Top Gun A-4F 'Super Fox' for Strike Fighters 2
UPDATED 27/01/11
- Correct angled refueling probe added along with a landing light thanks to wilco's mods to my A-4N
- minor data.ini updates
- Opening canopy 'shift' + '0'
This is the modified A-4 Super F used as an Aggressor aircraft by the US Navy Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun) from 74 till 94. The Super F (Super Fox) was the ultimate adversary Skyhawk as it was equipped with updated J52-P-408 engine giving 11,200 pounds of thrust.
The Super Fox also had its avionics hump and associated equipment stripped reducing its weight and giving it an impressive better than 1:1 thrust-to-weight ratio.
Other modifications included the wing slats being bolted closed and removal of the cannons. However for the game I have kept the cannons and increased the rounds to 200 per gun (same as the A-4M) to give you a bit more dog fighting time :)
I have retained the countermeasure dispensers as I couldn’t find any information indicating they were removed but with no ECM or RWR I would advise you to avoid being engaged at beyond visual range haha.
Included with this aircraft is a Top Gun instuctor pilot skin.
Best way to enjoy this bird is to set up a guns only dogfight with the mission editor and go head to head with a few Tomcats.
INSTILATION: Drop files in to appropriate folders, override when asked to.
NOTE: Has only been tested/used in a merged install of ALL SF2 titles
Credit goes to column5 for their A-4E Super Echo which gave me the idea and provided a base for the skin.

Please read update below if you have installed Jan 2011 Patch, Update......
A fictional skin for ThirdWire’s SF2 F-4M so you have to have ThirdWire’s SF2 F-4M in game or it will not work.
Just copy into your F-4M folder, stock folder, will only work in ThirdWire's F-4M Folder. Uses stock lods, decals and weapons by Thirdwire.
Thank You to TK and Thirdwire for the games.
To CombatAce for a place to upload and download files.
Warning, again if you do not have ThirdWire's SF2 series games with an F-4M, the skin will not work.
James Fox.
21/01/2011 Update;
---------------------------
Warning,
If you have not patched to Jan 2011 and do not have a game with Thirdwires F-4M, or you have not downloaded my skin, then this will not work and you do not need to do this.
This is a fix-up for my RAF Desert skin. All you have to do is copy and paste this F-4M folder into you Thirdwire Aircraft folder. It will prompt to overwrite, let it, it should not effect anything but correct a folder naming conflict.
Thirdwire has released a new skin of their own to the F-4M folder with the Jan 2011 Patch which has the same name as my Desert skin. So I have renamed my Desert skin and included the correction to add Thirdwires new skin as it should be.
Skin Folders should look like this when you are done;
DESERT
RAFCAMO1
RAFCAMO2
Plus the F-4M configuration file which I have also corrected to correct my error.
Sorry for the inconvenience but I should have known better and not followed Thirdwires naming conventions.
PS, I have included a little decals edit which allows stock serial numbers to be shown on Thirdwire F-4M models fuselage only.
For some reason Thirdwire has not included them on the fuselage, they are only on the underside of the wings.
Thanks to TK, Thirdwire and CombatAce.
James Fox.

F-14A_82 VF-32 Swordsmen Skin by Dave
On the morning of January 4, 1989, the Kennedy battle group was operating some 130 km north of Libya, with a group of A-6 Intruders on exercise south of Crete, escorted by two pairs of F-14As from VF-14 and VF-32, and as well as an E-2C from VAW-126. Later that morning the southernmost Combat Air Patrol station was taken by two F-14s from VF-32, AC207 (CDR Joseph Bernard Connelly/CDR Leo F. Enwright 159610 AC207) and AC202 (LT Hermon C. Cook III/LCDR Steven Patrick Collins 159437 AC202). The officers had been specially briefed for this mission due to the high tensions regarding the Carrier Group's presence; the pilots were advised to expect some kind of hostilities.
At 11:50 hrs, after some time on patrol, the E-2 informed the F-14 crews that four Libyan MiG-23s had taken off from Al Bumbaw airfield, near Tobruk. The F-14s turned towards the first two MiG-23s some 50 km ahead of the rear pair and acquired them with radars. At the time the Floggers were 72 nautical miles (133 km) away at 10,000 ft (3,000 m) and heading directly towards the Tomcats and carrier. The F-14s turned away from the head-on approach to indicate that they didn't want to engage. The Floggers changed course to intercept at a closing speed of about 870 knots (1,000 mph, 1600 km/h). The F-14s descended to 3,000 ft (910 m) to give them a clear radar picture of the Floggers against the sky and leave the Floggers with sea clutter to contend with. Four more times the F-14s repeated this maneuver, still tracking the Libyans. At 11:59 the Radar Intercept Officer (RIO) of the lead Tomcat ordered the arming of the AIM-9 Sidewinder and AIM-7 Sparrow missiles it was carrying. The E-2C had given the F-14 crews authority to fire if threatened; the F-14 crews did not have to wait until after the Libyans opened fire.
At almost 12:01 the lead Tomcat RIO said that "Bogeys have jinked back at me again for the fifth time. They're on my nose now, inside of 20 miles", followed shortly by "Master arm on" as he ordered arming of the weapons. At a range of 14 nmi (26 km) the RIO of the lead F-14A fired the first AIM-7M Sparrow; he surprised his pilot, who did not expect to see a missile accelerate away from his Tomcat. The RIO reported "Fox 1. Fox 1." The Sparrow failed to track because of a wrong switch-setting. At 10 nmi (19 km), he launched a second Sparrow missile, but it also failed to track its target.
The Floggers accelerated and continued to approach. At 6 nmi (11 km) range the Tomcats split and the Floggers followed the wingman while the lead Tomcat circled to get a tail angle on them. The wingman engaged with a Sparrow and downed one of the Libyan aircraft. One of the US pilots broadcast "Good kill! Good kill!" The lead Tomcat closed on the final Flogger from the rear quadrant and at 1.5 nmi (2.8 km) the pilot fired a Sidewinder, which hit its target. One crewman broadcast "Good kill!" and "Let's get out of here." The Libyan pilots were seen to successfully eject and parachute into the sea, but the Libyan Air Force was unable to recover them. The Tomcats then proceeded north to return to the carrier.

Royal New Zealand Airforce Vampire Skins for No. 75 Squadron
For use with the stock Vampire52
You will need to make the Vampire52 flyable by downloading and installing the following cockpit: http://combatace.com/files/file/11098-vampire-cockpit-single-engine-egyptian-modified-combat-veteran/

There is a folder titles 'extra skins' these are markings for RNZAF Vampires that I could find no period photos of but found plenty of scale models in that peticular scheme.

This is a modified F-14A-005.bmp file for the excellent VF-32 and VF-41 MiG Killers skins for the new TMF F-14A and F-14A(82). The original skins appear to have been based off of the F-14B templates, and have the General Electric F-110 "Turkey Feathers"/engines that don't match up to the TF-30 nozzles. Just drop the new F-14A-005 skin file into the VF32-89 and VF41 skin files to replace the initial F-14A-005.bmp and go flying!
Anytime, Baby!

Strike Fighters 2: War For Israel V2.1 Part 1 of 2
Campaign For SF2:Israel. or
SF2,SF2:E,SF2:V with SF2:Israel Merged Install.
This is a Campaign i created to hit on the Possibility of the situation
in the Middle East coming to a head and represent the possible Air Battle.
The Campaign includes IDF, USAF, USMC, USN with Carrier support.
Also Egypt, Libya, Syria and 2 Mercenary Aircraft for Campaign play.
Installing the Campaign:
Campaign files with menu pics and Music files are included.
Also Included 3 Icon Files for the Main Dir to use with the Desktop Shortcut.
Extra Files are required: The E-3A.LOD's for the E-3 "Sentry" can be
found in Operation Desert Storm in the "ODS_part1.exe" file. You only need
the LOD's all others are already included. This Aircraft is not crucial but
fun to Include.
Make a copy of your "StrikeFighters2 Israel.exe" in the program folder
and rename it to "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael.exe". Also make a copy of the
INI and rename it "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael.ini" in the main dir.
Open the "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael.ini" file and change it to read at
the bottom:
[Module]
ModuleDataFile=ModuleWFI.cat
DefaultTerrainData=IsraelME
DefaultAircraft=F-15A_Baz
This will allow the use of the Menu file ModuleWFI.cat that goes in your
program folder "Menu" dir.
Now Run the New "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael.exe" and go the the
"Saved Game folder" "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael" and delete the "Aircraft"
and "GroundObject" folders. New ones will be created. I've included all the
Aircraft and Ground Objects including the Default SF2 Israel files so you
do not have to sift through them. You can add Aircraft later if you want.
Now Run the Menu Installer and point it to the program folders root
"Strike Fighters 2" Folder. Then Run the Mod Installer and point it to the
Saved Game folder root "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael".
Overwrite if it asks.
You should be ready to go.
Before anyone complains about stock planes in this mod the A-4N is From
the A-4AR Fightinghawk by RavenXXXX. And the Mig-27 is a modded version
using the stock usable Mig-27 skins, and is by lindr2.
Both can be downloaded at CombatAce.
I want to thank the Community for all their effort.
