Unless some one tests it against a flight model chart - or an ex A-7 driver is about to comment then go with the ones you prefer is my advice -
F-16I Sufa makes emergency landing
MigBuster replied to Nesher's topic in Military and General Aviation
Looks like a smooth landing if that's without the engine - even has time to hold it above the runway for a bit. -
Difficult to say really because I suspect the infrastructure of the Iraqi Air Force was totally dismantled in 03 so they may be starting from scratch again - in which case it doesn't matter which way they go. However why buy Russian - the airframes are comparable in performance (inferior in some aspects / better in others) to the F-15A/16A which they were designed to compete against - but where it counts in the avionics and technology they are so far behind the argument is mute. Lucky for the Aussies you are not in charge then - do you know the difference between a 5th gen fighter and a (Claimed) 4++ gen one?. And please - I really don't want to see any links to Karlo Kopps laughable material. You do realise the Russian economy has been in a pretty bad way since the collapse of the USSR so im not sure why you think they stood a chance of keeping up with the US R+D budget Being able to out turn another jet is fine if it can - but good luck out turning a modern missile. Well that assumes you know which model the Iraqis would be getting. F-16As to Block 15 are pretty old hat unless they have the MLU on them in which case they are equal to a block 50s. If LM ship them Block 60 equivalents they have something that can beat anything - a 5th gen fighter should kick its A though.

Fire Fire Fire on the Flight Deck!
MigBuster replied to Typhoid's topic in Military and General Aviation
oops - that looks like it might need a new wing or 2....or a new plane even -
You need to use the correct Weapons Pack - with the correct weapons editor for the version of the game you have. For Oct 2008 WOE the weapons editor was dated v022008 http://www.thirdwire.com/downloads_tools.htm My advice is - Dont install the pack directly into your game - install it to an empty folder on your desktop - then copy the weapons folder into your game only.

Last Australia Vietnam MIA return By Nick Bryant BBC News, Sydney The remains of the last two Australian servicemen missing in action from the war in Vietnam have been returned to their homeland. The remains of Flying Officer Michael Herbert and Pilot Officer Robert Carver were found last month. They were found at a remote jungle site near the border with Laos where their bomber crashed 39 years ago. They were honoured with a military ceremony at an airfield on the outskirts of Sydney. Night raid A military band was on hand, and so, too, an honour guard, as the remains of the two airmen were carried from the plane in flag-draped coffins. With this brief ceremony a chapter in Australian military history came to a close. Flying Officer Michael Herbert and Pilot Officer Robert Carver were both aged 24 when their Canberra bomber went missing after a night-time raid over central Vietnam in November 1970. Last April, the wreckage of the bomber was found in remote jungle near the border with Laos, after a search conducted by an Australian army history unit. Three months later the remains of the airmen were found, and then identified by Australian and Vietnamese forensic specialists. Official interest in finding and repatriating Australia's missing war dead was revived in 2007 after a veterans' organisation found the bodies of two soldiers. Another soldier was found that year, with a fourth found last year. Now all the bodies have been retrieved and repatriated. The United States still has nearly 1,800 servicemen unaccounted for throughout Southeast Asia, with some 1,300 in Vietnam alone. from http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/8230023.stm

Note the line that 2 of the MiGs are ready - after 20 years!! Iraq seeks Serbian return of MiGs The Iraqi authorities say they are negotiating the return of 19 fighter jets which were sent to the former Yugoslavia in the 1980s for repairs. A defence ministry delegation has gone to Belgrade to discuss bringing the MiG-21s and 23s back into service. A spokesman said the aircraft, whose existence had recently come to light, would be an important addition to Iraq's defence capability. Two of the MiGs were ready for immediate use, a statement said. The statement did not specify how the discovery was made or what condition the other 17 aircraft were in. At the moment Iraq's air force has no jet fighters, only helicopters, and it had been planning to buy 18 F-16 fighters from the US manufacturer Lockheed Martin. It is not known if the discovery of the MiGs will change that. Sanctions and flying restrictions were imposed on Iraq following its 1990 invasion of Kuwait, after which Saddam Hussein's government was unable to repatriate military equipment located abroad. After his government's overthrow in 2003, the Iraqi state collapsed and its army was disbanded by Iraq's US-led occupiers. Baghdad has struggled to rebuild its military capability since then. The Iraqi defence ministry spokesman said four Iraqi navy vessels had also been discovered in Egypt and Italy, as well as "aircraft and equipment in Russia and France". Saddam Hussein co-operated closely with the communist-ruled Yugoslav government and its Serbian successor, led by Slobodan Milosevic. Serbia's defence minister visited Iraq earlier in August and Belgrade has recently signed deals to export hundreds of millions of dollars worth of military equipment to Iraq. weapons folder
MigBuster replied to kingwael's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Check the weapon service dates and make sure you have put the .lod and .bmp files into the "weapons" folder for the weapons. if they are still not there check section 23 here - ignore the bit about getting the SF2 weps editor - it applies to the one you already have. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php/topic/44026-converting-older-planes-to-work-in-sf2-a-basic-guide-by-migbuster/ -

Ive never seen any actual take off figures for the jets they all differ - but then again the flight models have changed a lot over the years - and it depends what weps load you are carrying also due to the weight. Ideally get airbourne before the wheels fall off - if you dont know where this point is practise taking off in the jet before using it in a campaign. WIth the Harrier for example you can roll to about 50 kts and then vector the nozzles to get airbourne. some jets need 200kts or more. And the figures may change in the future with other changes.
