  1. MiG-21bisD1-3

    MiG-21bisD1-3 german updateprogram (What if)

    II. History:

In January 1991 the Bundesverteidigungsministerium (ministery of defence of the Federal Republic Germany) decided to phase out all MiG-21 which were handed over after the reunification of Germany and scrap them.
Two mounth later ingenieurs of the german DASA company (became later part of EADS) wrote a letter of memorandum to the chairmen of their company. In their memo they stated, that an updateprogram for the MiG-21 would be a profitable cashcow for the DASA company. As reasons for their statement they gave some points:
    1. Repair and updatefacilities are already existing with the Flugzeugwerft Dresden
    2. Skilled personal is available
    3. Good connections to eastern Europe contries are given, because a lot of WP MiG's were repaired and overhauled in Dresden in the past.
    4. The eastern european states are attempting to leave the zone of influence of the Sovietunion and will try to become closer to the western alliance.
    5. The economic situation of the former WP states is so weak, that it is unlikely, that they will be able to purchase modern western equipment in the next decade. What means, that they will use the weapons they already have for a while.
    6. The backbone of the fighter fleet of states like Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Romania is still the MiG-21. Its an easy and cheap to operate plane and it is believed, that this plane will held in operational status till the year 2000.
Conclusion: For states which are willing to become members of the NATO and still operating the MiG-21 is an offer of a german made MiG-21 update program a welcome gift. It brings the MiG-21 to NATO standard and helps the economic weak states to operate a significant fighter fleet. To support our selling attempts is is neccessary, that the Luftwaffe must operate the updated MiG-21 in significant numbers over a periode of 5 years minimum.

In March 1991 the chairmen of the DASA decided to start a MiG-21 update program. Close informal connections to the Bundeskanzleramt and the MOD changed the fate of the MiG-21 in german service. The former east german Jagdgeschwader 8, based in Preschen, was relaunched under the new name "Erprobungsgeschwader 8". As operating aircraft only the MiG-21bis was choosen.

In April 1991, the DASA offered 3 update levels for the MiG-21 with the task to improve the combat capabilities of the plane by minimal changes in original design. The project name was MiG-21bisD. The D stands for Deutschland, the german name for Germany.

MiG-21bisD1, electronic update. It consist of the replacement of the RP-22 radar with the italian Grifo-7M, the implementation of an avionics container at the tailfin root, which contains an internal jammer SPS-142, a chaff - flare dispenser and parts of the NATO compatible radio equipment. The weapon system was modified to operate Sidewinder missiles, side by side with soviet made weapons. Only the R-3R missile was withdrawn, because the radar was unable to guide this weapon. The first MiG-21bisD1 was ready in November 1991 and entered the german service in spring 1992. In August 1992 the first MiG-21bisD1 was sold to Poland.

MiG-21bisD2, agility update. With this update the MiG-21bis got a pair of canards to improve the agility of the plane, an inflight refuel probe, new NATO compatible radio and a new french made IFF system. The radar RP-22 was slightly improved by better computers, so that the range was increased by 10% and the target quisition time reduced by 50%. The weapon system changes consist only of the Sidewinder implementation. The first D2 was completed in December 1991 and entered german service in summer 1992. First costumer was the Hungary in spring 1993, followed by Croatia in summer 1993.
A subversion was the MiG-21bisD2Cz for the Czech Republic which based on the MiG-21MF-75 and was delivered in mid 1993. This planes got the updated RP-22DM radars taken from the former east german MiG-21bis, but still had the old R-13-300 engines.

MiG-21bisD3, full NATO compatibility. This modification included the MiG-21bisD1 avionic update and the D2 agility update. Additionally the plane plane got a new engine. The old R-25-300 was replaced by the RB-199 Mk.105 which was developed for the Tornado ECR. It was ~ 5% stronger than the R-25 and a good piece shorter. The now existing space was used for a bigger internal fuel volume. In Spring 1992 the first MiG-21bisD3 started for maiden flight, but the program came to a temporary stop, when the british company GEC Marconi Avionics offered their Blue Hawk and Blue Vixen radars to the program. In summer 1992 the implementation of the Blue Vixen was finished and in spring 1993 the plane became able to operate the new american AIM-120A AMRAAM missile. The first MiG-21bisD3 entered the german service in November 1993. It proofed as a reliable, capable and cheap to operate aircraft. In 1993 the "Erprobungsgeschwader 8" was renamed in JG75 "Erich Hartmann". It operated the MiG-21bisD3 and a later D4 update till it was replaced by the first Eurofighter Typhoon in 2004.
Poland got the D3 in 1995, Romania in 1996. India showed an increased interesse for a licence production of the D3, but when the USA denied the AMRAAM capability India retreated from program and purchased the MiG-21BISON from Russia.

  2. MiG-17K and KP carrier borne fighters

MiG-17K and MiG-17KP Soviet Navy carrierborne fighters (What if) v1.1
    *****************************************************
This mod is made for SF2NA.

    ----------------------------------------------------------
    I. History

In 1946 the UK had a lot of major problems. It suffered high losses during WW2 and war damages all over the country were significant. The industry layed down and a lot of war depts pressed the economy further. On the other hand the Royal Navy had a lot of ships which were not neccessary anymore. So it was decided to sell some major ships, including aircraft carriers. So the HMS Colossus was sold to France, the HMS Warrior went to Canada. The Netherlands wanted to buy the Venerable and Australia was interessted in the Venegance.
1946 the Soviet Union showed their wish to buy 3 carriers of the Colossus class and offered a price of 50tons of fine gold. So the last 3 carriers of the Colossus class, the Theseus, Triumph and Perseus were handed over to the Soviet Sea War Fleet and became the names TAKR Odessa, TAKR Kronstadt and TAKR Sewastopol.
Odessa and Kronstadt were operated by the Northern Fleet, while the Sewastopol was operated by the Baltic fleet for 6 years. In 1952 all carriers were sent back to Navy wharfs to refit them with an angle deck. the blueprints of this innovative design was stolen by the Cambridge Five. In 1955 the Odessa became operational again The Kronstadt followed one year later and the Sewastopol reentered the service in 1957. All 3 carriers were used till mid 70th.

After refit with angle deck the MiG-17 became the core of the Odessa flight group. The MiG-17K was developed from the MiG-17F and was used for daylight operations and in the air to ground role. For bad weather and night operations the MiG-17KP was developed from the MiG-17PF. In 1967 both types were updated to carry the AA-2 Atoll (R-3S) missile.

  4. [Fictional] Lockheed F-90 Sentinel for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2

Fictional mod of the stock MiG-15bis to make it look like a fictional fighter plane for the USAF and the USMC.

YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE BOTH EXPANSION PACKS. OTHERWISE THE PLANE WON'T SHOW UP!
    BACKGROUND

In January of 1950, a soviet spy operating in Japan got uncovered by the local secret service. His task was to spy on local american industrial and military efforts in Japan and, at the same time, to hamper the secret services of both Japan and the US. The hampering was a top priority mission, since the Soviet Union was transferring fighter aircraft using container ships from Vladivostok to the communist movements in China and Korea.

Since the punishment for spying is death, the russian spy hoped to escape that fate by collaborating with the locals and asking for political asylum. In exchange, he offered top secret information for his life.

Among many interesting details concerning military and internal matters, the soviet spy also revealed, that the container ships were transporting weapons, heavy material and a new combat aircraft. All that goods were hidden in between
food and health supplies. Tanks and weapon caches got covered with huge tarpaulins, which were then covered with rice or grain shipments.

This information was but nothing compared to the fact, that the new soviet jet fighter, the MiG-15, was transported in large containers which were declared containing agricultural equipment and even toys.

The spy handed out a coded document, which contained all transports including their shipment and their routes. With the pretense of a security control, the japanese coast guard and some american marines boarded one of the ships containing the "Fagot". After a short firefight, where three of the crewmen, one japanese and one american soldier died, the crew surrendered and the control team was able to inspect the containers, finding twelve fully operational MiGs, destined to northern Korea. The ship was re-routed to Yokohama, where a CIA-operated containership brought the aircraft to the US. The Soviet Union accused the US of stealing goods from one of their ships, not stating the kind of goods.

After having presented these accusations during a United Nations conference two weeks later, the representatives of several countries wanted to know from the soviet delegate what exactly had been stolen. The soviet delegate refused to answer and stated, that the matter had already been discussed in between the ambassadors of both countries (during a secret meeting). The Soviet Union had to fear harsh international reactions and economical damage when it came out, that the country was selling weapons the "contraband"-style.

Back in the US, the fighter did undergo several testings, specially concerning acceleration and manouverability checks. It was also tested, how much damage this aircraft was able to bear before crashing down.

All test pilots agreed that the MiG was not that easy to fly, but that it pardoned a lot.

The ministry of defense, after the evaluation of the results, got of the opinion, that it would be a great enrichment to use this technology for their own aircraft industry and started a competition parting from the MiG-15.
North American, Bell and Lockheed got under the final three with their designs resulting in Lockheed being the winner with the F-90 Sentinel. Their aircraft was the existing MiG, using different materials, engine and armament but preserving the flight characteristics of the plane.

The engine was changed to the Pratt & Whitney J48, which had to be slightly adapted to the fuselage of the aircraft. The cannons of the MiG got replaced with two 20mm M3 and one 37mm M4 Cannons for targets with heavier armor.
It's maiden flight was on the 19th of May of 1951. Two squadrons in the USAF and one USMC squadron received the Sentinel.
While the USAF used the aircraft for anti-air missions, the USMC Sentinels performed ground support and striking sorties.
The Sentinel entered service on the 24th of August of 1951 in the USAF and 9th of September of 1951 in the USMC.

    This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire Meteor F.8 to give a fictional PZL-60 in service with the Polish Air Force with markings for;

No.302 Squadron - In a silver or bare metal finish.

No.318 Squadron - In a Photo-Recon scheme (this scheme is for the camera equipped PZL-60R).

If you wanted all three squadrons in silver it would be easy to swap things around and a 'patch' PSD is included to help you make the changes or to help you introduce your own favourite esquadron.

    BACKSTORY

The stunning success of Operation Market Garden and the subsequent push through Holland and across the North German Plain during the Autumn of 1944 shook the German Military High Command to it's core and eventually led to the assassination of Adolf Hitler on November 10th, 1944 when his Ju-52 transport aircraft was shot down by unknown rogue Luftwaffe pilots as the part of the Fighter Pilots Conspiracy.

The new German Military High Command concluded that it would be in the best interests of the country to throw everything into the defence of the Eastern Front and allow Allied forces in the West to advance without opposition, although the logistical chain made this advance slower than expected. On the Eastern Front there was an almost immediate slowdown in the rate of the Soviet advance and soon Soviet forces inside Poland were held at the Bialystok-Rzeszow line. By January 1944 Allied forces in the West were reaching the borders of Austria, Czechoslovakia and Poland hampered only by roads clogged by evacuees and surrendering German troops but by the middle of January 1945 General Patton's Third US Army had punched through to liberate Warsaw before swinging north to meet up with Montgomery's 21st Army Group at Gdansk. By February 8th it was all over and the formal German surrender was signed at Lublin in Eastern Poland by Grand Admiral Karl Donitz and General Walter Bedell Smith and witnessed by Russian General Ivan Susloparov and French General Francois Sevez.

The rescheduled Yalta Conference held on March 1st, 1945 saw Stalin demanding a "Soviet sphere of political influence" in Eastern and Central Europe in return for Soviet support in the Pacific War against Japan by invading Japan through Manchuria. However a last minute briefing made to President Roosevelt by Major General Kenneth Nichols on the progress on the Manhattan Project led to President Roosevelt's decision not to rely on Soviet support in the Pacific and to wholeheartedly support Winston Churchill's demand for free elections and democratic governments in Eastern and Central Europe and specifically in Poland. Churchill reminded all present that in September 1939 Britain and France had gone to war with Germany in support of Poland and nothing other than a free and democratic Poland would suffice. Roosevelt knew that Soviet spies at Los Alamos were aware of the power of the atomic bombs and also how close to operational status and used this knowledge that Stalin also knew to stiffen his resolve. In the horsetrading that followed the Western Allies essentially got what they wanted with regard to Poland with the new border essentially following the 1940 version of the Curzon Line but the the rest of Central and Eastern were handed over to the Soviet sphere of political influence.

The Allied withdrawl from Poland followed during the Spring and Summer of 1945 and culminated in the declaration of "The Third Polish Republic" on November 11th, 1945 a date chosen to coincide with the existing National Independence Day. Also on this day, and wisely for a country now surrounded by Communist states and within the Soviet sphere of influence, the new Polish Government declared its neutrality as an Act of Parliament as part of the Constitution of Poland. Led by Stanislaw Mikolajczyk the new Republic of Poland had a difficult birth but the Polish people reconstructed their battered country with such vigour that by 1948 they had recovered their economy and infrastructure to pre-WW2 levels and continued this economic miracle into the 1950's and beyond.

During this tumultuous time the new Polish Air Force had a similarly difficult birth commencing with the dove-tailing of the Polish elements of the Royal Air Force (active since 1940) with the Polish People's Air Force (created in 1943 in defence of the Soviet Union). Some RAF Spitfire IX's and USAAF P-51D's were left behind at airfields in the West of the country to reform No.302 Squadron at Swidwin and a handful of elderly Yak-1 and damaged Yak-9 fighters were scraped together in the East of the country to reform the 1st Fighter Regiment at Warsaw later renamed No.303 Squadron. During the Spring of 1946 ex-RAF Tempest V's replaced the Spitfires and Mustangs of No.302 Squadron but No.303 Squadron had to wait until 1948 to re-equip with the unpopular Avia S-199 supplied by Czechoslovakia. During 1950 both squadrons began to receive Gloster Meteor F.8's from a cancelled Egyptian order following the UN arms embargo and No.302 Squadron operated the type until 1961 when they were replaced by Dassault Super Mystères. A production licence was granted to PZL (Panstwowe Zaklady Lotnicze - the State Aviation Works) to manufacture the Gloster Meteor F.8 and a total of 96 aircraft were manufactured between 1952 and 1956.

  11. MiG-21K carrierborn fighter family

MiG-21K, KS, KST and Kbis Soviet Navy carrierborne fighters (What if) v1.0
    *************************************************************
This mod is made for SF2NA.

    ----------------------------------------------------------
    I. History

In 1946 the UK had a lot of major problems. It suffered high losses during WW2 and war damages all over the country were significant. The industry layed down and a big amount of war depts pressed the economy further. On the other hand the Royal Navy had a lot of ships which were not neccessary anymore. So it was decided to sell some major ships, including aircraft carriers. The HMS Colossus was sold to France, the HMS Warrior went to Canada. The Netherlands wanted to buy the HMS Venerable and Australia was interessted in the HMS Venegance.
1946 the Soviet Union showed their wish to buy 3 carriers of the Colossus class and offered a price of 50tons of fine gold. So the last 3 carriers of the Colossus class, the Theseus, Triumph and Perseus were handed over to the Soviet Sea War Fleet and were named as TAKR Odessa, TAKR Kronstadt and TAKR Sewastopol.
Odessa and Kronstadt were operated by the Northern Fleet, while the Sewastopol served in the Baltic fleet for 6 years. In 1952 all carriers were sent back to Navy wharfs to refit them with an angle deck. The blueprints of this innovative design was stolen by the Cambridge Five espionage group. In 1955 the Odessa became operational again. The Kronstadt followed one year later and the Sewastopol reentered the service in 1957. All 3 carriers were used till mid/end 70th.
After refit with angle deck the MiG-17 became the core of the Odessa flight group. But in 1961, the Soviet Navy demanded a supersonic interceptor with Mach 2 capabilities. The OKB MiG decided to modify their newest plane, the MiG-21PF, to fit the requirements of carrier operations. The MiG-21K was born.
The K got a strenghtend landing gear, an arrestor hook and carriertypical avionics. The most obviesly difference was the introduction of canards and an inflight refuel probe. So it was possible to increase the former much to short range of the plane. The K got the new engine R-13-300 which was originally intended for the next MiG-21 generation.
After nearly one decade of carrier operations a new updated version was needed. It came in 1968 and got the designation MiG-21KS. The KS got the RP-22 radar which increased the detection range by 50% and made new weapons possible. So the R-60 and R-3R were introduced and the air to ground missile Kh-23. The number of weapon stations was doubled. Now were 4 wingpylons available. The new stronger R-13F2-300 engine gave the KS a better handling.
As nuclear strike plane the MiG-21KST was developed. KST stands for korableniy, safir, toplivo what means carrierborn, saphire radar RP-22, additionally fuel. It got the big back tank of the MiG-21SMT and was prepared to carry nuclear bombs under the wings. It entered the service in 1973.
1975 the last version MiG-21Kbis came to the squadrons. The external shape was similar to the precessor MiG-21KS, but under the skin the Kbis was a new plane. The structure was mainly build by titanium what made the plane light and strong. The new R-25-300K engine gave more thrust and less fuel consumtion. The RP-22KM radarsystem was able to operate the new medium range air to air missiles of the R-23 and R-24 family over a distance up to 40km.
All MiG-21K versions had had no internal gun, but where ably to carry the GP-9 gunpod under the central fuselage station.

  15. [Renewed] Boeing/Mitsubishi FA-18FJ Super Hornet

This is a mod of the Super Hornet F from EricJ to make it look like fighterplane from the japanese air self defense force.

    BACKGROUND:
In 2011, the actual minister of defense, Toshimi Kitazawa, wanted the air force to be more powerful and well equipped than they are now. Even the F-2 and the F-15J and DJ seemed not to be modern enough. Kitazawa was of the opinion, with the rising of China and the becoming dangerous of northern Korea, the air force as main line of defense had to grow in strength.

During that same year, Japan and the US signed a contract over more than 120 planes, primarily F-Type, of the Super Hornet. Being modified by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for being capable of using the modern japanese missiles.

Being odd at first sight, the new aggressor camo of the first squadron to receive the plane reflects the mood of its pilots, showing the enemy that there will be no retreat..just like Samurai. The unperfect camo concerning some stains along the colour borders are wanted and shall recall the japanese calligraphy.

The first planes will enter service in 2012 in the 8th, 302nd, 303rd and 305th Hikotai.

    INSTALLATION:
Simply drop the Folders into your Strike Fighters Mods Folder.

Special thanks go again to EricJ for giving me his template for the VMFAT-Skin. Otherwise the skinning of the aggressor skin would have taken a long time. Thanks again.

  17. P-40S SuperHawk SF2 ('What If')

    P-40S SuperHawk

This is a fictional upgrade of the P-40N Warhawk.

    Background:

With the XP-40Q project failing to get of the ground Curtiss came up with an upgrade to the existing late model P-40 airframes that would give them performance on par with the XP-40Q and the P-51D. The resulting P-40S SuperHawk performs so well it rapidly becomes one of the front line fighters of choice. It will even go on to serve in the Korean War alongside the P-51D.

    The upgrade:

    - 2200HP Packard V-2250 engine (Packard built Merlin 1710 upgraded to 2200HP).

    - Four-bladed Rotol propeller.

    - 4 x 20mm Hispano Mk II cannons.

    - K-14 gyro gunsight.

    - Range: 650 mi (560 nmi, 1,100 km400 nmi (459 mi, 740 km).

    - Service ceiling: 43,500 ft (13,258 m).

    - Rate of climb: 3,650 ft/min (18.5 m/s).

I have included skins for every late war WWII theatre the P-40 operated in as well as a ‘what if’ USAF WWII ETO and Korea skin. There are skins for the RAAF, RAF, RNZAF, USAF and Soviet Airforce.

  18. SF2 WW2 PTO "What If" Ki-201 Karyu 'Fire Dragon'

SF2 WW2 PTO "What If" Ki-201 Karyu 'Fire Dragon' 10/25/2014

    = For SF2 (Full 5 Merged RECCOMENDED!)

*This mod will =NOT= work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs at any patch level. It was built for SF2 ONLY!!.*

This is a re-issue of my WW2 "What If..." Ki-201 Karyu IJAAF jet interceptor. This mods uses Veltro2k's Me-262 as the base, and is designed to COMPLETLY replace the (now unavailable) version I'd built many eons ago for SF 1stGens. If you still have that original in your WW2 PTO-1946 style mods folder, you should delete both the aircraft and decals folders. THIS version =will= replace it totally.

There is just one skin, "representing" the (fictional) 100th Independant Air Company, and it's 3 attendant Chutai (squadrons). Each Chutai is designated by the color of the 'plane in group' numbers. See "Notes" for further enlightenment.
The skin is in jpg format, and the damage textures are DDS. All markings are decals, and decal randomization is set to TRUE.
All items needed (guns, drop tanks, rockets and their mounting rack, NEW pilot figure) are included. EXCEPT the "usual suspects" Japanese bombs and such. The original 1stGen hangar screen has been converted for SF2, and fits that styling.

When in game, you'll see on the aircraft selection drop down...

    Ki-201 "Fritz" (v2k)

As the other is no longer available, this is just a 'saftey net' so there should be no conflicts. I've given it the Allied code name "Fritz", as a knod to its German origins.

As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!! Also, please give the "Notes" section a read as well

    Good Hunting!!

(this is a mod that I'd sort of forgotten about, what with being busy building Real Life ™ things! Enjoy!)

  19. [Fictional] Grumman F-14A Tomcat 'COAN'

Grumman F-14A 'COAN' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2:NORTH ATLANTIC

This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-14A_77 to give a fictional Tomcat F-14A 'COAN' as it might have appeared in service with the Comando de Aviación Naval Argentina and includes fictional markings for the famous 2nd Escuadrilla Aeronaval de Caza y Ataque (2nd Fighter/Attack Squadron).

You must have Strike Fighters:North Atlantic for the Third Wire F-14A Tomcat and for the optional carrier.

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-14A_COAN folder into your Aircraft folder.

    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-14A_COAN folder into your Decals folder.

    3. From the GROUND OBJECTS folder drag and drop the BernardinoRivadavia folder into your Ground Objects folder.*

    4. From the PILOTS folder drag and drop the PILOT_COAN into your Pilots folder.

    5. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop the AM39 folder into your Weapons folder.

    * You'll really need to add 'ArgentineNavy' to the limited nations section of the ICELANDNA_NATIONS data.ini (which you'll need to extract). Doing this yourself will allow you to align the Argentine Navy to a 'colour' of your choice.

    CREDITS

As always, thanks to TK for a great little game/sim.

Thanks to Ravenclaw007 for the AM39 Exocet missile.

  21. 'What if' KAW Hawker Hunter F.1 with Campiagn

'What if' KAW Hawker Hunter F.1A & F.1B with campiagn 1.0

    The back story:

In order to meet the Mig-15 threat over Korea and with no capable fighters currently in the RAF inventory the British Ministry of Supply instructs Hawker Aviation to undertake a crash production program of its P.1067 fighter. Project ‘Huntsman’. In less than a year since the prototype flew and two years ahead of schedule the Hawker Hunter is deployed to the Korean Theatre in early 1952. Since the Hunter F.1 designation was already assigned to the first full production Hunters due into service in 1954, the Hunters produced under program ‘Huntsman’ are (unusually) designated Hunter F.1A

These aircraft are basically identical to the future production Hunter F.1 the most obvious difference being that they are finished in High Speed Silver. However the lack of paint means these Hunters are 21 Mph faster and 53Kg lighter than the full production F.1 Hunters.

Operations over Korea immediately highlighted the Hunters inherent shortcomings. Of most concern was its lack of fuel and endurance with barely an hour’s flight time. Also of concern was the damage done to the fuselage caused by the ejection of spent cartridge links. These concerns (among others) would be addressed in time by future models of the Hunter, but in the skies of Korea in 1952 the lack of range and endurance had to be immediately mitigated. And thus the Hunter F.1B is born with the addition of wing mounted drop tanks installed in theatre.

    What's in it:

    - Hawker Hunter F.1A

    - Hawker Hunter F.1B

    - Various RAF 43 and 222 Squadron Skins in Camo and High Speed Silver.

    - NOTE: The camo skins are included as a bonus but the aircraft data.ini files are set up to reflect the high speed silver skins as I have included the weight reduction and increased speed that comes without using camo paint. I found the figures I used in an article about the trial OD green Sabres in Korea.

    - sounds

    - pilot

    - Modified Korea Campaign using the Hunters. This will not change the original campaign in any way, you will see an additional campaign called 'Korean War Hunters Over Korea' that you can select. Missions will be similar to the Sabre, No 43 Squadron is based at Suwon AB (K-13) and No. 222 Squadron at Kimpo AB (K-14).

    - NOTE: this mod can be added to the Wings Over Korea mod without any change what so ever to the original game play. You will never see these Hunters show up over Korea unless you play the above included campaign or start a single mission with a Hunter.

    Operations:

    - canopy open key=10 automatic closing at take off

    To Install:

    - Designed to be used with the Wings Over Korea mod but should work without it.

    - Put everything in you main StrikeFighters2 KAW mods folder

    - Get the Wings Over Korea mod here:

  23. [Fictional] Super Etendard Marineflieger for SF2

Fictional mod of Foxmonters Super Etendard to make it look like a fictional attacker for the west german navy. It shall depict a bird that could have entered service in the german air forces if the military had not had the "double-engine doctrine" caused by the high losses inflicted by the Starfighter (or "Widowmaker"; nickname from the german pilots).

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Drop the folders into your Objects folder. If asked to overwrite, click yes.

See included readmes for further notes and original credits.

    CREDITS

    Thanks to:

Foxmonter and all other involved people for the aircraft itself.

Ravenclaw_007 for the german pilot included here.

Wrench for the combo pak from which I've taken the model from.

    Flogger23 for the great template.

  24. SF2 KAW Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm "What If" Aircraft Pack

SF2 KAW Fleet Air Arm "What If" Aircraft Pack 3/30/2015

*For SF2 -ONLY-!! Full-5 Merged Reccomended*

This package contains 2 "What If..." aircraft as used (???) by the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm during the Korean War.
    They are:

    Hawker Seahawk F.1A
    898 NAS, HMS Ocean

    Vought Corsair Mk.V (F4U-4B)
    1841 NAS, HMS Theseus
    1830 NAS, HMS Glory (1953)

The Seahawk has gotten a major revamp from the very old 1stGen version released several thousand years ago. It should be noted at this time, the Seahawk has "some issues" on recovering back on the boat. See Notes for more info. Hopefully, someone can fix this.
It also gets a 'new' cockpit, courtesy of Stary.
The Corsair has 2 skins, both with Korean era "invasion stripes", but 1841 NAS is in USN DGNB. Essentialy, a RN marked USN bird, carrying UK ordanance (ok, the 60# rockets). 1830 NAS has been repainted to "standard" FAA camo (grey uppers, "sky" unders). The SF2 date switch is NOT used for either of these skins. Both use the same pools of decals.
On all skins, all markings are decals. Recal randomization is set to "TRUE"

When in-game, on the aircraft selection drop down you'll see:

    Corsair Mk.V
    SeaHawk F.1A

Weapons, pilots, and such are provided for the Seahawk. With the exception of a 'new' rocket rack for the Corsair, it reuses most everything already in the KAW Weapons Pack.
As all markings are decals; this is make it easy for other texture artists to change the ship ID letter, and create other fictional squadrons.
For the Corsair only, the Standarn Animation Keystrokes are used for wingfold and canopy (Shift/9 & Shift/0). The Seahawks have no working canopy or wingfolds (it's an old model, what can I say?).
The Seahawk also gets new DDS damage textures, and many smaller 'tweeks' (again, see Notes below).

As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!! Also, as usual, give the "Notes and Comments" section a read, too. In the Seahawk's aircraft folder, is my original (2008) what-if readme.

    Happy Landings & Have Fun!!

  25. [Fictional] Avia S-92 'Ilmavoimat'

Avia S-92 'Ilmavoimat' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2

This is a fictional version of the Avia S-92 (Czech built Me-262A-1a) by Veltro2K in post-war service with the Finnish Air Force during the 1946-1951 timeline.

JonathanRL has some campaign plans for it and set me a skinning challenge so I thought I'd release it here as a 'normal' Ilmavoimat version for anyone who wants it.

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the S-92_Ilm folder into your Aircraft folder.

    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the S-92_Ilm folder into your Decals folder.

    3. From the EFFECTS folder drag and drop both files into your Effects folder.

    4. From the SOUNDS folder drag and drop the Jumo file into your Sounds folder.

    CREDITS

Thanks to Veltro2K for making the 3D model of the S-92 'Turbina' (Veltro2K's original S-92 Readme including his credits/thanks is enclosed).

And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.

    Regards
