  1. nice photo bird. but where's your nukes? Vietnam wasnt the end of the story though. not even close this was the end at Shaw, 1989
  2. i see 29, but other eyes and screens may see different. that one is a b... of a pic and the Marines would carry them in Nam, but they also ran a much different mission than the Navy at the time. frankly, im surprised theres tanks on the one in your pic rather than more ordinance
  3. quite abit of the YAP original never impressed me either (i've come by pieces over the years). their 707 skins vs my new at that time 707 tga skins actually planted the idea in my head that i might know what im doing for me, like DAT, its not the stuff commonly available here but the uncommon stuff (F-100F most immedieatly comes to mind) if it is freely available, and enough interest in it takes off, im sure folks will get to tinkering and improving it (like we do everything else!)
  4. todays update: the RW team has purchased the domain name for the new RW centric site. the page that is on YAPs original page will change to mention their work and link to the new page. two weeks but hopefully summer time fast rather than December and youre 6 slow the post is in the group, but it is a private group so i wont share the post itself at this time. my two cents: look at the medical research that came out of Japan and Germany in the early 1940s. Alot of our modern knowledge of how humans handle exposure to various things comes from that research, and has helped to develop gear that protects pilots/astronauts and many other professions. But it most defineatley was not ethically researched. for those that havent keyed in yet, im talking Mengele and Unit 731 type research. Extremely bad that it was done, but the winning Allies still gathered up the data at war's end and put it to use. yea, that is a much more extreme example. YAP original was just making money while doing the shady things (cutting files not people). YAP-RW has to date pledged to share their work for free. the only money theyve asked for to date is donations to get a site up and running. Not much different than the annual subscription drives here So, ethically sourced? maybe not. Is someone making money off of it? not anymore that we know of. DOES this bring a lot of things into the freeware light like two seat Huns? yes it does and if somebody see work of theirs in there and states they want it removed, the RW team will do so (with a minimum of prof of course). Its already happened at least once that i know of, so there is that if someone finds an issue.
  5. back up whats going on with WTR?
  6. are you in the group? and if not do you want an invite? its private but they havent been too piccky lets say not as open as here but way way less restrictive than DAT
  7. yes as well as they are doing some fine tuning of both site and the mods prior to going live. not a bad idea really do be prepared when you go to get it, last i checked it was about 15-16 GB install. thats after alot of trimming down; the Aircraft folder alone was 15 GB when they started, and the decals another dozen. its better now but still pretty damn big
  8. its a private group atm. but im trying to get an admin of the group to update here
  9. change 23: new site is still a work in progress, it will be a few weeks until it is ready.
  10. well, nothings totally free you can only post so big a file on FB, or allow so many people to access a Google drive. at som point you gotta have a site and no amount of likes, non monetary fan support or best wishes pays for that. are you a member of the group on FB?
  11. gents it is awesome, and once we get "how" straightened out i do reccomend getting it. and like EricJ said, im not into Vietnam too much, almost all of my focus traditionally being post Nam ('75) to Allied Force (Kosovo '99)
  12. i agree they are doing good things, and strive to properly credit (and have even removed things when someone objects). but i do see the other side that a large portion of there work is derived from YAP itself, as is even evident in the title. that is still enough to leave a bad taste in the mouths of some folks. for the record, i have helped them to some degree, mostly working on trimming down their file sizes (moving from bmp to jpg, removing duplicates and unneccesary files). so long as they maintain it as free use, i have no problem with them myself also of note i posted on their page requesting they update the new homepage status (last check they were seeking donations to get a page up and running) and clarify how to get it in the meantime
  13. one is an image, while the other is just the word. although for future comparisons of that type, you may want to do both images in the same post meanwhile, y'all didn think i was leaving Shaw without some boss birds did you?
  14. "Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your Captain speaking, we've arrived over our destination, where the temperature is currently a balmy million degrees. feel free to put on sunglasses and seatbelts, because HQ not only wants us to cook tonight, but they want us to record the crowd reaction afterwards..."
