5 pointsAnd let's put up some more updates for the FM tweaks in progress...the Macchi 200 and 202 done by A-Team for SF1 now fly well in SF2...have re-tweaked the old 202 as a series 1 Folgere, while the 202 posted above has been further split into approximations of a series 5 and series 9 of the Folgere, should be enough variety now for an early MTO install. Speaking of MTO installs, I was looking at the nice Spit V.a available at CombatAce and modified the data ini to fit a Mk.II...and it works well in an early MTO install (purists may prefer the tropical Mk.V with the sand filter for an MTO install but technically those fit better for a mid-war scenario in 1942 and later...so I went with a Mk.II instead, and the Mk.I has been re-tweaked for an ETO install)...will take a small break and then onto the MS. 406 and Curtiss variants...also want to include some two-engined types, so I will decide whether to do a small update pack first or maybe continue to expand it and upload the FM tweaks later once I've covered the types I'm using for my 1937-1941 install. Representative shots below of the latest tweaks...hair-raising adventure with Mk.II Spits and the Macchi 200, was out of ammo after the first dogfight so I eventually sawed off the second fellow's elevator with my prop...then chased him to a higher alt. to make him stall and fall into an unrecoverable spin...I then ran out of fuel (probably damage of some kind) and had to find a spot to land. SF2 is every bit as good for WW2 as FE2 is for WW1 in my opinion. Von S Chasing the fellow high after sawing his elevator off He ends up spinning, with no elevator, rudder, or ailerons to correct Looking for a spot to land the Spit Mk.II after the engine conked out or fuel ran out Landed close to what seems like an outhouse (appropriate after the extreme adventure)

4 pointsAn account of a combat between a F104 and a Chinese J-6 over Viet Nam The story is nice to read, but this part is very interesting: F102 to be used as "mini awacs" (or rather Air Traffic control) !

1 pointThe following story background is from DID's F-22 Total Air War game, dated 1998. The fictional skins are based on the F-22s appearing in DID's Total Air War scenarios. Skins and 3d model are still subject to updates. In the mid-1990s, most of the military might in the Red Sea region was found in only three countries; Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. All of the other nations, dealing with constant internal pressures and sporadic social unrest could ill afford any concentrated efforts at modern militarization. So the rest of the area’s nations would bide their time and wait for their opportunity to field a national army that could stand against the might of any one of the “big three.” Although there weren’t any formal declarations of war within the region, there were also no real alliances. Each nation was kept busy dealing with internal problems of various sorts, so much so that any external issues were usually left unresolved. Border disputes erupted from time to time and were usually settled as a result of some form of military stalemate with each side claiming to be the victor. An American F-22 wing forward deployed to Djibouti, still sporting the YF-22 paint scheme, 2007 Another factor within the region stemmed from the major cultural and religious differences between the peoples of the Red Sea area nations. The population in the southwestern part of the region was largely agrarian. Trading mostly foodstuffs and other essentials for survival, farming groups clustered into tribes and lay claim to several hundred acres of land. When arguments arose between neighboring tribes, the result was often bloodshed, as tribal land holdings sometimes crossed international borders. Cities and towns within the region were often defined by the religious beliefs of the residents. Rarely, were there populations of mixed beliefs. Only the largest trading and commerce centers could tolerate such religious diversity. Religious beliefs also played a major role in state and national rule, often affecting the decision making and negotiating thought processes of the country. American F-22s in their Pac West camouflage, executing an Air Interdiction mission over the Ethiopian highlands, 2018 With all of the diverse people and religious beliefs within the area, tension was an everyday side effect. Although no formal declarations of war had occured in the recent past, that did not mean that nations haven’t fostered ill will towards each other. Outright hostilities had not developed in the past because of the lack of either a credible military force or the capital required to support it. As a nation in the Red Sea area, you were either a “have” or a “have not” in the national forces department. But all of that was soon to change. New fortunes, created by the discovery of precious metals and oil reserves within the Red Sea operations area have lead to regional unrest. International power struggles for the control of these precious natural resources now bolster nationalism and strengthen each countries desire to fight. With the new regional income, formerly poor countries now can afford to train and equip national military forces. All armed forces within the region are ready and willing to test their newly purchased hardware. It is a very dangerous time. Saudi Arabia's F-22s, with their unusual Grey camouflage, crossing the "Empty Quarter" into Yemeni territory for a strike mission, 2022 While on an international antiquities excavation in southern Sudan, a professor and his archaeological team discovered unexpected oil reserves within that region. The oil deposits extended from within southern Sudan well into northern Ethiopia. Sudan and Ethiopia exploited the oil reserves and grew rich, becoming members of OPEC. The excitement over the discovery of new oil fields gave rise to new searches throughout the area for other oil reserves. Another series of large oil deposits were found in the coastal region of Eritrea, Djibouti and Somalia. Although not quite as expansive as the fields discovered in Sudan, it was sufficient to provide these three nations with a 11% control over the world’s petroleum market. As the oil reserves along the Somali coast were being mapped out, researchers stumbled upon new gold deposits. As the initial gold strikes were quickly exploited, more were found. There were some days when the coastal nations ceased to function because almost every citizen was out with a pickax and shovel, looking for their share of the fortune. The nations of Somalia, Djibouti and Eritrea became wealthy practically overnight. After much bargaining, Egypt acquired a few F-22s; here's one in its Woodland camouflage, conducting BARCAP over territorial waters in the Red Sea, 2015 To support the new military, the old infrastructure which had supported the former way of life had to be updated. Airfields had to be modernized to allow strategic and tactical aircraft operations. A large anti-aircraft network had to be established to provide warning and protection from invading hostile aircraft. National landmarks and governmental assets had to be protected from attack and reinforced to help repel any air strikes that might get through. Across all of the Red Sea theater area, nations prepared themselves for any outbreak of hostilities.

1 pointView File SF2 F-84F Thunderstreak by The Mirage Factory SF2 F-84F Thunderstreak by The Mirage Factory 5/12/2019 = For SF2, Full-5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = This is a rebuild for SF2 of The Mirage Factory's F-84F "Thunderstreak" (swept wing version). It goes again my grain to see such a well done aircraft, albeit originally built for SF/W0* 1st Gens, and many associated skin/decal set languish in obscurity simply due to age and the existence of one from 3rd Wire, albeit in a purchasable DLC. THIS one is free, and won't need any hoop-jumping to keep player flyable. I've scavanged most of the existing skin sets, did various tweaking to make them a bit more SF2 ready. The aircraft FM has been slightly adjusted for SF2, a destroyed model attached, decals randomized, and when necessary, decals and new skins created from the revised TMF Templates by Pappychksix. The templates are included in a separate named folder in this download. For those skins with painted on national markings, my patent pending "fake insigina decal" trick was used to activate the Nation Name displayed. The same trick, with my patent pending "fake SqTail" decal, now activates any and all squadrons that are listed in the stock 3W Squadronlist.ini. Reminder: the Squadronlist ini ONLY has full units, not, for example, the various Staffels of the BLW T-streaks. All new skin specific Hangar screens (SF2 style), and one of my famous "AvArt" style loading screens are included. All drop tanks, pilots, weapons and sounds needed are included (see Notes about camo tanks). The Canopy opens with the Standard Animaiton keystroke (shift/0 -shift/Zero). In this pack you have many skins. Most use the 'SF2 date switch' to go from Natural Metal to the End Users (TM) national camoflague finishes. Please note, some skins are in their original "as issued" bitmap format. Some have been rebuilt, or new builds, in jpg format. The skins supplied are: = USAF: 78th TFS, USAFE, RAF Bentwaters 168th FBS, Illinios Air National Guard (1961 Berlin Crisis) 4510th CCTS, Luke AFB (called 'USAF_Silver') = Belgian Air Force: 3rd Squadron (NM 1956) 2nd Squadron (NATO Camo) -switches on in 1958 = Netherlands KLU: 311 Sqn, KLU (Camo) -starts 1964, when F-84Fs were recieved = France: EC 1/1 Corse (1955-1960) -folder called "AdA"; NM. see notes. EC 3/1 Argone (1956 Suez and post-Suez, 1957-ish) = West German BLW: JaboG 31 2nd Sqn "Alma" (NM 1956) (new by me) JaboG 31 2nd Sqn "Alma" Camo JaboG 32 3rd Sqn Camo JaboG 33 3rd Sqn Camo JaboG 34 "Allgäu" 1st Sqn JaboG 35 *Note all except II/JBG 31 NM 56 are Camo, and start in 1962. All BLW skins/decals, except where noted are from Soulfreaks GAF Thunderstreak Pack* = Greek Hellenic Air Force: 348 Sqdn, HAF, NM (1958) 346 Sqdn, HAF, SEA Camo (1971) *Note: in between the NM and SEA, many HAF T-streaks carried NATO 2-tone. That skin is not supplied. See Notes.* Also included is a 'generic natural metal' for any other skinners that wish to fiddle with new skins. As many of the NATO 2-tone camo aircraft use all decals for markings, and the template is supplied, it should be easy to create other skins as needed. Even though the header reads "Full 5 Merged", it can be used in any SF2 mods folder. When in game, on the aircraft selection drop down menu, you'll see: F-84F ThunderStreak (TMF) This differentiates it from the stock 3rd Wire version. As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too. Where possible, I've included the original readme for the various skin sets; the original TMF aircraft readme is in the main aircraft folder. On behalf of my brother Mod Mafiosos... Good Hunting! Wrench Kevin Stein For bpao ... you are sorely missed UPDATED 5/16/2019: Data ini updated with Cliff7600's fuel tank fixes. 1 pointSomething is wrong with the fuel tanks : "SystemName[005]=FuselageFuelCel" and the name of the system is "FuselageFuelCell" I really didn't fix it by adding the missing "l", so i don't know what are the consequences... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What I did is modify the internal tanks : Main fuel tank capacity is 193 USgal Forward fuel tank capacity is 171 USgal and the wing tanks didn't have the same capacity between left and right, so to avoid instability issue I used 116 USgal for each The problem is to assign the fuel tanks to their respective component : "MainFuelCell" -> Fuselage "FwdFuelCell" -> Nose "LeftWingFuelCell" -> LeftOuterWing "RightWingFuelCell" -> RightOuterWing I renumbered all system names, especially Left wing / Right wing and LeftOuterWing / RightOuterWing If you want to try : [Fuselage] (...) 1 pointYes, it's available here: My way of doing skins for this bird is completely different from painting something on the template. The skin is mostly blank with basic colors. All the markings, tail arts etc. are added as decals, so that the first aircraft from the numbers list gets the CAG markings and the rest get the lo-viz. The only exception is the intake decal which is painted on the skin, so it won't change its color depending on the aircraft number. Making it as a decal causes the decal to appear inside the intake, which looks bad AF. The only thing that I personally don't like about this "decal method" is that the tail fins sometimes look weird (especially when they are completely covered with the decal) with no weathering on them. Maybe I'll try to sort it out by putting weathering on the decals, why not

1 pointNot my problem. This mod does not change stock nations, Dhimar and Paran exist as in the stock SF2 game, they are not flyable. If you want to fly for Paran and Dhimar, you'll have to make your modifications to it. This file is an extension of the stock _nations.ini, it does not remove anything.

1 pointContinuing with some FM tweaks for an early WW2 install...this time the A-Team Veltro data ini reworked as an early Macchi 202, with 12 and 7 mm machine guns. Lightened up the camo a bit for myself and took her for a test...can use the vertical very effectively in this fighter...also sometimes displays a tendency towards nasty spins but overall very nice against Mk.1 Hurricanes if you aren't rough on the stick. I'm enjoying this one very much...next up the MS. 406 and to get to the P-39 and early P-40 Curtiss variants...I've never checked out a more enjoyable WW2 install than in SF2...very nice stuff. Von S Up close and personal with the Hurries A lighter skin...tweaks done in Paint3D Got a few on the ground I was out of ammo. here but I think one of the AA guns exploded while I buzzed over it Back at base
