+daddyairplanes Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 nope on the Phantom's guns. during Easter invasion of 1972 a F-4E was modified to carry a similar config. went out tank hunting with two suu-23s and 4 rockeyes inboard. Was named Chico though i don't remember tail num or unit. there's articles about it in Flight Journal from around Dec 04 and Combat Aircraft nov or Dec of 05. they didn't use it A2A though

+daddyairplanes Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 shoulda went for the weeds.. er rocks. ANG and Marine Rhinos were often seen outrunning F-15s on the deck at Red Flag in the 80's. plus all incoming missles seem to have a hardre time connecting couple hundred feet off the deck.
