+allenjb42 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Hope TK's got some Atlantic Fleet skins for the A-6 & A-7. N-tailcodes don't feel right in a North Atlantic scenario! Quote

Should be AJ for the Nimitz's 1970s-early '80s deployments. But what if the Enterprise was sent in to the Atlantic, from the Pacfleet? Her air wing would be NK or NH, and she did perform a circumnavigation in 1986. Quote
+daddyairplanes Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 besides stary many squadrons from RL are covered if you look in the squadronlist. and most of those have some form of tga, tho most are accurate for roughly the middle of Vietnam. i use the F4SQTail one as basis for later markings, making adjustments as needed. been toying with notion of SLUFs and Intruders after doing Phantoms though. hey final active deployments appear to be on Midway in early 86. who's to say...... Yeah, I know and I know that there are plenty of Atlantic Fleet squadrons in game already - it's just that the screenies were bugging me! IIRC in RSR there's a part where some Pac Fleet ships are sent through the Panama Canal into the Atlantic - to make up for losses in the Atlantic or to bolster the force to retake Iceland? I'm going to start re-reading it as soon as I've fininshed my current book! Quote
+PureBlue Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 (edited) Here's a quick guide for a few of the Soviet Anti-Ship/Cruise missiles: SF2-NA_Soviet_Bombers&Cruise_Missiles_Ref.Guide.pdf The missile flight profiles are pretty interesting. The screenshots show similar flight paths are simulated in game. The AS-4 Kitchen in particular is very deadly with speed reaching Mach 4+. Oh and I'm guessing the TU-95RT will be the Jamming platform for Soviets just like the Prowler for the US Navy. The variety of new systems TK is introducing is immense IMHO. +Coupi Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 ... Many thanks PureBlue!!! Waiting for this new SF2NA this is very hard... Coupi Quote
+daddyairplanes Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 TU-95RT was the recon and targeting plane that would pinpoint the fleet and direct the bombers. asked about it a few pages ago having missed the screenshots back towards the beginning. question is how to escort from the fleet in single mission w/o blasting mr bear to bits? would want to start an international incident ya know.... +Dels Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 (edited) There's one question I have which might provoke some discussion: What are all those ASMs the Tu-22s are firing targeted at? The obvious answer is: a "ship" of some sort somewhere in the distance. So my next question is: How was this "ship" targeted? If it is not the primary target was it visually? - Probably not because there's no ship in sight on those pictures and even if there were, the missiles still seem to be at a very high altitude and not descending. So was it by some other means...by radar? by command guidance? - Either of these would require new functionality in the sim. Dels P.S. I accept the possibility that I may have completely overlooked something, in which case please ignore this post. Edited February 14, 2012 by Dels Quote

(Actually I was fully expecting them in the game, until you just pointed out this little disturbing fact that they are Pac, too! ...If not in-game, their skins should be moddable rather easily, ...or? Anything - TMF? - already available?) Quote

VF-111 was deployed off the USS Carl Vinson on its world tour (circumnavigation) during the Autumn of 1983, so yes, they were technically in the Atlantic during the probable time frame of this next title. +JediMaster Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 You'll target the ship the same way you target everything else now. The instant you get in the cockpit you hit "E" and it says "enemy carrier". Or "runway". Or "goddamnevilcommsbuildingdottir." Quote
