The tiling of Energodar Nuclear Powerplant is nearly finished. There are still some refinements neccessary. And of course the change from jpg to tga format for coastline tiles. So it looks in game at the moment: Flightpath from East to West. Placed target objects are at the moment the 6 reactor buildings and some big warehouses as placeholders for big generator buildings and last but not least the 2 cooling towers. Its still a long way till Energodar will be finished. To comparision, so Energodar town and nuclear plant looks in reality:- 813 replies

You mean something like this: Its a first experimental tile for one of the iron mines near Kriwoi Rog. It should be twice as big as i have done it so far. With TFD editor i have lowered the terrain under the mine and formed a "hole" which is more than 100 m deep. At the screenshots it is not very good to see. Perhaps on the last one a little bit better. On the left side is a spoil dump, on the tight side the "hole" of the mine. -

Some progress with Energodar. It looks better now. Its not perfect, but better. The missing waves on the water are there, because the tiles are still jpg and not tga. Still WIP. -

Fly over Energodar Nuclear Powerplant. Still work in progress. It is still a lot to do. Water tiles are in JPG instead TGA. Some more tiles in the east are to made and then the blendig to existing tiles must made. If Energogar is done, i think i will make some tiles for the big iron mines of Kriwoi Rog. Ther are really big holes in the earth. -
View File Chinese Carrier Liaoning Aircraft Carrier "Liaoning" ex Varjag ex Kremlin Class ***************************************************** This mod is made for SF2. ---------------------------------------------------------- I. History Since the 50th the Soviet Navy tried to get aircraft carriers. But the political leadership denied all attempts to build such vessels. So the Admirality tried to get carriers through the back door. They declared such ships would be neccessary to hunt down american submarines. So the big ASW ships Moskva and Leningrad were built. But the design was terrible. Thatswhy the project 1143 was developed, better known as Kiev class. The Kiev class was to small to operate conventional fix wing jets. So the ships were equipped with VTOL planes, the Yak-38. But this plane was no match for american or west european carrierbased planes. Thatswhy the flightdeck of project 1143.4 was made longer. The ship was named Baku. It was built for the supersonic Yak-41. A plan-B was to use the MiG-29K in the air group of the Baku. The next step was to make the project 1143 ships bigger and longer. 1143.5 was launched in 1982. First named as Riga, then Breshnev, then Tblissi and in 1990 renamed into Kuznetsov. When the USSR broke into parts the Kuznetsov was transfered to the russian North Fleet. The sister ship 1143.6, Riga was renamed in 1990 into Varjag (Viking). It was not operational when it was was given to the Ukraine. The Ukraine had not had enough money to finish the ship. Thatswhy it was sold to China. China finished the ship, modified it and named it Liaoning. A second carrier of the same typ the Chinese built under the name Shandong. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- II. At the moments i'm making rivers and roads on the map. So the area west of the river Dnepr looks now in editor tool. New are the rivers Southern Bug, Ingulez, the Dnepr Delta, the canal from town Kriwoi Rog to the Dnepr reservoir. (Still WIP) Towns of Cherson, Kriwoi Rog and Nikopol placed on the map or relocated. Nikolajew and Energodar with the nuclear powerplant will come next.- 813 replies

So the marking of the airfields at night now looks so: Two red light beacons, made by Yakarow, each placed 1.000 meters away from runway. -

Yakarow made the RSBN beacon for my terrain. RSBN was the soviet version of TACAN navigation system. German MiG-29 pilots, who had flow for LSK and Bundesluftwaffe said, that RSBN was more accurate. -

SAM booster release time

The real data for Strela 2 booster are: duration of the booster 0.5 seconds, duration of the sustainer 2.0 seconds. But there is also "start booster". I dont know the correct english term. We call it in german "Ausstoßladung". It pushes the missile out of the container. This needs 0.3 seconds. At a distance of 5 meters from launcher the booster starts to operate. -

Tower check at Saki Air Base. This tower building was made by Yakarow. It is part of the NITKA system for training of carrier pilots. -
