This Day in History Screenshot Thread

23 August 1954, the YC-130A took off for the first time. This has started a production run still going 63 years later and a machine that will be in service 100 years past that first flight. -
some guy i know. tolerable skilled at skinning...... and yes my aim appears to be off. ya get rusty when you dont go to a range (or practice your geography) in a while. will raise a few mils and try again in the morning

i know, and your screenshots (even early wip) never disappoint. the previous teasing was directed more towards south america than europe. that said i recall being on a forever project myself....

not to thread hijack but while talking about missing members is veltro2k doing ok? i remember he was having some issues bout modding, bout still miss hearin from him even if he's done modding
-
baffmeister for the win. i have noticed this often, esp on the stock airfields such as keflavik (many times of DC-8-60s doing unnatural acts). 3rd party usually does not have this issue, i think because modders are thinking of jumbos such as the C-5 and the BUFF. note the word in italics however

Canadian Hercules Coming
daddyairplanes replied to 1977Frenchie's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
are there any level 1 entries (unit) in that skins decal ini? i remember hgbn doing something with a blank decal and entry to call up nations, but its been awhile. was to fix a very similar problem tho and i suspect if a level isnt at least called in the ini, it wont show in the drop down iirc hgbns fix was a decal ini entry and tiny blank tga to address issues when folks put teh national markings directly on teh skin and therefore had no level 0 decals for refresher decal level 0 nations (or needed to show all the time) , level 1 units(specific to individual unit), level 2 serial numbers (or specific to inidvidual planes like nose art), level 3 kill marking. -

would you mind showing the entries? its can often be a very simple but subtle error that ones own eyes miss but others catch -

looks good! a question, is that white over grey (or corrogard) or white over natural metal? -
Is there a max limit of entries in the XXX_Types.ini files?
daddyairplanes replied to NIELS's topic in General Discussion
dont know about the types ini, but i have taken the squadronlist.ini up to 2999 with ill no effects. to test make 1000 blank (only the header, no info lines below) then make a 1001 entry of your choice for GP info, i took the squadronlist up that high to set aside blocks for different nations or types of units (South Vietnamese AF, USAF Fighter Interceptor Squadrons etc). that might help you in organizing what you have going on edit: you might want to try that with the targets as well -
great shots, but the first KC-10 is marcfighters iirc, not v2k. i can not recall who made the skin...... also reminds me gotta get crackin on teh 747-100/200s. (sigh...)

well joe baugher will tell you who an a/c was lost with or last served, not so good for aircraft history thru lifetime i know of 3 Wings that flew the G model (3d at Clark, 52d at Spang, and 35th/37th George AFB; last went a name only change sometime in 80s) plus the Fighter Weapons School at Nellis and Idaho ANG. between them one can pin some down although again it would be time consuming. i would go about it a search for each "xxxth TFS F-4G" and see what hits you get for each era. also iirc the two foward deployed wings started with Weasels in one squadron, then spread them later to create a whole wing of hunter killer weasel teams. yes i know im not making that any easier for you! edit : Blade posted before me, wow on what you posted sir

unless you have photos to show otherwise, i would have the decal in game doubled up, but the drop down with 4 numbers as you discussed. however you may want to look up those doubled serials, sometimes the whole number was used and depending on the number sometimes it was incorporated into a Wing King marking with certain numbers emphasized. also i suggest skin and individual decal folder by squadron, esp with a small a population as the G model (wouldnt suggest this for the E!). unit marking can still be a 2 level, just have a default and one for the fancy boss bird. plug in what known serials you have per skin, guestimate based on historical info on the rest. but thats my two cents

a two fer today.... 23 July 1970: the first rollout of the DC-10 airliner at the McDonnell Douglas Plant in Long Beach. After testing was completed the first aircraft went on to fly for over twenty years with American Airlines, before being converted to MD-10 standard then serving another few years with FedEx before being scrapped in 2002 23 July 1983: due to issues with fuel calculations, Air Canada Flight 143 runs out of fuel over Ottawa and had to make an emergency engine out landing in a Boeing 767-100 at Gimli Motorsports Park (formerly RCAF Station Gimli). Due to both engines stopping, the aircraft lost all electrical and hydraulic power, and glided silently to a landing at the former airbase. -
as to the move, from what i read Florida tends to allow it when family lives there, and a spokesman basically said if there is not defineable reason to deny him they have to allow him. and while i may disagree with the tone of the innocent statement (unless i mesread ya CH), i do agree with the fact that he was found not guilty. 2007 was some court system thinking they were "setting it right" he'll probably be able ot live pretty quiet once he gets settled if he keeps his head down rather hitting the interview circuit. worlds moved on even over the last 10 years

looking for them in the DL section but cant find them in Gen1 or 2, or in the add on aircraft. anybody out there have a set they wouldnt mind sharing? for those interested, looking to hit the JSTARS for DS, then some shamu tankers(or even mixed skin), rounding back to some airliners. fortuneately the model is fairly well the same across the versions (or at least teh skin is for all teh 707 like aircraft on site currently) TIA for any assistance you all can give
