I understand, Erik. Thank you for taking the time to explain. Curious to know what effect using blocking tools like Nightshade's suggestions has on Google's feedback on the CA ad usage.

I have continually reported ads and it seems to no avail. Honestly the ones that burn me are the "Would you vote for Trump a third time?" ones. :) I have NO idea how I would be tagged for those by Google. I will see what I can do on my end. This site is WAY too valuable to me to get put off by something outside the admins control. (I am due for a re-up of my subscription but I need to get past some real life issues first.) Thanks for the prompt responses. I do appreciate it.

I've been a long time supporter here. Is there a subscription level that removes the progressively move NSFW ads that seem to accumulate on the site? I get it. It costs money to run the place. But I really need to ask the question. I'm not sure I would let my kids browse here. I love what you guys do but I don't seem to remember this problem with ads from years past. Thanks.

I have been a supporter for about a year now and I am looking forward to the finished product. The fact that Steel Beasts is the only modern tank sim available these days is depressing. It is overpriced, overblown and nothing I want to get involved with. I am planning to renew my support and stick with the project until complete. Supporters do get a more full featured demo and the updates have been coming out at a nice pace.

Downloaded. Weekend plans made.

I'll be right back. I need to clean up my drool.

I had problems getting older versions of Control Manager to run on Win10. I seem to have resolved that and have never had an issue beyond that. I would look at MigBuster's advice on doing a fresh remap. Start with one of your more popular maps and go from there. Does it seem to be ALL the keys getting messed up or is it a select few? Do you have the latest, greatest version of CH Control Manager?

Is it worth trying to sell my Warthog HOTAS here?
DoctorQuest replied to Chugster's topic in The Pub
At this point probably not, thank you. I do appreciate all the information and it does look like a good piece of gear but real life is telling to take a pass on this right now. -

Ok. I'll bite. What do you want for it? Will you pay shipping? How many hours of gameplay has it seen? How long have you had it? -
How comfortable are you trying regedit? If you search for FileExts you should come across the file type and associated programs. I am thinking you will find a .exe type tied to Opera. You could try deleting that registry key. You may need to press PF3 to find additional occurrences of FileExts. I don't run Vista so I am not sure how to bring up a command prompt and type regedit. If you google fileexts you will find a number of articles on the registry key and its use.

Yup. I joined November 11, 2004. Real life has had an effect on how often I visit and how much support I can give but CA has been a solid part of my simming life for a long time. Keep up the good work.

Thanks to all who contributed to this project! One of the most complete and professional mods I have ever seen for SF2.

DCS Questions

^Good points about the UH-1H. Another plus for DCS is they have true helicopter flight models. -
DCS Questions
DoctorQuest replied to FalconC45's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
I have a real love/hate relationship with DCS. My absolute biggest issue with the product is the DRM. I am old fashioned. I don't like any GAMING software that requires an internet connection to function. You cannot beat DCS aircraft for visual and flight model accuracy. That being said, you will be paying for it. They do have some very good sales throughout the year so that helps with the overall cost of running the sim. There are some freeware mods out there but I have noticed that DCS will lock down some of the flight model functions to limit the accuracy of the FMs for those freeware mods. DCS looks great but it is a pig in terms of resources. You need a beefy rig to run it at even medium-high settings. YMMV. Lots and lots of preferences. I don't do DCS multiplayer so I can't really speak to that. SF2 is tons easier to mod. SF2 has a lot more freeware addons. I am sure there are other folks who can chime in with some opinions. I will say my personal go-to sim is SF2. -
How to fix this
DoctorQuest replied to Bravo_7_destory's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Is this a completely stock install (no mods)? What graphics card do you use? -
If you are a boardgamer and have not visited Armchair Dragoons, please stop by and say "hello". I'm not much of a boardgamer myself but it is as good a community as we have here at CA but with a definite focus on boardgaming. https://www.armchairdragoons.com/

Mi 24 mod..
DoctorQuest replied to m275500's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
^Good post. You can get IL-2 cheap at GOG as well. I think they used to have a number of patch levels available so it made it easy to get the version you need for BAT. -
Mi 24 mod..
DoctorQuest replied to m275500's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
gog.com currently (7/29/2021) has EECH and EEAH on sale for $1.19US. There are comments about EECH not being a "real" simulator. Probably a DCS snob. :) I consider EECH just as much of a "simulator" as SF2. Not perfect but a hell of a lot of fun. gog.com also has HIND which is a much older Mi-24 sim. The graphic are dated but usable and it has one of the best "realistic" FMs I think I've ever seen. You will need all of your wits about you to fly that beast. Good luck on your sim search!
