  1. Well, that is one solution :) When did you start noticing the problem? Right after you installed Opera the first time or sometime after that? Did you try reinstalling Opera to see if the problem comes back?
  2. How comfortable are you trying regedit? If you search for FileExts you should come across the file type and associated programs. I am thinking you will find a .exe type tied to Opera. You could try deleting that registry key. You may need to press PF3 to find additional occurrences of FileExts. I don't run Vista so I am not sure how to bring up a command prompt and type regedit. If you google fileexts you will find a number of articles on the registry key and its use.

    Two Decades

Yup. I joined November 11, 2004. Real life has had an effect on how often I visit and how much support I can give but CA has been a solid part of my simming life for a long time. Keep up the good work.
  4. Thanks to all who contributed to this project! One of the most complete and professional mods I have ever seen for SF2.
  5. ^Good points about the UH-1H. Another plus for DCS is they have true helicopter flight models.
  6. I have a real love/hate relationship with DCS. My absolute biggest issue with the product is the DRM. I am old fashioned. I don't like any GAMING software that requires an internet connection to function. You cannot beat DCS aircraft for visual and flight model accuracy. That being said, you will be paying for it. They do have some very good sales throughout the year so that helps with the overall cost of running the sim. There are some freeware mods out there but I have noticed that DCS will lock down some of the flight model functions to limit the accuracy of the FMs for those freeware mods. DCS looks great but it is a pig in terms of resources. You need a beefy rig to run it at even medium-high settings. YMMV. Lots and lots of preferences. I don't do DCS multiplayer so I can't really speak to that. SF2 is tons easier to mod. SF2 has a lot more freeware addons. I am sure there are other folks who can chime in with some opinions. I will say my personal go-to sim is SF2.
  7. Is this a completely stock install (no mods)? What graphics card do you use?
  8. Nice idea! Thank you for sharing.
  9. If you are a boardgamer and have not visited Armchair Dragoons, please stop by and say "hello". I'm not much of a boardgamer myself but it is as good a community as we have here at CA but with a definite focus on boardgaming. https://www.armchairdragoons.com/
  10. It is right here................... Agree with all. Every serious SF2 player/modder should have this toolkit. Mue rocks!!
  11. ^Good post. You can get IL-2 cheap at GOG as well. I think they used to have a number of patch levels available so it made it easy to get the version you need for BAT.
  12. gog.com currently (7/29/2021) has EECH and EEAH on sale for $1.19US. There are comments about EECH not being a "real" simulator. Probably a DCS snob. :) I consider EECH just as much of a "simulator" as SF2. Not perfect but a hell of a lot of fun. gog.com also has HIND which is a much older Mi-24 sim. The graphic are dated but usable and it has one of the best "realistic" FMs I think I've ever seen. You will need all of your wits about you to fly that beast. Good luck on your sim search!
  13. It is quite a bit different than SF2 in terms of gameplay. My point is that for $6 you can give it a shot and if you don't like it you haven't lost a lot. For that matter, games go on sale frequently at gog.com and you may be able pick it up for less than retail. I am not trying to sell you anything. It is well known that SF2 really does not support helicopters and even the best helo flight models are still tweaks of fixed wing FMs. Up to you.
  14. If you really want to fly the MI-24 I would highly recommend getting a copy of Enemy Engaged – Comanche vs. Hokum at gog.com for 6 bucks and then go get the mods available at http://eechcentral.simhq.com/ EECH is a true helicopter simulation and the mods have done a fantastic job of bring it up to date for modern hardware. The MI-24 is one of the jewels of the mod.
  15. Understood. Fair point.
  16. Actually they did do X-Wing Alliance. Scroll down on the page. https://www.xwaupgrade.com/index.php
  17. You guys do great work. I wish I could provide more than simply moral support. Good luck on your talent search!
  18. Reminds me of the Viper from Battlestar Galactica. Ok....................but where does the fuel go???????
  19. Interesting. Downloading the demo now. Nice to see the potential for a competitor to Steel Beasts.
  20. Your work is very good and very much appreciated. Thank you!!
  21. I have had issues transferring the EXECUTABLES between systems but never the contents of the mods folders. So I almost always do a clean install of the SF2 program folders and then copy the mods folders, update my options.ini files for the various mods and off I go. I always have a separate backup of all my mod folders. External drives are your friend.
  22. I am not entirely sure I understand your question but let's try this... Any windows shortcut can have it's icon changed via the "Properties" tab available when you right-click on the shortcut. You can click Browse and navigate to a folder containing a different icon. You can even "borrow" an icon from a different exe. If that's what you are talking about we can go into more detail...
  23. That's really nice. Well done!
  24. Thank you, thank you, thank you.......................... .............for having a Quick Combat option....... I never understood why that was not available in WOFFBHH1. The campaigns are great but, yes, sometimes I just want to jump in a plane and go fly. Having a blast so far..... Well done!
  25. No worries. Thanks.
