Situation: Unknown bogeys are entering the area and are heading towards the fleet. Presumed hostile, VF-31 Tomcatters has been dispatched to eliminate the threat..

 

Olds Lead, you are cleared for takeoff.

 

This is Olds Lead, radar contact, 19nm, 341 knots airspeed. I count four bogeys on radar.

 

Bogeys are making aggressive approach. They're on my nose now. Inside ten miles. Fox 2.

One F-4 Phantom confirmed down.

 

2nd bogey is on my nose at 2.3nm, ive got lock. Fox 2 again.

Scratch two!

Ive got visual contact on 3rd bogey.

Ive got radar lock. Fox one.

 

Confirmed kill on 3rd bogey.

Fourth bogey is locked. Fox 3!

 

4 phantoms down. Lets head back to the carrier.

Olds lead within 3 quarters of a mile, call the ball. Roger, Jester has the ball. 3 quarters of a mile.

Touchdown.

Had this bogey locked up at approximately 19nm, called fox 3, and released an AIM-54 Sealed Phoenix at this F4 Phantom. Target was splashed. Two other bogeys in the area at the time of the incident bugged out.
