1967.
    The Squadron was the first, following the Israelian example, to set aerial ambushes with two MiGs acting as baith and two or four others as shooters.
    First sucess coming in Oct 23, 1968 in the area Ismailiya-Suez Canal with two Mirages downed, one finded in May 1975 by the Egyptian Navy with the death pilot still in the cockpit.
    As usual, IDF/AF denied this losses.
    Based at Inchas AB during the War of Attrition, No.26 Squadron was the unit with the highest number of combat engagements in 1969-1970 and earned the reputation as the "best dogfighters" in the entire air arm.
    Pilots of the squadron introduce the practice of applying kill markings on their MiGs, and by 1973, at least two of the MiGs carried the unit insignia, a black raven with a white "26".
    The "Top Gun" of the unit was Reda el-Iraqi with three kills in the War of Attrition(all Mirages). The No.26 Squadron downed also IDF/AF ace Capt Giora Romm(5 victories)and became POW.
    By the Ramadan War, despite the availability of new variants like MiG-21MF or MiG-1PFM, the No.26 Squadron remained with the old MiG-21F-13. The aircraft was lighter and thus more manoeuvrable in comparison with recent variants. The single 30mm cannon with 60 rounds packed a more powerful punch than the 23mm GSh-23 installed in the MiG-21MF. Also, the F-13 was a dedicated interceptor and not a dual role like the MiG-21MF.
    No.25 Squadron follow the example of No.26 Squadron and give his MiG-21PFS to come back with the MiG-21F-13. Both Squadrons, forming the Air Brigade 102, had 30 MiG-21F-13 by the Ramadan War.
    The UARAF/EAF had taked in charge 90 MiG-21F-13(48 of the first batch delivered from Nov 1961 to 1963, 12 ex QJJ in Jun 1967 and 30 purchased with Aero-Vodochody in Czechoslovakia delivered in 1969). Last F-13s arriving by Dec 4, 1969. All this 30 jets were assigned to the Air Brigade 102.
    The SyAAF received during the Ramadan War, 11 MiG-21F-13 from Czechoslovaquia and 12 from Poland. The DDR deliver in the same periode 12 MiG-21M.

    1. What's Inside:

    This is intended to be an overall enhancement to the SF2 Vietnam (SF2V) experience without having to hunt for, download, and install some of the "must have" mods for the game. We've also made some great changes and additions to the terrain and campaigns to give users a wider variety of missions types to fly. At the same time we've also made changes to help the user control where they fly.

    Here's a brief summary of what's new and changed:

    -Terrain is split into North and South vietnam, with unique target areas for each.
    -Terrain include dozens of new targets and target areas, using numerous new terrain items.
    -Three stock SF2V campaigns overhauled and expanded with new units, aircraft, and textures.
    -Two new campaigns that are centered around fighting in South Vietnam

    For a more complete accounting of the changes and additions in this version of the "Air and Ground Expansion Pack" see the "Version 2.1 Change Log" below.

    Note: this "updated" version of the Expansion Pack is a roll-up package that includes all the updates and fixes previously available in separately released updates (the "Terrain Tiles Update," the "January 2010 Update," and the "February 2010 Update").

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    2. Installation:

    A. PRELIMINARY NOTES

    We strongly recommend installing this expansion pack to an unmodded SF2V Mod Folder. Installing to a Mod Folder that contains other mods (e.g., new aircraft, weapons, ground objects, etc.) could result in a partially or completely broken installation.

    The SF2V Air & Ground Expansion Pack can be installed to a standalone install of SF2V or a "merged" install that includes the original SF2 and/or one of the other SF2 titles, SF2 Europe (SF2E) and SF2 Israel (SF2I). Depending on what other SF2 games your "merged" install includes and what patch level you are running, you may have an additional installation step.

    - Dec2009 & later installs: If you are installing the Expansion Pack to an SF2V installation that has been patched to the Dec2009 level (which includes the "Combo Pack") or later (e.g., the Feb2010 level), then you will have an extra intallation step (see below).

    - SF2I installs: If you are installing the expansion pack to a "merged" install that includes SF2 Israel (SF2I) but is NOT patched to Dec2009 level or later, then you will have an extra intallation step (see below). At minimum you will need to be at the Nov 2009 Update patch for SF2I available from ThirdWire.

    All ThirdWire patches and updates should be applied BEFORE installing the Expansion Pack.

    B. THE MAIN INSTALLATION

    To install this expansion pack properly:

    a) Ensure that "Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam" is already installed and patched to the latest level.

    b) If you have a prior installation of SF2V, rename your existing SF2V Mod Folder.

    Note: for more guidance on managing "Strike Fighters 2" installations and your Mod
    Folder, see this discussion at CombatAce:

    http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=40588&st=0&p=289170&&do=findComment&comment=289170

    c) Run the game once. The game will generate a fresh Mod Folder with default contents.

    d) Unpack all four .7z files (SF2V_AG-XP_v2_Part1.7z, SF2V_AG-XP_v2_Part2.7z, SF2V_AG-XP_v2_Part3.7z, SF2V_AG-XP_v2_Part4.7z) to a safe location on your drive.

    e) Simply drop the contents of the "To_Mod_Folder" into your Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam Mod Folder (NOT the folder that the game installs to). By default your Mod Folder should be located here:

    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Vietnam\
    Windows Vista: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Vietnam\
    Windows 7: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Vietnam\

    If you have defined a custom Mod Folder, then drop the contents of "To_Mod_Folder" in that location.

    f) Download the FOTI A-6A from here:

    Copy the "cockpit" folder from the .RAR file and drop it into the following sub-directories of the \Aircraft directory in your SF2Vietnam Mod Folder (objects/aircraft):

    A-6A
    A-6B
    EA-6A
    EA-6B
    EB-66C
    KA-6D
    RB-66C

    If you are running SF2V are any patch level earlier than Dec2009 and your "merged" install does NOT include SF2I, then your installation process is finished.

    If you are running at the Dec2009 patch level (which includes the "Combo Pack") or later (e.g., the Feb2010 level), or your "merged" install DOES include SF2I, then you have one last step.

    g) SF2I & Dec2009 or later patch level users: this is your additional installation step.

    - If you are running the Dec2009 patch level (including the "Combo Pack") or later (e.g., the Feb2010 level), then open the \For_Dec2009_Patch directory. Drag and drop all the files and folders from within the \To_Mod_Folder to your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted.

    - If your "merged" install includes SF2I but is NOT patched to the Dec2009 patch level or later, then open the \For_SF2I directory. Drag and drop all the files and folders from within the \To_Mod_Folder to your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted.

    That's it. You should be good to go.

    C. OPTIONAL INSTALLATIONS

    Optionally, install the items included in the \Optional directory (see the "Optional Installs" section below for more information).

    You may also install the extra items and other bonus mods included in the \Extras folder. Please see the ReadMes included in those directories for more information.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    3. Optional Installs

    Depending on what Series 2 games you have installed and whether you performed a "merged" install (creating a single Mod Folder for all your Series 2 games), you may need the items included in the \Optional directory.

    A. M60A1 tank

    If your SF2V Mod Folder has an \M60A1 directory in \GroundObject, then copy the M60A1_DATA.INI to that directory. If your Mod Folder doesn't have an \M60A1 directory in \GroundObject, then skip this item.

    B. A-4Bs

    Not all SF2 games ship with the A-4B and A-4B_65 Skyhawk. (Standalone SF2V installs, for example, will not have either A-4B version.) If you are applying the Expansion Pack to a "merged install" that does include the A-4Bs, you will want to also apply the customized A-4B files from the \Optional directory.

    First, verify that your SF2V install includes A-4Bs by checking the \Objects\Aircraft directory in your SF2V Mod Folder. If it does include A-4Bs, then copy the two folders from within the \Optional\A-4Bs directory to your the \Objects\Aircraft directory in your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted.

    C. Alternate MiG-17A

    If you have installed the Expansion Pack to a stand-alone installation of SF2V -- either because you don't have the other SF2 titles or elected not to perform a "merged" install -- then you will need to install the alternate MiG-17A included in the \Optional directory. To install it, simply drag and drop the \MiG-17 folder to the \Objects\Aircraft directory in your SF2V Mod Folder.

    D. ThirdWire MiG-17PF

    If you have "Strike Fighters 2: Europe" (SF2E) or "Strike Fighters 2: Israel" (SF2I) installed and you performed a "merged" install (meaning that all your SF2 games share a single Mod Folder), then you may use the ThirdWire MiG-17PF instead of the third-party MiG-17PF that ships with the expansion pack. If you have SF2E and wish to use the ThirdWire model, then do the following:

    - Remove the existing \MiG-17PF folder from your \Aircraft directory.

    - Copy the entire \MiG-17PF folder from \Optional to your Aircraft directory.

    At this point the game should start using the ThirdWire model.

    Hint: you always can tell what version of the MiG-17PF is currently installed by checking the name of the aircraft. The version shipped with the original Expansion Pack Beta will be identified as the "MiG-17PF Fresco-E." The ThirdWire model is identified as the "MiG-17PF Fresco-D."

    E. Dec2009 Cockpits

    In the Dec2009 patch for SF2 ThirdWire changed the way that cockpit poitions are calculated. This change affected the A-6A/B as well as the F-5B. In later patches (starting with the Feb2010 patch) ThirdWire reverted to the old method for determining cockpit positions.

    If you are running at the Dec2009 patch level (but NOT the Feb2010 or later level), then you should copy the three folders from the \Optional\Dec2009_Cockpits directory to the \Optional\Aircraft in your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted.

    F. Alternate Exhaust Emitters

    On some systems the custom exhaust emitters used on for the B-52s, F-4s, and the F-104C may cause slowdowns. If you experience severe frame rate drops whenever these aircraft are visible, you might consider switching to versions of the aircraft that use the standard DirtyExhaustEmitter.

    To install aircraft versions that use the DirtyExhaustEmitter in lieu of custom exhaust emitters, simply copy the folders from the \DirtyExhaust folder (excluding \_CustomExhaust) to the \Objects\Aircraft directory of your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted.

    A copy of the original DATA.INIs with the custom exhaust effects is included in the \_CustomExhaust sub-directory, in case you wish to revert back to the originals.

    G. Mobile SAM Launchers

    If you wish to increase the SAM threat in North Vietnam, you can use mobile SAM launchers to boost the number of active SAMs. To install the mobile SAM launchers, simply copy all folders from the \Mobile_SAMs folder to the \Objects\GroundObject directory of your SF2V Mod Folder.

    Note any mobile SAMs that exist in \Objects\GroundObject will show up in CAS missions in the "Easter Offensive" Campaign.

    H. Alternate Flak

    One of our main goals for this expansion pack was to make North Vietnamese air defenses more varied and deadly. We think we've succeeded. If you make it a habit to fly straight and level over Pack 6, you will be walking home.

    Included in the \Optional\Flak directory are three sets of files that you can use to change the effectiveness of the flak guns (37mm, 40mm, 57mm, 85mm, 100mm, & 130mm):

    1_Insane: only those with a masochistic streak should use this flak. Expect to see
    entire flights blown from the sky. Any campaigns you start are almost
    guaranteed to be very brief and extremely violent.

    2_Deadly: significantly deadlier than the default "Normal" flak (see below). Take
    care to plot flight paths around flak-infested areas and get out of the
    target area as quickly as possible. Despite your efforts, chances are high
    that at least one of your wingmen will not make it home.

    3_Normal: the least effective and the default installed with the Expansion Pack.
    Flak guns are still many times deadlier than in the stock ThirdWire game.
    Best practices are not to fly straight and level through flak-infested
    areas and not linger over targets.

    We recommend sticking with the default "Normal" flak, though you're welcome to test your nerve with the deadlier flak varieties. To change to a different flak level, simply copy the five sub-folders from flak directory you'd like to use to the \Objects\Guns directory of your SF2V Mod Dir, overwriting as prompted.

    I. Alternate Flak Effects

    On some lower-end systems the custom flak effects used in this expansion pack may cause severe slowdowns, esp. in large strikes with lots of flak guns opening up on multiple flights of aircraft. If you see large drop in frame rate performance during intense flak bursts, then you may want to use the alternate flak effects available in the \Flak_Effects directory.

    To install, simply drag and drop the four .INI files from the \LOW sub-directory of \Flak_Effects to the \Effects directory in your SF2V Mod Dir, overwriting as prompted. If you wish to restore the original flak effects, copy over the .INI files from the \HIGH sub-drectory to the \Effects directory in your SF2V Mod Dir.

    Note that using the alternate flak effects does NOT reduce the effectiveness of flak guns.

    J. Smoke-Marking Infantry Squads

    By default most friendly infantry squads (but not individual soldiers) will have their positions marked by red smoke. (The smoke-marking is performed by ENEMY squads -- a key point to remember.) There are several ways to customize this effect:

    1) If you would prefer not to have friendly squads's positions marked with red smoke, then you can turn that effect off. Copy the \NVA_Squad & \VC_Squad folders from \Optional\PopSmoke\Non-Smokers to the Objects\GroundObject directory in your SF2V Mod Folder, over-writing as prompted.

    2) If you would prefer to change the color of the smoke used to mark friendly squads, then drill down to the \Objects\GroundObject directory in your SF2V Mod Folder. You need to edit the VC_Squad_DATA.INI and NVA_Squad_DATA.INI. At the bottom of each file you will find the data for GunBarrel5:

    [GunBarrel5]
    SystemType=GUN
    GunTypeName=M18_Red_Smoke
    // GunTypeName=M18_Green_Smoke
    // GunTypeName=M18_Yellow_Smoke
    // GunTypeName=M18_Violet_Smoke

    The commented ( // ) GunTypeNames are disabled. Simply comment out the M18_Red_Smoke line and un-comment the line for the color you'd prefer to use.

    3) If you would like friendly squads to mark enemy squads with smoke, then drill down to the \Objects\GroundObject directory in your SF2V Mod Folder. You will need to edit the following files:

    ARVN_Squad_DATA.INI
    US_Squad_early_DATA.INI
    US_Squad_DATA.INI
    VNMC_Squad_DATA.INI

    At the bottom of each file you will find the data for GunBarrel5:

    [GunBarrel5]
    SystemType=GUN
    GunTypeName=DUMMY_GUN
    // GunTypeName=M18_Yellow_Smoke
    // GunTypeName=M18_Red_Smoke
    // GunTypeName=M18_Green_Smoke
    // GunTypeName=M18_Violet_Smoke

    By default GunBarrel5 for friendly squads uses the "Dummy_Gun," which does not pop smoke. Comment out the Dummy_Gun line and un-comment the line for the color of smoke you'd prefer friendly sqauds to mark enemy troops with.

    K. BUFF-less Campaigns

    On some systems B-52 strikes can degrade performance to the point where the game is almost unplayable. If you would like to fly campaigns that include no strikes by B-52s, copy the DATA.INIs included in the \NoBUFFs folder to the appropriate sub-directory in the \Campaigns directory of yur SF2V Mod Folder. For example, CAMPAIGNV1_DATA.INI would go to \Campaigns\CampaignV1, and so on.

    L. Alternate Terrain Tiles

    By default this mod package installs Pappa Goat's re-painted versions of the Brain32/Green Hell 2 tiles. If you would prefer to revert to the original tiles by Brain32 and CA_Stary (Green Hell 2) -- which are characterized by a lighter, more blue-ish tint -- you can install those original tiles from the \Optional\GH2_Alt directory.

    To install, simply copy all the .BMP and .TGA files from top level of the \Optional\GH2_Alt directory to the following locations in your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting files as prompted:

    [sF2V Mod Folder]\Terrains\VietnamSEA
    [sF2V Mod Folder]\Terrains\SouthVietnam

    The sub-directories of \Optional\GH2_Alt contain alternate air base tiles and differently sized trees that you can also use to tweak the terrains' appearance to your liking. The \_config sub-dir contain an alternate terrain DATA.INI that is designed for use with these alternate tiles.

    M. Old Diego's Optional Items

    Old Diego has generously allowed us to use a number of his terrain and ground object models. Most of these are installed by default with the expansion pack. A few ground object items, however, have been left as "optional" installs.

    Most of these "optional" are additional soldiers. We made them "optional" because we thought not all users would like the way the game will use them for Single Missions (esp. Armed Recon and CAS missions). For example, if you install the USArmyMortar item, you could see entire squads consisting only of mortar-equipped soldiers slugging it out with NVA regulars in CAS missions.

    These "optional" items from Old Diego could be useful for those building single missions for use with this expansion pack. If you would like to install these other items from Old Diego, simply copy all the folders from the \OldDiego directory to the \Objects\GroundObject directory in your SF2V Mod Dir.

    Please note that none of Old Diego's items may be re-used or re-distributed outside of this expansion pack without Old Diego's explicit permission. For a complete listing of the items from Old Diego included in this mod, see the section titled "Note on Old Diego's Items" towards the end of this ReadMe.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    4. Known Issues

    A. General Notes

    - Default CAS loadout for A-1's should include CBU-25's on the outer wing stations, but the AI doesn't know how to use that weapon. So, load them onto your own aircraft, but don't load them on AI! The same holds true for CBU-14's, which are similar to the CBU-25's.

    - The A-1H/J Attack loadout (used for CAS and Armed Recon missions) specifies LAU-32 rocket pods on the outer wing stations. These will not show in the Loadout screen even though they will be loaded for the mission.

    - Similarly, in the Loadout screen some USAF F-4 loadouts may show either nothing loaded on the forward AIM-7 Sparrow missile wells or two ECM pods. In the mission itself those weapon stations will carry an ECM pod and a Sparrow respectively.

    - Due to a bug in the Single Mission engine for SF2 versions patched only to the May2009b level, the game will always choose the SAME ship/boat type to attack for Anti-Ship missions. The type is determined alphabetically -- whatever "Cargo_Ship" type comes first alphabetically in the GroundObject directory will be selected without variation. This bug appears to have been fixed at the June2009b patch level.

    - The model used for the RA-5C does not have a visible tailhook, though one is present on the aircraft. Thus, you can deploy the tailhook, and it will work -- it just won't be visible in external views. The same holds true for the P-2H Neptune.

    - The model used for the F-102A does have a visible tailhook, however, it is non-functional.

    - The F-100D Wild Weasel aircraft is not historically accurate. The first Wild Weasels actually used two-seater F-100F Super Sabres fitted out with special electronic equipment to locate and track the radars associated with the SA-2 Guideline. In mid-1966 they began upgrading to F-105Ds. As there is no F-100F model that we are allowed to re-distribute, we elected to cobble together a single-seat F-100D Wild Weasel to stand in its place.

    B. A Note on the Dec2009 & Later Patch Levels

    This updated package includes fixes for problems introduced by the Dec2009 patch for Strike Fighters 2 released by ThirdWire. These problems continue to affect subsequent patch levels, incuding the Feb2010 patch. If you have the "Combo Pack" (available from ThirdWire for a short period of time at the end of 2009) then you are affected.

    Although we have been able to address most issues introduced by the Dec2009 patch, in at least one case we have been able to offer only a work-around of sorts. The Dec2009 patch changes the way that terrain TGAs with "alpha layers" are rendered, causing weird display issues when viewing 3D trees through clouds at certain distances.

    We have no real fix for this bit of ugliness (which you'll immediately recognize if and when you see it). The best solution we've been able to come up with is to "disappear" the 3D trees with clear TGAs on the Dec2009 patch level. The terrain itself still looks fantastic, primarily because the terrain tiles created by Brain32 and CA_Stary (and modded by Pappa Goat) are so excellently detailed.

    We are hoping that ThirdWire will issue a follow-on patch to fix the trees/clouds issue. Until then, we think players will notice the missing 3D trees a lot less than the glaring eyesore of the oddish trees/clouds rendering caused by the Dec2009 patch.

    We also spent some time working on the dock areas at Vinh, Hong Gai, and Haiphong, adding cranes, ships, and other structures to give the sense of an active port bristling with activity. We do plan to add still more target areas to the two terrains after the Gold release of this Expansion Pack, however, those will be released as separate terrain update packages.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    6. New Terrain Items

    To support and populate all the new target areas, we have added several dozen new terrain objects. These new objects have been drawn mainly from the following third-party add-on terrains for the Strike Fighters series:

    - DRV Terrain (by Gepard)
    - Black Sea Terrain (by PFunkWorks)
    - Libya Terrain (by Wrench)
    - Norway Terrain (by S.Ansons)

    Templates for some Target Areas have been adapted from:

    - Operation Desert Storm (by ODS Group)

    The new terrain objects that we've added should be familiar to those who have used other third-party add-on terrains, as these objects tend to show up in many different terrains. The majority of objects were originally drawn from these sources:

    - CA_Stary's Forests & Farms Mod
    - Polak's Hi-Rise Mod & ObjectsPak1
    - JSF_Aggie's Enhanced Runways
    - RadarDome by Grumpapotamus
    - HeadQuarters, Control Center, Gas station, & Factory Area by Wingwiner
    - RailwayStation by Armourdave

    If you are a modder and we've used one of your terrain items but neglected to give you credit here, please let us know. We would be more than happy to add you to the credits list.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    7. Terrain Notes

    This expansion pack splits the standard VietnamSEA terrain into two different terrains: North Vietnam and South Vietnam. We decided to go with a split North/South scheme in order to impose more control over the different operations in North and South Vietnam. To that end, there are some key differences between the terrains:

    A. North Vietnam

    The North Vietnam terrain includes all the target areas that you are familiar with in the stock SF2V terrain. This terrain is designed primarily for Strike missions and the several mission types that support Strikes: Escort, Fighter Sweep (aka MiG CAP or MiG Sweep), and SEAD (Air Defense Suppression) -- in other words, the core mission types for the several air campaigns conducted against North Vietnam. You can also fly Armed Recon and Anti-Ship missions.

    B. South Vietnam

    The South Vietnam terrain includes new target areas and target items in South Vietnam, eastern Laos, eastern Cambodia, and the DMZ area. It also includes target areas in North Vietnam up through Route Pack II -- roughly speaking, the Vinh area. This terrain is primarily designed for CAS, Armed Recon, and Anti-Ship missions, though you can also fly Strike and SEAD missions in the lower Route Packs. If you are unfamiliar with the Route Package system used during the air war in Vietnam, see these discussions:

    http://www.airbattle.co.uk/d_history.html
    http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/factsheets/factsheet.asp?id=1394

    Put simply, where the focus in the North terrain is air operations against North Vietnam, the focus in the South terrain is air operations in support of the ground war against the NLF (Viet Cong, or VC) and PAVN (North Vietnamese Army, or NVA) units.

    Here's another way to think of the differences between the two terrains when you're flying Single Missions:

    1. If you want to fly Strike missions against the big targets in North Vietnam, select the North Vietnam terrain in the Single Mission screen.

    2. If you want to tangle with MiGs as part of Escort or Sweep missions, select the North Vietnam terrain.

    3. If you want to do battle against North Vietnam's formidable air defense network, fly Air Defense Suppression missions with the North Vietnam terrain.

    4. If you want to fly CAS missions, choose the South Vietnam terrain. You will be tasked with supporting friendly forces throughout South Vietnam right up to the DMZ area.

    5. If you want to fly Armed Recon missions, you can go with either the North or South terrain. With the North terrain, you get armed recon missions along the Northeast and Northwest rail lines down through the lower Route Packs as well as the northern third of the Ho Chi Minh Trail in eastern Laos. The South terrain will give you armed recon missions in the lower Route Packs and the complete length of the Ho Chi Minh Trail from the Mu Gia Pass in the north all the way down through southeast Laos and northeast Cambodia.

    6. Anti-Ship missions are similar: you can fly them in both terrains. Northern shipping routes extend from Haiphong down to Dong Hoi; Southern shipping routes extend from Dong Hoi in North Vietnam down to the Go Cong area near the Mekong Delta in South Vietnam.

    Also, for historical accuracy, we have also imposed limits on the MiG bases that are operational and available to host VPAF squadrons.

    Early on in Operation Rolling Thunder, MiGs operated from a small handful of bases: Noi Bai, Kep, Gia Lam, Bac Mai, and Hoa Loc, though other airfields in the Haiphong area and the northwest existed. After the end of Rolling Thunder the North Vietnamese began building or renovating other airfields, including those in the southern panhandle of the country. These included: Ben Loi, Bai Thuong, Dong Hoi, Dong Suong, Khe Phat, Quang To, Quon Lang, Vinh.

    Both terrains impose start dates on this list of airfields that became operational only after Rolling Thunder. Until the start date for each airfield, the runways will not appear. All the other buildings in those target areas, however, will appear, being labeled "barracks areas."

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    8. Environment Notes

    For this expansion pack we have implemented several well known terrain and environment mods:

    - Brain32's SEA Tile Repaint
    - CA_Stary's Green Hell 2
    - Better WideSky (based on Cellinsky's original WideSky)

    Given that players may have different needs and preferences, depending on their systems and aesthetic inclinations, we have have included a number of files that can be used to tweak the look and performance of these mods.

    A. Terrains - Trees

    You will notice several sub-directories in each of the main terrain directories in your SF2V Mod Folder. These contain alternate files that can be used to control the size and complexity of the trees used in the terrains.

    Tree Complexity/Detail

    The three "Detail" folders contain files to control the complexity and detail level of the trees. From the ReadMe for "Green Hell 2":

    Now you'll notice three folders: High Detail, Medium detail and Low Detail. These
    contain, well, three versions of the mod. Level of detail corresponds to "tree cluster"
    mesh complexity, NOT the number of trees!

    - High detail are the "X-type with base" and "X-type" trees, which look
    best from high angles,
    - Medium detail are the "X-type" trees, more cartoonish from top view
    - Low detail are the "fence-type" trees, less buildings in cities

    Generally try the Medium first, if you have low framerates, try Low, if you have decent
    system go ahead and try High, there isn't much difference between high and medium in
    performance hit. And read the section 5 about tips to control draw distance!

    By default both terrains use "High Detail." To switch to a lower level of detail, simply copy of the files from the appropriate "Detail" sub-directory to the main terrain directory that you wish to modify, overwriting as prompted.

    Tree Size

    By default both terrains use the standard "Green Hell 2" trees. Some users may prefer to use Bananimal's "Re-scaled Trees for Green Hell 2," which are smaller and more realistically sized than the original, larger trees, however.

    You can find copies of both tree sets (large and small) in the last two sub-directories in each terrain. Again, to install, simply copy the files from the appropriate sub-directory to the main terrain directory that you wish to change, overwriting as prompted.

    B. Terrains - Air Bases

    We were dissatisfied with the default air base tiles used by SF2V -- those neat, nicely mown squares of green -- not only because they stood out like sore thumbs on the terrain, but also because they took up so much real estate (a precious commodity around Hanoi, which is surround by five air bases). So we developed alternate air base tiles by tweaking several of the default tiles from Brain32 and CA_Stary. These tiles are installed by default with the Expansion Pack.

    Although we think the new air base tiles look much better (and more realistic), we understand that some users may prefer the original air base tiles from Brain32 and CA_Stary. If you would like to restore the "old" air base tiles, copy the two .BMP files from the \ABs_Old sub-directory in each terrain folder to the main terrain folder for North and South Vietnam, overwriting as prompted. To restore the "new" air base tiles, simply copy the .BMP files from the \ABs_New sub-directory in each terrain to the main terrain folder.

    C. Environment - Sun & Stars

    Cellinsky's original "WideSky" included several files to cange the appearance of the sun and stars, especially at sunset. By default, this expansion pack uses the original ThirdWire sun images and Cellinsky's stars.

    If you wish to change to Cellinsky's sun images, you can find them in the \Widesky sub-directory in the \Flight directory of your SF2V Mod Folder. Simply copy the four "Sun" TGAs from the \Widesky sub-directory to the main \Flight directory. To revert to the original ThirdWire sun and star images, remove the "Sun" and "Star" TGAs from the \Flight directory.

    D. Alternate Terrain Tiles

    By default this Expansion Pack installs Pappa Goat's re-painted versions of the Brain32/Green Hell 2 tiles.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    9. Colors of AAA/Flak Tracers

    This mod package makes changes to the colors of tracers used with AAA/flak guns. As the new default colors may not suit some players, the table below can be used to adjust the colored tracers to personal preferences:

    Gun TGA File Color
    --- -------- -----
    12MM_DSHK tracer6.tga orange
    14MM_KPV tracer6.tga orange
    23MM_ZU23/T tracer2.tga green
    23MM_AZP23 tracer2.tga green
    37MM_ZP39T tracer4.tga red (solid)
    57MM_S68T tracer7.tga purple (solid)
    n/a tracer.tga orange/yellow
    n/a tracer3.tga yellow
    n/a tracer5.tga green (solid)
    n/a tracer6.tga orange/red

    The easiest way to adjust the color of tracers for AAA/flak guns is to modify the tracer TGAs in the \Objects directory of your SF2V Mod Folder (as opposed to editing the guns themselves). To change the color of particular tracer, simply rename the existing TGA file to something else, then copy the tracer TGA for the color you want and rename the copy to match the original name of the tracer TGA that you renamed.

    For example, if you wanted to change the color of the purple tracer used with the 57MM_S68T gun to red, you would:

    1. Rename TRACER7.TGA to TRACER7-OLD.TGA

    2. Make a copy of TRACER4.TGA

    3. Rename the copy of TRACER4.TGA to TRACER7.TGA

    It's that simple. Note that in some cases two guns use the same tracer TGA, so changing the tracer color using the method outlined above will affect both guns that use that TGA.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    10. Legal Stuff

    We have signed onto the freeware "list" on combatace.com. As such, the work here can be included or used in other mods as along as they aren't payware and credit is given to the creator(s).

    12. A Note on the KC-135A Tanker

    Dave at CombatAce.com has generously allowed us to include bpao's KC-135A Stratotanker, which originally appeared in the NATO Fighters 4+ mod package for SF2. Bpao was the heart of The Mirage Factory, and we are very fortunate to have been given permission to ship this high quality aircraft as part of the Expansion Pack. Needless to say, bpao's KC-135A may not be re-distributed outside of NF4+ or the SF2V/WOV Expansion Pack without Dave's explicit permission. The NF4+ all-inclusive mod for SF2V may be downloaded at CombatAce:

  5. "Black Sea Crisis" for
    Strike Fighters 2 North Atlantic

    September 1994. Conspiring with senior elements of the military, a coalition of hard line Russian nationalists and former communists in the State Duma deposes President Yeltsin, who makes a dramatic escape from Russia in the middle of the night aboard a hastily commandeered Aeroflot airliner.

    Declaring the December 1991 dissolution of the Soviet Union to be an illegal act of high treason, the new powers in the Kremlin announce their intention to bring "renegade" former Soviet republics back into Moscow's orbit. Within days Russian tank divisions are massing on the Ukraine's eastern border.

    Alarmed at the rapidly mounting threat to their newly independent country, Ukraine's leaders turn to NATO and the United States for assistance. The United States responds by sailing the Eisenhower carrier group through the Turkish Straits and into the Black Sea, while simultaneously deploying several USAF bomber squadrons to Incirlik Air Base in Turkey. As tensions continue to rise, a Marine Amphibious Group is also dispatched to Sevastopol with its complement of battle-ready U.S. Marines.

    Despite the show-of-force by Washington, the revanchist hardliners in Moscow press on with the build up of military forces on the Ukrainian border, all the while demanding that U.S. military units withdraw immediately from the Black Sea area. Ignoring pleas for talks to resolve the crisis, Russian tanks cross the border in the early morning hours of September 29 as part of a full scale invasion of the Ukraine.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Minimum Requirements
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    To install and play this mod, you must have the following games as part of a merged install:

    SF2 VERSION: Strike Fighters 2 North Atlantic
    Strike Fighters 2 Europe
    PATCH LEVEL: Mar2012 or higher

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Installation
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~

    This mod requires "Strike Fighters 2 North Atlantic" (SF2NA) as well as "Strike Fighters 2: Europe" (SF2E) in a merged install. Before installing this mod package, please ensure the installation of "Strike Fighters 2 North Atlantic" and "Strike Fighters 2: Europe" that you intend to use is updated to at least the Mar2012 patch level. The latest patches for Strike Fighters 2 can be downloaded from ThirdWire:

    http://thirdwire.com/downloads.htm

    The main installation process consists of three main steps. Please read the following instructions carefully and follow them religiously. If you wind up with a non-working mod install, then you likely failed to follow the instructions properly.

    -----------------------------------
    * STEP 1: PREPARE THE MOD FOLDER *
    -----------------------------------

    This mod requires a separate mod folder. Please do not attempt to install this mod over or combine it with other mods such as "NATO Fighters 5," "Operation Desert Storm," or the SF2V Expansion Pack.

    - Open your SF2 Installation directory and make a copy of StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic.exe. Rename the copied .EXE file to StrikeFighters2_BlackSeaCrisis.exe (or whatever unique name you prefer).

    - Run the newly copied and renamed .EXE file, then exit back out to the Windows desktop after navigating through a few menus. A custom Mod Folder for your "Black Sea Crisis" mod install will have been created in one of these locations:

    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\ThirdWire\[YourModFolder]
    Windows Vista: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[YourModFolder]
    Windows 7: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[YourModFolder]

    ...where [YourModFolder] matches the name of the copied .EXE file that you created. You will install the "Black Sea Crisis" mod files to your Mod Folder.

    - Open your Mod Folder and delete the \Objects sub-directory (including everything in it).

    Now you're ready to install the "Black Sea Crisis" mod proper.

    -------------------------------------------------
    * STEP 2: INSTALL MAIN COMPONENTS TO MOD FOLDER *
    -------------------------------------------------

    This is the easiest step.

    - Unpack the four "Black Sea Crisis" archive packages you downloaded to a temporary location on your hard drive.

    - Move the contents of the \To_Mod_Folder directory from all four unzipped packages to your Mod Folder (created in Step 1 above). (Note: do not simply drag and drop the folder named "To_Mod_Folder" or you will end up with a non-working install. You should drag what's INSIDE the "To_Mod_Folder" directory.)

    If you've moved everything correctly, you should have a new \Objects sub-directory in your Mod Folder, along with a few new other sub-directories.

    ----------------------------
    * STEP 3: EDIT OPTIONS.INI *
    ----------------------------

    This last step involves a bit of text editing, so please pay attention.

    Open the Options.INI in your Mod Folder. Locate the "Single Mission" section. At minimum you should change the EndYear= statement to 2000 or higher. I recommend setting the StartYear= and EndYear= as follows:

    StartYear=1992
    EndYear=2020

    Finally, a little further down you should find the "Campaign" section. Replace it with the following:

    [Campaign]
    CampaignName=1994-0929 Black Sea Crisis (Full)
    PlayerService=USN
    PlayerUnit=VF-142 Ghostriders
    AircraftType=F-14B_87
    Difficulty=NORMAL
    Length=NORMAL
    AircraftSupply=NORMAL
    WeaponSupply=LIMITED
    LoadCampaign=FALSE
    CampaignSavename=DefaultCampaignSave

    Save your changes and close the Options.INI file.

    * * * * *

    THAT'S IT. The "Black Sea Crisis" mod should now be installed on your PC and ready to play.

    If you start the mod and it crashes or you don't see any new aircraft or campaigns, then you didn't install the mod properly (and that's exactly what I'm going to tell you if you post to the CombatAce forums and ask me if I have "any ideas?" as to what the problem is).

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    A Note on the Included Campaigns
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    This mod includes five different versions of the same underlying campaign:

    - 1994-0929 Black Sea Crisis

    The basic Blue campaign. Blue-side forces include the Ukrainian Air Force, the Eisenhower carrier battle group and its air wing, the Nassau Amphibious Group with its complement of AV-8Bs, and USAF bombers at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey (which are not player-flyable).

    - 1994-0929 Black Sea Crisis (Full)

    A variant of the basic Blue campaign. Blue-side forces include the Ukrainian Air Force, the Eisenhower Carrier Battle Group and its air wing, the Nassau Amphibious Group with its complement of AV-8Bs, USAF fighters and attack aircraft deployed to Ukrainian air bases, and USAF bombers at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey (these last not being player-flyable).

    - 1994-0929 Black Sea Crisis (Red)

    A Red variant of the "Full" 1994 campaign discussed just above. In this variant the player flies for the Russian Air Force.

    - 1996-0929 Black Sea Crisis

    Another Blue-side variant of the "Full" campaign above, but set in 1996. The Eisenhower's carrier air wing now includes F/A-18Cs in lieu of the A-6Es and A-7Es of the 1994 campaign. The Nassau's AV-8Bs are an upgraded version.

    - 1996-0929 Black Sea Crisis (Red)

    A Red variant of the 1996 campaign described above. Russian forces are essentially the same, but some fighters now use AA-12s in lieu of AA-10s.

    ** Conventional SF2 Campaign Variants **

    The game engine for SF2NA brought many welcome new features to the world of Strike Fighters 2. As useful as those new features are, the SF2NA campaign engine (i.e., the engine that allows for "naval campaigns" with battle groups and cruise missile strikes) was clearly designed specifically for the SF2NA Iceland/North Atlantic campaign, as it attempts to turn every campaign into North Atlantic, Part II.

    Once battle groups are "discovered" by the opposing side, the campaign engine will throw everything at that battle group, mission after mission, until all the ships are sunk or the attacking side runs out of aircraft capable of performing strike missions. This can become a bit wearisome, and it is extremely difficult to prevent those battle groups from being "discovered" and attacked. In the standard SF2NA-style campaigns listed above, this usually happens around the fifth mission of the campaign.

    To give players an alternative to the standard "North Atlantic" duel-to-death naval campaign, I have included standard SF2-style campaigns that put the campaigns' focus squarely on the battle for the Ukraine. The carrier battle groups will no longer be attacked. (One can imagine a scenario in which the Kremlin -- based on a combination of military and political reasons -- elects not to directly attack American carrier groups while still engaging U.S. aircraft flying in defense of Ukraine.)

    The upside to these "conventional" campaigns is that the campaign engine no longer gets stuck in the same cycle of hurling strike aircraft at the battle groups over and over. The downside is that carrier battle groups no longer move together. The carrier moves, but the escort ships are static terrain elements. Also, the big bombers on both sides tend to make less frequent appearances from their off-map air bases.

    How to Use the Conventional Campaigns:

    If you wish to try the conventional campaigns, you will have to install them from \Optional\CampaignsAlt (found in the directory where you unpacked the "Black Sea Crisis" downloads).

    1. Drag the \Campaigns folder to the Mods folder where you installed the "Black Sea Crisis" mod, allowing Windows to overwrite files as prompted.

    2. Drag the \Terrains folder to the "Black Sea Crisis" Mods folder as well, again allowing Windows to overwrite files as prompted.

    When you re-start the game, the listed campaigns will play as conventional, SF2-style campaigns.

    Please note that in the above install process you are effectively converting the Black Sea terrain into a conventional SF2 terrain. While the terrain is coverted into a conventional, non-naval terrain, naval aircraft in Single Missions will fly from land bases, not carriers.

    To convert the terrain back into an SF2NA-style "naval" terrain, copy these files from \Terrains\BlackSea2 (in the directory where you unpacked the "Black Sea Crisis" download files) to the \Terrains\BlackSea2 directory in your Mods folder:

    BlackSea2.INI
    BlackSea2_TARGETS.INI
    BlackSea2_WATER.bmp

    That's right -- those are the only files that need to be restored. I would recommend restoring the original SF2NA-style campaigns at the same time.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    A Note on Anti-Ship Missiles
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    For this mod most third-party (i.e., non-stock) anti-ship missiles have been converted to use the ASM/cruise missile functionality introduced w/ SF2NA. At the same time, the older versions of these missiles have been preserved, as the new ASM cruise missiles can be used by AI only against ships.

    So, for many anti-ship missiles you will now find two versions:

    1) "Standard" guided version

    These versions are the "old" style missiles setwith WeaponDataType=1. They can be used by AI against land and sea targets. These missiles retain their familiar names (e.g., AGM-84D Harpoon, Kh-59M Ovod, etc.).

    2) ASM/cruise missile version

    These versions utilitize the new cruise missile functionality set by WeaponDataType=7. They can be used by AI only against ships. These versions can be distinguished by their names:

    - U.S./NATO missiles have the ASM tag (e.g., AGM-84D Harpoon ASM).

    - Soviet/WP missiles follow the naming convention used by ThirdWire's
    Soviet cruise missiles (e.g., Kh-59M AS-13 Kingbolt).

    At the same time aircraft that typically carry these missiles have been updated to accommodate the ASM versions. Loadouts for these aircraft have been updated to use ASM versions by default for Anti-Ship, Naval_Attack, and Cruise_Missile loadouts.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    A Note on Laser-Guided Bombs (LGBs)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    AI pilots in Strike Fighters have long had problems employing LGBs. AI pilots in the player's flight can drop LGBs, but will treat them as dumb bombs. AI pilots in flights not controlled by the player (i.e., AI-only flights) cannot use LGBs at all, and will typically get stuck circling the target.

    To address this problem I have created EOGB versions of all LGBs for AI pilots to use (AI pilots have no problems with EOGBs for some reason). These AI versions are identical in all respects to the LGB versions save for the Guidance Type, which is set to "Electro-Optical Guided" instead of "Laser-Guided."

    By default aircraft that use LGBs for certain loadouts (usually Stike, Attack, SEAD, or Anti-Ship) are loaded with these AI (EOGB) versions instead of the LGB versions. You should make it a habit to check the Loadout screen and switch the bomb version on your own aircraft to the LGB version.

    You can distinguish between the AI (EOGB) and LGB (Player) versions by the weapon name -- for example:

    LGB version: GBU-12D/B Paveway II LGB
    AI version: GBU-12D/B Paveway II (AI)

    While this solution introduces an extra step for the player in the preparation to start a mission, it allows AI pilots and AI-only flights to use these weapons.

    The works of art used for the campaign end screens -- "The Black Sea" (1881), "Russian Black Sea Fleet on a Parade Review" (1849), and "Pushkin on the Coast Black Sea" (1887) -- are all by the 19th century Russian maritime artist Ivan Aivazovsky. You can see more of Aivazovsky's works online at Wikiart:

    |
    |Known BUGS:
    |

    Decimomannu , Giogia del colle and Souda Bay bases are on the limits of the map, so you may hit the "Wall" , in order to avoid this just start the mission from air.
    Solenaza air base, although mentioned, it does not exist so the french units based there in the real life, in the mod operate from Italy.
    No weapons and effects are included, so please download the lastest weapon/effects pack.

    |
    |Important Remarks:
    |

    Most of the missions are just Strike missions against warehouses etc , so if you had expected
    a super intense campaign this is not your mod.

    French and european air forces have the dominant role in the MOD , US presence is purely testimonial as well as Libyan forces.

  7. I dont own this Mod somebody post it here https://www.deviantart.com/bigshi/art/FFR-41-MR-MAVE-vs-F-A-37-Talon-supersonic-kills-640041898.
    I tried to find this Mod.After spending a week or so I found this on Deviant art.If the the real creator sees this please inform me(gmail:cyber3xsimon@gmail.com) i will Remove this mod if he wants to or add his name.
    This is from Anime Yukikaze.It was a Reconnaissance aircraft then later FAF send it to Special Mission with Lt Rei Fukai.
    Details
    Working Cockpit
    HQ Model with effects
    Custom Hud and Radar
    Note:While playing campaign the year must be 2000+ ,because the weapon manufacturing date was set to 2000.If you want to play in game campaign then you have to change data file. you can change that in by FFR-41MR_Late_DATA (opens with notepad) and find Weapon Stations then find SpecificStationCode=FAF,change it to SpecificStationCode=.it should work.
    Advance Sorry for my bad writing.
    Happy flight

  8. This is an Expansion Pack. You need The Scandinavian Front 2 in order to play this mod.
    (Please read the included Credits file. I could not do what I do without the lovely people who helped me by allowing me to use their work!)

    The official soundtrack of the mod is
    with Sabaton.
    Before downloading the main files again if you seek to patch the game, check the support topic. Patches are posted there too.

    Main Features:
    * Several new and unique aircraft to fly, amongst them the Saab 18, Saab 21, Myrsky, Fouga Magister and Avia S-92!

    * New cockpits for the De Havilland Mosquito, Saab 18, Saab 21 and the Fouga Magister by Stary; one of the best cockpit builders for Strike Fighters.

    * A new Campaign, featuring an all out liberation of Finland by Swedish and Norwegian Forces set in the year 1950 including Amphibious Assaults.

    * Fly for the Finnish Soviet Socialist Republic! A TSF First, this Campaign will allow you to fly an aircraft for the communists, defeating the filthy, warmongering imperialists in the name of Socialism!

    * Bug Fixes and updates to the older campaigns, adding or replacing aircraft where suitable.
    Included Campaigns:
    Campaign Name: Operation Harmaahylje
    Year: 1950
    Flyable Services: Swedish Air Force, Norwegian Air Force, Finnish Soviet Socialist Republic Air Force.
    Naval Combat: Yes
    Ground War Scale: Large
    What to expect: Korea War dogfights with very unique aircraft, a long and intense ground war that does not pull any punches.

    Installation:
    This mod requires SF2: Europe & SF2 North Atlantic with The Scandinavian Front 2 Installed, Expansion Pack 1 and DLC 008 J 34 Hawker Hunter is highly recommended.

    First of all, make sure you are using SF2: Europe and that it is patched to the latest version. This is _vital_.
    Check http://www.thirdwire.com if you are unsure what the latest patch is, but the game should notify you if there is new patches out.

    If you are using a mod, or plan to use one, TSF will mess around with settings other mods may be using. As such, creating a seperate mod folder for TSF is
    a good idea. If you only plan to use TSF, then this step can be bypassed.

    Now go to your Mod Folders. For Windows 7/Vista, this is located in C:\Users\Name\Saved Games\Thirdwire. For Windows XP Users, it is usually in My Documents.
    Unzip the contents of the 7zip files "TSF2" into the mod folder already containing TSF 2. Allow any overwrites.

    Notes:
    Any person who may be responsible for the fact that Team TSF is not allowed to use the A-Team Saab 37 Viggen may not play this modification. If any breach of this rule occurs, I am at full liberty to mete out whatever punishment I deem fit. By downloading the modification, you agree to this condition.

    (Please read the included Credits file. I could not do what I do without the lovely people who helped me by allowing me to use their work!)

  10. Admin: This is complete install without any Campaigns. I didn't know where else to put it.

    The Continuation War was fought between 25 June 1941 and 19 September 1944 between Finland and the USSR. This was a true David and Goliath battle. Finland cobbled together a small airforce from the obsolete aircraft of other countries and faced a colossal Soviet Sir Force. Finland should have been overrun within weeks, but that's not how it worked out... This is a tribute to the tenacity of the Finnish armed forces.

    This is a complete install of the Continuation War. It is built for the benefit of those "without access" to the more diverse ww2 resources of the Development A-Team (DAT), though anyone is welcome to use this Continuation War install. In no way is this intended as a competing product for the A-Team's Winter War. Rather, it is an alternative for those unable to access DAT. This is an informal install. It is not offered as a final product, merely as something to get you flying in the region until further resources are available at CA. If some brave soul will make a Karelian Isthmus terrain, I'd be eternally grateful.

    In this install you get:

    - New skins
    - Skins "adapted" for use over the battlefield.
    - New Flight Models (FMs) with Aggressive AI.
    - Sounds from AvHistory and others.
    - New Menu screens and sounds.

    Finnish Aircraft Include:

    Thanks to Wrench in general. He had a hand in a lot of this stuff. He keeps the props flames burning, and answers a LOT of questions. Much appreciated Wrench.

    * This compiles so many different projects over so many years and so many missing readme's, that there are many more people deserving credit than are listed. If you've been missed, I apologize profusely. Please let me know and I'll put your name in.

    A few comprises were made to get this going. The Swedish terrain (produced by JonathanRL's TSF team) is modern Sweden. However it has an old world feel to it that plays well in a ww2 install. Pasko's Yak-9P stands in for the Yak-1B, Yak-9T, Yak-9D, and Yak-9U. There are minor differences between the versions so visually, the Yak-9P is an excellent stand-in. There is one "What If" included. The Fiat G.55 did not fly for Finland. In reality, Germany was very impressed with the G.55 and collected up to 42 examples for study. What happened to them after that? Well, they might easily have been donated to Finland like so many other aircraft.

    INSTALLATION:

  13. Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic
    - The RSR Edition

    This is an add-on package for the "Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic" (SF2NA) Expansion Pack available at CombatAce. The "SF2NA: RSR Edition" (SF2NA-RSR) add-on offers a new campaign that is markedly different from the default "Northern Sabre" campaign that ships with SF2NA as well as fourteen stand-alone missions that can be flown independently of the campaign. Also included are eleven new aircraft and a four new ground objects to fill out the campaign and missions. Please note that while the campaign and missions are inspired by a certain popular novel from the 1980's, they are not designed to faithfully re-create down to the last detail episodes from that book.

    This add-on package is designed to be applied over the top of an existing installation of the SF2NA Expansion Pack. You can download the three main Expansion Pack files here:

    Part 1:
    http://combatace.com/files/file/13980-sf2na-expansion-pack-part-1-of-3/

    Part 2:
    http://combatace.com/files/file/13979-sf2na-expansion-pack-part-2-of-3/

    Part 3:
    http://combatace.com/files/file/13978-sf2na-expansion-pack-part-3-of-3/

    Please take a look over the remainder of this ReadMe before installing this add-on.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Requirements
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~

    The minimum requirements for this add-on package are the same as for the SF2NA Expansion Pack.

    REQUIRED: Strike Fighters 2 North Atlantic (SFNA), plus
    Strike Fighters 2 (SF2), plus
    Strike Fighters 2 Europe (SF2E), plus
    Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam (SF2V)

    PATCH LEVEL: Mar2012 or higher

    As this mod is an add-on to the SF2NA Expansion Pack, you must have that earlier mod already installed and working.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Installation
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Here's how to install this add-on package:

    1. Ensure that SF2NA, SF2V, SF2, and SF2E are all properly installed & updated as part of a
    merged install.

    2. Ensure that the SF2NA Expansion Pack is properly installed and working. (See above for
    links to all the download components.)

    3. Unpack SF2NA_RSR.7z to a safe place on your drive.

    4. Open the \To_Mod_Folder directory. Drag and drop all the files and folders from within
    the \To_Mod_Folder sub-folder to your SF2NA Expansion Pack Mod Folder, overwriting as
    prompted.

    At this point the SF2NA-RSR add-on is installed and you're ready to play the new campaign.

    For information on the individual missions that are also included as well as some optional items that you can install, please see the following two sections.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Optional Items
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    This add-on package includes files to support the use of Gerwin's alternate IcelandNA terrain as well as Baltika's Iceland02 terrain. These optional files are contained in the \_Optional directory.

    \_Optional\Baltika:

    This directory contains files to update the version of Baltika's Iceland02 terrain that is included in the SF2NA Expansion Pack (also as an Optional install). It also contains a custom version of the new campaign for use with Baltika's terrain.

    To use these updated optional files you must install Baltika's Iceland02 as directed in the SF2NA Expansion Pack documentation for that terrain as well as the updates for it included in the SF2NA Expansion Pack.

    Once the terrain and original updates are installed, you can install the additional updates for the terrain included in this directory. You can also install the alternate version of the new campaign (which will overwrite the standard version of the new campaign that works on the IcelandNA terrain).

    \_Optional\Gerwin:

    This directory contains files to update Gerwin's alternate IcelandNA terrain, which is included in the SF2NA Expansion Pack. To use these updated files you must have Gerwin's terrain installed as instructed in the documentation for the SF2NA Expansion Pack.

    To use Gerwin's alternate terrain with the new campaign, you will need to edit the new campaign's main .INI in the same way you did the campaigns included in the SF2NA Expansion Pack. See Step 7 of the installation instructions for Gerwin's alternate terrain in the SF2NA Expansion Pack.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Summary of New Campaign
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    This add-on supplies a new campaign set in June 1986 for the SF2NA Expansion Pack. This campaign is markedly different from the stock "Northern Sabre" campaign in that the Soviets control all of Iceland at the start of the campaign.

    A large USN/USMC naval convoy approaches from the southwest to re-take the island from the Soviet forces entrenched on the island. That convoy consists of two carrier groups (led the Independence & the America), two amphibious groups (led by the Tarawa & Peleliu), and a naval gunfire support group (anchored by the USS Iowa & USS New Jersey). USAF, USN, and RAF aircraft based in Scotland fly from off-map air bases in support of the convoy.

    The first few days of the campaign are spent striking Soviet targets on the island, fending off Soviet long range recon aircraft searching for the naval convoy, and searching for Soviet naval units thought to be moving towards Iceland. The Marines land at two points near Mt. Snaefllsjokull on the western side of the island north of Reykjavik.

    The new campaign appears in the campaign list as: 1986-0618 Northern Sabre (RSR).

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Individual Missions
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    As noted earlier, this add-on includes fourteen missions that can be flown independently of the campaign. These missions are located in the \_Missions directory. For instructions on how to install and play the individual missions, please see the ReadMe for the missions included there.

    Hey, Paulopanz. This one is for you. Consider it a Thank-You for all you done for TSF !

    Summary:
    September, 1959

    The Peoples Republic of China increases their rethoric against their wayward province Taiwan, on the Island of Formosa. For the purpose of "peace and order"
    in the region, they demand that Formosa shall surrender its independence. Meanwhile, both US and Taiwan intelligence services declare the probability of actual invasion to be low.

    Intimidated by the massive bomber armada of the PRC, the Goverment of Taiwan requests US Aid who comes swiftly in the shape of several Interceptor Squadrons.
    Two Carrier Groups in the Pacific are also ordered to converge on Formosa; bolstering the strike capacity of the Island.

    The worst fear of the Taiwanese people is confirmed as Amphibious Regiments are spotted outside the coast of the outer islands. This will be one of the fierest ground, air and naval war in history.

    Will Formosa fall before US Marines arrive to relive the defenders?

    Installation:
    Required:
    Strike Fighters 2 Europe
    Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam

    Recommended:
    A-4A DLC
    Expansion Pack 1

    First of all, make sure you are using the required packages merged and that it is patched to the latest version. This is _vital_.
    Check http://www.thirdwire.com if you are unsure what the latest patch is, but the game should notify you if there is new patches out.

    If you are using a mod, or plan to use one, This mod will mess around with settings other mods may be using. As such, creating a seperate mod folder for Formosa is
    a good idea. If you only plan to use Formosa on your main installation, then this step can be bypassed.

    Go to your installation folder (Usually C:\Program Files\Thirdwire\Strike Fighters 2). Make a copy of Strike Fighters 2.exe / Strike Fighters 2 Europe.exe
    depending on what you prefer and got installed. Name the Copy Strike Fighters 2 Formosa.exe . Start your new .exe once, then close the game.

    Now go to your Mod Folders. For Windows 7/Vista, this is located in C:\Users\Name\Saved Games\Thirdwire. For Windows XP Users, it is usually in My Documents.
    Unzip the contents of the 7zip file "Formosa" into the mod folder of your choice. Allow any overwrites.

    If you own Expansion Pack 1, unzip the file "Optimal" into the same Mod Folder to install correct skins for the J-2.

    Enjoy!

    (Yes, I take requests. Just make them reasonable...)

  18. --------------------------------------------------
    Kesselbrut's
    "Falklands '82" (Operation Corporate)
    for Strike Fighters 2
    --------------------------------------------------

    This package contains an updated version of Kesselbrut's "Falklands '82" (Operation Corporate) mod package for Strike Fighters 2 (SF2). In addition to making the original mod compatible with SF2, this updated version also adds a number of other mods that were released in the years subsequent to Kesselbrut's original effort.

    This update pack should be applied to SF2 or SF2V installations (or merged installs incorporating SF2 or SF2V) that are patched to the Dec2009 or later patch level, including Feb2010, Mar2010, May2010, Jun2010, Dec2010, Jan2011, May2011, Jun2011, Jul2011, or Aug2011. If you are running SF2 or SF2V at an earlier patch level and do NOT intend to update to one of the later patch levels mentioned above, you should NOT install this mod package.

    Note that this is a COMPLETE mod package. There is no need to install the original "Falklands '82" mod for SFP1.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Installation
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Before installing this mod package, please ensure the installation of Strike Fighters 2 that you intend to use is updated to at least the Dec2009 patch level (the Jun2010 patch level is recommended). The latest patches for Strike Fighters 2 can be downloaded from ThirdWire:

    http://thirdwire.com/downloads.htm

    Also, please be aware that the mod requires either the original Strike Fighters 2 (with the Desert terrain) or Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam (SF2V). If you will be using SF2V as a mod base, then you will have one additional step at the end of the installation process.

    The main installation process consists of three main steps. Please read the following instructions carefully and follow them religiously. If you wind up with a non-working mod install, then you likely failed to follow the instructions properly.

    NOTE: If you installed the verison of this mod released in Dec. 2010, we recommend that you NOT install this newer version over that older version. Instead, start from scratch, using a fresh/new Mod Folder.

    STEP 1: PREPARE THE MOD FOLDER

    This mod requires a separate mod folder. Please do not attempt to install this mod over or combine it with other mods such as NATO Fighter 4+ or the SF2V Expansion Pack.

    - Open your SF2 Installation directory and make a copy of StrikeFighters2.exe or StrikeFighters2 Vietnam.exe, Rename the copy to StrikeFighters2_Falklands.exe (or whatever unique name you prefer).

    - Run the newly copied and renamed .EXE file, then exit back out to the Windows desktop after navigating through a few menus. A custom Mod Folder for your Falklands'82 mod install will have been created in one of these locations:

    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\ThirdWire\[YourModFolder]
    Windows Vista: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[YourModFolder]
    Windows 7: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[YourModFolder]

    ...where [YourModFolder] matches the name of the copied .EXE file that you created.

    - Open your Mod Folder and delete the \Objects sub-directory (including everything in it).

    Now you're ready to install the Falklands'82 mod proper.

    STEP 2: INSTALL MAIN COMPONENTS TO MOD FOLDER

    This is the easiest step.

    - Unpack the SF2_Falklands82.7z archive package to a location on your hard drive.

    - Move the contents of the \To_Mod_Folder directory to your Mod Folder (created in Step 1 above).

    If you've moved everything correctly, you should have a new \Objects sub-directory in your Mod Folder, along with a few new other sub-directories.

    STEP 3: EDIT OPTIONS.INI

    This last step involves a bit of text editing, so please pay attention.

    Open the Options.INI in your Mod Folder. Locate the "Instant Action" section and replace it with the following:

    [instantAction]
    AircraftType=HarrierFRS1
    MissionMap=Malvinas
    StartTime=15:15:00
    StartDate=05/21/1982
    StartTimeDeviation=10
    TextureSet=0
    NationalMarking=0
    SquadronMarking=0
    AircraftNumber=0
    KillMarking=0

    Just below the "Instant Action" section is the "Single Mission" section. At minimum you should change the EndYear= statement to 1983 or higher. I recommend setting the StartYear= and EndYear= as follows:

    StartYear=1982
    EndYear=1983

    Save your changes and close the Options.INI file.

    STEP 4: Optional Step for SF2V Users

    This last step is for those who are using Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam (SF2V) as mod base instead of the original Strike Fighters 2 (with the Desert terrain). If your SF2 installation does not include the original SF2 (with the Desert terrain) and you're using SF2V as a mod base, then you must swap out terrain .INIs so that your MALVINAS.INI points to the correct .CAT file.

    - In your SF2 Mod Folder, open the \Terrains\Malvinas folder. Delete the file Malvinas.ini.

    - In \Terrains\Malvinas\Alt you will find the file Malvinas_vietnamsea.INI. Copy it to the \Terrains\Malvinas folder (just above the \Alt sub-folder) and re-name it to Malvinas.ini (thus replacing the file you deleted just above).

    THAT'S IT. Your "Falklands'82 for SF2" mod should now be ready to use. You may consider installing some of the "optional" items as described in the next section.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Installation of Optional Items
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Included in the \Optional folder are a number of optional items that you may consider installing (if your installation has the required base installation items).

    - Canberra62: this is an alternate version of the Canberra B.Mk62, based on the 3rdWire Canberra B.6 model. In order to use this model your base installation must include SF2E Expansion Pack 2. TO INSTALL, simply drag the \Canberra62 folder to your SF2 Mod Folder and drop it in \Objects\Aircraft. The campaigns will automatically start using this newer model.

    - Harrier3: this is an alternate version of the Harrier GR.3, based on the 3rdWire model included in SF2E. In order to use this model your base installation must include SF2E. TO INSTALL, simply drag the \Harrier3 folder to your SF2 Mod Folder and drop it in \Objects\Aircraft. The campaigns will automatically start using this newer model.

    - IAI-Dagger: this is an alternate version of the IAI Dagger, based on the 3rdWire Nesher model included in SF2I. In order to use this model your base installation must include SF2I. TO INSTALL, simply drag the \IAI-Dagger folder to your SF2 Mod Folder and drop it in \Objects\Aircraft. The campaigns will automatically start using this newer model.

    - Mirage IIIEA: this folder contains an alternate Mirage IIIEA cockpit based on the 3rdWire Mirage IIICJ cockpit from SF2I. It is a replacement for the stock cockpit of the Mirage IIIEA and requires SF2I to be part of the installation. TO INSTALL, simply drag the \MirageIIIEA folder to your SF2 Mod Folder and drop it in \Objects\Aircraft, allowing it to overwrite file as prompted.

    - WaterNormal: this folder contains various alternate WaterNormal.BMP files, which can be used to change the texture or appearance of the water in the Malvinas terrain. To use any of these alternate .BMPs, simply drag the file you wish to use to your SF2 Mod Folder and drop it in the \Terrains\Malvinas folder, allowing it to overwrite the version already there. Note: the default/original .BMP used by this mod is in the \3rdwire sub-folder.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Game Play Notes (PLEASE READ)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    There are some important things you should know about playing this updated version of the "Falklands '82" mod.

    1. Single Missions vs Campaigns

    Like the original "Falklands '82" for SFP1, the Malvinas terrain here is set up to use different years for Single Missions (i.e., "Create Mission") and the Campaigns.

    Campaigns: both campaigns automatically start on May 1, 1982, and continue
    into early June 1982.

    Single Missions: when flying Single Missions, set the "Mission Date" to 1983. If
    you set the date to 1982, you may get a CTD (crash to desktop)
    when attempting to start the mission.

    As Kesselbrut noted in his original ReadMe, game-generated single missions ("Create Mission") should be flown in 1983 because the only British air base on the islands was build in late May. If you have a mission date before May 29, 1982, the game will CTD becaue there is no air base for British aircraft to use. User-created missions (with a 1982 mission date) will work normally. British aircraft will still have to take off from a carrier before May 29, though, even in user-created missions for 1982.

    2. Recommended "Gameplay Options"

    Some of the island-based airfields are a bit rough. It is highly recommended that you change the "Landing" Game Play option to "Normal" or "Easy." If you use a "Hard" landing option setting, you may see aircraft exploding on the runway either because they start without landing gear deployed or because they lose their landing gear halfway down the runway. This is esp. true of Stanley Airfield.

    You can fly all fixed wing aircraft on "Hard" or "Normal" Flight Model. Helicopters are best flown on "Normal" Flight Model.

    3. Canberra Bomb Sight

    In the Canberra, you can switch between Pilot and Bombadier with "Hook" key to use the bomb sight.

    4. Carriers

    All Carriers have zero speed. Were they allowed to sail normally, they would cruise wildly through the ship formations.

    5. Infanty Speed

    Note from Kesselbrut: "The infantry units have too much speed - when I use normal Footslogger speed there are no ground battles."

    ~~~~~~~~~~
    Known Bugs
    ~~~~~~~~~~

    There are a few bugs (none "showstoppers") that you should be aware of.

    1. Stanley Airfield

    The terrain on which this airfield resides is treacherous. The best we've been able to do is implement workarounds for this airfield's several problems.

    First, as noted above, set your "Landing" Game Play option to "Normal" or "Easy."

    Second, you will find that you will start missions off center on the runway. This is done to prevent you from losing your landing gear half-way down the runway. Do not veer across the center line when taking off (stay in your lane).

    Third, even despite doing the above, you will notice that your aircraft is slow to accelerate and tends to bounce around a bit. You may even need to run off the end of the runway to get airborne.

    With the exception of Skyhawks (whose spindly landing gear has real problems with this runway), all Argentine aircraft can be used from Stanley. Historically, though, the runway was off-limits to the fast jets -- e.g., A-4s and Mirages.

    2. Non-paved Airfields

    When taking off from non-paved airfields -- esp. the Port San Carlos FOB used by Harriers -- you will notice your landing gear sinking into the ground a bit. Also, some airfield runway textures may not appear. These are other quirks of the Malvinas terrain in SF2 that we have been unable to fix.

    3. Rapier SAMs

    The British Rapier SAMs will not fire in the Operation Corporate campaign due to a bug in SF2 that prevents the game from handling Blue-side static SAMs correctly.

    4. Helicopters & AI Pilots

    All helicopters in this mod have been made flyable. Set the "Flight Model in Game Play Options to "Normal, and use your thrust vectoring controls in conjunction with the standard SF2 flight controls to maneuver and fly the helos.

    At the end of the day, though, Strike Fighters is NOT a helicopter sim. That means helo flight models are rough, unrealistic, and borderline unstable. It also means that AI helo pilots can occasionally run into difficulties, esp. when trying to land these things.

    Until someone creates better helo flight models for SF2 (or TK updates the ThirdWire flight engine to accommodate helicopters), that's just the way it is. If you don't like the way the helos fly, then don't fly them.

    5. Comrpnt's Missions

    Comrpnt created an excellent set of historical missions for his "Falklands Mod & Mission Pack." While these work fine with the original "Falklands '82" mod for SFP1, we encountered significant problems when attempting to get them to work in SF2.

    In particular, there appears to be a bug in SF2 that causes the game to refuse to start an aircraft on the ground at an offset east or west of the defined center of the airfield target area. This bug manifests itself only in user-created single missions for some reason. The consequence is that many aircraft in comrpnt's missions have problems taking off -- esp. from the Hermes or Stanley Airfield -- because they start on the ground in the wrong position relative to the runway (whether it be a carrier deck or a land-based runway).

    As we could not resolve these problems or find an acceptable workaround for this bug, we have not included comrpnt's missions (though we have implemented other parts of his Falklands mod pack).

  20. Campaign RJAF No.1 Sqn Six Days war(Hunter 6)
    For Wings over Israel.
    This campaign with 11 missions for the RJAF No.1 Sqn with Hunter 6 cover the periode from Jun 5 to Jun 10, 1967.
    Historical accurate with the main units, number of aircrafts and RJAF deployment by Jun 5, 1967.
    Added to the campaign and included textures for IrAF No.17 MiG-21FL, No.10 Sqn detachment with Tu-16 and SyAAF No.19 Sqn IL-28s.
    Revised ground forces and add AMX-13,  Su-100,  BTR-50PK,  M16Quad,  M113,  PZKW-IVA,  37InchAA, and two Bofors type AAA.
    RJAF and Hunter 6
    The RJAF introduced the Hunter 6 in service in Nov 1958.
    With the 11 jets delivered arrived also a group of British instructors led by Wg Cdr Bennet, RAF, to support the RJAF through the process of introducting this type into service.
    Introduction process faced a number of problems, resulting in heavy attrition of the Hunter fleet and even pilot losses. Lt Marwan Jamil Zakaria was killed in the crash of a Junter F.6 on Oct 7, 1959,  and another Hunter was lost in a crash on Jul 1, 1960, although its pilot ejected safely. Only two months later, on Sep 10, 1960, Lt Ali Saleem al-Omari was killed in another crash.
    This series of incidents prompted the RJAF to order three newly builded Hunter T.66B for almost immediately delivery, in order to ease the process of converting its young pilots to the type.
    The same year were acquired two Hunters equipped for reconnaissance purposes, two ex-RAF FR.10s.
    In 1961, following acquisition of MiGs by Iraq, King Hussein decided to replace the Vampires flown by No.2 Sqn and ordered another batch of 12 ex RAF F.6s.
    Deliveries of these aircrafts began in April 1962, and resulted in the retirement of Jordan remaning Vampires on Apr 17, 1962.
    In November 1962, the RJAF lost six pilots for defection to Egypt.. Same month, RJAF Hunters were re-deployed to Arabia Saudita for 10 days.
    By 1963, the RJAF had 20 Hawker Hunter F.6 on strenght, two FR.10 reconnaissance type and three training type T.66B. No.2 Sqn was disbanded, its personnal and equipment being amalgamated into No.1 Sqn.
    During the same year was created a display team, named Hashemite Diamond.
    Two Hunters were lost in separate accidents in 1964-1965, including T.66B with serial number 714 written off in a crash that killed both of its pilots, on Aug 15, 1965. This same year, the former F.6s of No.2 Sqn were returned to the UK for conversion to FGA.9 standard and designated FGA.73.
    By May 1967, work of eight Hunters was complete and six of the aircraft returned to Jordan.
    At the eve of the Six Days War, Jun 5, 1967, RJAF No.1 Sqn had only 21 Hunters on hand, with 18 combat ready. The unit was based at Mafraq AB, with 14 pilots and his mission was interception and close support duties
    The units was also in reorganisation for conversion in F-104 Starfighter and most of the pilots were in USA and only 14 pilots were availables.
    Two Pakistanies instructors were added to the roster of pilots.
    No.1 Squadron RJAF was among the first Jordanian military units to be alerted for action, at 05.00 local time on the morning of Jun 5, 1967, and its pilots expected to take off as soon as the new came that the war had started.
    Maj Firas Ajlouni, CO No.1 Squadron, gathered his pilots for a briefing, instruction seven of them to prepare for air defense sorties, while he was to lead the others into an attack on Israeli airfields.
    RJAF Hunters were launched between 11.50 and 11.55 to strike“Netanya Air Base“ a small airfield east of Haifa used by civilians only. The three Hunters formation dont finded the target and after Israeli reports attack with HSI rockets ABIC Pharmaceutics factory. On the way back towards Mafraq AB their formations was nearly intercepted by a pair of Mirages from No.117 Squadrons, scrambled from Ramat David and vectored to intercept Iraqi Hunters.
    The GCI give a vector to intercept the three RJAF Hunters and near Ramleh the Mirages sighted the Jordanians. However, the only Shafrir 1 missile the Israelis managed to fire missed its low-flying target, and the pilots were then vectored to intercept another target. The three RJAF Hunters returned to Mafraq undisturbed.
    Other RJAF four Hunters patrol near the border was not so lucky. Four IDF/AF Mirages of the No.117 Sqn sighted the Jordanians and went to intercept. No.1 Sqn Hunters dive to the ground and take the heading to Mafraq, but
    Capt Wasfi Ammari was pursued by O.Sagee flying Mirage IIICJ No.44.  Sagee launched a Shafrir 1 but this one dropped downwards, below the enemy engine; he switch to cannon and at 200m shot down the Hunter after crossing the Jordan river. Wasfi Ammari ejected, was wounded and recovered.
    At 13.48 hours(Jordanian time)four Super Mystere B2 from No.109 Sqn destroyed the main Jordan radar at Ajloun. The alert was gived at Amman but was too late.
    One of the two Pakistani instructors took off from Mafraq AB with a Jordanian pilot, Lt Ishan Chourdom, for interception of No.109th Sqn Super Mysteres and one minute later, Mafraq was under attack by eight Mystere IVA of the 116th Sqn.
    Two Hunters in preparation for take off were quickly engaged. Both fighters were destroyed at ground and one pilot, Maj Firass al-Journi was KIA. The Israelians damaged the runway and claims the destruction of three Hunters on the ground.
    One Mystere IVA was damaged by AAA.
    The Pakistani instructors, Lt Saif-oul-Azam , engaged a formation of four Mystere and hit the No.4. The Mystere loss sobre debris and Azam engaged then two other Mystere. A 200m a burst of his cannon hit one of the Mystere and the Israelian fighter start to descend. Azam was credited with one victory. IDF/AF admitted the loss of Mystere IVA No.94 of the 116th Sqn, flown by Lt. H.Bola(KIA).
    The Israelians claims 24 Hawker Hunter destroyed on the ground at Mafraq AB, but actually were destroyed or badly damaged 13 Jordanian fighters.
    Azam and Chourdom returned to Mafraq AB but with the rwy damaged, were forced to divert and land at Amman AB.
    At 14.00 hours Mafraq was again attacked, this time by four Ouragans of No.113th Sqn. They encountered no opposition other than AAA fire and flew three attack patterns to claim the destruction of two Hunters on the ground.
    Two Ouragan were damaged by the AAA and the No.4, failed to respond to calls from other formation members and enter striaght into the “no-fly zone“ over the Dimona complex. He was finally shot down by one Israelian missile Hawk when his fly too near of Dimona nuclear plant.
    At 14.07 Mafraq receive a third strike by the Mystere IVA of 116th Sqn . The base was again attacked by Ouragans at 14.22 and 14.30 and eight Vampire and at least two helicopters were destroyed.
    One Ouragan was hit by AAA and his pilot ejected safely over the Mediterranean Sea.
    At 14.39 Amman AB was attacked by four Mirages from No.119 Sqn. The Mirages first bombed the runway then returned to strafe aircrafts on ground,  destroying the last Hunters,  the UN C-47, one RJAF Westland Widgeon,  the DH Dove of the British Attaché and one Beech Bonanza. One RJAF DH Dove was also damaged.
    Four Hunters(including Azam and Chourdom fighters)were destroyed at the ground and the runway was damaged.
    By the end of the journey, 17 of the 21 RJAF Hawker Hunters were destroyed. Only four, but damaged, survived the Israelian attacks. Two pilots were KIA.
    Without fighters to fly, Lt Saif-oul-Azam and Lt Ishan Chourdom quit Jordan and travel by ground to Habbaniya AB in Iraq arriving there in the last hours of Jun 6, 1967.
    Tired after so a long travel, were again combat ready by 04.00 hours and were instructed to prepare a cover protection mission for H-3 Al-Walid.
    Four Hunters 59 took-off from Habbaniya(formation included also IrAF pilots Lt Samir Yousif Zainal and Galeb al-Hamid al-Qaysi)and in route were vectored to intercept the 3th IDF/AF strike underway to attack H-3 Al-Wallid.
    (The Israelian make the mistake of use the same path used in his failed 2th attack and were easily spotted by observers deployed in the desert).
    If the 2th strike againt H-3 Al-walid was a failure for the IDF/AF, the third was a disaster.
    The IDF/AF formation was composed with 4 Vautour of the No.110th Sqn with the escort of 4 Mirage IIICJ of the 117th Sqn. The Mirage were armed with bombs to destroy H-3 rwy.
    At 11.30 the Israelian began the attack on H-3 but were intercepted some two minutes later by the IrAF Hunters. One Hunter was shot down by Capt G.Dror in Mirage IIICJ No.60(pilot Galeb al-Hamid al-Qaysi was KIA).
    But Dror had not time to celebrate his victory, some second after his Mirage was hit by the 30mm rounds of Saif-oul-Azam and was forced to eject and became POW.
    After shot down Dror, Saif-oul-Azam, manouevre, evaded a burst of Ezra Dothan and hit the Vautour fly by Cne Glant-Golan. He eject also to became POW. That was Azam´s 3th victory in the Six Days War.
    Near at the same time, Azam´s No.3, Lt Zainal, evaded another burst of Ezra Dothan and hit another Vautour. The Jet start to smoke and the two crew eject but the Vautour exploded flamming the two parachutes.
    By this moment the CO of the IDF/AF Somech ordered to disengaged but Zainal continued his attack and went behind the two last two Vautours. He hit again another and the jet start to smoke and finally was forced to broke the contact  over Jordania, short of fuel and land at H-3. Azam and Chourdom succeded in return with the last drops of fuel to Habbaniya AB. Zainal, after refuelling at H-3, returned to Habbaniya one hour after.
    In the returning flight the surviving Israelians were taked in chase by two SyAAF MiG-21FL of No.67 Sqn. The Syrians launched four R-3S but only one find the target and hit the Mirage flown by Maj E.Dothan(No.29).
    Dothan succeded in return and safely land his damaged Mirage at Megido AB.

  21. Operation Blue Scimitar:

    May 30, 1975. After 3 border skirmishes between the pro-west Kingdom of Dhimar, and the Soviet backed Paran, 3 Allied carriers, the HMS Ark Royal, HMAS Melbourne, and the Clemenceau, are moved to the Straits of Dhimar. Paran has been mobilizing reserve units for the past 2 weeks and it appears an invasion of Dhimar is eminent. France, Australia and Britain have pledged limited defensive support if Dhimar is attacked.

    Required: Strike Fighters2 + Europe
    DLC: MirageIIIC , Hunter(Oman), F-4K, F-8E(FN), A-4G
    Add-ons: Super Etendard Buccaneer FAA

    Recommended: Europe Addon Pack, Flyable F-104G, Hi-Res Tileset

    A carrier campaign for some DLC. The Clem, The Melbourne and The Ark Royal are in name only, not accurately modeled. The default SF2 carrier is standing in until I have some addons to plug in, which may never happen. But don't let that stop you from enjoying this little campaign.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Minimum Requirements
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    To install and play this mod, you must have the following games as part of a merged install:

    SF2 VERSION: Strike Fighters 2 Israel
    Strike Fighters 2 Israel Expansion Pack
    PATCH LEVEL: Mar2012 or higher

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Installation
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~

    This mod requires "Strike Fighters 2: Israel" (SF2I) as well as "Strike Fighters 2: Israel, Expansion Pack" (SF2I Expansion Pack 1) in a merged install. Before installing this mod package, please ensure the SF2I installation that you intend to use is updated to at least the Mar2012 patch level. The latest patches for Strike Fighters 2 can be downloaded from ThirdWire:

    http://thirdwire.com/downloads.htm

    Please note that this mod is designed to be installed to a clean Mods Folder and should not be installed over the top of any other major mod, including the previously released "48-56" mod for SF2I.

    The main installation process consists of two main steps. Please read the following instructions carefully and follow them religiously. If you wind up with a non-working mod install, then you likely failed to follow the instructions properly.

    -----------------------------------
    * STEP 1: PREPARE THE MOD FOLDER *
    -----------------------------------

    This mod requires a separate Mods Folder. Please do not attempt to install this mod over or combine it with other mods such as "Operation Darius," "Operation Desert Storm," or the "48-56" mod for SF2I.

    You can install this mod to a clean install of SF2I and the SF2I Expansion Pack (i.e., an install that uses a virgin Mod Folder that has had no other mods added to it), or you can create a new custom install with a new Mods Folder.

    If you already have a virgin Mods Folder that's ready to be used for the SF2I Extension Pack, then proceed to Step 2 below. If, however, you choose to create a new custom install for the SF2I Extension Pack, do the following:

    - Open your SF2 Installation directory and make a copy of StrikeFighters2 Israel.exe. Rename the copied .EXE file to StrikeFighters2_ExtensionPack.exe (or whatever unique name you prefer).

    - Run the newly copied and renamed .EXE file, then exit back out to the Windows desktop after navigating through a few menus. A custom Mod Folder for your SF2I Extension Pack mod install will have been created in one of these locations:

    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\ThirdWire\[YourModFolder]
    Windows Vista: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[YourModFolder]
    Windows 7: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[YourModFolder]

    ...where [YourModFolder] matches the name of the copied .EXE file that you created. You will install the SF2I Extension Pack mod files to your Mod Folder.

    Now you're ready to install the SF2I Extension Pack mod proper.

    -------------------------------------------------
    * STEP 2: INSTALL MAIN COMPONENTS TO MOD FOLDER *
    -------------------------------------------------

    This is the easiest step.

    - Open your Mod Folder and delete the \Objects sub-directory (including everything in it).

    - Unpack the four SF2I Extension Pack archive packages you downloaded to a temporary location on your hard drive.

    * * * * *

    THAT'S IT. The SF2I Extension Pack mod should now be installed on your PC and ready to play.

    If you start the mod and it crashes or you don't see any new aircraft or campaigns, then you didn't install the mod properly. Aand that's exactly what I'm going to tell you if you post to the CombatAce forums and ask me if I have "any ideas?" as to what the problem is.

    A Note on the Included Campaigns
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition to Red-side versions of the three main SF2I campaigns (the 1967 War, the 1973 War, and the 1982 War), this mod adds campaigns for three minor "wars" that occurred between the major ones:
    630819 War for the Water
    670701 Attrition War
    740401 Golan Stalemate
    Although they do not qualify as full blown "wars," these extended periods of aerial skirmishes were nonetheless serious enough to merit attention, and this mod brings them to you courtesy of R. Lee "Banger" Sullivan, who created the first versions of these campaigns for "Wings Over Israel" (WOI).
    All three campaigns are low intensity conflicts that feature missions flown intermittently over an extended period of years, quite in contrast to the main campaigns which all cover short periods of time -- a week or a few weeks. Additionally, unlike the main campaigns, these new extended "conflicts" do not feature ground wars. These are exclusively aerial affairs.
    Please note that the 3rdWire campaign engine is not entirely suited to handling these types of extended, low intensity aerial conflicts, but we have done our best within the limits of that engine to give you a taste of these historical air clashes, which preceded the outbreak of major wars that grabbed newspaper headlines around the world.
    One final note: those looking for coverage of the 1948 and 1956 wars should download and install the "48-56" mod, which is available separately at CombatAce.com in two parts:
    Part 1:
    http://combatace.com/files/file/13756-48-56-exp-1-add-on-redux-part-1-of-2/
    Part 2:
    http://combatace.com/files/file/13757-48-56-exp-1-add-on-redux-part-2-of-2/
    The "48-56" mod requires its own Mods folder, and should not be combined with the SF2I Extension Pack.
    A Note on Anti-Ship Missiles
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    These versions utilize the new cruise missile functionality set by WeaponDataType=7.

    A Note on Laser-Guided Bombs (LGBs)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    AI pilots in Strike Fighters have long had problems employing LGBs. AI pilots in the player's flight can drop LGBs, but will treat them as dumb bombs. AI pilots in flights not controlled by the player (i.e., AI-only flights) cannot use LGBs at all, and will typically get stuck circling the target.
    To address this problem I have created EOGB versions of all LGBs for AI pilots to use (AI pilots have no problems with EOGBs for some reason). These AI versions are identical in all respects to the LGB versions save for the Guidance Type, which is set to "Electro-Optical Guided" instead of "Laser-Guided."
    By default aircraft that use LGBs for certain loadouts (usually Stike, Attack, SEAD, or Anti-Ship) are loaded with these AI (EOGB) versions instead of the LGB versions. You should make it a habit to check the Loadout screen and switch the bomb version on your own aircraft to the LGB version.
    You can distinguish between the AI (EOGB) and LGB (Player) versions by the weapon name -- for example:
    LGB version: GBU-12D/B Paveway II LGB
    AI version: GBU-12D/B Paveway II (AI)
    While this solution introduces an extra step for the player in the preparation to start a mission, it allows AI pilots and AI-only flights to use these weapons.
