  1. This is an F-4K Phantom II in the markings of the Royal Australian Navy. 805 and 808 Squadrons are portrayed.
    F-4J loadouts are used.
The aircraft has been tested in a merged SF2 installation, patched in August 2012.
Incidentally, I'd suggest also getting Wrench's HMAS Australia (SCB-125 "What If") located here: http://combatace.com...cb-125-what-if/

    Backstory

The RAN proposed the acquisition of Essex class carriers to the Government in 1964 to replace the Majestic class HMAS Melbourne. The aircraft the RAN proposed was the F-4B Phantom.
Operating an F-4B from the relatively small deck of an Essex class carrier is problematic, to say the least. On the other hand, the extra power of the Spey-engined Phantom would enable the operation of a Phantom from such a small deck.
For further on this (including the RAN proposal itself) see the following:

    Notes:

This release is a beta, and as such, is somewhat incomplete. The cockpit is from the B-1B, and there are no damage textures. However, almost all other features of a full release have been included.

    Aircraft include:

XB-70 - The original research aircraft in it's actual configuration...not really set up for warfighting.

However, this set also includes semi fictional versions of operational aircraft:

B-70A - This is most probable version of the Valkyrie that would exist had it gone into production. It is done in 2 paint schemes, the high altitude anti-flash white, and a version painted in an odd silver coating designed to reduce the IR signature (as proposed by the USAF). This version also includes the wing pylons for the Skybolt ALBM, and projected pylons for the smaller nuclear gravity weapons available at the time.

RS-70B - Proposed version of the Valkyrie in an attempt to save it from the budget axe. Similiar to the B-70A in capability, but with additional reconnaissance ability similiar to SR-71. This is simulated by an internal camera window taking the location of the forward weapons bay. I projected that the RS-70B would come into existence during the late part of the Vietnam war, using the camera bay to carry the targeting laser, and dropping PGMs since conventional bombing at 80000 feet and Mach 3 would be very inaccurate. As a result, the first LGB drops in Vietnam are done by the RS-70B, not the F-4.

B-70C - Completely fictional version of the Valkyrie. In the history where the Valkyrie was produced, most of the B-52 fleet was retired very soon after the Vietnam War, only the G and H models remained to carry the AGM-86B cruise missile. The B-1 was never proposed, with the B-70A being the main gravity nuke delivery system and the RS-70B being the PGM bomber. The F-111 and FB-111 remained as the medium range, low altitude conventional and nuclear penetrator. The B-2 was designed at the outset to be a low altitude penetrator, avoiding the costly redesign the actual B-2 went through, bringing unit cost down. As it was, the B-70 and RS-70 were expected to be retired at the beginning of the 1990s as high altitude, high speed SAM systems became more and more lethal. However, after Desert Storm, the lesson was learned that big, long range SAM systems are vulnerable and expensive, but anyone can have AAA...so the doctrine was adjusted for more medium/high altitude operations with PGMs. So all Valkyries underwent a modernization to the B-70C standard, with the ability to carry all PGMs, including the JDAM, JSOW, JASSM for employment in regional conflicts.

There are a few bugs that we haven't been able to solve and may not be solvable due to simulation limitations. The main one is the AI will not take advantage of the high speed and altitude capabilities of the aircraft. Even if you create an actual mission with waypoints dictating altitudes and speeds, it will not fly those parameters (tends to fly a maximum of Mach 1.7). We are still working to squash the remaining issues...and one day we will have a proper cockpit for this machine.

This is a long range aircraft, you can hit a few of the 'walls' on several of the stock maps so give yourself plenty of turning room when planning your flight.

Have fun...report any crippling bugs (except trying to use it in SFP1/WOV/WOE/WOI...you're on your own) in the release thread at CA.

    - For SF2 (Any and All, but Full-4/5 Merged Prefered) -

*This mod makes use of the F-4B cockpit and avionics inis, which should be available in all versions, excepting perhaps a stand-alone SF2:I. Hence, the 'Full-4 Merged' tag. It is the prefered type of install*

An update of the update from 8/2011...now re-uploaded.

Some mods for Veltro2K's (X)F-109 VTOL Interceptor bring it more in line for SF2. Modifications include (but not limited to):

    Skin slightly repainted
All new decals for serial and Buzz Numbers.
Squadron markings for the 48th FIS from Langley AFB
    Skin converted to jpg format
Cockpit switched to stock F-4B (closest match)
Canopy switched to manual animation key (use Shift/0)
Weapons fit and mission statements more in line with a 'point defence interceptor'
Reuse of classic Bell WW2 Fighter Name ™
Decal randomization is set to TRUE, so be at least at the May or June 2011 patch level to take advantage of this feature.
    And many others.

  5. Had it been built, the Bell D-188A project would have been one of the most unorthodox aircraft to fly, and certainly the most unusual in the US Air Force inventory. In 1955, Bell Aircraft was requested by both the USAF and the US Navy to develop a VTOL/STOVL supersonic, all-weather fighter-bomber and defence interceptor. The project was highly ambitious and was designed to fulfill a multitude of roles for two different services and, as a result – based on the poor record of other cooperative Air Force/Navy aircraft projects – it is highly dubious as to its success.[citation needed] The aircraft was designated the Model 2000, and was offered in two different versions – the D-188 for the Navy and the D-188A for the Air Force. Bell had rather optimistically called the Navy version the XF3L-1 and the Air Force version the XF-109, although neither of these designations were official.[citation needed] On 5 December 1960, Bell publicly showed off the design as the XF-109 – the Air Force version, as the Navy had lost interest the year earlier, however in the spring of 1961, the US Air Force canceled the program and no examples were built.

  6. Now compatible with recently released CF-5A (Was originally made for NF-5A only)
The Squad:The 108th Tactical Fighter Squadron, nicknamed Wardog, was intially a squadron composed primarily of trainees, led by Capt. Jack Bartlett (callsign Heartbreak One), and two other veteran combat pilots

    The F-5 Pilot:
Bartlett, although a very talented pilot, has had a notorious history of being unable to comply with orders given, opting instead to follow his conscience. Bartlett cares for all the trainees under his command. "Heartbreak One" came by his callsign after losing love interest Major Nastasya Vasilievna Obertas sometime before Operation Battle-Axe during the 1995 Belkan War. Bartlett was never promoted beyond Captain in the 15 years since the end of the Belkan War due to his repeated insubordination, as he stated himself: "I don't know why they even bother reprimanding me anymore. I know I'm gonna be stuck at captain forever."

  8. A/F-24 Shadowcat (AFX) for Strike Fighters 2

    ----------------------------------------------
    Preface:

After making the first attempt at modelling this concept, which ended up as the not-very-accurate F-24 Shadowcat for WOI, I decided to go back and, armed with a lot more research material and better workflow, redo the entire thing from the ground up as accurate as is possible with unbuilt concepts. It originally was to feature a new cockpit based on that of the A-12 Avenger II, but this turned out to look quite ugly ingame. I eventually found out that the real thing was to use cockpit displays from the F-22 for sakes of commonality, so I decided I might as well build a straight-down navalized F-22 cockpit for which a whole lot more reference material is available.

    ----------------------------------------------
    Known Issues:

The cockpit isn't 100% complete. I thought it was better to release something that's 99% complete and fix it later which I will as it was always part of the plan to adapt the cockpit back into a straight F-22 pit.

For some reason all of your wingmen except #2 will tip over and crash on the taxiway. No idea why this happens. They all start fine from the carrier though.

  11. Yakovlev Yak-41M for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is simple mod of Gabilon's Yak-41 'Freestyle' to create a fictional Yak-41M in service with the Ukrainian Naval Aviation and the Ukrainian Air Force. Gabilon created his Yak-41 in 2007 (his first 3D model - Chapeau!) and Fubar512 improved the FM and those improvements are duly incorporated here along with a few modifications by me.
    Three new Ukrainian skins are included;
    1. Ukrainian Naval Aviation in a blue splinter scheme for maritime operations.
    2. Ukrainian Air Force in a 'Flygvapnet' splinter scheme for tactical operations.
    3. Ukrainian Air Force in a modern (boring) grey scheme.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the Yak-41M folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the Yak-41M folder into your main Decals folder.
    3. From the SOUNDS folder drag and drop both the sound files into your main Sounds folder.
    4. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop all four weapons folder into your main Weapons folder.

  12. I modded the MiG-29 from The Mirage Factory to make it look like a fictional fighter and recon plane for the japanese air self defense force.

    BACKGROUND
The change in the government of North Korea (KJI jr. substituting his father) led to a fear from a neighbour who was continuing his nuclear weapon program and becoming an unstable factor in the surroundings of Japan. China, the big brother to NK, kept influencing KJI not to try anything that could lead to a greater war in the far east. Although Pyongyang assures not to threaten peace in Eastern Asia, the ministry of defense of Japan decided to act. The ministry of defense created a new squadron, the 65th Hikotai, stationed in Miho. The squadron badge was composed by a classic origami figure.

The decision on which plane to choose for this new squadron did not take long. Two russian MiG-29 were forced to land in Japan because one of them suffered engine problems. The JASDF used this opportunity to take a closer look on this plane. It's easy maintenance and the low demand of time needed to get the plane ready were the main reasons for choosing the plane.

    1. Drop the folders into your MODS Folder. If asked to overwrite, click yes.

  14. Fictional Mod of Bongodrivers fantastic EF-2000 to create a plane for the iraqi air force. It includes modifications according to Trench 3.

    BACKGROUND
After three conflicts with heavy losses, the iraqi air force got almost completely destroyed. The fall of Saddam Hussein and the political system turning from dictatorship to democracy made it necessary to accept foreign help in reconstructing the country. This also meant the rebuilding of the air force.

In this matter, a meeting of actual british prime minister and his colleague in the iraqi government took place in London, where a contract was meant to be signed about the purchase of 60 new, to the needs of the iraqi air force adapted, Typhoons. The modifications were, among others:

    - added CFTs on the fuselage for the enhancement of the range
    - highly upgraded ECM and electronic warfare systems
    - modified engines with higher thrust
    - use of western armament

The most important upgrade, the CFTs, were necessary due to the fact that the Al I'ssars (iraqi for Typhoon) had to takeoff from Bagdad and Al Sahra and had to travel a long way before reaching their patrolling routes.

Along with the Typhoons, Iraq signed a contract with Russia for the purchase of 60 Super Flanker with the designation SU-35IQ Asifat al Turab (Sandstorm).

  15. A Mod of the Mirage 2000B from Amokfloo and JAT81500 to make it look like a fictional fighter for the spanish air force.

    BACKGROUND
According to EESP (European Economic Stability Protocol) signed in the middle of 2012 in Brussels by the 27 partners of the EU, the countries with a high rate of debt (Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal etc.) had to execute all measures necessary in order to reduce their debts. In article 12 "About the defense of the homeland", the countries of the EU constituted that all redundant units had to be dissolved and the equipment to be sold.

Furthermore, the armies of the affected countries had to change their "non-european" equipment for european equipment. Spain had therefore to sell their US fighterplanes and replace them by european ones. In exchange, the equipment will be cheaper than for standard customers from outside the EU.

The F-18Cs got sold back to the US. The mayor manufacturers of fighters in Europe were Dassault, Saab and the Eurofighter Corporation. The spanish air force decided to order the Mirage 2000 for the Ala 46, stationed on the Canary Islands. Two wings were equipped with the Mirage 2000-5F, renamed E (local designation: C-27) and one wing received the Mirage 2000B, renamed BE (local designation: CB-27)

  16. Simple mod the stock F-4E_78 to make it look like a fictional
fighter plane for the spanish air force.

YOU WILL NEED SF2:E AT LEAST TO GET THIS PLANE RUNNING!

    BACKGROUND
The spanish air force was thinking of replacing their F-4C-Fleet
with F-4E for some considerable reasons:

    - The lack of a gun in combat would often be a problem once all
missiles are fired or the enemy got to close to use them
    - Using a gunpod under the fuselage would reduce either firepower
(due to the lack of one pylon for bombs etc.) or range (same, but
    for fuel-tank)

Carter's administration took the F-4Cs back, converting them into
QF-4C Drones for weapon testing and delivered two entire squadrons of F-4E. The first squadron, the 121st, received their planes in 1979
displaying the SEA camo. The 122nd received their planes six
months later, in 1980, featuring the two-tone grey camo.

The planes received the designation "C-12C", while the "C" stands
for "cañon" - spanish for cannon, referring this way to the chin-mounted gun.

  17. 'What nearly was' Royal New Zealand Air force F-16A/B Block 15 OCU/MLU Anthology.

When doing some research about the proposed Kahu II upgrade for the RNZAF A-4K fleet I found some good info on the New Zealand F-16 deal 'that nearly was' in the late 1990s/early 2000s. I decided to make as accurate 'what if' version I could.

Ive used the Mirage factory F-16A/B Block 15 OCU model which is the version we would have received as they were built for Pakistan but embargoed and put in storage.

I added a A-4K style UHF antenna just behind the refuelling receptacle.

I've left the weapons the same as used by the upgraded A-4K fleet in 2001 except for the addition of the Litening targeting pod and Harpoon ASM which were going to be procured along side the F-16. Since the RNZAFs primary role is close air support it was unlikely any extra money was going to be spent on any radar guided missile, such as the AIM-120, as their air-to-air role was seen as one of primarily self defence.

The terms of the deal included a Mid Life Upgrade at the end of the 10 year lease period when we would have purchased the aircraft. As part of the MLU I have included the integration of the AIM-9X along with the JHMCS as it stands to reason that the RNZAF's AIM-9L models would have been considered to be going out of date by 2009. The Pylon Integrated Dispensing System (PIDS) has also been included as part of the MLU as it is in some European Mid Life Upgrades.

Also on the MLU aircraft are ALQ-131 ECM pods which there were provisions for in the original terms of the lease but most likely would have been pushed out to the time of the MLU because of the extra costs.

There are 4 separate aircraft that represent the 13 'A' and 9 'B' model Vipers before and after a Mid Life Upgrade (MLU):

-F-16A Blk 15 OCU RNZAF (What if?)

-F-16B Blk 15 OCU RNZAF (What if?)

-F-16AM Blk 15 MLU RNZAF (What if?)

-F-16BM Blk 15 MLU RNZAF (What if?)

I've given the A models the serial numbers NZ6301 through to NZ6313 and the B models NZ6314 through to NZ6322

2 Different skins for the operational aircraft are included which are; the Pakistani style camouflage scheme the aircraft were already painted when New Zealand placed the order and they would have been delivered in. As well as an all over medium grey used on all current RNZAF aircraft since around 2003.

8 Special/Commemorative skins are also included such as; high-viz Commanding Officers aircraft, Rugby World Cup All Blacks supporters scheme, a couple of retro Kiwi Skyhawk style skins, an Aggressor skin plus a few others.

You can use the mission editor to load alternate loadout options that include the AIM-120 or are specific to close air support roles in Afghanistan etc

Also included is a extensive RWR.LST and set of RWR.TGA files.

  20. North American Shark FGA.2 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
    This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-100D to give a fictional North American Shark FGA.2 (I guess the RAF didn't fancy the 'Super Sabre' name) with markings for;

  21. F-23E for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
    This is a simple mod of Dels' excellent F-23A 'Black Widow' to give a fictional F-23E 'Karish' (Shark) of the Israeli Air Force with markings for;
No.110 squadron - The Knights Of The North Squadron.
No.119 Squadron - The Bat Squadron (with toned-down markings).

    BACKSTORY
With the success of the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom and F-15 Eagle in Heyl HaAvir service the Israeli's were hoping that the Northrop/McDonnell Douglas F-23A 'Black Widow' would win the USAF's ATF competition to continue their successful relationship with the McDonnell Douglas team at St. Louis but unfortunately Lockheed Martin's victory in the ATF competition looked like bringing an end to a long and enduring partnership.
However in a brave move, in May 1991 the Northrop/McDonnell Douglas team secured permission from Congress to actively market the F-23 to (State Department) 'approved' nations and offered a single-seat multi-role version called the F-23E (Export) to Germany, Japan, Israel and the UK. With Germany looking for any excuse to get out of the Eurofighter consortium and facing high reunification costs they persuaded the UK to team up in a combined purchase of 200 F-23E's. In return, this led to the German and UK Governments persuading Northrop/McDonnell Douglas to make BAe and MBB prime sub-contractors for any further export sales.
However, with only 200 F-23E's on order Northrop/McDonnell Douglas were not convinced that it was enough to start a viable programme but the breakthrough came in January 1994 when the USAF agreed to purchase 100 F-23A's for PACAF (the air component of United States Pacific Command) and this move finally saw Japan and Israel also join the programme with 100 F-23E's each.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-23E folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-23E folder into your Decals folder.
    That's it!

  22. MiG-17PEV Fresco-C 'Abakarab'

    BACKGROUND HISTORY:

During the mid-50's the Parani Air Force needed to update its whole fleet regarding to future conflicts
with their neighbour the Kingdom of Dhimar.
Contacts were made with the Soviet government and a license to build the SU-7 under the name of P-207
    was bought.
But the SU-7 was still in development and Paran needed a modern jetfighter to face an inminent war with
    Dhimar.
They showed interest for the new MiG-17 which fitted very well in the Air Force needs and was been widely
exported to the allies of the USSR.
Instead of buying a license, they bought some MiG-17 squadrons. The soviets made a new version for Paran, the MiG-17PEV (Paran Export Version) which was basically a modified MiG-17F. It was called 'Abakarab' (Skorpion) by the Parani pilots.
In this version the radar has been removed, the strenght of the wings have been enforced to give the
aircraft more maneuverability, an the three 30mm cannons have been replaced by three 20 mm machine guns with 200 rounds each.
The Skorpion showed its excellent quality in the conflicts against Dhimar where it shot down many
US and Dhimari fighters. It was also very useful and accurate in air to ground missions.

Must have SF2I or SF2 Merged for this to work on your game.

Copy the content from each of the folders to your respective folder on your game.

    Contain the following aircraft:

    J-2304
    J-2308
    J-2325
    J-2326
    R-2102
    R-2106
    R-2108
    R-2118

    NOTE 1: (Fuel Tanks)

The aircraft uses DLC Mirage5BA_80.LOD; which has built-in (1700-ltr fuel tank/ 500-ltr supersonic tank mesh).
Due to my asymmetrical loadout it was necessary to make a separate (1300-ltr fuel tank and 500-ltr supersonic tank).
The reason for the separate fuel tank is because of the following:
    1. The aircraft does not use 1300-ltr fuel tank as part of its .LOD (I wanted to have this aircraft to be able to use the 1300-ltr tank).
    2. I added a 'centersupersonictank' station for this aircraft, which cannot use the built-in mesh of the 500-ltr tank.

    Note 2: (Fuel Tanks)

You can only pair one weapon type with the 1700-ltr tank as an asymmetrical loadout.
    The reason is as follows:
    1. Asymmetrical loadout with 'one' weapon type on the inner left or right station can only pair with the 1700-ltr tank if that is your selection.
    2. Because I needed to have the 500-ltr supersonic tank as a pair loadout to be part of the special paint scheme of aircraft J-2308... I couldn't allow the weapon station to be asymmetrical.
    3. You can still select any asymmetrical loadout with different weapon type on the inner left or right station. You just 'CAN NOT' pair it with a 500-ltr or a 1300-ltr tank.
    4. You will always have a pair of 500-ltr tank or 1300-ltr tank as a set loadout on the inner wing station.
    5. Center station can select a 500-ltr tank or 1300-ltr tank.

  24. This is a mod of the Super Hornet F from EricJ to make it look like a plane from the israeli air force.

    BACKGROUND:
In the final years of the first decade of the 21st century, Israel decided to replace their F-16C and D-Models (Barak) with a new type of fighter/bomber.
The only really fitting model for type of missions was the FA-18 Super Hornet.

The decision of either taking the E or F-model was decided in favor of the F-model due to the fact that two crewmembers would bring a better performance during the missions. The squadrons of the IAF equipped with the adapted Version, the Akav, were the 116th Squadron "Defenders of the South" and the 140th Squadron, "The Golden Eagle".
